I am with Rogers here in Canada.
Upgraded to Radio 1.51 (1.48 and 1.50 seemed to have lags). I have tries several different WM6 bins including Official HTC ROM..
All seemed well until I decided to use constant DATA connection for PUSH email. Email is working great, but now I have noticed if I have BT on (with my headset) plus 3G, I get disconnected calls CONSTANTLY. if I turn of 3G all is well. Havn't tried without the BT headset yet to see if thats a problem.
Basically I have two questions.
1) Has anyone else noticed this
2) I came across a link with many RADIO downloads, and cannot seem to find it again. Can somone point me in the right direction to them? I would like to try 1.43 or 1.5 again.
Anyone have any NEW suggestions for ROGERS?
Thanks..
Draven

It's all in the Wiki. Try 1.47.00.10 radio. It's the most stable radio I've come across and I've tried them ALL.
Thanks ericc,
You saved me a lot of looking around. I know I saw them somewhere, just couldn't remember exactly where.
I was using Radio 1.50 with ok results but was getting dropped calls in certain areas of town so I decided to try 1.51. Anyone find simular problem?
What a disaster. I could no longer get data to work at all. I could not get on internet or email. I tried flashing 1.51 a second time from a fresh download with same result. As soon as I flashed the old 1.50 radio I was able to get data to work again. Data is quite fast as I am using a bluetooth connection between my Herm100 and my new Lenovo laptop with excellent speed and reliability. Now if I can get the phone to only stop dropping calls (always happens at same locations).
Phone: AT&T 8525 Herm100

RADIO -- what's it function?
Hello just a nube questions here.
RADIO, besides call quality, what else does it effect.
I had Radio 1.48 for a while, and it was working great until my recent upgrade ROM, then i realized that it was time to change the radio. I like the ROM very much.
So i did radio change from 1.48 to 1.47
then on another post, i was told to get the RADIO 1.50
I switched from 1.47 because it wasn't any different than 1.48 in terms of quality of call and drop calls.
Let's see if i can keep the 1.50.
I have cingluar,...
There seem to be plenty of Radio threads in the "Hermes upgrading etc." section..
Been using 1.47 now for about a week, and a LOT less dropped calls. and not having much issues with BT ASDPA and 3G...
Give it a shot.. so far I have tried 1.47, 1.48, 1.50, 1.51 and 1.47 does seem to work best on Rogers.

Hi, i just have a problem with the radio rom.
most of the time my radio works perfectly as when making calls etc, i still dont get a good signal for video calling, but ive now upgraded to the new WM6, so that does not matter now, my question is this really, .....
is the messaging inbox for text and emails etc.. controlled by the radio or by the WM rom, as when i try to access it sometimes it hangs and i have to perfom a soft reset andsometimes loose new messages.
this only started when i upgraded to the newest radio rom, Is this a problem anyone else is having and is it worth downgradingor upgrading to another rom to fix this??
cheers .
JOJO
Yeah I was finding trouble hanging occasionally with the 1.14 radio.
But I'm still not 100% certain whether it's related to WM6 though. I dropped back to 1.10.03 and thought it had solved my hangs... but then I had another one this morning. So who knows.
Did you use the 1.14 radio with WM5 at all?
yes, ive been on the 1.14.10 radio since it was released, and its been doing it a while, i only upgraded to wm6 2 days ago, and it did it then and still does it now....
ah ok, that's interesting to know. I only upgraded to radio 1.14 when I moved to WM6, so I wasn't sure.
aye, did yours start only when you upgraded both roms???
i might downgrade and see if it stops....
does anyone know if the messaging is to do with the radio?
Ive had it hang on wm6 sometimes when 1st booted to today screen, but never after?
Its an AKU 3.2/3.5/WM6 problem, not the radio

Radio 1.15.00 working fine with Helmi_c AKU3.5 v1.3.
No problems encountered mentioned in other Threads regarding combine this Radio with other WM6 ROM.
Voice Call working in both in / out direction.
SMS works.
MMS works. --> GPRS works.
As the radio being the most problematic for me, I may or may not upgrade...1.09 is working just fine right now.
I am using 1.14 for 3-4 months. I just upgrade from 1.14 to 1.15. No problem until now.
I will upload it to the FTP server, Radio Rom's are allowed.

