I have WM6 Black 8525
Very annoying problem I got yesterday - my Caps got stuck in upper-case. This happens when I use the slide-out keyboard - the upper case "C" is on the left of the keyboard icon and I can't make it go away. When I press the Cap/Shift button twice it only "lowers" the case to first character I type and then goes back to "C". (Yes, I tried to press Cap/Shift three, four times - doesn't help)
Just makes the keyboard unusable as I have to hold the Cap/Shift button all the time when typing
Any ideas?
Shoot! Please disregard this - I thought I rebooted the phone too. That made it go away. Apologies for the stupid question.

Hi all,
I apologise if this is not the right place to pose this question, but I just got a Touch HD on an Orange contract a couple of days ago, and I can't seem to be able to change the text entry method on my handset. It always stays as 'Phone Keypad', no matter which method I select, from the several methods listed: Block Recognizer, Compact QWERTY, Full QWERTY, Keyboard, etc. It's the same whether I try to make the selection by pressing the "OPTIONS" button on the phone keypad, or whether I go through Start->Settings->Input
All the software/hardware configuration on my handset is exactly as it was when I received it from Orange, so far I haven't even installed a single new program.
Any help? TIA
Hi.
Can't offer any advice as such, but can tell you that I got my HD from Orange just over a week ago, and I can change the keyboard without any problems.
I originally had a Touch Diamond, so I knew how I wanted it set up. I just brought up the menu from the keyboard at the bottom of the screen when it first popped up and did it from there.
Sorry I can't be any help, other than to tell you that you should be able to do it!
Good luck mate.
Hi,
I had the exact same problem but i wasnt too bothered but then I installed Gyrator and everything started to work.
Hi,
I had the exact same problem but i wasnt too bothered but then I installed HD Tweak and Gyrator and everything started to work. I have no idea how it worked though.
I got this phone yesterday, and I too was confused as to how I selected the different input method. Then I worked it out
It must be a bug with their firmware. You have to HOLD DOWN the centre button, keep your finger pressed and slide it up the screen to select the preferred input method. I think I did this when I was in the Compose SMS screen.
Since then, mine's stayed as I selected it - on Full QWERTY.
Hope this helps!

Same happened with mine. If you click on the options then you cant change it, however if you click on the box in the middle of the screen at the bottom, you can change them.. Bizarre!

Thanks for the replies and suggestions, guys. I've got it working for me too: by pressing the 4x4 grid-like icon at the bottom centre of the screen to bring up the keyboard, and then pressing the small upward-pointing arrowhead that brings up keyboard options. I guess that's what ultrazonixe probably means... although I couldn't get it work by sliding my finger upwards off the centre button as langauld suggested (except if incidently I did it from the arrowhead icon).
Thanks for the help!
Yes this is quite tricky till you get the idea.
Press the bottom middle button (icon of keypad) to get the keypad up, if its not already up.
Then the bottom icon changes and adds a small up arrow just to the right of the keypad icon. (nothing to do with the four arrows just below the keypad)
you have to press this small up arrow just to the right of the keypad icon and a menu pops labled "touch input settings".
its not the same one that comes up when you press the options tab which does not work.
Press the right choice eg full qwerty or whatever, and hey presto the keypad changes instantly.
same here
Yes I could change it .. via selecting the arrow next to the mini keyboard on the bottom ... but it used to reset it self every time I starsted the phone...
Now I have TouchPal.. I have never looked back.
EVERY time i use the keyboard for writing a text message my left index finger accidently touches the power button, turns of the phone and discards my halfway written message.
Wouldnt it be great if the power button could only be pressed if the keyboard was closed? Anyone have a solution ?
ditto
glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem...
I saw this problem raised b4 before I had a touch pro 2. Now I see it raised again.I now have the device and I dont know how your finger comes in contact with the power button. I am only small though 5'6 so maybe my fingers are not big enuff to make this happen.
+ if you accidently switch off just tap the power button and your work should still be there.
I'm having the exactly opposite problem: While in keyboard mode it is very difficult to use the power button. If the device turns into standby I have to press a multiple times to hit the right angle toget a responce from the TP2. After all, I never once accidently hit the power button when using the keyboard.
I have the same problem! Really annoying...
same here this is a pain! your left finger nearest your thum catches it sometimes dosent it!
any regedit update or hack??
any one.... i have had a look and killed my fone a few times testin it... drivin me crzy
Same issue here, when I hold the device with the keypad out I keep ik between my 2 index fingers while typing with my thumbs.
The middle segments of my left index finger is exactly on the power button, and the phone goes standby or does not respond on the keystrokes of the keypad and seconds later (3) it pop's-up a "do you want to power down the device now" question.
Would love a tweak that disables the power button when the keyboard is sliced out.
Same problem here! would love a solution, though i don't have one... You could train yourself not to put your left index finger on that power button perhaps...
Exactly as Zaleo describes, I have the very same problem. Trying to teach my self not to rest my fingers up that far but not always that easy.
Could AEButton or HButton perhaps do this by remapping the power button to 'nothing' but only on the condition that the keyboard is slid open?
I have written a script that will achieve this.
It is pretty basic - I am no expert.

