NET Compact Framework uninstall - HTC Excalibur

Hey,
many of the apps for the Excalibur/Dash require the new NET C Framework v2, i downloaded it, tried to install it and my excalibur popped up a msg saying: There is already a version of the NET... installed, plese uninstall this version first before installing the new one....or sth like this, well okay, but how should i uninstall that version? i mean i recently just upgraded to WM6 so i could imagine the newest version of the NET framework is included anyhow. BUT, when i want to install some of the apps besides that, it still says: You need to have NET compact framework v.2.0...so, how to uninstall then?

wm6 has cf2 built in. cf2 can also run cf1 apps but sometimes there is the odd problem with crashes etc so you might like to install cf1 sp3 (the last version of cf1) too.

Okay, still, how am i able to uninstall the cf2 first?

Hm..AFAIK you can't uninstall it, because of it's shipped in ROM.

Muaha...alright...so all the DashApps are rather useless that require a net framework v.2.0, although i am supposed to have it..!?

this works on my blackstone

I found the 2v in the device\windows\AppMgr-folder. I just deleted the verson 2 folder after I had verifyed that the 3.5v was in place!

>net compact framework compatibility

Hello All,
I've been looking over various board (and Google) but found no answer to this particular question. I hope you can help.
I have an employee who has just got himself an XDA orbit. This has come with MS .Net Compact Framework version 2 on it. We use some device software that has been written for version 1. Now; version 2 is supposed to be completely backward compatible but it turns out that is not the case.
What I would like to ask is:
It appears that you can have multiple versions of the .net compact framework installed yet the MS installer will not install because it detects the newer version. I am not familiar enough with .net on these devices to know any way around this. Is it possible to retrofit version 1 at all? You advice would be much appreciated.
I would really like to help this guy out.
I guess this is because Microsoft thought they would be compatible. I would try to get another installer for CF1. If there is nothing newer than the one you have, try editing the installer. The cab-Installations are defined by xml files and are quite easy to read and edit. It shouldn't be a problem to remove the check of the newer version.
Tell us if it worked :-D
Ok...
I have the newest installer for .net CF V1 SP3. That's the latest one I can find on the MS site - without going to Version 2. I've unpacked it and I am now sitting looking at a folder full of CAB files.
I guess one of the questions I need to ask is whether it is possible versions of >net CF on the Artemis? If it is, are there any caveats?
And how do I know which CAB file to use?
I should explain that I am new to field of XDA modding so I don't really know all that much about how the OS works. This is a little project that will help a friend out (he is techincally incompetent) and give me a bit of extra knowledge (right now I feel technically incompetent...).
I'd try it that way: run the installer with the ppc disconnected. Then look into the "program files\Microsoft Activesync" folder which cab you can find there. Maybe it's more than one depending on your CPU. Extract the cab and edit the xml file.
CF1 SP3 is built into the ROM of WM5 so installing it again is just wasting your precious storage memory. CF2 SP1 can be installed to your storage card. CF2 is backwards compatible and can run CF1 applications, but since all WM5 devices have CF1 built in when you run a CF1 app it actually runs under CF1. You can force it to run under CF2 by placing a config file in the applications directory.

@indiekiduk: without having read your links; are you sure about CF1 is installed on the device?
I tried the version checker of the hitchhiker website ( http://www.kasuei.com/hitchhiker/ ) and it says ".NET Compact Framework Unknown (2.0.5238.0)" seems to me like version 2.*.
I have not installed any other CF onto my orbit.
correct me if i'm wrong please.

This is simply not true. The Orbit comes with SP2 installed and has never had SP1 installed - not in the ROM on the XDA I've seen.
The Orbit comes pre-installed with CF2 - I have seen this with my own eyes. It is also NOT completely backward compatible. Even the CF .net team admit this - there are always caveats when microsoft say something is "backward compatible".
I don't want to force it to run under SP2 - because it IS running under SP2 already.
Can anyone tell me which CAB file I can use to install another version of .net CF? And if it's even possible to retrofit CF v1 on the Orbit?
You could try changing the value under HKLM\software\microsoft\.NETCompactframework - to try and fool said program to believe you have CF1, CF2 programs may not work but worth a shot.

sdkcerts.cab

Hi ,
I have been trying different vesion of Comm Manager on X01HT, most of them are good and installation without problem. When I tried to install the schen 10 button version, sys said no premission or something like that , So I kept reading the thread and then I found and installed the "sdkcerts.cab" (from the same thread), after that, install this 10 button Comm Manager and it could be installed this time.
So I am wondering what is this sdkcerts.cab?
What's the function of it?
I am a bit confused. Hope someone could explain it to me. thanks a lot guys!

