Problem with saved data - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hello everybody i've got and qtek 9090 some days ago but i don't have the batery charger, so i've to revome the battery for a long time and charge it with an universal one, then everytime i losse all saved data and aps (except in storage allowed memory) it that a way to fix this?
i can't find a charger here in algeria so can someone tell me if there is mobile with the same one or give me the schematics to make it ??
thx for everybody in advance

You should first get a USB cable or a USB cradle. Next, do you have an SD card in your Qtek? If you do then it should be able to store the data whether you recharge your pocket pc or not.

thx
i'm trying to fing usb cable here in algeria but no way i think i've to ask someone to bay me it from france just one last chance cuz i wish i'll find it in the capital.
the problem with the data is not only with the one saved in the storage area, but even when i set up apps everytime the battery get empty al the apps i've set up in get removed.
thx for ur help man

Working External Hard Drive for Universal

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280062 Covers it in better detail, but here is the basic idea (fully working on my Exec for a few months now)
WL-HDD with Oleg firmware. Easy to flash, google it.
PSP Emergency Battery (the one i recommend is good, but any battery with an output current greater then 1000mA seems to work)
Resco file explorer
Connect to the hard drive over Wi-fi (looks just like any other AP)
Map the network drive in Resco (tap-hold the network icon in the explorer)
...Thats it. Appears like a storage card, and files you access are streamed to the device unless you choose to copy them.
Works amazingly, just put the hard drive in a bag or in your car, and access at your leisure.
How does it work with music and/or movie files? This really interesting!
Have you used it w/ TCPMP or other movie players? Can you run executables/programs stored on it for your PDA?
i was looking for something like this but cannot find a version that will translate the us dollar amounts.
Meassure of hd

YESSS !!!!! I saw your experience in other post... And finally I bought one. Could you recomend me where to buy a cheap notebook hd in europe?... I am looking for 120 GB or 100 GB... it's ok for you this GB?
Thanks a lot.
The only adequate solution available (AFAIK)
Wi-Fi drives are good but bulky a little bit (and also battery-consuming), however sometime ago I saw some USB hard drive Transcend StoreJet 1.8" OTG USB designed especially for PDAs, MP3 players etc. As far as I recall it had its own battery (up to 4.5 hours operation), so it should work with Universal as well.

Yes, but my solution costs £50-£100, depending on where you get it. The drive is big, but as long as you have a bag its fine, just chuck it in the bottom.

This automatically streams media files when opened off the drive. Not sure about .exe, but i see no reason why not. I know it can open ROMs off it using pocket snes.

According to the link below the device does support PDA, however, the Universal's USB port is meant for charging only and not meant for data transfer unless there's a driver written for it

But don´t work ti me (at the moment)
Hi,
I finally bougth the WL-HDD and a Thosiba Hd 120 GB.... I put the 1.9.2.7-7e Oleg firmeware...
But
1. I don´t know how to access the Wl-hdd, At the moment I can access to the configuration... and conect to it with the universal.
2. Do I have to format the Hard Drive previously?
2. In this case how to format it?
3. I know how wiew in Resco explorer my pc folders... buw I can´t see the Asus...

Yes, the Transcend StoreJet OTG hard disk drive do have 2 modes.
One is for data transfer - In this mode it acts just like any external hard disk connecting to PC and laptops ("Peripheral" mode)
As quoted
“Standalone” mode allows the StoreJet OTG to function as a host into which a huge range of USB devices can be directly connected for information exchange, backup, management and storage.
But this does not mean you can connect directly to the Pocket PC/PDA and perfrom data transfer. For using the USB port of your PDA/Pocket PC for data transfer that USB post has to eb a host whichi you only can find in a few PDAs like the ACER and LOOX. Alternatively, you can buy a CF USB host card to perform the same function.
In fact if you'll to buy any external OTG USB 2.0 hard disk you'll find that they comes with these 2 modes of transfer. FYI, I do own OTG hard disk.
Instead of using the thread starter's WL-HDD Wi-Fi hard disk you can also use Wi-Drive (below) which I'm using
http://www.edslab.com/products.htm
Advantages are that it comes with a built-in battery or you can connect it using an external hi-cap battery pack without using an AC charger. Another thing is that this Wi-Fi hard disk connects DIRECT to your PDA/Pocket PC WITHOUT the need of going through a wireless network

I went to the link you provided and the tab say "Untitled Document"meaning that someone built a site with only one page and you cannot navigate through the site.Although i did do a google search and found the WIDrive but only in overseas markets not here in the United States,Thus expanding my research.I went to Froogle and found several companies that sell them for as low as $95.00.I called the company that i ordered my storejet from and provided the information and they did give me a full refund which i am going to use to purchase the drive that you posted.that is what i really need.Something that i can connect to by wifi and not have to use my home network in order to connect to the drive itself and also freeing up the need to have a ton of cables and cords scattered here and there. So thanks again
Also where did you purchase?i tried several sites and sent out emails but did not find something or someone that gave me suffice information about the wi-drive.Also ,can you use the wifi on your phone to connect to the drive without the need for a network service?Like if you or on the interstate and want to connect to the drive without cables? It does not state on the site or with anyone i spoke to.I am in the united states and would like to know where to get one from .as a soon as you get a chance to reply.

