qtek 9090 mic problem, need help - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

hi
i have a problem with my qtek 9090. the microphone volume is very very low, almost impossible to hear in the other end of a phone conversation. i have hat this problem for 6 moths and was the reason why i bought a new phone.
but i would like to get it to work, but what can be wrong? the problem is there nomatter what rom i use (2003se or 2005).
please help
thanks

If problem persists after Hard Reset (hint: mic auto gain setting), it might be hardware problem: microphone failure (moved, something got inside, just got dirty etc.), connection problem with the mainboard (loose connection, damaged connection).

Several serious problems with Qtek 9090

I'm having several problems with my Qtek 9090
There's a rather loud constant high-pitched noise comming from the screen whenever it is turned on (which is when the device is on!). At first I though it was comming from the speaker, but the screen is definitely the source of the noise. It doesn't matter if the backlight is on or off.
People can't hear what I say when using the phone - it makes no difference whether I use the included headphones or just speak directly into the microphone.
I haven't been able to find a BT headset that works with it. They all have the same problem; The sound scratch so much they're unusable. I tried 3 different brands that all works well with my 2020!
The GSM link often "falls out" - even though there's plenty of link the phone doesn't work (nothing happens when I try to call someone). A soft reset solves this problem!
As you can see, I can hardly use the device as a phone at all I've had the device replaced once, but all the problems persists on the replacement.
Does anyone have similar problems?
1. No, don't have this problem. Strange that it happened on the replacement too.
2. Yes.
3. I have just ordered a jabra headset in the hope it will fix problem#2.
4. Yes.
These problems with GSM are a real headache. One of the primary reasons for buying the PDA2k was to consolidate my mobile into one device. I have seen other people experiencing such problems but from what I could gather, voice over BT worked much better. Have you updated the ROM since you bought it? I should know the answer to 3 today, if DHL delivers, and I can tell you I will not be a happy man if the answer is Yes!
Try a Motorola HS810 headset... works fine for me.

I've already tried Jabra Freespeak 250, which didn't work for me
No I haven't updated the ROM as I've been told by the supplier that no new version is available yet!

I also tried both a Motorola and a SonyEricsson BT headset, but I don't remember the specific models - they both scratched immensely
i use SE 60 and it works ok
As you said, the Jabra250 is pretty much unusable!
Crackling is not constant but goes in waves, even though I do not move.
Am at a bit of a loss what to do now... the device is great apart from this.
>> People can't hear what I say when using the phone - it makes no difference whether I use the included headphones or just speak directly into the microphone
yes PBT read my other post
I have the same problem!!
it is scandalous to sel an device with this big defect!!
Sony HBH-660 works good for me.
People say that they can't hear me when I use the handset, but I don't have any crackling, etc with the headset and voice is clear. You just never know if the headset is going to connect when the phone rings though.

I have this problem also, I was told to use the new rom but this has made no difference, Please let me know if you have found a solution

Guys,
the hissing coming from the screen is a power supply problem. keep swapping phones until it goes away! I used to build switching power supply and the hissing (in a system designed to operate well above 20kHz) is only able to be heared when unstable, inductor core or cap is broken. The hissing is very 'not normal'.
It appears that the Q9090 is standing out as having more problems than the MDAIII, one is the mic volume, most of the other phones are not complaining about this so there may be something with they way the Q9090 are updated or shipped.
With the Jabra 250, don't forget to pair it pressing BOTH the volume and phone button on the headset on discovery with the 9090.(On bonding, turn off headset, turn on again pressing both buttons)
Funny thing is, I had the cracking also. I deleted the headset in BT manager and paired it again as described above. Now it works ok.
Hi,
I bought a Qtek 9090 a few days ago and I also have the same problem with volume level. People can't hear me when speaking, either with the headset or base microphone.
Using a different headset doesn't help (that's even worse sometimes) but I didn't try a BT heaset (and I don't want to as it would raise potential connection problems). I'm going to contact Qtek for support on this...
Pierre
I too am having problems with the Jabra 250 BT headset and my SPV M2000. The Jabra 250 worked fine on the XDAII but is terribly crackly on the newer model.
This is even when pairing it with the enhanced pairing of pressing Volume Up and Phone button together to pair.
Any ideas?
qtek 9090 bluetooth problem
Hi All,
I have new qtek9090 with cellink bluetooth headset. It is work normal, but i am loosing connection to headset each time qtek go to stand by mode. I need to switch off/on the bluetooth in order to restore the connection. Any ideas?
I often get a message stating:
"The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver momory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio."
Does your device also give you this message?
Is it also using the Broadcom "Bluetooth for Windows CE BT-PPC/PE Version 1.0.0 Build 2200"?
Interested to know if you have the same problems with the same bluetooth driver.
same problem
My qtek 9090 shows te same problem
This is a known problem with the Blue Angel, unfortunately, until they bring out a fix, all you can do is a soft reset.
upgrade
hi all,
how can i get updates from www.imateclub.com?
I can't register there, because I have qtek 9090 and not i-mate
thanks

