MEdia Max 200 Bundle and WM6 AT&T - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hello!
First of all I do know how to use Search, but it gave me so many results and after looking into 20+ of them I could not get a good answer.
My question:
How to setup "MEdia Max 200 Bundle" on my HTC 8525? I decided to connect this plan because I remember I saw somewhere on this forum the manual of "hot to" get an unlimitted Internet with my PDA.
I just updated the Radio to 1.54.07.00 and WM6 to 3.62. Is it still possible to use an Internet in such way that AT&T is not going to know that you are on "MEdia Max 200 Bundle" plan and not "PDA Connect"?
I need to use IM+, Web Browsing (downloading some files), e-mail (POP3, SMTP?), possibility of using streaming video (TV) or music (Radio). I am not interesting to connect my laptop to the Internet via my PDA, but it is possible in the future.
Please, help me to find the link of how to setup the connection. (maybe some program exist for that now?)
Thank you!
P.S. I read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280993

Install vp3Gs AT&T ROM and you will be fine.
Or Search Again using the string Cingular settings cab

I'll second that recommendation. I've got the same plan.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309844&highlight=how+to+get+free+internet
is this what your looking for?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296991&highlight=cingular+connection+settings
the second one is a link to a cab file that sets up your media net connections i didn't know exactly what you wanted.

they won't find out.
when i first got my 8525, i had to choose the pda connect..
then i changed it to media max unlimited.. it's $10 cheaper and it's been a few months now and i'm still using media max with no problem

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296991&highlight=cingular+connection+settings
probably this one is going to work.
I was looking for manual setup instructions, but if I can do it programmatically it will work too. Thank you!
P.S. So, I just need to add MediaMax 200 Bundle to my plan and will try in a few days.

how do i get an FM/AM radio application on my PDA2K?

i'm currently looking for a software that enables radio streaming via GPRS or other to hear my favourite radio channels.
is that possible? how do i get it?
Thank You
even tho that is a bloody good idea, it sure would be expensive via gprs, i would have thought it be possible with the correct software, you would be able to use the devices inbuilt anntena to pick up an fm/am signal.
if u do find anything, let uis know, id still like to try it.
That's probably the only feature this thing doesn't have. Via wifi can you not stream it over the web?
I guess the more chips you put in the phone the less and less the battery lasts! There has to be some compromise.

i'm a GPRS specialist in Mobinil "mobile operator" in egypt so that's probably why it's free lol
I do not believe, that here's a lot of services, which can translate your favorite radios over wifi or GPRS.
Other way I dont believe that any software product can take Fm signal from GSM antenna
I think, that here is only one way - getting SD FM receiver, if any company produce such thing.
Anyway, I never have ideas to listen radio over XDA

You can use media player to stream radio stations. Radiofeeds.co.uk has links to uk radio stations. Also try browsing to the radio station site

so what's the cheapest gprs i can get i have an O2 contract and pay and go sim?
k guys i found it ! using no external hardware or add ons,
it's called GSplayer you can tune in to anyyyyyy of your favourite radio channels OVER GPRS.
for me it's completely free i don't pay for GPRS, the software is free
i uploaded it, have fun.
after downlaoding and installing.
from ur pocket pc broswer go to http://shoutcast.com
select listen, and u can search for whatever channel u want using bitrates/genere......etc
press tune in beside the channel u selected
a small file is downloaded, open it from GSplayer and VOILA!!! u can hear it liveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
peace and out
terribly expensive proposition here
I guess you have unlimited GPRS Plan.
Otherwise, it will be terribly expensive to run streaming audio thru GPRS.
Here in the Philippines, we pay GPRS connection by the kilobits.
I do use GSPlayer whenever there is a WIFI connection.
Sweeeeeeet!!! I dig it!!! Thanks!!! 8)

