transferred to voicemail - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Someone left me a voice mail the other day and commented that they had to wait for '....your call is being transfered please hold ..... your call is being transfered please hold .....' two or three times before getting to my recorded message. I am sure that callers used to go directly to my recorded message with no wait. I know it doesn't sound like much but people do not bother waiting and leaving a message.
I'm on o2 200 with an xda2s.
Any ideas if this can be fixed by o2 - is it something they have recently changed ? Any ideas
jeff

I seriously doubt this is anything to do with the XDA itself, more likely a network problem with O2.
I had problems myself yesterday with calls dropping so unless it continues to happen (test it yourself) I'd write it off as a one off.

I've tested it alot. It always happens. I agree it's an o2 network issue - only posted here because alot of xda2s are on o2.

Fair enough - although a lot of the XDAIIs are not in the UK and there are quite a few people with the other variants of Blue Angel.

so what happens if you ring your phone / voicemail ?

Mine goes straight to voicemail - no notification about being transferred or anything.

BA - Not showing the contact when ringing

Hi, I am facing a problem with my BA
Some times when its ringing is not showing the contact (name) that is calling me, its just showing the number. sometimes it is showing the name.
I dont know why that is happening.
any ideas?
i have the same problem!!
Same here, sometimes it will show the contact, but other times it wont =(
are you on the latest radio rom??
maybe
did you people with this problem have a picture attached on the caller on the sd card?
or a ringtone located on the sd card?
coz, i have no contacts in my list, only on my simcard. (and that is not be working 100%)
But i still see the name of the caller.
I guess the profile of the caller takes to long to load. just like wm2003 with callerid.
you can just let the phone ring, after 15 sec or something the name should come up by the number.
I have this problem too. I have never had a Windows Mobile device where caller ID works more than 70% of the time. It's appauling.
The radio version is: 1.12.00
I think thats the latest right?
No sorry guys, my mistake
the latest rom is 1.13.00
just upgrade to it. I'll let u know if the problem remains.
hey i know this problem...its very common...the solution is delete all the contacts from your sim card memory..that solved my problem..i get all the contacts now...rarely once in every say 200calls i dont get a no immedietly...but then it appears if u let the phone ring for a while..
I have had this problem with every single Pocket PC phone I have ever had. Both Blue Angels I have owned have been particularly bad for it. You just have to put up with it I'm afraid.
I can't wait to go back to Symbian when my contract runs out. I mean, phones were being made with reliable caller ID over a decade ago. I can't understand why Microsoft don't sort it out. They must do no product testing whatsoever.
Just out of intrest, I put 'Pocket Hack Master 2005' on yesterday. I noticed that CPU usage sometimes goes up to 100% when using phone functions, even when overclocked to 598mhz! Perhaps the problem is that the phone side of the software is so badly designed that the hardware can't deal with it all the time, making it unreliable.

1 voice mail at startup

Whenever I start my Xda Orbit, it alerts me that I have 1 voice mail. I don't know where this is coming from, but it is really bugging me. I checked the mailbox and there were no messages. Even after a hard reset and taking out my sim card, it still tells me that I have one voice mail. I haven't seen anyone with that problem but I hope someone can help me fix this problem.
Thanks!
Voicemail
Hi, what network are you with?
I have a XDA Orbit on Vodafone, and I got this Voicemail Icon.
I removed it by setting up voicmail, and connecting.
I also have this problem i have a voicemail icon but can not get rid of it. i have got voicemail turned on and this does not get rid of it when you call voicemail.
I have also tried leaving a voicemail so that there is one to erase and it still will not go when i remove the viicemail.
Any ideas will be much apreciated as this is bugging me to.
I am on o2
i'm with o2 in germany. i walked into a o2 store today and the guy there didn't know what was wrong either. I'm supposed to call the service hotline and tell them to transfer me to the data hotline. I'll post if the problem get fixed.