I concur with that. Helmi 3.5 runs good with 1.15.
Someone know how it's work with Helmi 1.1 WM6?
Now I still running 1.13
Pair problems with Parrot 3200 LS-Color
I use my Qtek 9000 with a Parrot 3200 LS-COLOR buetooth carkit.
Generally I must pair again when the carkit reconnects.
I have this problem with all radio rom versions, but with version 1.14.10 I have the problem sometimes.
Is there someone who know a solution for this problem?
In advance thank you verry much!

I flashed two days ago, and working fine. Also, I thing that ppc became a little faster.
Running 1.15 for two days with Jwrightmcps Crossbow ROM 20108, I must say that it is much better than any other radio I had used before. I was running 1.09, 1.011 and 1.14. None of them was able to pick up connectivity as fast as it does with 1.15. Often, I needed to reset to connect to the network after going through tunnel or going into a lift.
BTW, I live in Singapore and my provider is Starhub, I have since switched my phone to 3G full time after I upgraded radio to 1.15. Previously, I could only fix to GSM network in order to have a relatively stable connection.
Flashed 1.15 two days ago. The best radio ROM so far on O2 UK with Jwriright'2 2.02
I've had not much of an issue so far too. I realised it takes a shorter time to get SMS sent out, and shorter time to pick up the 3G network.
Good Radio
Oh .mygod Thank You Very Much
here are the changes in 1.15 radio from 1.14
- In some cases you'll be unable to connect to GPRS while roaming in a 3G area when having a 2G-only sim-card
That's all. Nothing so important to waste time upgrading to this radio.
I am running JWright 2.02.00 ROM and sometimes, after a soft-reset, the device won't see the WiFi unit. The Wireless todayplugin only states the phone network, and a bluetooth icon, but no wifi anymore. After soft-resetting again, the WiFi will return.

I have a the same problem, have tried different things, only solution currently is to soft reset, keep "lid" close, lcd down on keypad, while busy "booting up". After few seconds open and enter pin, wifi back !
do i have to hard reset after upgrading the radio only?
i really dont want to install everything all over again.

No need to hard reset
I'm using MDA Vario II in UK with LVSW's ROM releases. I have found out that Radio ROM is somewhat unstable - sometimes it just hangs, making Phone feature of Hermes completely unusable (I can use other apps and stuff, tough), unless I do soft reset. It happens quite randomly, for example when I try to initiate/hang-up the call, or receive SMS delivery notification, or do anything which is related with the phone. Sometimes it works perfect for few days, sometimes I can experience these hangs 2-3 times a day.
Tested Radio ROMs are 1.41 and 1.40 - both with same results. Maybe I shall revert to the original Radio ROM from T-Mobile (v1.05 AFAIR)? Any other possible solutions from other T-Mobile UK users around here? Thanks in advance.
fellow mda vario II t-mobile uk user
I'm using lvsw's + same radio. It work really well for me. not had any of the issues you described with it.
Hi
I have been on the 1.40.30.00 radio rom and had good results although last week when i was in wales my dads stock 1.05 radio with stock Tmobile (older) rom produced better internet stability on 3g than mine did.
That said im was very happy with 1.40.30.00. However i ahve today upgrade to 1.43.00.00 which has a long thread about it in the upgrades channel. (basicly i wanted to see what it was like...)
I would be happy to report back my finding in in the next few days to you.
Thanks for quick replies. One more question - are you using VoIP application? I mean, not simultaneously with GSM/3G, but do you have it enabled with some SIP account and use it occasionally?
Recommend 1.43.00.00
I higly recommend upgrading to radio 1.43.00.00. I'm on T-Mobile UK in London and have been using it since it was released a couple of weeks ago and have no compliants at all. The reception is perfect and data speeds are good.
Battery life is probably the only questionable part, but I haven't really been keeping an eye on it to be honest. No 'low battery' messages like I used to get on the original radio anyways. Currently on 60% after almost a full day of calls, push email, and general use.
I tried 1.38, 1.40, and 1.41 and had nothing but dropped calls and really bad reception, it was terrible. The only thing I've noticed with 1.43 is that after I make a call in a 3G area and look at my phone, the data connection has been killed and it only shows as G and not 3G. It goes back to normal after that though, so not an issue for me. Not sure if this is radio or ROM related tho.
Don't use any VoIP apps so can't comment on that.
Im using radio 1.43.00.00 (the current one), works fine on 3G and GSM.
The VoIP im using over Wifi (obviously Tmobile dont allow it on 3G/GSM), im using SIPGate as you can register a residential number for it aswell....works great over wifi im uni and at home. Paypal payment for call charges is also a bonus