Sounds like you're looking for some sort of software that can play streaming audio. Depending on the format of the stream you want to listen to, you have to download the appropriate software.
There are radio stations out there that stream their contents using ASF format playable with the built in Windows Media Player. To listen to these stations, GSPlayer is not needed.
Other stations such as VOA stream their contents using RealPlayer format. GSPlayer won't be able to play those stations. One has to download Real Player to listen to those stations.
At first glance, your post's subject sounds like you're looking for an application that can help you stream your favourite radio stations to your PPC. Apparently, your need is much much simpler.
Stations that stream their contents using ASF usually post a link to a nicely decorated web page which has an embeded Windows Media Player that plays an ASX file which contains links to ads as well as the main stream and the order for them to play.
Browsing directly to their web sites and clicking on those links directly from the Pocket PC sometimes don't work.
To listen to those stations, I usually search for the ASX files and save them to my Pocket PC and name them after the station name. Then I go the Windows Media Player > Playlist > Organize Playlists and I will see the ASX files listed. To listen to a particular station, I just click on the listed name.
Sometimes it's tricky to find the ASX files because most stations don't want you to jump to that file directly. They want you to look at the nicely decorated web page that has an embedded Windows Media Player and sponsors' ads. But if you look at the source of such web pages, you'll see the link to the ASX file and should be able to save that ASX file down.
It's rare to see stations listing the links to the main streams directly (http://...., mms://....) but if they do, clicking on those links from your PIE will launch the Windows Media Player.
Attached is a bunch of ASX files for a bunch of US radio stations I listen to. If you're curious, check it out. Also, for US T-Mobile users, you have to subscribe to the $19.99 Internet Plan to be able to stream. If you only have the $4.99 or $9.99 plan you won't be able to.
lets just say if it costs £2.50 per mb for gprs, how much roughly would it be for 10 mins of radio on gprs for a radio stream?

I waste 10 dollars for 30 min been listening radio over GPRS. It's not worth it.
Befor, for some reason, I had free GPRS for about a 5 month, and I been listening radio watch on-line TV - no problem, but they fix something now and I have to pay. NOT FUN!!!
It also works over WIFI connection...

TOMTOM GO and WM6 (DUN)

Microsoft are going to release WM6 with the ability to enable (DUN) for legacy devices, I.e. TOMTOM GO series... are there any cooks interested in releasing a ROM with this option enabled?
this would be great. if this was done i would have nothing to complain about with wm6
Same here, it's just the final thing I need for a perfect WM6 ROM.
One vote more
Same, here. I also tried to use DUN on WM6 with TomTom Go. But apparently WM6 lacks DUN support in Bluetooth Stack.
Does anyone have a fix for this or is there any good WM6 Rom out there with Bluetooth DUN support?
Yes-Sir-Eee
I would love to see that, my 910 won't use the services without DUN...
I was browsing earlier and I think I saw a .cab file in the Wizard forums for PAN support in Windows Mobile 6, however I don't think that anyone said that it worked.
Really?
Point me in the right direction & I'll happily give it a whizz...

I downloaded the CAB from here, and installed on my Wizard. It says it installed but does not work.
Here's some more info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307235&page=2
I can confirm this fix
Used trinity files posted by MuN on the above thread.
heres what i did
Installed cab - soft reset
pasted all files from zip in windows folder - soft reset
then unpaired tomtom 910 and reparied, hey presto it found DUN support
Perfect, have been waiting for a fix for this
I've run the .cab and copied the files into the Windows directory, however I'm having a real headache trying to configure a data connection.
Which device to choose for TomTom GO 910?
@the.drone
I followed your instructions and now my TomTom reports that my phone has DUN capability. Problem is HTC TyTN or HTC Hermes ist not listed as phone in the phone list and automatic configuration does not work.
Can you please give instructions which phone to use or how to configure the data connection manually? Because DUN support which can't be configured is as good as no DUN support.
Thanks a lot.
Marc
it just worked first time automaticaly with mine, maybe i was just a fluke but it found the data coonection first time on 3g
How can I find out my TomTom thinks my phone has DUN?
Edit: when I try to add my TomTom to my Hermes, it only brings up a handsfree tick box, when in Windows Mobile 5 I think it also brought up two additional tick boxes. Any ideas if this is following the path to success of if I've screwed up?
Double post.
DUN Doin' it
Will be giving it a go first thing in the morning.
Cheers for the update, will post results....
Bargain!
You eff-ing ROCK... DUN on WM6.
My TomTom 910 loves you!!
Hoo-haa!
How did you get it to work?
So can someone share how they did it?
I followed the instructions and it now finds my ttg 300, and says it has the services - but can't set up the actual DUN connection either manually or automatically!
Any ideas?
Matt
I really am sorry to be a pain in the butt, but I'll outline what I've done.
1). Paired my Hermes up with my TomTom 910.
2). Run the .cab.
3). Soft reset.
4). Copied the files into the Windows directory of my Hermes via the storage card.
5). Soft reset.
6). Repaired my Hermes and TomTom 910 after having deleted the previous connection. At this point it says "The following features were found: Hands-free calling, Wireless data connection, Phonebook".
At this point I try and setup a data connection that it hits the fan. It's really annoying because it feels like I'm falling at the final hurdle. I also wondered if I was struggling because of an issue with connecting to the T-Mobile network, however am I right in thinking that mccreath's using a T-Mobile GPRS contract SIM connection?

