After contacting orange and parting with 20 pounds, I have been sent an unlock code so that I can use a Vodaphone sim. Since I had made multiple attempts prior to receiving the code, I am now getting a message saying "you have tried 11 times please wait for timeout...." I have retried after 24 hours without any success. I have also spoken to both Orange and HTC without any success. I have already done a hard reset which hasn't worked. I would like to try and flash the device with the original Orange rom but don't know where to find it. Greatly appreciate any assistance. Thx Mebz
Orange did not release an Orginial rom, the nearest to it is the mUn rom which is is on the WIKI rom page.
Why dont you just use the unlock programs on here that work rather than paying Orange, if you have cooked your rom the code from Orange will be useless.
just do this...

Thank you for your advice. I have managed to finally unlock the phone. However GPS no longer works has anyone come across this? Any suggestions!!!!

You now need flashing a new radio ROM. I suggest 1.46.00.11 since I had problems with newer ones.
Read www.trinityguides.info before and be sure to install Hard SPL from Olipro before bricking your Trini.
Gps Now Working
Once again many thanks for your help. GPS now working following Radio upgrade to 1.46...

First off, I spent quite some time browsing these forums but I cant find any posting on a problem like this.
I have a MDA Pro and I used to have Radio 1.09, Now it just says No GSM. When I try to update the system doesn't detect my radio version, also when I try updating the radio rom it just sits at 0% progress and then gives a 114 cant update radio rom error.
I've tried using mtty with rtask to reset my radio... didn't work. I used to have the qtek rom installed but went back to t-mobile rom. Didn't work. Repeated rebooting, with or without sim-card inserted. Didn't work.
Is there anyone that knows of this problem and knows a fix for this? TIA.
Have you tried Buzz's sim unlock tool?
Part of it is installing a specially adapted Radio ROM, without the main or extended ROM parts.
I don't know if it will help, but it might just give your Uni the kick it needs. You may be able to get this 0.00.00 version on, then when that's there, you can update to 1.11.00 or whatever you want.
Is that right? Anyone else got a view on what I'm suggesting? Sounds like it might help, but not 100% sure.
Regards
Seeing as I can't upgrade my rom to any other rom, I don't reckon that will help.
Besides, atm I still got the option to go back to T-mobile and get it fixed or replaced, removing the sim-lock will surely remove my warranty.

If it's still covered by T-Mobile I'd take that option, I have a T-Mobile MDA Pro, insured with HomeCare (T-Mob's insurance scheme), called them up yesterday because of a fault; and because it's bank holiday weekend (and I begged ) They sorted it for me to go to a T-Mobile store, pay my excess, and swap the handset there and then.
Slight cost, but fixed my problem (and also got rid of some dents and scratches at the same time)
Hello, I'm new so please be patient.
I have been surfing the net for a clear concise guide to flashing the rom of my spv M5000. I want to get rid of the orange branding. I have found lots of stuff and downloaded lots of files. But, I am confused as to what files are what and what I need to do. I don't want to turn it into a paperweight.
Many thanks in advance
I have done it, flashed thr rom and have unlocked it !!
One more question, I can not find the gprs settings for orange. I have had a play around got it to connect but could not connect to orangeworld.
I have tried orange setup and had settings sent to me several times but never received them.
Can any one help with this please
Many thanks

The only gprs setting you need is the APN, which is "orangeinternet" (without quote marks), no username or password. Mike
try this cab may be this one can help you

hi,
as has been told, just set your GPRS setting manually. Go to Settings-Connections-Connections-Add a new modem connection.
Or you can just flash a new orange Rom that can be downloaded from http://buzzdev.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,100/func,select/id,44/orderby,2/page,3/, where your settings will all be presetted.
As for removing Orange branding which i presume means the splash screen just visit http://buzzdev.net/content/view/68/1/ and http://buzzdev.net/content/view/69/1/.
cheers
Many thanks for your help its been great. I have flashed the rom with latest orange rom and found a way to take all the orange off , just the bootsplash to do. I have saved the link you gave me and will have a go tomorrow (hopefully if I have time)

Hi,
Just wondered if you could help me. I'm getting an SPV M5000 on wednesday and would like to remove the branding. Could you tell me what you did? I have read up on the net a lot but do not feel confident in flashing the rom. (I will be using an iBook, but can use a PC at work if I have to - beleive it or not I am IT suppport )
Thanks for any help

One quick point I think I should point out is the physical debranding of the phone. My friend read on the internet that he could take off the Orange logo with a sugar cube. I looked it up and found it to be true so he tried it out.
SO we went to the grocery store to get some sugar cubes, and he tried it out....
LOL
There was a different colour behind the logo and he screwed it up bad.
Make sure you dont try this at home.

If it's only branding that needs to be removed just use the link given above and read thru' it carefully. There's no Rom flashing required just a few small changes done to some files.

