Orange UK Push Email Delay - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Folks,
Have two providers Orange (UK) and T-Mobile (UK). For both of these I have two seperate push email accounts with Getztek.com. This service is great however, I always notice that email pushed through t-mobile arrives within 8 seconds of being sent. It is not the same though for the Orange phone. Mail arrives at various times and is almost always around the 1.5 to 2 minutes. It just bugs me why from the same email provider Getztek sends both emails and yet one comes quick and the other later.
Anyone else notice this and any help to getting the Orange up to the speed of the t-mobile. Thanks all for taking the time to read this

transferred to voicemail

Someone left me a voice mail the other day and commented that they had to wait for '....your call is being transfered please hold ..... your call is being transfered please hold .....' two or three times before getting to my recorded message. I am sure that callers used to go directly to my recorded message with no wait. I know it doesn't sound like much but people do not bother waiting and leaving a message.
I'm on o2 200 with an xda2s.
Any ideas if this can be fixed by o2 - is it something they have recently changed ? Any ideas
jeff
I seriously doubt this is anything to do with the XDA itself, more likely a network problem with O2.
I had problems myself yesterday with calls dropping so unless it continues to happen (test it yourself) I'd write it off as a one off.
I've tested it alot. It always happens. I agree it's an o2 network issue - only posted here because alot of xda2s are on o2.
Fair enough - although a lot of the XDAIIs are not in the UK and there are quite a few people with the other variants of Blue Angel.
so what happens if you ring your phone / voicemail ?
Mine goes straight to voicemail - no notification about being transferred or anything.

Problem with push mail on orange.....

Hi all,
We've tested direct-push to our exchange servers from a number or JasJars.
When we use Vodafone UK or T-Mobile UK, all is well, the device adjusts the ping frequence and ends up at around 30 minutes for both providers and all is well....
However with Orange, it stays at 480 seconds (the lowest default), after the timeout the device always logs PING FAILED.
We've noticed that Orange uses 3 different gateways on their GPRS network, when a connection is idle for approx 2 minutes it changes randomly to another gateway, when the Exchange box tries to send the packet back using the http(s)-keep alive the connection between the gateway and the device is lost, hence, the keep alive won't be returned, effectively rendering push-mail useless on orange.
They have confirmed to us that they do this to load balance their gateways and seem to have no plan to rectify this.
It's ironic since they advertise the new C600 rom on their homepage stating: "Get push mail now!" when it will only work for the first 2 minutes of each ping cycle.
Anyone else noticed this problem?
Cheers,
Tobey
I don't know if this is why it's not working for you but I just rang Orange to inquire where the push e-mail settings were and was told that it is currently on trial and only those users that received an MMS message inviting them to the trial can actually use it.
I only received a SPV M5000 on Wednesday but ended talking to Orange Yesterday. Apparently they are having teething problems with the push email and it will be about another week before the push mail service is offered.
Even so I have now got push mail working with the standard settings by selecting Orange GPRS Internet as my connection instead of leaving it on Auto pick and using the 'Always on GPRS' registry hack.
I had already tweaked ISA & Exchange timeouts but push mail didn't start working until after applying the registry hack which I found from here.
They say talking to yourself is a sign of insanity, how about emailing yourself through out the day ???

Gmail forwarding delays anyone?

I've noticed that my gmail pushing has gotten worse over today. Earlier today there was a 10min delay between the email hitting my gmail and getting forwarded to my phone. Now an email just took 1h 10mins to reach me. I know this because i sent it to myself from another account and checked it was received and sitting in my inbox via my computer.
Anyone else having any issues today?
YES! I thought it was just me but I guess it's the server issue or something. This afternoon my email gets pushed in about 7-10 minutes (and I did enable the autosyncing)
Ok. Morning over here in England. Tested it again. Delay is down to a reasonable 2 mins.
How's yours doing?