O2 Orbit Niggles

Ive had an O2 Orbit for a few months now, and have to say its the best phone ive ever owned, I used to own an XDA Mini S.
However just a few questions.
1) My wifi disconnects all the time, literally withing 1-2 mins of connecting to the wifi, I have no idea why its doing it, DCHP is set up manually, and im using a Belkin N1.
2) Im using No Data to stop the GPRS from connecting when IE opens accidently in my pocket and ends up costing me £7 a month in bloody errors! But i was wondering with GPRS stopped will I not know if someone has sent me an MMS?
3) Is there a decent Music player that will play music off the network, at the moment TCPMP is the only one that works, but its interface does not really apply well to song playback.
4) Another annoying thing! It appears when I turn the screen off, it seems to disconnect the wifi (although that could be more 1 related), and also turns off the sound, so it means I have to have the screen on in my pocket if i want to listen to music!
Sorry for the multiple questions!
WIFI could be a number of things.....most important thought what ROM are you running? Are you still plugging along with WM5, If you are I strongly suggest you give Tom Codon's Black and Blue Version 3 a spin. This will probably resolve a couple of your issues and is rock solid stable.
IIRC having GPRS stopped won't stop notification of an MMS, I'm sure you will receive a standard SMS message to alert you that you have a message waiting for download, you will need to re-enable your GPRS to download it.
I use Pocket Lan to give me access to Network shares, and have found pPod a pretty easy piece of music software to live with.
Turning off the screen should not affect your WIFI connection, is your WIFI running at full power within the phone, as I along with many others have found that this is the only setting that makes the WIFI function useable.
Take a look at the WM6 Artemis thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=362 and read up on B&B3 from Tom, and BE VERY sure you have read the instructions and use USPL, the upgrade to WM6 is easy and will BLOW you away....

2) MMS is sent over O2 Active (O2 WAP) Internet Explorer will not connect to O2 over WAP so you can leave the settings for that available when you run a program called No GPRS. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=40638&d=1180860606
4) When you press the button on the side you don't just turn of the screen, you put the device into standby. It works differently to your previous device in that respect. There is no work around for Windows Media Player as far as I know, WMP forces the screen to stay on on a dim setting. Take a look at Mortplayer as an alternative: http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=mp_overview&action=view It has settings that allow the screen to turn it's self off whilst in use.
Thanks for replies.
Ill have a look into upgrading to wm6 I was hoping o2 would have an official rom out by now!

Best WM6 ROM for SPV M3100?

Hi,
currently I'm running Black WM6, but I have huge problem to set my orangeworld connection. Somehow I'm missing the proxy tab (I was also in Orange shop but no luck). So I tried to search for answer here, but mostly I found that this ROM is old. So the question is, which one to use? There are too many ROM's out there.
What I need is clean system (basic stuff) with GSM (3G/video), internet connection (orangeworld), SMS/MMS, camera, sim manager, synchronization with exchange via cable/internet.
What I don't need is Office Mobile, messanger, windows live, etc. I'm not using the build in applications anyway, I found better ones (Inesoft, SPB, Page Maker).
Thanks in advance for any hint.

