I have the 8525 and am currently running WM6 CE OS 5.2.1437 (Build 17944.0.3.1). It runs terribly and I bet I have to soft reset my phone about 3 times a day. Is this the latest one or is there something newer? I'm so confused! Thanks!

Unfortunately I have searched and I am still confused. Can anyone point me to the thread which has the latest rom on it? Thanks!
Currently the latest build from AT&T is 3.62 and the radio version is 1.54.07.
Here is the thread you might want to start looking at.

There are plenty of other ROM's out there that I suggest you try. Have fun flashing.
If you do decide to install this ROM make sure you downlowd the PTT_fix.cab for this ROM then you should be good to go.
Hope this helps,
Aaron
I will be a bit more helpful try this

You can always find the latest official released 8525 ROM right here:
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8525/software-downloads.html
And no, that is not WM6.

Just a little bit of info needed as I am new to all this cooking ROMS.
I am using the Core Kitchen which I have found easy when extracting a ROM and I have been using the schaps ROM as it contats the RGU files with the packages as oppose to the Black Roms which dont and I am not confident enough to be able to sort out that mess yet.
The question is in two parts and I hope you can help me a little.
Part 1: when you extract the ROM what is contained in the OS.nb file the reas on I ask is I want to get a Basic from MS ROM so I can start with my own ROM building as oppose to someone elses (VERY GOOD I MIGHT ADD) ROM.
Part 2: where can I get the RTM M$ WM6 ROM from a rom without any modifications or any added packages just the M$ PDA/PHONE ROM.
Please help this is the only two bits that im really lost with.
I have a Vario 2 on T Mobile uk
you might want to look at the FTP for vanilla wm6 roms...
the last time i checked, it was still there.
I have seen the Vanilla ROM is that the M$ RTM base OS then ???
hey guys,
can you tell me what specs you enter into duttys tool as im having problems?
thanks in advance
PDAJAS
ImateJasjam (HERMES100)
Radio: 1.20.31.10
Rom: Black IV Shadow
Olipro 2.10
Telstra AUS
Not sure im new to all this myself as you can prob tell.
Vanilla ROM has too many missig files that I cannot even find according to the tutorial with CORE an official ROM wont have any missing files schaps only has 1 which i know where to find it so can put it in the right place.
It just seems easier to want to start with a RTM official M$ rom and build on it rather than hack bits out of an already cooked rom.
the FTP?
Where is this? (it's early for me, is it in the wiki?)

Its on the Wiki i looked at Cooked Roms on the main wiki page and then it gave me a list of them that were avaliable. Vanilla was on the top of the list.
Skauk,
you can also give a look at the Dopod ROM posted here in the forum... even that its not the newes build, it has nothing added/mising; it could be a good start point.
Regards;
thankyou I will give dopod a look tonight then its so anoying that you cannot get hold of the latest builds that some of these people have so we might start without the bugs of previous builds...
if anyone knows where I can get a later build RTM that's not cooked already you would be number 1 on my xmas card list lol.
Dopod ispretty hard to work out also so anyone else help me find latest build wm6 so i can build on it ??

I would suggest you spend a little time in the upgrading section. As far as a stock windows mobile 6 rom, the problem is there aren't any yet. Although I think some upgrades may be coming along in the next few months. The roms here are pieced together from other machines or pulled from unreleased versions. I don't know of a true "stock" hermes wm6 rom at this point. You could get a WM5 rom to practice with which would show you what to expect, and what "comes with" though.
Good luck,
Hi!
I'm a bit confused by all the threads here. I am looking for the "official" and most stable english/us version of WM6 that works with my P3600. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I appreciate all replies!
There is no "official" version for P3600 as this is yet to be released. You can risk installing a cooked version, the DOPOD release or wait like everyone else.

I know, that's why I wrote "official". What I meant was the most "commonly" used cooked version that is. I hear alot about the DOPOD version, but I can't seem to find the latest version anywhere. Care to guide me in the right direction here? Thanks.
If you search the forums this question has been talked about many times. There is no right cooked version as each is different and depends on your requirement. I would suggest you install, have a play and see if its right for you. I have gone back to WM5 as it is more stabble and less buggy than cooked versions. At the end of the day I just want a phone that works without hasstle. In any case most WM6 functionality can be installed on WM5 anyhow through individual CAB files.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it and consider if it's worth installing a cooked version.
I have flashed my 8525 a few times in the past thanks to this forum, I settled on the Black X ROM some time ago and have been pretty happy since.
Today I decided to just check to see if AT&T ever actually released a WM6 ROM for the 8525 and discovered that they did.
First instinct is I want to give it a shot even though I am pretty confident I will not care for it and will find it overly bloated and sluggish. But I would still like to try it if for no other reason then to know I can get my phone back to an official ROM in case I need to give it back (its a work phone).
I don't see any stickys addressing this but I believe I have read in the past issues or things to be concerned with when going from one of the many cooked roms out to an official ROM, something about the bootloaders or something?
Before I get in over my head I would really like to get some ideas of what to look for and be aware of. Document and share what I currently run prior to attempting the upgrade in an effort to avoid any unneccessary problems.
Currently have the following:
Bootloader (I believe this is what you call this, the multi colored screen):
HERM100
IPL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-2.10.0lipro
OS:
WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)
Black X
8/9/07
Radio 1.50.00.00
I am hoping to upgrade to the ROM released by AT&T labeled as:
RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship
Any insight or experience others can share that I should be aware of please let me know.
Thanks,
Dane
Hello Dane,
I did the AT&T update... Used it for a few days and went back to the cooked Roms. AT&T included a lot of stuff I'd never use...
If you change Roms a lot (like I do! ) then it is good to flash and run an official Rom before installing the latest and greatest.
Just download it and keep it handy...
I flashed the ATT Rom. Its actually pretty quick. If you do a soft reset while its customizing you can elimniate a lot of the bloat. THen go to the exgtended rom and install what you want to install and delete the rest. I also found my call quality is better with the new radio...

Go with vp3g's latest rom. It's the official rom without all the bloat. There's a version I posted to include the setacousticparam so that the earpiece volume is louder..
I've been meaning to upgrade to 6.1 (is it final yet?), and since schaps seems to only post here once a month now, I decided to look into other packages.
Is the 6.1 final already? Whose build comes closest to schap's 6.0?
There is no official build of 6.1 so no it's not final and the nearest ROM to Schaps rom is Schaps beta 6.1 (4.40 I think). You can't equate any of the later ones to Schaps as that's to broad a question. Of the latest ROMS I find the latest builds on 19209 and later to be the most stable etc. You may not get a consensus on that so best things is to try a few for yourself.
NONE...All the great cooks have unique WM6.1 roms. For me, the build 19209 by DVH is excellent! As mentioned above, U need to test with your own device, carrier, radio, apps, etc.....
Is Windows Mobile 6.1 Really exists for Touch Screen
Please answer me somebody. I have this eagerness of trying latest Rom builds but can anyone tell me is 6.1 really exists for touch screen PPC

Hi,
I'm running Kavana 080408 WM 6.1. I'm just wondering if that has the strongest, most stable radio available and if not, where can I find a radio upgrade/downgrade. Thanks!
I don't think the ROM has the latest radio firmware in it. Before I used the 6.1 ROM, I upgraded the radio using a file I found on this forum. Search around and you should find it. I would recommend using the search tool at the top of the page... that's how I found it.
That being said, I'm not sure that the radio firmware upgrade really did anything for me as far as reception goes, but I guess it is always good to have the latest version.
