I think the best way for all the noobs like me is to search first before posting our query and if we cant find then I think we can ask now, so that we can avoid
some of our seniors here. and we can learn from that also searching and finding some other techniques, apps that we need in our phone.
To top it all this site helps a lot of dash user, because we have a great people around.
Good day!!!
that was the first smart thing i have read here in weeks! jk
but yes, that is exactly what you should do. its only fair. to get the answers that you guys ask, someone had to search for it. i dont like when people want things handed to them. at least TRY first. if you HONESTLY cant find anything, then ask. i dont think anyone here has ever been treated inappropriately. you ask a stupid question, or one that has been asked 1000000 times, and you are asking for a creative answer that might hurt your feelings a bit. forums are not a take/take situation. you have to give what you take. when people have 10 total posts, all of which are asking to walk them through something or to give them something, my first thought is "how about you f**k off?". if you have learned something in your 10 posts, give it back and reply to a few new comers questions. we had to. what makes you better than the rest of us? you get everything spoon fed while we have to do the legwork. F THAT
So I am considering rooting my phone, and I have been poking around and noticed all of the "essential" rooting threads are ages old, I have had my evo 4g for a week, and coming from a noob considering rooting I have a few questions (secondly im sure most of my questions just involve digging, but I am the kind of learner who needs to see everything in one or two places, not 20 or 30 different ones) so here goes my questions...
1. Why should I root, what are the advantages
2. What is the difference between deoxed and odexed
3. what is the step by step guide to rooting (im running snow leopard, but can get access to windows, would prefer to do it in snow leopard)
4. What are roms, kernals...other lingo and definations I need to or should know before rooting
5. what does rooting disable
and 6. Whats the coolest thing i can do once I am rooted
A special thanks to any one willing to take there time and explain these items to me rather then link me to another thread.
you seem like you haven't done any research what so ever.
What OS did you come from?
Yeah, it's kind of important to be willing to read a LOT. Or you probably shouldn't even bother. If you don't wanna read and really examine, then I would just stay stock. Evo is a fine phone stock.
'What's the 'coolest'thing you can do?'
(Aside from reading), I would say, that would be up to you what's coolest.
ROM is read only memory. Kernel, as I understand it, is the resource your ROM relies on to run, and greatly impacts battery life, and various functionalities. And allows for overclocking/undervolting, etc.
Root would disable/disallow you from accepting OTAs directly from Sprint

I have done some reading on it, just as i said everything is spread out, and I have a very difficult time combining stuff from different areas, I am currently using osx, and all of the noob rooting instructions im able to find need files to be modified in windows/linux (osx is unix based)
Read the sticky thread at the top of this Q&A forum. The thread is called "Common misconceptions and useful information." ricsim included some really good pointers at the top of the thread and I have my own contributions at the bottom of the thread. I know you'll probably be a little annoyed by the fact that you have to find your own answers but it's critical that you learn what you're doing to your phone and why. Unless you do you'll turn into the next user who gets flamed for posting something similar to "OMG WHRE r Da GOOGLKE appzzzz" or anything resembling that.
What I'm trying to say is the rest of us learned by researching and we have faith that you can too.
Good luck.