I've no problem accessing Wi-Drive site. BTW, Pocket IE don't work well with this drive if you're using with your PDA. You need OPERA to work.
Some pointers include you'll need to purchase your external battery pack if you need to use it outdoor for longer than the specified time. The drive's AC adapter output voltage is 5V and the current is 2A. 2A is a lot of current for fast charging from any battery pack.
What I learnt from their engneer sometimes back is that they're looking into a 60GB version and an external battery pack too.

I think there's a timezone difference. Singapore is on the east while USA is on the west.
Try ond day later. Have you try faxing? Lastly, make a long distance call
Just remember that Singapore is 12hrs ahead of USA (I think so)

USB doesn't work???

Can someone please help? I just bought a used P3300 from ebay (a wholesaler). The phone works great, absolutely everything works except for the activesync over USB. The phone is not even seen by the computer with or without activesync. I have tried it on several computers with the same issue, yet the battery charges through the USB cable.
I even reflashed the ROM using the SD card method and still have the same issue. What might be going on here??? How can the USB data connection be not working? I've never experienced this with many different phones I've had.
thanks,
Go to Settings, Connections, USB to PC, and untick Enable advanced network functionality.
I tried that, it didn't make a difference. I also tried both Activesync 4.5 and 4.2. Still nothing. I hard reset and soft reset several times - still nothing.
What Firewall is on your PC. Could be this causing the hassle.
Have you tried using a known-working usb lead?
I had this problem also to begin with, google an application called "USBKILLER" and put this .CAB onto your memory card and load this onto the phone.
When your in the application select SERIAL and click YES and this should resolve your problem - I am not sure why this happend but my mate who has the same phone does not have this problem and can resolve it by removing the check box in USB to PC settings
hey guys.... thanks for the input. My firewall is disabled - I read the Microsoft article regarding the ports Activesync uses. But AS works with my other phones, so I know that's not the problem. Same thing with the USB cable. It works with the other phones but not this one.
nicko666, I will try that USBkiller program later tonight. Thank you for the suggestion. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Found USBkiller Cab File Attached - good luck
I tired the USBkiller program (found it myself earlier) but it also doesn't make a difference. I tried changing the setting to SERIAL in the program and also playing with the "advanced network functionality" and activesync connection settings and it's a no-go.
Still nothing works. Do I have a broken device?
hardware problem
i had the same problem after 1 month of using my p3600 i pay 59 euro to change it because the garanty not include this problem.the service told me that it was my fault !!!!
Hello. Is your PPC detected by Windows in the manager of peripheral? It is necessary that you look at if you have a new network card named "Windows Mobile".
I had that problem. I am sorry, but I think you bought a used and not-functional phone. The problem is probably due to high power that the phone got, probably when charging it through a car-charger. You should NEVER connect the phone to a car charger and then start the car - the power can damage the USB connection. You should always first start the engine and only then connect the phone to the charger.
Anyway, I had the same problem - the USB could charge the phone, but no Active Sync connection. I sent my phone to HTC UK, and after one week I got it back with a new board (they replaced the whole inside of the phone). Free of charge.
If this is the situation with your phone - no software solution will help you.
Damn, that sounds like what's going on with my phone. How do I find out how to have it serviced? I can't find anything on the useless HTC site. Please help....
And thanks to you all for the help so far.

I remember sending them mail regarding the problem, via HTC site (mail: [email protected]).
After all the solutions they suggested didn't work, they called me and asked me to send the phone to the UK (they gave me all the details and were very nice and efficient). I must say that my phone was still at warranty period.
this may sound silly, but have you tried the usb ports on the back of the computer?
for some reason, the usb headers on my motherboard don't seem to recongise the phone, i'm not sure if theres no enough power or what, i've onbly tried the cable in a laptop and that works fine...if i plug them in the front usb ports i get the error in windows 'Your device has malfunctioned, Replace the Device and Try Again' or something very simular, tried the other usb header on the board, same problem, back ports, no problem...all other usb devices work fine in all the ports!
Dear all.
I work for a company that has over 600 of the htc p3300. Some of them will work in the usb and some don't.
I have 4 at the moment, 2 of them will work with the usb and the other 2 won't........
Tries all the stuff mentioned here and nothing helps.
Can't update them because of the usb........
HTC are not a lot of help either......