Major SMS problem

I know there are a couple of threads about this already but mine is a little different.
I got O2 XDA Orbit from ebay - put in my VodafoneUK sim card and everything works fine, MMS, GPRS, Internet and even GPS (don't know if the last one matters) - I haven't upgraded or changed any software or anything but my SMS text messages won't work - they sit in outbox for a minute or so then I get the error msg "your text message cannot be sent".
Ant help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Silly question but does the actual phone work - ie can you call out OK?
Can you receive messages?
My Orbit will receive OK but not always send in a poor signal area.
Stew,
Sorted It!!!!
To your answer sloss yes everything else works but I know what it is now.
I tried Start>Settings>Phone>Services...Voicemail and Text Messaging...select and then Get Settings........BUT it actually receives the WRONG yes the WRONG message centre number from the network.
Got a friends UK Vodafone phone and just copied his message centre number and Viola it worked fine, I'm so happy I could cry!!
Just thought this might help some others who may be having this problem.

SMS delay/not retrieving :(

Hey guys,
Picked up a desire yesterday and its great, though I'm having some issues with sms. I notice I don't receive any texts until I send a text first, then I'll receive 2 or 3 texts, timestamped in the past, up to an hour ago!
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.
edit: unrooted on o2
i get a similar problem, i know i should have received a text message but it doeant show up for hours.
unrooted on tmobile uk
Most likely when your phone is connected over GPRS the text don't come through till you disconnect, used to happen on my N95.
So if my phone is operating in GPRS mode, until it decides it doesn't need the internet anymore and disconnects, it won't retrieve texts... right. So any workarounds or fixes for this?
Prety much, after I use GPRS I just made a call and during or after the call my text came in.
Been getting this all day, are people really just dealing with this or is it only a few people that have this issue?
I am having another problem... on T-mobile, my phone won't download MMS messages. It will just say Download error, General Network Failure... After it expired (3days) , I was sent a link to the T-mobile website, where I am able to see it for 14 days.
Another problem that I am having, the phone is struggling sending long text messages... 4 or 5 normal lenght messages 500-600 characters... I am using the Text App provided with the phone.
I have a problem that I dont think is an actual problem I think its just how the phone works, and tbh its a bit rubbish.
If you dont have signal when you hit send (im my office at work I only get signal on a little square of the desk) the phone says "message not sent". Sometime when it gets signal it will send the message, but if it doesnt get signal quick enough it seems to just give up sending.... a bit lame really....
I'm going to post a message up with the T-mobile UK MMS settings so people in future can find it on search. Have a look in 5 mins.
JAmes.
I've got the same issue with my HTC Desire.
My operator is a Belgium one, namely Mobistar.
I've got the impression that when i open the sms box, i start seeing the messages. Don't know if it's the communication that goes wrong, or the 'throughput' in the phone (screen, alerting...).
After installing (and using of course) chompSMS, this problem is gone... yipppie...

Unread Voicemail Notification

Ok I been on the rom Im on for a good long while, and I had pretty much all the bugs worked out. Then I switched to T-Mo and everything seemed ok till somebody calleed me and I decided I didnt want to talk to them. They left a voicemail and I called and pressed 7 on it and it deleted just fine, but my phone is still sayin I got a voicemail. Anybody know how to fix, and does anybody know what T-Mo charges for the visual voicemail service?
Hey,
I the have the same issue. The light flashes to indicate a v/m. I listen to the message and delete or save it but the light continues to blink indefinately.
In the end I decided to deactivate the visual alert for voicemails. I figured if someone leaves a message the likelyhood is that I have a missed call as well so the visual alert for that would grab my attention.
Good luck, I'm interested to know if there is a fix out there...
Btw I have an unbranded TP2 and the issue occured whilst I was on both the Orange UK and T-Mobile Network so I'm guessing it's a phone problem not network.
I've heard of people having phantom sms count issues but never voicemail.... I don't know if this will help but in the past I know people have used this file (attached)
just unpack it to your phone or storage card... run the .exe and a program will run telling you its clearing your count numbers etc then close. Reset the phone and HOPEFULLY it will fix your problem.
The problem is with the network and the settings. At least that's what I have experienced in Canada. When you bring an unlocked phone on to a network sometimes there are some little issues with network services. I would call an get the notification icon disabled through your provider. It's something they can control and it might solve the problem, but create another. like Eclipsed24 said .. it makes it not come up at all, but I'm sure if you miss a call ... you'll check your voicemail
Cheers,
Diggy