Since i posted this, I have been doing some clicking around, and im very very slowly understanding stuff, i will read through the mentioned thread, and the reason im asking these questions is an attempt to help me understand some more of this, i really dont want to risk bricking my phone (however low the risk is) with out knowing what im doing
I have had about 5 android phones and I got the play(usa). When I got it there wasnt any root for it yet. As u know there is now. My issue is this, with every phone ive had I have never seen so many people willing to help someone root there phone. Untill i got This one. I dont need root but im one of them people who wants to cause I can. I have never bricked any phone ive used. I have altered every smartphone ive used. From winmo to the dare to android The point of these forums is to help one another. Not become rude and say screw you figure it out yourself. You all must remember not all of us are familiar with every aspect of every phone. Im not sure if most of u r so rude because u have no life but carma is a *****. To the dev helping and r willing to share what they know thank you you are and what should be what these forums are built for. Tho some are not able to pay for your time. I will be the one to say thank you without your effort we would not have what we have today. Again thank you. And to the rest take a look at the ass u have become.
You used the [Q] tag even though there was no question...and it's Karma, just saying. I agree though that some members on here are incredibly rude when they could be useful, but still, this thread didn't need the "Question" tag.
[Rant from a person who, in the measure of his possibilities, has contributed to all the developments going on here]
1) Learn to spell your own language, and some lessons on punctuation meanwhile. It is insulting to people who have English as a second or third language (a good share of the users, if not the majority) and have to spend years in cubicles learning English well enough to be understood when English-speaking natives don't even try to make themselves understandable.
2) It's exhausting to read loads of poorly written (and therefore hard to understand) questions about the same topic. It's more exhausting when they're all actually the same question, but the person who asks didn't actually care to search properly for his answer. Of course, he hasn't found an answer because he doesn't want to spend any effort in reading, summarising and extracting the proper lessons, and because in case that he reads and "does his homework", there's a good chance that what he finds is... a poorly written (and therefore hard to understand) question, which deters him from reading further.
3) I have a life. A life that is well spent when I can be helpful to others. When others don't want me to be helpful, and that shows when they don't bother to communicate their needs properly, my life is a bit unhappier. I want to help, so let me. Writing "im one of them people who wants to cause "I can" implies that you're hostile towards my help, or anyone else's. And when this kind of people are hostile, and it's clear that they're hostile towards you because they don't make the basic effort to communicate with you, there's a thin line between giving a grudging answer and sending them to hell.
4) Basic idea: you don't want to be helped, so help yourself. You don't want to read the threads that are already open and telling you all you want to know, so don't ask us to answer to your own thread. You're hostile towards others by not trying to communicate with them, and by expelling what is basically noise: expect hostility and more noise to come back to you. As you very well say, karma is a *****.
[/Rant from a person who, in the measure of his possibilities, has contributed to all the developments going on here]
i did not see the question :S
1. How do you know they don't even try to make themself understandable, you might choose a more suitable word, you 'assume' they don't. Some are better at things than others don't demean people for their spelling nor grammer. I will agree that one should retain from using txt/sms language in posts.
2. Yes this forum is already getting cluttered up with the same questions. If it annoyes you don't click on the thread. If you do then choose to help either way it's written. Point the OP to the other(s) thread(s) or even answer without hostility. You choose how to react.
3. They might be hostile and then you choose to react and choose to return it. If you want to help, then help either way and do it without remarks. What does it matter. If it makes you happier when helping then do it, choose to do it no matter the language, grammr and spelling, hell even the tone. Karma works both ways, what you give is what you recieve. So if I get it right one needs to meet your standrd of spelling and grammer to be helped, that just bs. Help is a gift to others and you don't give anybody anything to expect to get anything back then it's not a gift but a trade. Everybody has a life what has that got to do with it unless you imply that they wasting your time by posting unreadable posts, you choose to read.
4. I agree with you on this, if people won't spend the time on helping themself others won't help them. If they have a hostile tone they'll get that back. That's how karma works. You on the other hand always have a choise on how to react. It's always your choise, so what you give is up to you and not depending on what others might or might not post in a thread.
I understand your point of view on this matter and I'm not saying that meeting people with open arms is easy and not getting annoyed when the same person put up 2-3 threads with the same problem/issue. I react aswell and get annoyed and for a few secs I feel the urge to post a negative response, but I don't. I mean we're all human and have the same reaction. The thing is how you respond to them, how you meet the world on a daily basis
Regards Dousan...
Hope I make myself understandable
e: Karma is not a ***** it reflects what you do and how you act in life
The question (that was answered) is why are some people developing and using sony play so rude. I undetstand getting frustrated because of there ignorance. However, wouldnt it be just as easy to answer there question? More time and effort is spent being an ass that is needed. Nowhere in my article did I say I needed help. No I do not have a rooted phone. not because I cannot but because I myself am waiting for a Oneclick root. I use my phone as my internet. For a 150 mb program it takes about 4 hours to download. Ill wait.
For logseman, im glad it took you forever to read my post. Its less time you can spend being a **** to someone else. For not being able or " hard to understand" you sure was able to to reply with ease. If it means we english - speaking natives have to deal with people like yourself, ill pass. People like you are why the world is the way it is today. Try helping a little more. Next time you get the desire to be an ass while replying, try being helpful, even if the question has been answered. Yes they could be being lazy and not willing to help themselves. But rude reply is Just as lazy and unproductive.

