I have just bought an MDA Compact III (Artemis) with WM5 sold as unlocked. If I can use any SIM card and all nets, can I assume that it is superCID and proceed with WM6 flashing from microSD with any WM6 rom find in this forum?
No if i'm not mistaked simUnlocked and CID unlocked are different.
I had a CIDunlocked device but still needed to use the USLP method to flash my new ROM.
Read the sticky first post and download the required tools form here

Thanks for your quick reply. The PDA should be simunlocked and also netunlocked. CID unlocked is not the same as netunlocked?
Nope, it is not. NetLock is T-Mobile's very own name for SIMLock... All their devices come with NetLock now, which means they do not accept SIM cards other than T-Mobile. So if you have a net unlocked device, you can use it with any carrier, but it still may be CID Locked.
Thanks for your help. The PDA works with all SIM cards and al nets.
I will use the USLP method anyway.
hi mate! did you manage to flash your compact III with WM6? i want to upgrade mine as well but not sure what to do?

I've flashed my MDA Compact III successfully. (I've unlocked it previously through IMEIcheck.co.uk)
If your's is unlocked (Netlock, Simlock) than you should be able to flash it right away with 4.1. For the other ROMs I'm not shure, you should maybe run USPL first..
I also flashed my MDA Compact III With German O2 WM 6 ROM, but i also had it unlocked via Imei-check.co.uk, both CID and NETLock were Removed... Again, your Device might be free for any SIM Card, than it is NETunlocked but could still be CID Locked. So i would recommend you to run USPL first, before trying to install any ROM

newbie here. and yes I did my search and read about this topic. but you know things do change w/ new ROM and blah blah blah.
currently I am a cingular user - MediaNet package. I am very interested on the TMobile Dash. I do know that in order to work on other carrier, the phone needs to be unlock. One thing I didnt know until I read here is that there are two types of unlocking.. SIM unlock and the CID unlock. I also read that CID unlock i would have to pay for and the SIM unlock I can use the Application software (link i found in here - i think its dead now or network busy).
How easy is to unlock the phone? reading here you guys mentioned about flashing the ROM to HTC.
I havent purchased the phone yet.... just need to know my opinion before making a purchase and not have to scratch my head before actually get to use the phone.
thank you.

I think you lost me. can you simple that explain again. thanks.
to re flash your device with different ROM then the one you have at the moment require SIM, CID and Aplication UnLocked Device.App UnLock is free btw.the CID and SIM lock you can do it for 20GBP or for free if you know the guy who does it for 20GBP
then you need to get hold of the ROM you want to flash and flash it.
i had US t-mobile dash and flashed it with HTC s620 ROM @

EDIT: good guide here :

Thank you everyone... i am now a DASH owner... w/ Cingular services. heheh!
Just curious if the SIM is unlocked before flashing the ROM, will it still be unlocked after flashing the ROM?
Can Someone create a program?
I'm not sure how the unlock codes are generated or if they are just random, but my question is If someone who is good at algorithms looks at some of the IMEI and the associated unlock codes could there be a program written that basically generates Unlock codes by using that algorithm?

Hi Guys and Gals,
so spend all day surfing through this postings here and could not find a reliable way to put the T-Mobile WM6 update on to my Original unbranded and UNLOCKED HTC 620.
Found one post about using some patching including IMEACHECK as the passwod... but can use that as it talks about unlocking , which I dont need ... or do I...
Thnaks for all the help in advance as this will hopefully not only me, but also others seeking to do the same...
Cheers
Hi,
you can do the update in the exact way described here (you need the imeicheck unlocker and a unlock key for your mobile).

Thats the one I am refereing to it dont work... still said that i need another updater...
does any one else know how to get this done
Can you tell what's the steps you are taking and what's giving the error in details? I upgraded two units with the process and have no issues.
Keep in mind, unlocking the phone via imei-check or other sources is necessary, as you need to CID unlock the unit, which the unl file and dashv2unlock.exe does. My units were both SIM unlocked, but for the upgrade process you have to CID unlock it too, as you are using a ROM from a different provider. Also don't forget to patch the updater and nbh files, exactly as listed.

