Hi Guys and Gals,
so spend all day surfing through this postings here and could not find a reliable way to put the T-Mobile WM6 update on to my Original unbranded and UNLOCKED HTC 620.
Found one post about using some patching including IMEACHECK as the passwod... but can use that as it talks about unlocking , which I dont need ... or do I...
Thnaks for all the help in advance as this will hopefully not only me, but also others seeking to do the same...
Cheers
Hi,
you can do the update in the exact way described here (you need the imeicheck unlocker and a unlock key for your mobile).

Thats the one I am refereing to it dont work... still said that i need another updater...
does any one else know how to get this done
Can you tell what's the steps you are taking and what's giving the error in details? I upgraded two units with the process and have no issues.
Keep in mind, unlocking the phone via imei-check or other sources is necessary, as you need to CID unlock the unit, which the unl file and dashv2unlock.exe does. My units were both SIM unlocked, but for the upgrade process you have to CID unlock it too, as you are using a ROM from a different provider. Also don't forget to patch the updater and nbh files, exactly as listed.

I did all mentioned including the patching of the files except the unlock part as my device came straight from HTC. Are u meaning that although this is direct from HTC that I still have to go through some unlocking steps ?
what is this unl file and the dashv2unlock.exe ????
Thanks
Yes, as I stated in my previous post, your device needs to be CID unlocked, and HTC devices are CID locked (SIM lock or in other words network provider lock is different, I know HTC devices are SIM unlocked).
CID locking will prevent you to apply different provider released ROMs. Simply go to http://www.imei-check.co.uk/dashunlock.php (or another Dash CID unlock provider), supply your IMEI, make the payment, and you'll receive access to two files:
dashv2unlock.exe - The application to run on PC to fully unlock the unit
yourimeinumber.unl - Unlock file generated by imei-check, specific to your unit's IMEI number
And follow the info to the point. It will work then. I used it on two Rogers HTC S621 units, both were SIM unlocked, CID locked.

My excalibur is not original locked, i want to upgrade to wm6, but when i try to upgrade, i got a message error `[244].
Is not possible to upgrade if the phone is not a t-mobile dash?
Thanks
Run the installer again once you get that error message. Should be fine.
i think doesnt works, the same message error; invalid model....
thanks
Ahhh, invalid model ID! Sorry, I must have misunderstood... You need to download the bootloader upgrade first.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/smartphones/Excalibur/RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe
Run that and then try upgrading.
I don't know where that bootloader downgrade came from but whoever did it deserves a medal.
Allowed me to go from T-Mobile WM6 back to HTC s620. Without it, I'd have been screwed.

Hi,

if this Update SPL 1.11 also doesn't work you'll have to unlock with IMEI-check and do this steps
but my pne is free
my phone is free, i have shop without any operator, original unlocked.
Thanks
it coud works with the modifid update with imeicheck?
I have modified these two parameters, but i have not unlock code because my htc-620 is original unlocked.
thanks in advance
The unlock which is necessary is to set the phone in "engineering mode" so that it accepts every ROM. This has nothing to do with SIM or net lock.
IMEI check sets your phone into that mode to remove SIM/net lock.
So it's a 2in1 unlock.
So even your phone accepts every SIM you have to unlock it to this engineering mode with IMEI-check. ATM there is no other known method to do this.
then, i need to send my imei to imeicheck to unlock in order to access to the engine mode?
Thanks!!
newbie here. and yes I did my search and read about this topic. but you know things do change w/ new ROM and blah blah blah.
currently I am a cingular user - MediaNet package. I am very interested on the TMobile Dash. I do know that in order to work on other carrier, the phone needs to be unlock. One thing I didnt know until I read here is that there are two types of unlocking.. SIM unlock and the CID unlock. I also read that CID unlock i would have to pay for and the SIM unlock I can use the Application software (link i found in here - i think its dead now or network busy).
How easy is to unlock the phone? reading here you guys mentioned about flashing the ROM to HTC.
I havent purchased the phone yet.... just need to know my opinion before making a purchase and not have to scratch my head before actually get to use the phone.
thank you.