Look I get that. I understand people are sick of the same questions. But directing them where it is or simply saying use search. Is better then some of the stuff I have read. Some ones reply was if you need step by step instructions im not helping you. Your a newbee and shouldn't be rooting. I dont know how to use every program available for android rooting but I can fallow directions. This is how I have rooted all of my smartphones.
If you don't understand why writing poorly and not bothering to state your problem clearly is a hostile act towards the people who potentially want to help you, I don't have anything more to say about this topic.
If I've been helpful to people in this forum, that's for them to decide. Ask Blagus, Mills, Ashergray, Yifanlu... Perhaps I wasn't of great assistance to them, but they will probably say that I've done what was in my reach to help. And perhaps 117 thanks in my counter, without me ever having developed anything, might mean that perhaps sometimes I may be making myself helpful.
I do not wish to argue further. By all means, rape your language, transform your posts into hieroglyphic loads of nonsense which people have to decipher with a Rosetta Stone, only to discover that it's the same question asked 3 threads below. As you can guess, I couldn't care less. But don't try to subvert what's right (asking for help) and what's wrong (being lazy and impolite).
It took me about 2 minutes on this forum to figure out how to root my phone - was a very easy process compared to my previous Acer. As someone who is new to the Play scene this forum is about the same as any other, some helpful, some rude.. I don't see what the issue is...
Just because people are so called "newbs" they post on here thinking they will get the answer quicker than searching themselves. Which is untrue. Sometimes people get flamed, sometimes they get no answer at all and in the time they are waiting for an answer they could have found it with a google search or xda search.
If people dont know how to use xda's search then google it. Googling "rooting xperia play" then clicking on the "More results from forum.xda-developers.com »" shows all the thread related to rooting posted on the xda xperia play fourms.
I fully understand what you are saying and i personally dont see the point in flaming newbs since at one point we all started there. The Xperia Play was my first android phone so i started off knowing nothing and the reason i never got flamed was because if i needed help i would always google it first then use xda search just incase.
People are only rude to those who ask a question that has been answered before...
You come to the forums unwilling to read anything... Instead you post a thread asking for help that already has a guide out 5 threads down....
Did you expect warm welcomes for being lazy?
Yet you are trying to justify that being lazy is the correct way and everyone else should spend time and effort to search an existing thread and link it to your lazy ass...I got two words for you. **** off =D

So..... when did this become an english language forum?
I don't understand why you get so angry that you have to use our superior language.
There was no point of sending the Spanish Armada (which sunk btw) to simply point someone in the right direction.
I'm not angry that I have to use English. I write much more English than Spanish these days. What makes me unhappy is that I have to decipher poor writing, and it's adding insult to injury when the one who writes poorly is a native speaker. That applies to the three languages I happen to know: Spanish, English and German. Writing your own language poorly is a conscious choice when you're all literate (as you write in forums which requires you to know how to read) and perfectly capable of using proper English (as is the case here, since it's a USAn guy and an English sidekick, and you're from NZ), and choosing to write poorly and making yourself hard to understand is disrespectful towards the people who read you.

I agree with this, since people are not writting an SMS there is no reason to write poorly, I actually stop reading the thread at the 3rd line but i saw Logseman reply and got interested
I'm also a "Newbie", my Xperia Play was my first android and I rooted my Play at the first try. You just have to do a quick search and follow instructions step by step. There is always an answer for almost every problem you can have, and if there is a new problem the first ones that will notice are advanced users that will post an answer.