I know SIPgate, I have a number registered (0207 Central London number in Heathrow area , and I'm using it at home with FritzBox 7050 WLAN device. On my Hermes I use IPFON.pl, which is Polish-based VoIP provider.
Anyway, looks like in your case VoIP application does not interfere with Radio ROM. Maybe I shall upgrade to 1.43 too...

Actually I haven't got any problems with dropped calls and/or bad reception, both with 1.40 and 1.41 Radio ROMs. It's just a matter of freezing Phone module from time to time, which forces me to restart whole device.
Can someone post a link to 1.43 and instructions for upgrading? Thanks in advance.

Skype works fine on the Vario running under 3G. I've used Skype (on my Vario) to talk to a friend in Valencia and it worked fine.
And it only costs £7.50 per month for an unlimited data plan.
Bobbyelliott, I couldn't get Skype 2.2 to work, chat works fine but voice just crashes out straight away.... the Skype site states it won't work yet with Vario II... hmmm...

I had similar probs on Tmo in the Uk with 1.41 and 1.43, the radio stack would just drop my network connection and I have to turn on flight mode and turn flight mode off....
also I seam to get multiple new text messages at once. Eg two new text messages at the exact same time, almost like the phones got a heartbeat and only checks every X mins.
Im about to try 1.40

Back to the radio post...
Using 1.43 here with no problems so far. Noticed 2 changes to date from original T-Mobile radio (1.05.05.00): calls are now louder with very slight hiss at higher volume, and the radio seems to hold 3G for longer when it previously switched to a higher signal 2g connection - obviously better for data and might also save on battery power. I have not seen any higher signal strength at home but 3G is 'perhaps' more often available.
No missed or dropped calls so far and after upgradeding IPL/SPL using HardSPL (as per recs) it took me less that 7 mins total for the radio flash!
I have not tried any other radios so cannot comment on them and whether 1.43 is better; but, compared to the original I'd say 1.43 is an improvement .