Hi I had been trying to sort this problem out too, and after reading about starting cars with the device on charge I thought I was doomed. But what stead suggests has just worked for me too. I was using the nearest USB on my laptop but plugin it in round the back has just got it working again. The last time it synced it was 'Repairing' the Active Sync 4.5 setup program run through. I must admit that the cable into the phone is also resting on a pen at the base of the phone- just to make sure....

XDA Bricked, no visible solution

Hi all
This is my first post but i have been reading in the forums for a couple of days to see if i can work out how to fix my pride and joy by myself.
I tried to upgrade to WM6 and it seemed to halt mid update and i lost my active sync, it was only a few seconds into the update and i stupidly left the sd card and sim card in the device, this may have been the problem. I can get to the boot loader screen as i can see serial and v1.00 on the grayed out screen. I see USB in place of serial in the boot loader screen when i connect the USB lead and also hear the connection sound on my computer. I know that active sync is working as i have connected my c500 smartphone to check. I have also reinstalled Windows mobile device center. I have also tried to connect on my XP lappy and when i try to start mtty 1.42 it blue screens my lappy (anyone else seen this or have a solution?)
Main thing is can i use an SD image to flash a new rom
If not how can i get active sync to see my device
anyone know a good repair shop in the UK
I really have hunted the forums for an answer to this problem but can't readily find a solution any help gratefully received. Also reassurance that my XDA is not totally dead would be nice.
XDA EXEC
Running boot loader screen only
trying to restore using Vista and Windows XP pro
Yu have not been reading verry well!!!
That is easy to fix, just read WIKI
Disable usb in active synh!!!!
Hi thanks for the speedy reply, but i did try disabling the USB connection in active sync and nothing altered. I may be missing something tho so will have another look at the WIKI. Maybe it's because im using Vista, reason being that my lappy running XP is blue screening, would i be better using the lappy and fixing the mtty problem? If you could give me a link to the easy fix so i could find it a little faster. I really wanted to sort this out myself but i am also concerned that my pda is screwed and although all you maybe see a lazy n00b that hasn't read the site very well i have put in a large number of hours reading, i admit flashing firmware is not something i do every day and im a little out of my comfort zone and a few pointers would be very much appreciated.
I have some staff in my folder wich helped me in any problem situation i have ever been.
Try to borrow someonce PC...
Dont use hubs.
Use the same USB port for the whall proces
Done all of those but still no active sync connection! Is there some way the profile for the PDA in active sync can be removed to allow a clean install? Or can i flash some way with the SD card and avoid Active Sync altogether?
I appear to have sorted the problem now. It would seem that the IR port was conflicting with my active sync connection, i was getting a blue screen and a message about ircomm.sys when i disabled the virtual IR port in control panel my pda connected to the mity application without any problems. Hope this will help someone else that is stuck on the same problem.

mini usb and micro sd card slot problem...need help plz

First time poster here. I've owned my htc excalibur for a 1.5 years now running WM6 Kavana (got instructions off of youtube). for about 6 months now, my micro sd card slot hasn't been working. I tried using other micro sd cards and still nothing. My card works perfectly fine when I put it into my laptop too.
The second problem is that when I connect my excalibur to my computer, I don't get access to it like another drive so I can't get my pictures off of it or load on new music or docs. I have windows vista on my computer (unfortunately).
Thanks for any and all help!!
Wow this is weird. I have none of the problems you face.. I don't get how the Micro SD card isn't working. I actually bought a new 2GB card on thursday, and it works just fine. Don't know if this helps, but I'm running the Rose rom, and I'm also using Windows 7 beta. Do you think your problem is related to your computer's/phone's settings? I think you have to enable Advanced network functionality. Again, I have no issues..
i used to get both of those screen's too but for some reason now it wont recognize the phone is attached. i can still charge it by attaching it to my computer but no drive recognition. can you explain the advanced network functionality please?

On your phone, head off to Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC>Check enable advanced network functionality. If that doesn't work, I don't know what will.

Setting---->Connection---->USB to PC

nope that was the first thing i tried... this is my third touch and the previous two had it out the box... bought the one on craigslist for 50 brand new so i dont se why this wont work. hate using my damn sd card adapter
try moving the plug to another usb port on the computer. that fixed mine.