I have the crossbow rom leaked and then removed from this board yesterday. Sharing the rom is risky, but I'll take the risk to get my Universal going again. I promise to share with anyone who can get my Uni going again.
I'll share the rom but I won't upload to this site or post links. We must protect this great site.
For my bricked Universal see this thread and what I've already tried:

I wish it was stuck in bootloader. But the screen shows nothing no matter what I do.
As I managed to brick it when upgrading the bootloader I'm thinking I've managed to delete the bootloader...
I agree with jorry reflashing the bootloader can help, it was the soultion for me

Thanks, but tried many many times. The PC just doesn't see the device and upgrading bootloader or rom just fails.
if u wrecked youre bootloader i think u have a problem. the only way to flash that rom is to get it out of youre universal and then reflash it using an hardware rom programmer unit.
i doubt it someone is able to help u with this.
good luck
Crossbow
And where to get the Crossbow ROM now ;-)?
So, if its totally bricked then you won't be needing the crossbow rom any more so feel free to send it to me ;-)
I think if you have really nothing on the screen you will be forced to do a RMA
As the others have said there are instructions how to recover it but if you haven't managed it via them then I am afraid it might be a RMA.
You are welcome to PM me with details about the location of crossbow too btw

No not at all. My Uni was bricked long before crossbow appeared. Its been sat in a dark cupboard for 6 months and I only became interested in unbricking it to try crossbow. Sadly I've given up on this one, but glad all other Uni owners have the chance to use crossbow now.
Anyway my current phone is a Wizard so I'm following the Chinese ROM conversion project with great interest.

Stupid question perhaps, but did you ever consider borrowing someone else's fully charged battery to see what happens? A device does not usually die from doing nothing, but a battery might.
Also try to upgrade on radio rom sometimes it bahaves the same as you have mentioned when radio rom is corrupt

To all who live in Japan and hope to use this to access MMS via the softbank network:
MMSLITE (both builds) do not work in this rom. So if you need MMS lite, best to stay with 6.0 for the time being until this problem is solved.
I'm loosing faith in this unlocking methodology in JAPAN...PLS HELP
I'm starting to think there is no solution I have unlocked and uploaded and reloaded and re-unlocked, etc but still the same problem...My phone can not access the cellular network. I did a manual search and my phone does not acknowledge the JP Softbank network. I have put different kinds of ROM's and OS upgrades, etc, but still no success. I'm starting to think that these great unlocked PDA's only work in Europe and North America and not in JAPAN.
I have seen several other threads with others having the same problem so I am going to try to ask this question in several different threads.
I have no errors and everything works fine in the process, just like everybody says it does, but still nothing for acquiring a signal. It just either shows an exclamation point or searching dots. I have compared the various carrier options on my phone to other Softbank phones and everything is the same networks except acknowledging the Softbank network.
I'm praying there is some smart person out there who can figure this out...PLEASE...PRETTY PLEASE...

Sounds like a radio problem. Tried flashing to a different radio? See the Wiki for instructions. After upgrading to a new rom you should still be able to get a cell signal.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349461
tried it and doesnt work...
I put several different radio upgrades and nothing...still can never acquire a signal...Please Help! What do I need to do in Japan.

You are getting no signal at all? Can't make calls? I have flashed many roms and always have a signal after flashing. It unfortunately sounds like your phone has a serious problem. I would send it off to get repaired.

I'm a compulsive flasher but I have never been unable to access the network straight after a ROM flash. What radio do you have now? Probably the only way you're going to check if it really is a hardware problem is to install the standard SB ROM (Make sure you disable the re-locking program in the EXT_ROM before you do that - just soft reset when it tries to run the self config after setup, THEN delete the file from the EXT_ROM itself to stop Softbank from screwing you if they hard reset it.) You'll need to install that ROM if you want to return it for repairs anyway.
Is your SIM sitting OK? That caused me problems once before.
don't flash back to softbank yet....

Correct me if I am wrong, but if he installs the SB ROM it will lock his phone for good right? I think it upgrades the radio to the locked 1.14.01.10 If he does downgrade to SB 5 by extracting only the rom from the setup file, then I can't see it making a difference. He should either get a signal or not get a signal, right? I guess though, if it is unlocked and he sends it in for repairs it is going to come back locked in any event.
Wow...many thanks for support BUT still ???
See, I can not get any support from Softbank because I do not have a Softbank phone. The only pda they offer is the X01T HTC with a japanese OS. I have one but it was run over by a car... I can still access the data inside via activesync. Is it possible to copy a particular file from inside that phone to this one.
I bought a Tmobile WIZA200 from the states. Even if I carried it to Softbank, they will not take it because it is in English (&@*#). I am starting to think it is a hardware issue and hope I dnt get burned on this ebay transaction, but have read some other threads that Japan is difficult (like always). Security Nazi's is an understatement.
I relatively understand these replies but don't really wanna get stuck with a "fried" phone through trial and error.
Do I need a SoftBank ROM?
If so, will I be able to unlock it through the methods in this site?
Will the ROM from an X01T work?
My old X01T, I had it unlocked and changed to English OS but all the unlocking was code based....I never had to input a code in this WIZA200 so I think the person unlocked it before me and I was just doing redundancy...???
Many thanks for your input.
Sent you a PM.

