Bluetooth VISTA WM6 - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi,
i am trying to sync by bluethooth in vista but i cant do in XP it works fine but now i cant
i have install windows mobile device center in XP i use active sync but in vista doesnt work....
someone can help me?
have someone sync WM6 with vista by bluetooth???
thx

Yep, mine works...
I have actually used two different bluetooth adapters in Vista 64bit, and both work. The first one was that crappy Logitech MX900 mouse one (the drivers they give you are sucky at best). The second one is my new Anycom USB 200 one (12.99€), which has very good Vista drivers already.
What you have to do is, to pair your device first, which the WMDC installed and running (best if you already synced via usb to make sure it works). Then pair your pc (from your mobile). Then it should tell you (instead of COM port) that the protocol Active Sync is available... Then you should be ready to go.
But make sure youre BT stack supports COM (usually all do), else it will not work

Internet Sharing and Vista

Hello, been using custel 2.5 for a while now, probably the day after it came out. Now I need to use internet sharing adn I`m not able to do it thru BT. When I pair my device I can do activesync just fine, but on Vistas BT manager (BT Devices) its not showing the dial-up device. This is strange it works fine with the USB connection, but I really need the BT. Please help. Thanks in advance.
BTW it used to work with wizard with WM6. Thanks
its not a dail up service to start off with its a PAN. second what BT stack are you using? I had the broadcomm stack first and that wouldnt work so i had to switch to the native MS stack and its works fine. If you know how to edit the bt.inf file on your vista machine that will install the MS stack instead of the other stack.

Maybe I dont even have to edit anything, maybe Im just having a senior moment thx for the reply
believe it or not if you use your handheld's help program and search for internet sharing it will give you instructions on how to set it up. and no it does not show up on vista as a dail up network since it is not also search this forum for Bluetooth PAN and there is lots of info

Yeah got it working, works ok kinda slow, I get about 322k on dslreports.com/mspeed while on the phone I get around 800k on the phone it self and about 800 using the USB cable. Any suggestion on how to speed it up ?

I noticed the speed decrease over PAN compared to the USB cable as well. I get way more fluctuations over BT. I am sticking to the USB but it is a nice fallback. Also, for me, Internet Sharing is a night and day difference over dial-up networking/modem driver. It is so easy. This feature is a WM6 gem!

Bluetooth is severely limited in Terms of speed, especially if you're not using Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

vista 64 bit
Hey Guys!
My first post with such a stupid problem:
i'm trying to connect to internet with vista 64bit using my hermes over usb. but it doesnt seem to work.
Until last week i had win xp sp3 on my pc and the internet sharing option in hermes worked without any problems. Now with Vista Ultimate 64 bit i can connect the phone to pc, sync works perfect.
when i start internet sharing, phone builds up a GPRS connection but after 2-3 sec it disconnects the data connection and active sync authentication starts with vista.
In vista i cant find any modem connection in network settings. The only thing i found was in device manager when phone is connected to pc (HTC USB Modem)
here is my spec :
- windows vista ultimate 64bit
- mobile device center 6.1
- Framework etc. is installed
my Hermes:
- HTC_HERMES_S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_V3_WWE_02.10.2008
- SPL 2.10 olipro
- radio ver 1.54.30.10
i have re-installed the drivers and device center several times without success.
What the hell i forgot or what i'm doing wrong...
Are there any tools or drivers i should use?
My friend has a vista 32 bit system. with his pc its no prob...some rndis drivers installed itself and we began to surf.
But in my vista 64, i missed this rndis driver installation......
Please can someone help me, i'm so confused...
Try checking your firewall... maybe disable it to test and see if it works temporarily.
Alright, thank you i'll try it on monday when i'm in office...
Ive no i-net there so i must be prepared, so are there any specific drivers or something i need to download? Or is device center enough?
Close Firewall doesnt really work...
Yesterday, i had a connection for one time...
In Device Manager, there was a "Remote ndis based Internet sharing device"
and internet worked...Today nothing works...
What have I to do in Vista? Should I deactivate some processes like wcescomm.exe? When I do this, It automatically restarts when Internet Sharing connection breaks down.
Could someone explain step by step how to get Internet Sharing work (Steps, Tools, Programs, Drivers)?!?
Thanks guys!
Same Problem
I am having the same exact problem.....
I HAD windows xp sp2 and everything worked fine once activesync was installed.....
I HAVE windows vista 64 bit and the device under the device manages show that its not working... it instals the RNDIS (whatever) drivers but dose not work...
I TRYed windows vista 32 bit, everything works fine..... the device conects with no problems...
SO the problem is that its VISTA 64bit so what would be causing this ???
btw my phone is a WM6 8525 from ATT with Internet Sharing
I need the internet sharing option when im at HomeHome and not at school, so im thinking about taking my laptop back to office depot!
So glad im not alone...
In meantime, in arranged with the prob... I think no one knows a solution...