First off no where in my letter did I say I was looking for help. I was only referring to the people who have asked. nor did I say I could not use a search. Yes I am waiting for a one click but because the dev of Verizon version asked if we could refrain from asking for a code and the stuff needed takes to long to download at 76k. No I am not suggesting lazy is the right way however nor is being like you. Is called being nice try it **** bag. First of all, the FORUM RULES should be FOLLOWED
What's inside:
HOW TO MAKE A THREAD
HOW TO MAKE A GOOD POST
HOW TO ASK A GOOD QUESTION
HOW TO MAKE A GOOD POLL
HOW TO MAKE A THREAD
THINK OF A GOOD TOPIC
The best web forum threads are the ones that resonate with forum members. Shoot for something that hasn't been said before.
This will draw their attention, and bring them into your forum thread. The search function is your friend, to double check that your
idea, question, opinion, etc has not already been posted recently.
If you have a unique thread with unique content, you will get a much better response. Also remember that an illiterate thread,
such as "C4n u guyz halp mmeh, i got br!cKd.", will simply scare people off, or cause them to flame.
ADD A CATCHY/ATTRACTIVE TITLE
Your forum thread's title is your one shot at getting forum members interested in your topic. Being able to create an
interesting title is a basic marketing strategy. Titles that work well are often humorous, extremely clever, or just flat out blunt.
Titles should also explain the content of the thread. Creating titles such as "Problem!" or "Sigh..."
do not let members know what the problem is, or what you are sighing about. Make sure your post explains it.
also, you can check Better Titles and Thread Tags! for further details
INCORPORATE A POLL (if necessary)
Everyone has an opinion, and everyone also loves letting their voice be heard. By adding a poll to a thread,
you will encourage people to express their opinion. This often leads to debate, which is always good for the lifespan
of a forum thread, as long as it stays friendly.
Make sure your poll consists of plenty of options. Sometimes a Yes and No aren't enough.
Adding an "Unsure/Undecided" option will help keep a poll 'clean', as it gives members a third choice.
Often when unsure, they will simply pick one, but when given the option of "Unsure",
they will be able to chose what they really feel.
PARTICIPATE IN YOUR THREAD
People often create threads and forget about them. If you are active within your forum thread,
that will help keep it on the first page. This might inspire people to contribute to the thread if
they see the creator still involved with it. This does not in any way mean you should bump or
spam your thread, as that will simply scare or annoy some people away. Make sure your posts
further the constructive discussion, so as to continue on topic.
PICTURES/CODES
Everyone loves pictures. If the cake is a lie, then this fact is the opposite of cake. Are you posting
a support thread, regarding a bug? Post a picture/codes showing the bug! Add a picture that would
simplify/help us understand your problem or thread. Pictures attract people, as long as it keeps on topic.
MAKE READERS INTERESTED
One way to make readers want to continue reading your post is humor. Humor can go a long way, as long
as it makes sense and stays on topic. Pictures also keep interest, as well as a well-organized unique thread.
ORGANIZATION
An organized thread is a good thread. Using quotations, lists, and many paragraphs can make a large
wall of text seem much less intimidating. No one, I'm sure you will agree, wants to read a giant wall of text
with only two paragraphs and three periods. Commas, periods, lists, quotes, paragraphs,
and using clear English will make any thread a winner.
DOUBLE CHECK
Does this thread need to be created? Does it have a point? Have I mentioned everything I need to?
Has a similar thread already been created recently?
ADD TAGS
At the end of a thread, you can see "EDIT TAGS". Add tags to make your thread searchable!
also, you can check Better Titles and Thread Tags! for further details
...Last Step
So, now you're ready to hit that button at the bottom, and post your magnificent beauty, correct? Wrong.
Hit that preview button next to it! Do you have everything mentioned that you wanted to mention?
Is their anything else to add, or unneeded sentences to remove? Is there any typos to be fixed?
Is the thread readable, with paragraphs, periods, commas, and so on? Does the thread look good,
clean and organized? Would >you< want to read this thread, if you were in the shoes of another member?
Now, once you have done all that, it is time to post that wonderful thread of yours for others to see.
Congratulations, you just made a good thread! :highfive::highfive::highfive:
When making a thread, and posting in it, DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING:
-Bump it with pointless posts, such as
"bump"
Click to collapse
,
"+1"
Click to collapse
,
"post people post!"
Click to collapse
, etc.
-Start a fight, simply because you do not agree with an opinion.
Ignore it completely, as this will simply let it die and goes to off topic.
**Now, remember, when making a thread, you do not need to use all of the above suggestions at once.
Too many pictures, jokes, and a poll in one can be overwhelming. You don't want to scare anyone away.
HOW TO POST
When posting in any thread, ask yourself the following:
Does this need to be posted? I often ask myself this question, and more often then not,
realize that the post I was making truly was not needed.
Will this post take the thread off topic, or help continue the constructiveness of the thread?
Will this post be beneficial to the thread?
Have I made my post illegible? Are there any typos? Is this simply a wall of unintelligible text?
Are there any similar posts posted before me? [Thanks ErnuB]
TIP:
NEVER quote a very long post :| unless you think it is necessary to do so.. [Thanks roofrider]
If you're confident you have covered all of the above, then you sir or madam, are ready to post :highfive:
HOW TO ASK A GOOD QUESTION
Now, sometimes you simply want to ask a question. There are many things to do BEFORE asking a question.
here are the following:
Try to find an answer by searching the forums, as many popular questions have already been answered.