Problem with silent answering call

Hi Everyone!
I am experiencing problem with my xda2s. every few days (specially after using WMP) when I answer an incoming or making an out going call, my phone speakers always silent? but the other party could hear me clearly. I have no problem playing music or whatsover. it happens only when i am using the phone function. I will need soft reset in order to fix the problem.
Does it happen to anyone else? I am currently using Rom v1.31 and v1.08 for Radio. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
Thanks.
Me too
My pda2k make the same, with radio v1.06 and yet with 1.08. I emailed imate they told me to wait dor a soon update (soon !!!).
me too with i matepda2k
I have experienced a similar problem with my XDAII Mini. The unit thought it it was using a head set, so it disabled the speaker. I fixed this by simply cleaning out a spec of dust/grime int eh headphone port. Since then, no problem

Sound from both the speaker and a headset issue

I have started to encounter a strange bug with my BA. Occasionally when I am listening to music on a headset the speaker on the BA itself turns on. For the life of me I cannot figure out why, and I have very little desire to broadcast whatever I am listening to people on the street.
I did a quick search but found nothing related to the issue. Does anyone have a reason, or even better a solution to the problem?
Hi
Have you tampered with sound programs/upgrades etc ?
There's a file "wavdev.dll" which comes in many versions from different vendors and roms. Maybe somehow you changed it.
Another possible reason is electrical... You may have damaged your headset connector. Try touching and pressing headset plug in different angles when playing audio. If it causes main speaker to turn on, it's electrical.
Or maybe you recently installed WM5 rom, which caused my BA to play both headset and speaker too (wavedev.dll issue too).
Good luck
hi, i had this problem once, the only thing that sorted that out, was a hard reset, not sure what the cause was, must have been one of lifes mysteries
just back up everything you want to keep, and then hard reset, i know its a bit drastic, but i couldnt find anything to fix it.
Yeah, I might have to go down the hard reset route, a soft reset sorts it out for a while, but then it randomly reappears.
I have not changed anything for a while, so I doubt its that. Just in case is there any way for me to get hold of a wavedev.dll that works so I can test this before going through the hours of hassle when I hard reset?

Help me please, no sound in P525!!

Hello, I have an ASUS P525, since yesterday, there is no sound in my machine and I'm going crazy. Sometimes, the sounds of the system (screen tap, voices of TomTom, the sound of Media Player) dissapears but I repaired it doing a soft reset. Since yesterday, this soluction doesn't repair the sound. I have done a hard reset and nothing. Even I have tried to reinstall the 3.32 WWE version I have still there is no sound.
If I connect the earphones of ASUS to the jack, all goes good. Theres is sound of TomTom, the Media Player goes and the screen tap, alarms, all. I have installed all the patches of BT, radio 4.5 and WWE 3.32.
I think there is a software problem and not a hardware problem (loudspeaker cable disconnected) becouse when I receive a call, it sounds. But if I hang up this call I can't speak and the other person doesn't hear me. However, if I go to sound systems and play the sound of an incomming call, there is no sound.
When I have reinstall the firmware, I think that the installer Galaxy haven't reinstall the files becouse only have read the Galaxy.cap. I think this becouse there is the same version. I don't want to install French version becouse once I've install it I can't go back to the Enchlis version.
Please, help me, thanks, Goyo.