SDK Cert is a certificate used by the developers or programmers to sign the file/s you're using to make it/them eligible to be installed on the device. It's just like a consent from the developers for their OEM softwares to their users. To make the device accepts the file/s, the SDKCert have to be installed on the device for key matching purposes.

Thanks so much for your description,
is this sdk certs an universial file? or specific for a particular program (unique) to install?
For example, if I have 2 program A and B need to install sdk certs, do I need to install one for A and the other for B program? or just install one and then not need to install anymore?
Sorry for my stupid questions

hello sir, im new here..my question is where can i download sdkcert 1st.cab for my htc. thank you
Hi everybody!
I have a question: can I savely uninstall the "sdkcerts" after I installed the programms which need sdkcerts (Pro2 Notification Manager and Spike's MicNeo TaskBar Varients)? Or does these programms need the sdkcerts to run on my device?
In advance: thanx for the reply
Greetz,
Michael
Almost all has them
almost all the roms has sdkcerts by default! sometimes it doesnt works so good so the cab must be installed again... only once... if you try to install something and has no permisions intall this sdkcerts and then your new app.... it doenst works... maybe is wrong cooked
for taskbar yes! its needed! to change the dll!
want the sdkcerts cab... search...
Thnx for your reply.
As I wrote in my post, I already installed the sdkcerts.cab and the programms (pro2 notification manager and the stuff from spike).
But my question is: do I have to let it (sdkcerts) on my device or can I uninstall it when the programms are running?
Greetz,
Michaël

Michael, I know this is a slightly old post but did you ever find the answer to your question? I too have been searching for ways to uninstall/remove installed SDKcerts WITHOUT having to perform a Hard Reset.
If you or anyone can answer this or help point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks a bunch!

You're welcome. I've tried it since making the above post, and it appears to work. Upon uninstall of the sdkcerts, programs with drivers requiring sdk certs won't function anymore.

Sufficient System Permissions... same old problem.

guys,
i been trying to get help for a predictive text problem i'm having since i installed pdaviet manilla2d v18 on my hermes. it comes with those diamond keypads and predictive text for enu/esp/fra/ger/ita but not for portuguese (??????)
this rom is special cause it managed to get manilla2d working fine on hermes and still letting me do everything else, without compromising much speed. it's a found and i want to keep it until i find something better.
this rom won't let me install this cab HTC EzInput QVGA FullKbd 0409-RC1.cab which contains the same keypads but with various language packs. it will end up with the insufficient system permissions message. i did get it working on the V19 but this rom version is so buggy i had to step back to V18. I have also tried installing separate language packs but they won't work.
this insufficient system permissions problem has been covered before in this forum but has not been resolved as the one who had the problem found a different cab to use.
the only ways i see for fixing this would be get rid of security - which i've already tried using a microsoft program that keeps querying device for ever and ever and won't let me change anything or maybe finding another similar keypad kit with language packs that won't bump into the security level of this rom.
chef has released V20, will try this too in the mean time.
Check if you have .net 3.5 installed on your Hermes. I find it missing a lot. Re-installing might work too...

I do, yes. This is one of the first things I install after a flash, without it I can't run AdvConfig... have considered that too.

Can't install .net Framework

Hi,
I use the EnergyROM with WM 6.5 and Manila 2.1 with Windows 7 x64.
If I connect the TP2 to my PC and if I choose to install the .net CF 3.5, the installation abort by 100%
Error: There was an error... Supportinformation: 3
Someone an idea?
check the Cabs, tweaks, & other stuff sticky. there's a link to the .NetCF 3.5 CAB that you can install straight to the phone.
I use the cab from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347537&page=1 and it doesn't work :-/ the same error. I think that this isn't aproblem of the cab.
Dumb question, doesn't the ROM come preinstalled with 3.5? IIRC, it does.

.net Framework :(

After upgrading to windows mobile 6.5 on my touch pro 2, everything seems to be working but some apps that i install give an error saying that i need to upgrade my phones .NET compact framework. After downloading the latest .NET compact framework (3.5) It installs on my PC and then when it moves onto the phone installation, my phone says .NET compact framework installation was unsuccessful...
any help will be appreciated
There is a .net framework cab around here somewhere. I just cant find it right now. I will see if its on my phone somewhere. You can check out the link in the tip, tweaks thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524655&highlight=.net+framework
Are you installing the compact framework. I think that makes a difference. Not my forte, I am afraid. I was able to install it on several ROMs already. Just hunt around a little and you'll find it.
Try this cab.