Serial Port but no Activesync?

I'm pretty sure i have everything setup on the pc right. Serial port is configured in WIDCOMM drivers as COM5. Activesync is setup to listen for COM5.. but on the ppc all i see is a serial port selection in the bluetooth mgr and not activesync.. Anyone have any tips to get it working correctly?
It isn't real clear from your post, but I assume you are trying to set up bluetooth sync.
Some avenues for you to explore:
Have you set up a partnership through USB connection? If not, this should be first on your list of things to do.
Have you paired the devices? Turn your PPC to discoverable in bluetooth settings and have your PC search for new devices. The wizard should pick up the PPC and walk you through the pairing process.
Does your bluetooth module support the correct services? Older bluetooth dongles and radios might not support syncing pim info.
I have the exact same Problem.
Did everything like it is described here in the forums. Firewalls and antivir deactivated. Used the right COM ports. Settings in Active Sync match. Pairing successful. The WIDCOMM-Driver even renames the Serial Port to ActiveSync after pairing. But even after all that, if I'm trying to get a Connection from my phone by using the ActiveSync on my phone with "connect via bluetooth", I cannot see ActiveSync there, just Serial Port. Switching on the Beam (like in some boards suggested) had no success either.
I tried reinstalling all. I tried my desktop PC and my Laptop (same problem). ActiveSync does know the XDA when I'm using a cable. I tried deleting the profile and create it again. I tried the Microsoft bluetooth stack instead on my laptop. I tried using another COM-Port. I tried deleting the pairing from the registry on the phone.
I have a XDA Neo / HTC Prophet with WM6 ProphetTouchIX, an Anycom BT-200 Bluetooth Dongle with WIDCOMM based driver. WINXP SP2 with the newest Security updates and Active Sync 4.5.
If anyone has any new suggestions, please post them here. If you have the exact same problem, post here, what you've tried to solve it, maybe we can at least find out, what's causing it.
found this one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=287820&highlight=widcomm+bluetooth
seems to be the same problem.
if you have Touch IX installed, you need the bluetooth fix from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342302 .
worked for me. Give it a try!

User Observations: BT, Activesync, Vista and Dash

First let me apologize for spamming the forums with some similar threads... each time I overcame a hurdle and a new one presented itself, I just began a new thread to discuss that. From now on I will append the initial thread... thanks for your patience.
1. WM6.1 and WMDC 6.1 (vista x64) are not too friendly... as the interface, though designed to be intuitive.... is anything but. I am sure it will get worked out in the future... but now it is one tough SOB to conquer
2. From doing enough reading on the web, though recently updated (12-17-07)... the Toshiba BT stack also does not play nicely with WM6.1 ... as numerous smartphone and PPC users are experiencing issues across multiple mobile platforms.
3. In Vista x64 (this is my personal experience) the only way for me to sync via bluetooth is to drop the Toshiba BT stack and use the generic M$ drivers. However... doing so I lose the stereo and serial port services
4. For whatever reason, it seems that activesync locks up STK (R08). When I disable STK, I can establish a connection infintely quicker. Alternatively... when I have activesync disabled, STK is much snappier and its failure/crash rate drops substantially
If anyone has had similar and/or different/"better" experiences with similar hardware... I'd love to hear about it
OS: Vista ultimate x64

Never thought of STK being the culprit of activesync issues. Since i didnt have these issues with WM 6.0 . Now i also use the toshiba bluetooth stack but i use winXP and there was a way that i could get activesync to work. (not sure how this would translate to WMDC) here it goes. Basically i created another bluetooth COM port with the toshiba BT configurator. then made sure that COM port # was selected in connection settings under activesync then i opened activesnc on my phone searched for new bluetooth devices and when it found my PC and connected, activesync was one of the options. Trying to go the other way around by pairing the phone starting with toshibas program did not yield the same results, in fact i could never get it to paired the other way around.
very interesting...
I will try the technique with today... usually my issue comes about when the devices cant exchange passkeys... although they are identical.
pudge.... should I set the com port as server or client?