Looks like problem does concern some people, and some doesn't - regardless Radio ROM version. Maybe it's dependant on the 3rd party software installed..? Hmm..
said i'd post back with my findings,
48 hours latter im very happy with this 1.43.00.00 i'll stick with it.
(I was in a very poor reception area yesturday and it seems to be on a par with the stock tmobile radio rom that my sister and father still have... i found that 1.40.30.00 was worse than the stock radio rom when i was in a poor reception area in wales.)
(as for battery, i can't say my usage pattern changes daily. so long as i can get through a day with scheduled send and recive then im happy to charge each night when i set my alarm for the morning.)
I had lots of problems with all the radio roms. the only one that seems to work pretty well is 1.38 orange. try this.
OK! i've been searching and searching but i did not get a direct answer. So i have decided to put up this thread for someone to help me.
I have the 8525. I've gone from the WM5 to the WM6, i upgraded from the AT&T Rom to the cooked roms now. But i see that i do not get enough bars on my phone. Initially i thought it was my location.
But recently i switched to my older phone (which is the Tmobile Dash unlocked) and i see that i have full bars ... on the phone in the same location.
So i know that it's the phone.
How do i go about solving this problem.
would the RADIO versions help... for example changing the RADIO on my phone. if so which one would you recommend.
Thanks in advance xda developers members.
*** update ****
After posting, i decided to search for the orignial ROM from ATT and i found it.
I reflashed my phone w/ the ROM. the only reason i don't like the original ROM is because of the unnecessary stuff that comes with it.
But i see full bars now.
So what are some of the recommended ROM's here. I have the new ATT (cingular) and all is well except w/ the recent ROM's i was getting really bad reception. and like 2 to 3 bars.
So any suggestions will be welcomed for sure.
try a new radio
who is ur service with ? and where you from
that will help us give you some answers
Not to mention that 3 bars on my phone may not be as loud as 1 bar in yours. More important is how it sounds and how you sound....
1 bar a good reception
OK!... just to point out.
I reflashed w/ the ATT original rom but no luck.
Once i had full bars, it went down to like 2 or 3
But as mentioned one's 1 bar may be as loud as 3 bars on anothers.
I guess that was the problem with mine. I used to get like 2 or 3 bars, but i did have good reception. But i would notice that my calls would get disconnected.
So that is my concern, i realize now that i can have 2 or 3 bars and have good call quality. But i do get calls that get disconnected. Didn't really have that problem before.
I live in NJ
I have Cingular (ATT) service.
Currently i've flashed the original RUU from HTC for the 8525
lets see how that works.
But as far as the bar situation or the dropped calls, would that be a hard ware problem or a soft ware problem?
Also would it be the ROM or the Radio?
thanks in advance.
What radio version are U using? It sounds like a radio issue. A lot of at&t USA people have had call success with radio 1.48. But, others have worked also.
im in central nj, and im using 1.51 or whatever the latest one is, and i have no problems, its all about the same for me.
I live west coast and use 1.50. I seem to always see 1.48 and 1.50 recognized as the best all around. But u may also try 1.51; It seems hit or miss, but if it works it looks like it works real good.
This happened to me when I changed to another radio for the first time.
You need to go into your band selection, and chose it manually. After doing ths, you should be able to soft-reset and set it back to auto, and it should work.
Phone > Options > Band
Select whatever your provider is. Reset, then choose auto again.
I have no idea why, but this fixed my issues.
Hi all,
I've got a problem and can't get my head around it!
I upgraded to the offical Tmobile (UK) WM6, and whilst I love it (much more stable) I just can not connect to the Web 'n' Walk service via 3G. I have no problems on GPRS, and I have no problems with texting and making calls on 3G. Can anyone offer any help?
I've tried all the operator settings available from this group, but haven't tried a different radio rom yet - I'm still on 1.50.
Another thing I have noticed is that if someone sends me a MMS, I get a pop up box saying I have to close the current connection and then download it. This didn't happen before on WM5. If I go back on the net after downloading a MMS, then I get the "connecting" pop up showing again.
Any help much appreciated!

Firstly make sure your settings are ok, use the network wizard i have attached.
Secondly the radio you are using SHOULD be fine however running the tests (in my signature) i found that some radios between 1.40 and 1.54 seem to hinder 3G performance (atleast on my network anyway).
Try 1.47.30.10 and see if that helps?
P.S: your radio version isnt a WM5.0 radio as said above....totally incorrect.
Thanks for the suggestions mrvanx, i'll give the cab file a go. I'm working nights this week, so time is scarce, but i'll give the radio rom a go soon. I spent half the night last night reading up on relatively good roms for TMobile UK, but I left the list I compiled in work! (The other half of the shift involved watching a boxing match between Calzaghe and Hopkins... he he!)
Cheers

Had the same issue with several Radio ROMs which I have been toying around with. Sometimes 3G worked intermittently, sometimes not at all.
Now I am back at version 1.47.30.10 and 3G works again and all the time too. And the GSM reception and the battery life with this version is OK too. I suggest you try some Hermes Radio ROMs too to find out which one works for you.
Oh, and don't forget to enable HSDPA and then reboot via HTweakC 2.1b or another tool.

Thanks for the tips there - I'm now running Schap's WM6 4.30 rom and the 1.47.30.10 radio rom, and i'm back to sqare 1 with 3G reception at work! Even the GPRS seems slower. So i'll try a few radio roms. Only showing 2 bars in work - normally 3. Few freezes with Schaps rom, so might have a try at some others. It could even be TMobile issues in my area. I've got the HSDPA enabled too.
Thanks for your input.