SMS delay/not retrieving :(

Hey guys,
Picked up a desire yesterday and its great, though I'm having some issues with sms. I notice I don't receive any texts until I send a text first, then I'll receive 2 or 3 texts, timestamped in the past, up to an hour ago!
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.
edit: unrooted on o2
i get a similar problem, i know i should have received a text message but it doeant show up for hours.
unrooted on tmobile uk
Most likely when your phone is connected over GPRS the text don't come through till you disconnect, used to happen on my N95.
So if my phone is operating in GPRS mode, until it decides it doesn't need the internet anymore and disconnects, it won't retrieve texts... right. So any workarounds or fixes for this?
Prety much, after I use GPRS I just made a call and during or after the call my text came in.
Been getting this all day, are people really just dealing with this or is it only a few people that have this issue?
I am having another problem... on T-mobile, my phone won't download MMS messages. It will just say Download error, General Network Failure... After it expired (3days) , I was sent a link to the T-mobile website, where I am able to see it for 14 days.
Another problem that I am having, the phone is struggling sending long text messages... 4 or 5 normal lenght messages 500-600 characters... I am using the Text App provided with the phone.
I have a problem that I dont think is an actual problem I think its just how the phone works, and tbh its a bit rubbish.
If you dont have signal when you hit send (im my office at work I only get signal on a little square of the desk) the phone says "message not sent". Sometime when it gets signal it will send the message, but if it doesnt get signal quick enough it seems to just give up sending.... a bit lame really....
I'm going to post a message up with the T-mobile UK MMS settings so people in future can find it on search. Have a look in 5 mins.
JAmes.
I've got the same issue with my HTC Desire.
My operator is a Belgium one, namely Mobistar.
I've got the impression that when i open the sms box, i start seeing the messages. Don't know if it's the communication that goes wrong, or the 'throughput' in the phone (screen, alerting...).
After installing (and using of course) chompSMS, this problem is gone... yipppie...

[Q] SMS sent twice or more

Hi,
It's now for one year i have my HTC Desire (not rooted), and i have a problem with sms.
Two of the contacts i text the most reported me that they recieve my messages twice, sometimes more. One of them has a Nokia N900 and told me sometimes my messages get erased before he could read them (and it only happens with my sms) and the other one has an iphone 4.
So I think it comes from me but can't determine why, or how to stop it.
I'm using Handcent Sms (because of the annoying feature that converts sms longer than 3 or 5 in mms in the stock Messages apk).
For now i'm waiting for HTC to publish their 2.3 ROM for the desire, but it's still very boring.
I searched the web but i couldn't find any answer to my problem, so here i come to ask it to the most qualified forum i know.
Edit : I forgot to mention that for a few weeks my phone decided to randomly reboot without any obvious reason, don't know if it's related or not.
I had a similar problem, but it was my provider. Still occassionally it happens.
I'm french and my provider too. The friend with a nokia has got the same provider but never has the same issue.
But it could be.

Come to think of it, I first noticed the problem on my N72. I would also get duplicate and sometimes triplicate sms from different people. And sometimes they would get from me.
Upgraded to Nokia E65, and it still ocassionally happened.
Since then, I've changed phones to the Desire. Didn't notice it, but the first was stolen after 2 weeks, so I got a new Desire and also changed providers. Haven't noticed anything odd yet.
As long as you don't get charged for the additional incoming/outgoing sms, I wouldn't worry.
Thanks,
I have unlimited sms included in my plan so i do not worry about it (i'm more about mms unwillingly sent). It does not bother me that much, but my friends complain about it a lot, that's why i would like to find a solution.
I'd check with your provider. Give them a few "short" words. See if these things are indeed being sent multiple times. IF they are (3 mms to the same person at the same time), then the issue is in their sms handling system.
At the time I had the issue with one provider, we were getting charged for both incoming and outgoing sms/mms. in otherwords, we were getting ripped off occassionally.
But now incoming is free.
EDIT: I suppose your Sent/recieved notfications are set to ON? Keep an eye on them, and see if you get 2 or 3 of the same notifications.