Do what? the com port needs to be a serial COM port. not a bluetooth DUN or PAN com port

I gotcha... when I use the BT com port utility it asks whether I want to create a client-side or server-side port
since its serial it needs to be "server" side...
I tried, but still no luck, it pairs.... lists stereo and activesync in the services, but then refuses to sync
I think this is a flaw in WMDC 6.1

the only other thing you might try is in bluetooth settings -->security on your device. disable (temporarily) the OBEX security option and try again.
You can also try and create a COM port on your device. When you're on the screen where you add a new bluetooth device. press right soft key and select COM ports. right soft key again and then select new outgoing port. then select your PC (or laptop) on the list of devices that shows up. then add a com port . and it will let you pick com 6 or com 7. Then try again

already been down that road, trying to set up a new outgoing com port (6,7) no dice.
I think the deal is WMDC6.1 ... it makes me sad

sorry to hear that. Well since i have the same drivers, i will not be using vista anytime soon (not that i needed this as an excuse to begin with)
I was thinking of perhaps looking for some compatable drivers to replace the Toshiba stack. The generic MS drivers allow me to connect via activesync... but thats all, I lose all serial services (including object push, file transfer, stereo etc....)
I'll be honest though, I have been an XP guy for a long time... but after learning how to tweak, hack and optimize my vista install, I love it.

We need more specifics to your issue, as there are several solutions. depending on which bluetooth stack you're using.
SO tell us which OS you're using on your PC (or MAC)
And tell us which bluetooth stack (drivers) you're using so we can give you the help you need
i have windows xp sp2 and the bt is dell 355 + EDR thank you

Do you know what COM ports (COM ports numbers) for serial connections the bluetooth stack created. The reason why i ask is, if you know which virtual serial COM ports your bluetooth stack created (ex: COM Port 3, COM Port 4, COM Port 5) and which com port number your device is assigned when you are paired with your PC, then you can go to connection settings in activeSync on your PC and select conection via com port and in the dropdown, match the COM port your device uses when connected to your PC.
Then the next time you connect your phone to your PC via bluetooth, in the services section of your phone (after it scans your PC for services) one of those services should say "Activesync" when you check that and press OK you should be able to freely connect via bluetooth
ok, im gonna do that right now
tnx
in my phone services it appears activesync, but it does not connect, i have in the port com19 and in activesync i have it too but it just doesnt connect

You need to make the port on activesync either 6 or 7 for some reason those were the only two ports for me that appear in WM I am using 6.1 now. Also are you sure that the computer and the phone are both set up to be "visible" to each other? When you do a bluetooth scan from the computer without using activesync can you see the phone? On the phone you just turn on visibility after you enable bluetooth. On your computer I am not sure. Then once they have both established a connection you should be able to see the phone then setup your comports and select activesync as a service. This should enable you to sync bluetooth by selecting it in the menu from activesync. The problem that I am having myself is that when I try to sync the phone between my laptop work--and home the internet explorer favorites get messed up and i am getting an activesync error between files and favorites. What I have been doing is deleting the device and starting fresh however this sucks but at least i always have a backup either the laptop or the desktop
they are both visible, the problem that i have is that i cant use a 6 or 7 port inmy laptop, all the ports that i can make are 14,15,16 etc. so in my computer i cant open the 6 or 7 port
so its pretty crazy
Heres what you do

Can you use the soleil drivers they have always worked well for me i to have had that problem. I ended up deleting everything and starting form scratch that fixed the problem. And yes that means the drivers on the computer. Also make sure that your not running the dell driver(might be toshiba stack) and the windows drivers this will cause conflict.
I am also having all sorts of bs with the Toshiba BT stack... need to find some compatable drivers.
so the thing is, i have to uninstall de dell driver and install a bluesoleil driver???
where do i find it?
i´ve already downloaded a bluesoleil driver but it didnt work

Activesync using 2 computers w/2 OS one xp,one Vista

I had been using 2 computers with xp to sync with until now,, but now I have replaced one of the XP's with Vista.. Any idea whether I can eventually sync information off both PC's.. because of the different versions of Activesync involved?
I dont know, but just do it and let us know if it will work! Did you go a search in this forum to see if it was discussed already?
Works for me
I have a similar set-up (Vista at home, XP at work).
I can sync my Hermes just fine, although i am missing the "sync by category" option the old Active sync 3.8 offered.
Regards,
ARo
I have the same set-up at home..vista laptop,,xp desktop. I only flash with the xp machine and sync with the vista machine. I just don't set up a partnership with the xp machine. Less confusing for me.
I use both. XPSP3 to flash and Vista Ultimate SP1 to sync my contacts, Calendar, ect with.
Could someone actually SYNC data with one device (WM 6.1) between 2 computers - one having XP and ActiveSync, another having Vista and WMDC?
Thx!