Cheers !
My Touch Pro 2 kept reverting to the TouchFlo home screen within a couple of seconds of opening other applications (eg. click on a new email, and a second later it goes to TouchFlo. Soft resets didn't make any difference: nor did disabling TouchFlo (from the Settings/Today/Items menu) - it then just reverted to the Windows home screen instead. So I tried to hard reset the machine. I read that the way to do it is to hold send+end+power, but that didn't do anything. Some posts suggested that volume down+reset was the way to do it, so I tried that. I've now got a tricolour screen, which starts:
RHOD100 32M MI-BC
SPL-0.84.0000
A bit more searching suggests that this is the bootloader (?) screen that comes up when you want to flash a ROM, and I feel dangerously close to doing something expensive and irreversible. Any suggestions as to how to get out of this screen? Nothing obvious when I search the forums here. I was thinking of just taking out the battery. And any thoughts on how to hard reset - or how to stop deal with the original problem?
Thanks
You ain't going to mess anything up. You can flash a new rom from there though but there is no way to do it by accident. Don't you hard reset by holding down the green and red call buttons and soft reseting? I remember it being different from the Touch Pro 1.
you might head over to the rom section, read up on the "flashing your phone for the first time" thread. Answer is most likely in there.
Thanks for coming back so quickly guys. The ROM flashing thread didn't explain how to get out of the tricolour screen. Meanwhile I just took out the battery and that did the trick. I still couldn't hard reset using the send+end+power buttons as instructed here and in the manual. I was able to get to the Settings/System/Clear Storage menu and was eventually able to keep it open for long enough to enter "1234". That hasn't dealt with the original problem, though - switching back to TouchFlo after a couple of seconds in each application. It's also beeping incessantly. Any ideas?
It sounds like your device is registering a phantom End key press every couple of seconds. That would explain it popping you out to the home screen and the beeping. If your End key is indeed acting weird, that would also explain why you can't hard reset using the power+send+end key combination.
You should send it in for warranty replacement...

That makes a lot of sense, thanks. Now that you mention it I realise that it's the same kind of beep and the same result as the End key.
I've only had it for 2 months. I'll get on to HTC.
Hi all.
I'm having an 'interesting' keyboard problem/bug. It seems as if the keyboard is too 'high up' on the screen (as in z-position).
In the attached picture the blue 'cursor' thing (1) that you drag to move the cursor around sits under the keyboard meaning you can't drag it.
Secondly, when holding down the '.' (2) key to bring up the symbols quick menu, it seems to appear under the main keyboard. I'm only guessing this because the main keyboard dims and the symbols are still entered if you randomly touch the screen near where they should be.
So far my only solution is to reboot.
Any ideas?

Yes the hiding keyboard problem happens to me as well but it's so rare, I didn't really give it much thought. Just use the Sym keyboard.
it a only happens in google voice for me and it SUCKS...!!! lol
I've been experiencing a weird issue with every keyboard app I've tried, and I would appreciate some help.
This problem started occurring only after the most recent updates. About 90% of the time that I hit the space bar on the keyboard, it registers as a double tap inserting two spaces. The phone vibrates 2x in rapid succession to indicate that two touches are being registered.
This also happens when I hold the space bar down, except the two phone vibrations are a little further apart when I hold the space bar down. This prevents me from being able to long tap the space bar (switch between language input). No other keys / apps appear to behave this way. I've tried the dialer touchscreen FW update trick as well with no success.
It's been a pain to type anything on my phone and any help would be awesome.

Replying to my own thread here. I think I found a fix (at least for now).
I spoke with Samsung / T-Mobile service and I was able to rule out this being a software issue. I took off my screen protector and the problem still persisted, so it wasn't a screen protector issue. I then took off my case, pressed down firmly on the affected area of the screen, squeezed the top and bottom of the phone firmly together, and squeezed the sides/edges of the phone together firmly around the affected area. I have not been able to reproduce the double tapping issue since.
My best guess is that this might have been a physical issue having to do with the curved shape of the screen?
I think the mods can close this one down. Thanks.
**NEVERMIND - the issue is back. Anyone?**