I think you lost me. can you simple that explain again. thanks.
to re flash your device with different ROM then the one you have at the moment require SIM, CID and Aplication UnLocked Device.App UnLock is free btw.the CID and SIM lock you can do it for 20GBP or for free if you know the guy who does it for 20GBP
then you need to get hold of the ROM you want to flash and flash it.
i had US t-mobile dash and flashed it with HTC s620 ROM @

EDIT: good guide here :

Thank you everyone... i am now a DASH owner... w/ Cingular services. heheh!
Just curious if the SIM is unlocked before flashing the ROM, will it still be unlocked after flashing the ROM?
Can Someone create a program?
I'm not sure how the unlock codes are generated or if they are just random, but my question is If someone who is good at algorithms looks at some of the IMEI and the associated unlock codes could there be a program written that basically generates Unlock codes by using that algorithm?
Edit/Delete Message
I have been searching the net and the forums on help how to do this. Most of what I have found is specific for the HTC and T-mobile dash models, but not seen anything for the orange SPV E600.
I have unlocked the phone with Dashv2unlock program I bought, and tried "RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly" and then tried "RUU_Excalibur_TMO_US_1.22.531.4_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Ship"
Both of these give me a INVALID ID error.
I am suspecting my phone has only been SIM-unlocked (I can use my O2 sim card), but not CID-unlocked? I thought these programs do both?? Do I need a separate program to CID unlock?
Is this a problem specific to the orange SPV E600?
What am I doing wrong????
You phone is CID Locked,
Unfortunately, there's still no free way to CID Unlock an Excalibur, CID Unlock your phone here (USD 38.00):

original poster said he/she bought the Dashv2unlock program !!! ... which is a free program that works on the "PAID" UNL file for the specific IMEI ...
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/dashunlock.php
therefore ... I think that the unlocking procedure wasn't done correctly ...
just my $0.02

LOL, that's what i get when i don't get to read and understand the query.
I agree, unlocking procedure wasn't done correctly.
Thanks guys. I actually went through www.imei-check.co.uk before, and as you correctly pointed out I bought a .unl file specific to my IMEI code, went through the screens just like shown on the website but although my phone will now take my O2 sim, it is still giving me an INVALID ID.
Has anyone succesfully done this with an SPV E600??
Is there a step missing somewhere? I read somewhere about having to run the unlocker program twice, which I have tried with no luck still.
Yay it works!
Ok, just to update.
I managed to update my rom to with the "RUU_Excalibur_HTC_RUS_1.24.411.1_4.1.13." rom instead and this was without having to flash a bootloader to begin with.
So if there are any SPV E600 users out there, the above rom works VERY VERY WELL.
Hi every one, my phone model is HTC Hermes 8525 locked to Att. Now it is in original box with Windows Mobile 5. I want to unlock it first. I have read articles on this BBS and aware that if I want to do future Rom flashing things I might need both SIM and CID unlocked. At same time I found several unlock code provider on Ebay.com. Now the questions come up.
1) Is Unlock code got via Ebay only for SIM unlock, or it is for both?
2) Is there any risk for such kind of unlock code for my phone? What's the worst outcome for using unlocker software downloaded here?
3) If I don't unlock my CID, can I still upgrade my phone with WM6? What specific ROM of WM6 shall I use?
4) Any other suggestion is welcomed, Ad's also.
Thanks a head

Hi and welcome to xda-developers forum!
1) I think this "unlock code" will provide you an ability to disable/re-enable SIM Lock/Operator Lock, not CID Lock (as it's platform specific and required to flash unofficial ROMs)
2) The worst is device will become brick. But it could occur only if you download and flash wrong ROM.
3) No, if it's unofficial. If HTC provided a WM6 update to Hermes (I don't remember), it could be flashed.
Good luck

What phone do you have?
Hi all, I recently bought a new htc one m8 on vodafone ireland. I'm on a different provider so i bought an unlock code on line and it didn't work i got (incorrect password). I haven't registered the phone on any network as of yet (its brand new). My question is, Do i need to activate the phone on vodafone first, Then put in a working foreign sim to unlock with code i received from online provider?
Generally speaking, no, you don't. If it came from them, then it's already locked to them by default. You just need to enter the proper unlock code with the new sim. Another option to consider is that pretty much all M8s can be made s-off now(albeit for a small fee for the app that does it). Once you're s-off, you can just sim unlock it yourself without the need to purchase any codes. That's what I did. The instructions are here in the forums.

Thanks, Thats what i thought. The provider i bought the unlock code from told me to activate the phone on vodafone, Then put in a foreign active sim and it should work. But i put the code in incorrect 4 times, twice cause i thought i put it in incorrect and another 2 times to record it(take pictures to get a refund for wrong code). Do you know how many times you can enter the incorrect code before blocking the phone?
To be honest, I'm not really sure...I want to say about 5-10 depending on your device, but again, I'm not really sure.

If you go with SunShine to S-Off you don't need to unlock using HTCDev, as the latest version of SunShine performs the unlock as well as the S-Off without HTC knowing and without loosing APPs in /data such as calculator and flashlight.
