Sync help contacts calendar ? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi guys
I'm having trouble syncing my contacts and calendar in Vista Ultimate. I have a P3300 running WM5 and when I click mobile device settings in Sync Center on the PC, I try select the tick box for contacts or the rest of the options for that matter, but the tick box does not allow any form of entry the only tick box that works is files the same happens when I try active sync settings on my phone. Any idea what I'm doing wrong
Thanks..

Not sure it would (should?) make a difference but could the settings for MS Outlook in your firewall cause a restriction?
Other than that I have absolutely no idea what could be causing the problem. Never come across that before
Have you tried deleting the AS partnership and starting again?
:clutching_at_straws:

I tried to delete it and re-installed Mobile device center 6.1 , but still nothing the tick boxes are solid, and only box I can tick is files, this is really frustrating...

You do have MS Outlook installed on your PC don't you?

Well not sure what it is called in Vista Ultimate anymore but I'm sure it's is Outlook and not Outlook express...

I have installed Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1, and MS outlook, but still unable to sync. I don't think windows firewall would affect this.

Spoke to HTC and I think I might have found the problem. Vista Ultimate comes with a even more watered down version of Outlook express called windows mail and this mail program does not allow the sync features LOL , to think you buy a top of range OS but it does not come with a crappy mail program that does not allow you to sync your contacts and calendar.

Help with Restoring contacts

Hi there,
I have upgraded from WM5 to WM6 and I am running windows vista with windows mobile device center.
After the upgrade it has recognised my phone as a new device and therefore I cannot resync my contacts etc to it.
Can anyone help me as I have loads of contacts that I really can't afford to lose...
Thanks in advance
Im running vista and WMDC as well but whenever i flash even when it detects it as a new device it still syncs my contacts and everything else.
Do you have Outlook installed? Without outlook i believe it won't save any contact or calender info i may be wrong though...
yep have outlook 2007 installed
It isn't configured though - can anyone confirm if the above is true and whether it would need to be configured?

Yes. It will resync your Outlook contacts. Just make the new partnership and voila! I have deleted and repartnered my device many many times. Ever so often I backup my Outlook contacts to a CSV or XLS file.
My suggestion to you is open Outlook and export your contacts to a CSV or XLS file.
Then make your partnership!

Problem with Vista and WM 6.1 Syncing?

Is there a deep-seated problem with syncing WM 6.1 with Vista's WMDC?
I have tried just about every WM 6.1 ROM produced by the excellent chefs here. On every occasion, my Hermes syncs perfectly on the first setup. However, every time I reconnect, the sync fails, with a message that there is a problem with the desktop PC. Deleting the partnership solves it for one sync, then it fails on subsequent ones. So, every time, I re-flash back to my trusty WM6 ROM and, voila, syncing returns to normal.
This occurs with every 6.1 ROM I have tried. It happens with my desktop and my laptop, both running Vista. I have checked that I have the latest version of WMDC. I have ensured that I have unticked "Enable advanced network functionality' in the USB-to-PC option.
I need to sync my Hermes every day, so this problem stops me using any of the 6.1 ROMs. Am I the only one with this problem? Has anyone had the problem and solved it?

Yes, both desktop and laptop are using that version of WMDC.
I have that constantly as well with every 6.1 ROM i've used.
My "workaround" is to turn off the calendar sync, allow the other items to sync, then turn calendar sync back on and re-sync
Then that PC will sync properly until I try to sync to another PC and I have to turn off calendar, etc... again
I've using WM 6.1 ROMs with Vista for some time now and have never had that problem. The only difference is that I leave the enable advance network..blah..blah checked. Try it.

Thanks very much for your response. I am heartened to hear that someone else is experiencing the same problem, and it is not just me.
I will try the calendar sync work-around.
Blackout128. Thanks for your reponse as well, but I have tried it with that box ticked and unticked. From Radimus above, it could be a calendar issue. Do you sync with Outlook Calendar?
Yes, I sync the calendar. I guess it was kind of stupid to suggest something that simple. I hope the calendar issues works, who knows with vista, I may have that problem tomorrow.

My final question, and this is the killer question - Are you using Outlook 2003 or 2007?
I use Outlook 2007, and my suspicion is that there could be a problem syncing with that version. Those who use Outlook 2003 might not experience it.
If you say you use Outlook 2003, great, perhaps I have got to the root of the problem.
If you say you use Outlook 2007, I will pack my bags and go!

