Registry tweak to hide connection status? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I've looked and search but can't seem to find it.
It is a reg tweak that will permanently hide the "connecting...." pop-up.
If anyone knows where that reg key, be really great.
Thanks

How can I disable volumen Icon???

Hi, i have my 8525 with custel 2.5 and i would like to know if there is any way to disable the volumen icon from the main screen. is there any reg edit that i can use for this???
Thanks!
Dunno about Reg entries but Wisbar lets you edit the position of icons at the top, as well as whether they show at all.
It's an option - lots of other software options too without Reg hacks.

Tried everything -Remove System Tray/Start Bar

So I've spent the past couple HOURS looking how to remove the system tray or start bar from my Excalibur. I've tried all VJ's tools, dcinobar, the init_tray.lnk from the start menu or /windows/startmenu (removing that link if you can find it will remove it), wisbar, searching the registry for what would work for the Wing, tried PMC Today Shrink, tried HKLM\init\Launch92:TrayAp.exe, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/ Tray/app, and I can't seem to either find the correct registry entry, program (all aren't for smartphones), and right now i'm searching through the xml file for the Kaiser tweat hoping to find something...
I'm trying to squeeze the extra home screen real estate by removing it but keeping the soft keys active...does anyone have any ideas of what file to remove or what registry entry to edit/remove or program that will accomplish this?
This forum rocks and I'm really hoping for some help.
Thanks!
try using smarttool kit, just google it and you will find it, you might like it... makes it like a vista style menu
You need to learn basic coding skills for editing the homescreen XML scripts (edit via PC using any text editors).
Edit the XML files for the homescreens (located at "\Application Data\Home\" folder. Just remove the code for the system tray plugin, and you're set to go.
As for the start bar, I'm still trying to figure out (just learned how to edit XML scripts couple of hours ago). Will inform you ASAP once I know how to.
Below is an example of such code. The plugin class ID (plugin clsid) for the system tray (iconbar) is the same for every smartphones (probably the same for all WM5/6 phones).
Code for system tray :
<plugin clsid="{837FC251-FE69-43ad-84E0-EBCEDEBA0884}" name="iconbar" height="27">
<iconbar fgcolor="COLOR_HOMEHIGHLIGHTTEXT"/>
<background gradient="title" bgcolor="COLOR_TRAYGRADLEFT" b-border-color="transparent"/>
</plugin>
Thanks for the replies. I have smart tool kit, and it has a feature to auto-hide it's vista style startbar...but the original start bar is still behind it after it "auto-hides" on the homescreen.
I have to mess around with xml file also...let's all keep each other posted on progress.
My intention is to remove the original startbar and then use smarttoolkits auto hide when a softkey is hit.
Any update on removing the start bar & soft key text from anyone? I'm assuming it's a registry edit?? I just can't seem to find they keys...
Again if anyone has any ideas I appreciate it.
removing the iconbar entry (or disabling it) out of the homescreen.home.xml will only remove the top bar, it will not remove the bottom bar/softkey labels.

Remapping IE and Comm Manager Keys

Well, as the title indicates, I am trying to remap my IE and Comm Manager keys. I remember that on the Excalibur, all I had to do was modify the path of the Short_IE.lnk and Short_Camera.lnk to make them work. That does not seem to be the case with the Cavalier.
I have discovered that the link responsible for the IE button behavior is pie.lnk in the Windows folder. However, when I alter the path of that link to CeleTask, IE opens first and then CeleTask immediately afterwards. Anyway to prevent IE from opening at all?
Also, I am having a difficult time getting the Comm Manager key to work. I tried using this thread with no success:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355141
Any ideas?
I would also like to know the answer, concern
Me too I m looking for this answer can some one help us please?
i really hate that it doesnt have the messaging button like the dash does?
help ?
Same here. I am planning on dedicating the IE button to Messaging, and the Comm Manager button to TaskManager. So far, all I have achieved is getting Messaging to open after IE is opened when pressing the IE button. Kind of annoying.
Noone can shed some light on this?
Bump for refreshment!

How to change the search engine

Hello,
I'd like to change thec search engine on the internet tab of manilla (just above the big globe icon).
Can someone help to find the file, parameter or regkey to change it?
Thanks and have a nice day
this has been discussed quite often. you have to edit the following registry key HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\InternetSeachUrl
i have mine set as "http://www.google.com/m/search?q="
Hi there, I have tried to alter the Reg key as you described but the key is not listed? Should I create it?

[Q] Turn off Soft Keyboard popup

I have a Tilt 2 running the NEW ROM.
I want to disable the automatic pop-up of the soft keyboard, so that I get to decide when I want to use it.
Is there a way to turn this feature off?
I have seen references to making changes to the registry, I assume there is a switch in there somewhere, but how does one access the registry? Is there a hidden program somewhere I could start or do I have to download it?
Thanks,
Richard..
You need to download a registry editor. There are various choices out there. I use Total Commander:
http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
The reg edit that I have seen for preventing the soft keyboard from popping up, helps a little. But it doesn't prevent it in all situations.
As Redpoint mentioned, Total Commander is the preferred file explorer for most of us. Task Manager 3.1 is what I use for mobile registry editing. I do try to avoid doing any editing on my device, though. I rather edit on the PC side with the larger screen and less room for errors. For editing the device's registry from the PC, I use CEReg Editor 0.0.5.3.
For disabling the keyboard, you could try an app that I used to use on WM5 with my old Sable. It says it works with WM6, so give it a shot and see if you like it. It's called Nullkeyboard. All it does is add a blank SIP to your device. Select Nullkb from the SIP input button and you're good to go. Here is the link to the download.
I used Advanced Config. It gives you a nice way to select options and features and then change your registry for you. It is AWESOME for a tweaker. I'm using version 3.3.0.0 and it works great on my Tilt2 original OEM ROM.
Using this app, Under the Input category, change "Auto deply SIP" to disabled.
Okay, I downloaded the nullkeyboard and tried, it but it had no apparent effect.
I also downloaded the Task Manager 3.3 (latest version) and it works. I did a search for "keypad", but none of them appear to relate to controlling the pop-up feature.
Does anyone know what registry entry controls the soft keypad pop-up feature?
Thank you,
Richard..

Did you select the nullkeyboard from the SIP selection window that pops up when you press the right side of the soft keyboard icon?
You should NOT be searching around the registry for things to change without knowing what they are. Doing so can possibly screw up your phone and require a hard reset. You should only apply registry changes you see posted on here, and change them exactly as indicated.
The reg edit to prevent SIP for opening:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip
"TurnOffAutoDeploy" value="1"
NullKeyboard - Oh, is that how it works? Thank you for telling me. It does the job, except for the times I would like to use the keyboard for quik edits, I have to change it back to the regular keyboard first.
REGEDIT - I found the registry key: HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip
but there were no values in it for: TurnOffAutoDeploy
I added the value: "TurnOffAutoDeploy" value="1" (no quotes) with the type REG_SZ and then rebooted the phone. I also changed NullKeyboard back to regular.
This had no effect on the Auto Deploy of the keyboard.
I was hoping the RegEdit would work. The keyboard would be there, but would not pop-up until I wanted it.
If I did something wrong, or you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
Thank you,
Richard..
I think the reg type should have been a DWORD value of 1.
Great! That did it. The keypad stays out of the way and is there if I want it.
Thank you,
Thank you, thank you, thank you, cajunflavoredbob