Are you sure about that?
This is a faulty 2.5mm headset connector on the PDA
You have shorted contacts in the "headset inserted" detection switch, making PDA permanently in headset mode.
Since this is a hardware fault, dont bother updating software etc. Basically you have two options:
1) Insert/remove headset jack several times. Sometimes it makes dislodged switch contacts properly work again.
2) Replace the unit.
Ingvarr is right, it's a common problem to all PDA audio jack
I have had this problem on the xdaII. If you insert a damaged headset plug into the jack it can screw up the sequence of pins detected as it slides in. It is not as simple as putting a new one in and out (unless your very lucky). I had to get a wire and poke it in there and play with shorting the connectors in different sequences. It took a while but when I got the "magic" combination it went back to normal (and the faulty headset went in the bin).
warning: That device totally lost its ability to make sound without the headset about 1 year later. It may or may not have had something to do with what I did, but if you are worried then take it too a repair shop.
Very thanks to all, I was getting crazy trying several options to solve the problem. In fact, the PDA sounds when a call is entering but I can't take the call becouse I don't hear nothing and the other person doesn't hears me. Yesterday, I was trying to put the headset jack in and out becouse I thought that the problem is whith this (I have read your post now). Another thing about this problem is when I put the headset, the Voice Dialler starts up automatic so the problem is in the jack, you are in the truth...
This night I'll try to put in out the headset in the jack to solve the problem becouse now I haven't the headset with me.
I have sound!!! I have inserted a metalic pin in the jack and the PDA sounds fully of sound... Thanks a lot to all of you, I'm very happy. I was very since friday.

I thought the speakers were KO
But after reading your thread, I insert a wood match in the jack, while playing music. The sound came back instantantly.
Looooooooool
This stuff is so easy !!!
(I did use too a bad 2,5jack some weeks ago, but the sound disapears weeks later...)
Thanks for the help

sorry for my bad english.

sorry for bumping such a old thread, just recently my p525 is F*cked up again, after removing the headset from the put there's no sound. so i thought it was the old problem, but then i've notice everytime i remove or insert my headset, the voice command would pop up, and no matter how many times i insert/remove the headset the music won't come back on, i've updated it to wm6, anyone have a clue of what's going on?
Same problem
BUt i rezolved inserting inside HF jack a stick of wood, and rotating him. After that , surprise my sound comme back to life.
Hi guys!
I've just suck now with my p525, cause I tried to solder the 2.5 jack slot out of the mainboard, but the sound did not come back
Any hint?
There is no software solution for that???
I wonder if any still has the p525 in hand. The mute speaker is really a defect of the 2.5 mm jacket that I have just resolved. My way is simple: dissemble the phone until the 2.5 mm jacket is exposed, then make a relatively big hole with a lighter heated screwdriver enough to reveal the copper plates that contact with the head of earphone. With a tiny tool or anything, move the copper plates "away from the wall". Done!
Loss of the elastic recoil of the plates is the cause of a mute speaker, not a dective earphone, I think.

how to deactivate the Headphone jack?

Hi,
does anyone has an idea how to deactivate the headphone jack in wm 6.1?
I wand to do so because sometimes the issue occurs that my prohpet is in "headset mode" but i do not have a headphone in the jack. Once this issues occurred i insert my headset BUT it´s already trash and so i do want to buy a new one?
Last time i solved the problem by reflashing. It takes time BUT i work.
Even soft resets didn´t help.
Thanks.
CHeers,
...
Hi Ronlion.
I've had that problem myself and I solved it by moving my stylus around in the headphone jack. It seems that it had got stuck in headphone-mode, thats a hardware-issue and not related to the OS.
I got the tip from Qtek-support and it worked for me.
I hope it will fix your problem, if it doesn't I'll try and find the mail they sent me and I'll paste it here for detailed instructions.
Cheers,
HermitoZ
Resolved
i have had the same problem and the stylus is the perfect to resolve it push on the pins in the jack my problem was at the last pin from up side to donw side all the best