I have no problem slashing and syncing using Outlook 2002.
Having read Radimus' workaround, I re-installed a WM 6.1 ROM. Once again, I experienced sync problems. But, as soon as I removed Calendar from the sync items, everything worked well.
Is there anyone out there able to sync calendar items between a WM 6.1 Hermes and an Outlook 2007 PC?
I am running Outlook 2007. Here is my Outlook Info.

Thank you Blackout128. My version of Outlook is the same as yours. I am stumped.

Mobile Office - Outlook

I'm using Ricky's V24 Vanilla, which is awesome, btw, thanks! But I'd like to use Outlook Mobile and see that it's not an installed component of Office Mobile.
Since I use Outlook 2007 at home and work, I'd like to be consistent on my phone. Is there a way to install the Outlook component, or have to install all of Office Mobile?
I tried to install the version from MS, but it said there's already a newer version of Office Mobile on my phone.
Thanks!!
You can set up an email account from the phone by clicking the message button on the lower right corner and then go to setup-email... I believe this is what you are looking for right?
I did do that, but I don't think that's Outlook. that built in app seems to be simple, and plain. I'm looking for actual Outlook Mobile, for more functionality. If that is, in fact, Outlook Mobile, that's sad.
No that is not it did you try this site...

Yup, that's where I went and downloaded, then tried to install, but it said there's already a newer version of Office Mobile on your mobile device.
All outlook on your phone does is syncs the emails on your desktop outlook with your phones outlook.
You can "install outlook" when you first pick the options on active sync to sync.
I think you can add it if you right click on your profile in active sync.

Where is Outlook mobile?

Alsa
alright, i feel pretty newbie haha i i figured it out, so forgot about first post
however, i only have an hotmail email account, how do y sinc this with outlook and my pro2?
might not be possible, so maybe some1 can tell me how to sync my contacts to my outlook?
kind regards
Oh, man. I see you're a total newcomer, welcome to the Windows Mobile world! Your phone will look like complicated at first, but after a couple weeks playing with it, you should be able to start harnessing it's power.
Pocket Outlook is integrated on your phone. The contact tab, calendar, tasks, etc IS pocket Outlook itself.
In order to sync your contacts with windows, you need to have the syncing software installed. It's on your phone's CD. If not, then you can get it from Microsoft:
Windows XP and earlier, use Activesync.
Windows Vista, Seven, use Windows Mobile Device Center.
After the syncing software is installed, just plug in your phone, select activesync, and follow the instructions on-screen.
To sync your hotmail account directly to your phone, you can use Windows Live (add it to the program tabs) and then sign-in. If you want it directly in outlook PC, then search for the Outlook Connector.
For hotmail; go to the TF3D--> Settings--> email setup menu and enter your details as prompted; it will automatically create a hotmail connection file for you

Window Mobile Device Center sync issue

I need help, I recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my desktop Pc. I then installed Windows Mobile Device Center and Microsoft Outlook so I can sync/backup my contacts. Well now when I try to sync my phone Windows Mobile Device Center gets an error. I tried to sync it with my laptop that is running Vista Ultimate and i get the same thing. I think I probably need to hard reset my phone but I can't because I don't have a backup of my contacts since I reformatted my desktop pc. Anyone know what the problem could be with my phone that's causing it not to sync? Or what is another useful tool to backup contacts. I have Microsoft My phone and it won't let me backup contacts cuz I already have it set to backup thru Outlook.
Are you running Outlook 2010 on a 64 bit operating system by chance? If so, the Mobile Device Center won't work. I was searching about this all morning.
D.
No i'm running Outlook 2007. I think it has something to do with the phone cuz I'm unable to sync it with Vista or Windows 7
Have you a gmail account?
If so set it up with Exchange to sync your contacts and calendar, then you can reset the phone
i have the exact same problem!
besides that, i see that when i sync, Office 2007 (and WMDC 6.1 on Windows 7) takes the contacts i have in hotmail, and the contacts i previously had on my phone, and adds them all together, and then syncs them to my phone.. this is killing me, everything i sync my phone i have a bunch of unsorted and unwanted email addresses in my "contacts" in the phone.
any solution for this? before i used to sync contacts with no problem, in Office i even had a seperate group for hotmail contacts and just my phone contacts.. now its only 1 group together, any idea how to separete them??