BB Connect

BB Connect with TMO Dash - repost in the correct forum
Hi All,
I am trying to replace my company issued BB 7520 (Nextel) with a T-mobile Dash. (my personal cell)
-I have downloaded the BB Connect Cab file to the Dash and installed. Ver2.1.2.39
-I have downloaded the BB Connect for Windows Mobileto my desktop and synched the Dash ver 2.1.1.9.
- I synched my Dash, it recognized the new PIN and I created a new encryption key
- I have called Tmo and had them add the BB service to my account.
The Dash is connecting to the TMO BB Network. The identity, Status Services and IT Policy all look OK.
However, I cannot send or receive emails, and my calender is not synching. I have turned off Calender synch in Activesynch. I don't have Activesynch synching anything.
Am I missing something? When I run the BB Connect Desktop for Windows Mobile, I only get panel that looks like the redirector settings on the BB Desktop Manager.
Do I need to run the Desktop Manager when I run the BB Connect for WM?
Thanks in Advance
James
I haven't been able to get BB Connect on my Excaibur afterthe first restart of the device. It does work though if I deselect the radio button for wireless PIM. Anyone know why this (I think the BBconnect service is CICAL) is preventing BBConnect from working?
Help, I am lost now.. I had BB Connect work on my Dash, then I flashed the ROM. I have BB installed and I can receive all my emails no problem, but I can't create new or reply to emails the action is greyed out. Since this is the only way I can email I really need to get this working.
Please help!!
Thanks
I fixed it, I just had to send a service book to my phone and everything works now..

Blackberry Connect using BIS (not BES) on WM6, possible?
I am using a Rogers S621 Excalibur (Carrier, CID, & App unlocked).
On my phone I am running WM6 standard 5.2.1238 (Russian ROM)
On my computer I am running Vista.
I do have a BB Connect data plan on my account.
I have installed the BB Connect software seen here:
http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=228
and here: http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=225
If I try to run the Blackberry Connect Desktop for Windows Mobile it begins to start up and then says "The account is not provisioned properly on the server" and then shuts down. I don't think that is an issue as I believe the desktop client is only for BES.
On my phone when I try to select the BB Connect app and select Register now it says:
Blackberry: Not Connected
Blackberry: Network Available
Blackberry: Data Tunnel Available
Blackberry: Not connected
On the BIS (www.rogers.com/bis) when I select "Change Device" and then enter my PIN & IMEI (found on my phone by selecting Blackberry>Settings>Identity ) it says: "The information you have provided could not be verified. Please check your information and try again".
On my phone when I select Start>Blackberry>Settings>Email Settings it says "Email settings unavailable".
What have I done wrong, or what can I try?
bb connect dont work with wm6...i had it on wm5 but once i updated the rom to wm6 it stopped..happened to all of us.. some ppl got it to work by editing stuff ...but thats jsut too much to go through

What carrier are you on? Rogers?
BES? or BIS?
does this means you are confirming that your S621 is indeed CID & APP unlocked ?? and this is a "software" issue ??

I've just installed BlackBerry Connect 4.0 on my T-Mobile Dash with WM6. It works like a charm...!!!.

Hi, in order for the BB connect to work on the Dash you have to have the BB data plan through your carrier. After you install the cab, go to your website where you can manage your device, pick a blackberry as your current device and then you can send the service books. You can also call your company and ask them to send the, just tell em your using a pearl or something. ANy way after that make sure you update the pin and then your good to go. Oh by the way the current US smartphones cant multitask APN's so you will not be able to access the blackberry.net apn for mail and the wap apn for internet at the same time. In order to use the internet you must suspend the bb connect software. I have a .cab for for smartphones which works if you want one. It was designed for the dash, excalibur, etc. It works great.

BB Connect 4.0 not working on WM6
Hi there,
I have my HTC S621 from Rogers with Blackberry plan and recently upgraded to WM6. When loaded with BBC 4.0. It will not connect (works well under WM5). I have seen some ppl say it works and some ppl say it does not work.
Not sure if there is a way to fix it ?
Here is the info of my HTC:
ROM: 1.27.405.1
WM6 CEOS: 5.2.1238 (build 17745.0.2.3)
radio : 4.1.13.44_02.94.90
Thx.
BB Connect question: Is it possible to change (or get a different) PIN?
Long story short, my BIS won't accept my PIN and tech support has no idea why, so changing my PIN or getting a new phone seem to be my only options.