I did all mentioned including the patching of the files except the unlock part as my device came straight from HTC. Are u meaning that although this is direct from HTC that I still have to go through some unlocking steps ?
what is this unl file and the dashv2unlock.exe ????
Thanks
Yes, as I stated in my previous post, your device needs to be CID unlocked, and HTC devices are CID locked (SIM lock or in other words network provider lock is different, I know HTC devices are SIM unlocked).
CID locking will prevent you to apply different provider released ROMs. Simply go to http://www.imei-check.co.uk/dashunlock.php (or another Dash CID unlock provider), supply your IMEI, make the payment, and you'll receive access to two files:
dashv2unlock.exe - The application to run on PC to fully unlock the unit
yourimeinumber.unl - Unlock file generated by imei-check, specific to your unit's IMEI number
And follow the info to the point. It will work then. I used it on two Rogers HTC S621 units, both were SIM unlocked, CID locked.
I have been searching the net and the forums on help how to do this. Most of what I have found is specific for the HTC and T-mobile dash models, but not seen anything for the orange SPV E600.
I have unlocked the phone with Dashv2unlock program I bought, and tried "RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly" and then tried "RUU_Excalibur_TMO_US_1.22.531.4_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Ship"
Both of these give me a INVALID ID error.
I am suspecting my phone has only been SIM-unlocked (I can use my O2 sim card), but not CID-unlocked? I thought these programs do both?? Do I need a separate program to CID unlock?
Is this a problem specific to the orange SPV E600?
What am I doing wrong????
You phone is CID Locked,
Unfortunately, there's still no free way to CID Unlock an Excalibur, CID Unlock your phone here (USD 38.00):

original poster said he/she bought the Dashv2unlock program !!! ... which is a free program that works on the "PAID" UNL file for the specific IMEI ...
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/dashunlock.php
therefore ... I think that the unlocking procedure wasn't done correctly ...
just my $0.02

LOL, that's what i get when i don't get to read and understand the query.
I agree, unlocking procedure wasn't done correctly.
Thanks guys. I actually went through www.imei-check.co.uk before, and as you correctly pointed out I bought a .unl file specific to my IMEI code, went through the screens just like shown on the website but although my phone will now take my O2 sim, it is still giving me an INVALID ID.
Has anyone succesfully done this with an SPV E600??
Is there a step missing somewhere? I read somewhere about having to run the unlocker program twice, which I have tried with no luck still.
Yay it works!
Ok, just to update.
I managed to update my rom to with the "RUU_Excalibur_HTC_RUS_1.24.411.1_4.1.13." rom instead and this was without having to flash a bootloader to begin with.
So if there are any SPV E600 users out there, the above rom works VERY VERY WELL.
Hi everyone,
i am new to Hermes site, i used to have wizard and knew how to unlock or flush any rom to that phone.
Tomorrow i am getting cingular 8525 which i am planning to use in T-mobile here in US. the phone I am getting is going to be refurbished phone. At&T is replacing the phone purchased back in February of this year.
I know I have to unlock it before I use it with t-mobile. I have read two ways of unlocking it one way is using HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a.zip file but at the same time I read about this way "SIM-Unlock SoftBank X01ht post April (white versions) with radio 1.14.01.10".
since the phone will be refurbished phone, should I treat it as new out of bax when unlocking it? which way should I chose to unlock?
I only have T-mobile sim card, do you think i will need at&t sim card to unlock this phone?
after the unlock I am planning to upgrade it to wm6 and I saw many good roms here: Official HTC rom, Black Magic, Black Satin...which one of these would you guys recommend me to use?
Thank you in advance.

so many views no reply?
can any one give suggestions?
Use the HTC Hermes SIM_CID_Unlock v3a. Worked like a charm for me. It will CID and SIM unlock so you can install whatever rom and use whatever carrier you wanted. You don't need an ATT sim to unlock it either...just follow the step by step instructions that come with the unlocker.
I used the Hacked Radio Version way to unlock mine
worked exactly as it said
and then i SuperCID mine...or you could just use OliPRO
Hi there,
i have one question:
I recently bought a already unlocked o2(ger) Version of the Diamond.
It came with the original 1.37 o2 Rom
However i was able to update it to the original o2(ger) 1.93 Version but i dont dare to flash any cooked rom or other version because i dont know how the phone was unlocked.
Is there a way for me to find out how it has been unlocked?
And is there a way to lock it again if i encounter a warranty issue?
You could insert another network sim.
My o2 Diamond came unlocked straight from the o2 webstore. If you want to revert it to factory setting again, just reflash it with a stock radio, ROM and SPL - instructions are all over this forum.
If its already unlocked why do you want to worry about warranty issues.
And if you worry about warranty, why do you dare to flash any cooked rom?

You might encounter warranty issues only if you flash and even this is very rare. Mostly they do not check for these.
If it came unlocked already from your provider , then you need not worry about your warranty.
I think its unlocked for the sim.
This has nothing to do with roms.
I think he thinks its unlocked for roms
Grtzzz
1st: Thank you all for trying to help.
What i really want ton know is: Can i only flash o2 Roms or can i use any Diamond Rom now. I thought i hav read an article about vendor specific unlocking but i cant find the article anymore.
Sorry but You can't. You have unlocked SIM but CID is locked.
So You can use only o2 roms from original country.