Try to find an answer by searching the web for fansites and wikis with information that may help you..
Try to find an answer by reading the FAQ.
Try to find an answer by inspection or experimentation.
Try to find an answer by asking a skilled friend!
When all else fails, begin your question writing. Make sure to point out that you've done all of the above,
so you don't look like a lazy old minotaur! Also, always remember, GOOGLE and the SEARCH BAR ( found at the upper most right) are your BESTFRIENDS
Don't Panic!
Now, it's important not to panic, even if your question seems very important. A panicked question is a bad question.
Prepare Your Question
Think it through. Hasty-sounding questions get hasty answers, or none at all. The more you do to demonstrate
that having put thought and effort into solving your problem before seeking help, the more likely you are to actually get help.
Why isn't anyone helping?
Never assume you are entitled to an answer. You will earn an answer, if you earn it, by asking a
substantial, interesting, and thought-provoking question — one that implicitly contributes to the experience
of the community rather than merely passively demanding knowledge from others. Asking a bad question
will get you a bad answer, or none at all.
Wrong Question, |\|00|3! :|
Beware of asking the wrong question. If you ask one that is based on faulty assumptions, RandomGuy123
is quite likely to reply with a uselessly literal answer while thinking “Stupid question...”, and hoping the experience
of getting what you asked for rather than what you needed will teach you a lesson.
Or they will troll, flame, or insult you, which will get no one no where.
Speak English, not Engrish!
Another mistake is asking a question that is unreadable, written in l33t speak, or missing paragraphs,
commas, periods, and so on. Make sure the question is written clearly, and re-read it again. If no one can
understand the question, no one can answer it.
Should I post in an existing topic?
Make sure to remember, sometimes questions should be in posts, and sometimes in threads. It depends
on if a similar topic is active, and whether the question has been answered before. But remember,
do not hijack a small thread based on a question to begin with. Use your best judgment.
...Last Step
The last thing, is to post it in the correct section. If you have a question, then post it in the Q&A Section!
When asking a question, DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING:
Quote
Post an unreadable or confusing question.
Panic when posting a question, writing it badly and hasty.
Bump your thread, asking "why hasn't anyone helped amahgod!".
Message or email random members begging for help.
Spam your question in multiple threads.
Spam the thread in multiple sections.
Now, go post that awesome question and get an awesome answer!
Here's another good guide:
[Guide/Info] What you need to include to get help
Additional Info: (thanks to It_ler)
If neither the question nor the answer can be found, then you have to find the proper place for posting your question.
Is there a forum for your device, then go to that forum.
Is there a dedicated Question & Answer (Q&A) sub forum, then go there.
Is there a thread for asking / even for new users, with many posts and the last post is from today, then go there and post your question there.
Or is your question/issue related to a special app, the post into the apps thread, is it related to a kernel, find the kernel (discussion) thread, or is it ROM related, then use the ROM thread.
This step is very important, as you have to find a place where your post will be seen by some experienced users which know the answer.
Then check the contents of your post itself.
Please think about the xda rules (no offence, no personal attack, English, etc.).
Describe as much as possible, what might be useful for others to think about the possible cause of your issue and a good solution to fix it or to give your the right answer.
What device/model, what app(s), what firmware version (ROM, kernel, modem, etc.), what was before, what is now, what have you done, what has happened in between, etc.
Maybe not all those information is really needed to solve the issue or give your the answer, but are you sure that it is not relevant?
If you are not sure, then provide this info.
Be polite, stay as "objective" as possible ... most of the time, emotions are not needed to solve the issue
Maybe you say something like "I would appreciate any kind of suggestion, even if it does not help to solve the issue for me.", or "Thanks in advance.".
It's a kind of motivation for other users to be confident to answer your post, even if they are not absolutely sure that it really can solve your issue.
HOW TO MAKE A GOOD POLL
Ask Yourself
Before creating a poll for your thread, ask yourself "Can my question easily be voted on with small answers, or should I simply
allow people to post their opinions without a poll?". Remember, not all threads and questions deserve polls.
Some need to be answered in long posts, or answers that could vary greatly and need more then 20 options.
Create a Poll That Fits
Your poll should fit your topic. Having a topic about if bullhorses are fast enough, and then asking in your poll
"Do Steppe Horses need nerfed?", is not a good first step to getting good, accurate results.
Options Matter
You should always have plenty of answer options. "Yes" and "No" are good to begin with, but you need
to have more then that for accurate results. Someone who is not sure or has a different answer might chose
yes or no, when they would rather chose different.
For "Are bullhorses fast enough?" You could have "Yes", "No", "Undecided/Unsure".
For "Do you think this idea will help?" you could have "Yes", "No", "Undecided/Unsure", "I have a different idea and will post it below."
Do Not Post a Joke Option
Having a joke option, such as "Goat" or "Bewbz" can be funny, but will severely damage the accuracy of the poll results.
Restrain yourself from posting a joke option if you want real results.
Have Good, Easy to Understand Options
Have options that people can chose easily and understand. Using "yes" and "no" rather then "i guess, lol, whateverhahahaha"
and "whatever" will get you more voters and better results by far.