It's moot since he's not got a Softbank phone anyway, but the ROM itself doesn't lock the radio in, a program in the EXT_ROM writes the 1.14.01.10 radio, and then changes the bootloader (I think) so you can't change the radio. It doesn't lock a previously unlocked phone - I know because I have the black model and foolishly loaded the new ROM that locked the radio in, but my phone is still unlocked and supercid, which I'd done before flashing the SB ROM.

I don't think so, but you have a Softbank SIM from the crushed phone, right? Was that damaged in any way?
btw, does this ROM works with MMSlite? or it uses SB original mail program?
Hmmm...It sounds like there are great minds working on this
I had a reply from another thread with the same question and they are having kind of the same problem...I have seen this is several threads. from Japan users with unauthorized hardware.

Is it possible to manually go in and change the radio to 1.14.01.10 and is that the right ?freq? (I hope Im understanding this right). Also, do you know which files these are exactly within the phone and is it possible to go into my old one, copy the right files, change some wording and paste into my WIZA200? Where did you get the SB ROM, etc...?
hey, links are dead....
can I get a link to the Japanese Forum or to the rom.

any help would be nice, by the way i am on windows vist a, but i have also tryed it on xp, but the same still happns.
Thanks

anyone? noow any suggestions
This answer may seem condescending, but it isn't.
1. Are you attemtping to flash a rom update from the phone's original carrier or a non carrier specific rom? If a non carrier specific rom then see #2. If carrier specific did you download the rom from a secure place such as the carrier's website? If not, you may want to and try again.
2. Have you made sure your phone is CID and sim unlocked? This has to happen if you are attempting to flash a non carrier specific rom onto your phone. There is literature in your specific phone's Mobile 6 forum that is stickied or in the Wiki which will show you the best way to accomplish flashing. You must first read, then use the correct methods and tools or you will most likely create a brick. At this point of the game your phone is a little older and the path to Mobile 6 is well laid out. Which leads to the next question.
3. Have you done a search for this problem? You are not the first and will not be the last to have run into this issue. Using the search button does wonders here. If you have the cajones to flash your phone you are adventerous and the knowledge you will pick up will help in the long run. I say this because flashing is addictive and once you see the immediate improvements you will continue to look for better roms.
4. Please remember this is a developer's forum so the intelligence level is higher than most other forums but the patience level is much lower for those not willing to follow directions and/or help themselves. Some things have well laid out paths and others are trial and error. A lot of people here are doing a large amount of work for little to no money so please READ before embarking on your journey.
5. Get to work. Oh yeah. Please lit your phone's information in your signature. It will save someone asking the first 2 or 3 questions I did everytime. You could use mine as an example. Believe me it saves time and people are more willing to help.
hey thanks for your message
I am trying to flash the phone with Official O2 UK WM6 Trion (Hermes) rom 3.54.206.1_6275+radio 1.47 (3-8-2007) , the phone is simfree.
but even on trying to install Olipro v7 2.10 i get messages like 266 or 260 conection timed out or something. i am technical minded and i have tryed to serch for the awsers using google.
I suggest reading the Wiki and your Mobile 6 forums for the way to flash without using the usb cord. It will take a non-sdhc memory card and uses the nbh file from the rom you are flashing. Research that.
What is the HTC name for your phone? The Trion is a Hermes or a Wizard correct?
Also, CID and sim unlocking your phone will eliminate many future problems. Just be aware it automatically voids your warranty.
Okay - can you do a soft reset and have the phone work fine? That is step one. If so, then go to the Hermes Mobile 6 forum and check out the stickies. Dr. Puttingham wrote a great guide to flashing our phones.
If you can't get the phone working from the soft reset I suggest reading the Wiki and the Mobile 6 forums for the way to flash without using the usb cord. It will take a non-sdhc memory card and uses the nbh file from the rom you are flashing. Research that.
The Trion is a Hermes, which is what I have (Cingular 8525). I would suggest a non carrier rom of Mobile 6.1. You will find it to be much faster and stable.
Also, CID and sim unlocking your phone will eliminate many future problems. Just be aware it automatically voids your warranty.
hi i just found out that thephone is not a trion afterall it is a xda mini s, can this still be upgraded
I believe the Mini S is a Wizard. check out the forums. All the answers are there. I retired my Wizard 3 months ago . This is an easy problem to fix. Just read. I still suggest Mobile 6.1. Especially on the Wizard.
