As far a I know sdhc memory cards are not suported on the artemis.
It just doesnt have the hardware to support it...

Either HTC wants to say that they support non-SDHC 4 GB cards which probably should work anyways or that they are going to support SDHC in the official release.
I've read many discussions on that SDHC and that it is only a software problem on the Artemis and that someone from this community got sdhc working on a HTC device which did not natively supports it.
e-mail to HTC
Good Morning Customer, Thank you for contacting HTC Europe.? There will be an updated ROM for your device soon but we can not give you a specific time on this.? We can only guarantee a 2GB card working on your device and can't guarantee the 6GB working, even with the ROM update.
I do not understand how is it possible that noone knows whats exactly the difference between SD and SDHC.
there are so many discussion on this topic, and no definite answer.
Trust they do...

I want to believe its like the difference between a cat and a cattle, firstly obviously in the name and also possibly in the compression and algorithms employed.
but still there should be some kind of RFC it's not secret stealth technology... but I can't find anything in the "internets" SDHC is like a myth... people know that it's out there but cannot explain how it happens...
Sdhc Working In A Touch!!
My friend at work has just bought the touch on t-mobile and managed to get a free 4GB SDHC card with it, Il take a photo to prove it so I cant see how its working in Touch and not our devices....

Different hardware and different drivers. No mystery to it!
Yep - absolutely right - no mystery to it. In fact, SDHC is a published standard.
It is different from SD in that it uses block mode addressing instead of byte mode addressing, so unless the firmware in the device controller is designed to support botht byte and block mode addressing, it won't work.
The SD card controllers in some devices have been designed to support both types of addressing and some haven't, because they were designed before the new standard was published.
The Artemis/P3300/Orbit was not designed to support block mode addressing within the firmware, so until either HTC or someone else very clever provides an update to the SD card device controller that provides block mode addressing, the SDHC cards won't be recognised in the SD card drive...

Hey, for more than 4gb sdhc you need sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll from a device with wm6 aku 0.3.1+ (build 17944 or higher) and update os to 17944 or higher, no other way

have you checked that just by replacing these .dll-s it will work?
If you have os rom higher than 17944, you should only update these 2 files - tested on loox 560
Could you post the 2 dll and I'll give it a try.
http://rapidshare.com/files/59328091/sd.7z.html
here you go - copy 2 dll to \windows and install certs.cab
Thanks for that, unfortunately it didn't work.
Just double checking but the files you mentioned earlier were sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll , but the zip file contained sdmemory.dll and signer.dll. Did you mean to send these, or am I missing something?
Thanks
jupp, sending the right sdbus.dll - file would be great!
just thought i'd post to let you know my findings..my mrs just got her new n95 delivered with an 8 gig sdhc after a lot of ear bashing she gave in and let me have it..quickly flashed O2 premium with the sdhc fix and hay presto an artemis with the power of an iphone!!!! way hay many many thanks to bepe and meschle for all their hard work..!!!!!
Thats good news! But since I could not find and 8GB easy/cheap ive ordered a 6GB at a local store which will arrive this week. Looking forward to get that working too!
I've seen the 8gb SDHC advertised on amazon.co.uk for £59.95

Anybody seen any cheaper?

SDHC Driver
1) Install SDHC.cab
2) Overwrite /Windows sdbus.dll sdmemory.dll
3) Install Certs.cab
Soft reset.
Hope you feel lucky... Worst case is a hard reset i guess.
IT's my post hihihi it working

i tried this long ago, with the older patches (that didnt work)... and the problem is i cant overwrite those dll as they are protected by system
so, i guess i'll have to wait some more for a CAB that does overwrite those files for me properly.

well, that's not artemis specific and as some ppl. in that post reported problems on their phones, i guess i'll have to wait some more for a 100% artemis tested CAB

I do not know if this patch is pecially for the artemis, of just have to work on all WM6 devices.
To copy a file and overwrite a ROM file, you will have to use totalcommander or resco explorer. Copy the file with the PC to your storagecard. Then disconnect the PDA and use totalcommander tot copy it into your windows folder. It wil ask you if you want to overwrite, click yes.
Done!

Ok, I couldn't do this either, I always got the message cannot overwrite files.... I have run USPL and tried again and the files have been overwritten no problems.
Will test SDHC card now

No Joy, am I doinf something wrong here?
I have B&B4.3 and followed the instructions
so you 1 installed the shdc cab, then copied and overwrite succesfully and then installed the cert.cab?
Then it doest not work i suppose. Best option till now is to flash 1 of the new roms i guess (with the SDHC support on them).
Take this one. ;-)
Its easy, only install the Cab and Softreset. Thats all. ;-)
Geets Danny.
there is NO way at this point to install sdhc driver by cab!

have a look on this thread:

Not so secure!
I took some time to see what kind of .cab install for SDHC drivers could be the best one. I ok with SDBus.dll and SDMemory.dll, but not sure with this Cert.cab file that could be opened with winrar and finding an .XML file.
Look at this TXT file down.
Well! As seen on many posts on the net, SDHC USES THE SAME FORM FACTOR as SD, but the SD 2.0 standard in SDHC uses a different memory addressing method (sector addressing vs byte addressing).
The following compatibility issues between SD and SDHC cards and devices can arise:
Devices that do not specifically support SD2.0/SDHC do not recognize SDHC memory cards.
Some manufacturers have produced 4GB SD cards that do not conform to the SD2.0/SDHC, which are incompatible with existing SD devices, and are also incompatible with SDHC devices. As of late 2006, the simultaneous availability of non-standard 4GB SD and 4GB SDHC cards,
and the incompatibilities between SD and SDHC have caused a great deal of confusion among consumers looking to buy memory for various devices.
See: http://www.sdcard.org/about/sdhc/
Well if some people are happy with their new SDHC cab installation, could you specify the type of the memory card, your OS (WM5,WM6), which version (bepe, Tom, Meschle, Aje, etc) and your HTC product, then we could compare and find why is it working and not!
I have Mio A701 and etgen driver works on it but this drivers are not working on our artemis! This is only an artemis thing.
Well if you want to try it just make a backup of your system then try it.
If you want I can make a cab for you.
This works only when you make a rom and include this drivers.

1) where did you get this CAB from?
2) your card is probably a MICROSD 4GB, and not a MICROSDHC 4GB, that's why it works for you.
I want to downgrade my axim x51v from Wm6 to Wm5 but I couldn't do it. Can anyone help me!!!
thanks All!!
Here is a link to the files for the Dell Axim X51v A012 ROM. Someone posted this a while back under the A03 thread. I have used these with my Ax with success, but bear no responsibility if they don't work for anyone else. These must be flashed using the SD Bootloader method.
To read the steps for flashing from SD, look in WM6 A03 Thread.
Code:
http://rapidshare.de/files/38265426/x51v_Dell_WM5_A12EN.rar.html
If I might suggest, try the Wm6 upgrade again. I really like Wm6 A03 RTM, and the only reason I have this A012 ROM is because I had to downgrade and reupgrade, because my ax didn't like the fact that I went to A017 inbetween. Everything works well for me now.

Have you tried doing it with the original Dell firmware software (on the CD)? I read somewhere in this forum that you can use it to fix a bad flash, I never did myself (very happy wm6 user).
HELP ME!
Hi Friends!
You can upload this ROM again!? WM5.0 ???
I´m need this! Please!
Thanks a Lot and Big Hug for ALL!
This is old but felt nostalgic today.
MOD EDIT: LINK REMOVED DUE TO FORUM RULE #7 VIOLATION
Follow this to downgrade but be warned the Axim or just old PDAs are picky on the SD cards you use, or maybe how its formatted. dug up many sd cards and micro sd adapters until i found one that finally worked. Also be patient because its slow to flash image.
Used a Nokia branded 1.0GB sd card that i dont remember where i found it, formatted on windows 11 to FAT32 and maybe guiformat-x64.Exe (so many sd cards and formatting combos)
Edit: mod removed link because it had an offer to do the downgrade but had isntructions on how to do it, wont post again but its been posted around here before, i was not trying to sell anything.
I recently received a Cavalier running Windows Mobile 6 build 17745.0.2.3. When I put my 8G microSD card it only sees it as a 4G card. So some of the files and directories are inaccessible. Is this something to do with my card, how I've formatted it or a known problem? Are there any fixes or is loading the 6.1 ROM the fix? I assume there are no official HTC 6.1 ROMs? I can't see any links to the official 6.0 ROM either as there are for other devices, anyone know where to find that? I always feel more comfortable upgrading the ROM to 6.1 when I know I cna fall back to the 6.0 should things not go swell.
Thanks in advance for your time ...

A wise man once told me be careful of what you know (or think you know) because it will get in the way of what you don't know ...
You are in fact quite correct. This fixed my issue. Here is the link to the file for anyone else with a similar problem. Thanks for your reply. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1766401&postcount=93
Even more news ... I bought a Sandisk 16G card and popped it in and it is seen correctly! This fix does the trick. So in summary I am on WM6 original from HTC, and have installed the above fix and the 16G card works!
hi guys,
i'm a new user and i have a questions for you.
I have a htc p3300 and from some days don't read the micro sd.
Days ago was enough to restart and come back to read it. Now is that yesterday does not read the micro sd.
I bought a new micro sd but not read.
What can I do?
Thank youso much and sorry for my english
I solved by installing the cab ArtemisSDEnhancement.CAB
I hope it can help someone if you feel should delete the tread
hope working long
Hello everyone,
unfortunately still does not always read the micro sd.
I tried installing the cab several times.
The only thing I can do is restart and hope that you read the card.
Do you have other solutions?
Thank you very much