Should I have a cookie before work?
If you're confident you have covered all of the above, then you sir or madam, are ready to post :highfive:

I would add one more question, has anyone else posted the same?
particularly when you're answering a question

HOW TO ASK A GOOD QUESTION
...

Just as a small addition:

For the past few years, I have been using Samsung phones, and have gotten accustomed to the tools need to root and rom with them. Friday, I am planning on using my JUMP upgrade to ditch my S4 for the M8, but I need to ask a few questions in preparation:
1) I see that S-OFF is far from a guarantee... what will I be unable to do without S-OFF? I don't care at all about AOSP-based roms, and I plan on sticking with Sense based, but it would be nice to have the option of putting a GPE-based rom on there, but this would not be a deal breaker.
2) What are some of the common pitfalls with this device, aka, how might I end up bricking it? I accidently wiped the IMEI on my GS3 when I first got it because I managed to miss the warnings about this in the forums, and don't want a repeat of that.
dont take this wrong, but these things have been asked and answered dozens, if not hundreds of times here already; you say are "accustomed" to the tools to root and rom; if thats the case, then surely you know how to search these threads; plus you've been a member here for a few years, so, you certainly know how to find things..
what REALLY caught my eye was the fact you posted a question about S-off, and there is a 35+ page thread about it, WITH THE ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTION, RIGHT IN THIS SECTION..
First of all, I don't think that my questions were at all unreasonable. Yes, there are plenty of threads on here about how to obtain S-OFF, but I am still having a great deal of difficulty determining what exactly I will be missing if I am unable to obtain it. My second question (which you in no way addressed) is one that can in no way shape or form be satisfactorily answered by searching a forum -- it is specifically in reference to the things that one might miss by searching alone.
Secondly, I want to add that comments like yours are like cancer to a web forum. If a question has been answered, you tell people to use the search function. Every time another thread pops up, you repeat the same mantra. Eventually, all searches lead to a graveyard of threads saying nothing more than "Use the search function". If it is so trivial, just provide a link, and the whole forum will be healthier for it.
as I said, both of these concerns have been addressed multiple times; what makes you think that YOU are entitled to a personal answer to your questions, when they have been answered endless times? No one here owes you a personal, customized answer to anything, especially someone who obviously doesn't contribute anything to the community?(one thanks/11 posts in 3 years)
secondly, it posts like YOURS that are a cancer to XDA; this forum used to be for developers, advanced android users, and folks who actually wanted help to LEARN about Android; instead it has become a place for N00bs, lechers, "Do it for me" types, who for some reason, think that just because they are too lazy to bother to try to figure out their own issues, or even SEARCH for it, are entitled to have their questions answered, and problems solved FOR THEM.
do you think I got over 3000 thanks because I am a cancer here, or because I go out of my way to help others?
learn how to be self sufficient, come here and HELP OTHERS out, and when you need a hand with something, folks will want to help you.
and, for the love of god, learn how to search for answers here and on other forums on the internet!
Again, as I said before, my second question is quite directly something which cannot be searched. It was directly asking for things that a user could overlook when searching for answers. I know it feels good to be smug about how much you know, but every time you reply to a post with "use the search function" you have made the search function a little bit less useful and have created another dead end for people looking for answers. I am not active on this particular forum, but I am very active elsewhere, and when I see posts that I feel have been answered I still try to point people in the right direction, as not doing so is not only petty and pointless, but is ultimately destructive to the whole community.

Dude, you need to search and read. I figured out a lot on my own coming from Samsung and nexus phones. Some of the stuff you're asking is a live and learn thing if you're too lazy to read. You're just wanting to leach and be hand held.
