any settings for trackball? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi and sorry if alredy asked (didn't find with search function...)
Is there any registry tweaks or settings to change trackball sensibility or speed?
TY and excuse for my poor english....
bey

I would like to know the same cause trackball is acting bit weird when playing games

yes same here, i use blackberry but not very nice on orbit.

I wrote this post just after using a blackberry pearl... blackberry trackball is awesome!!!

...
not a problem I have had -what game (s) are causing the problem?

You can change the speed by going to Settings > System > Mouse Mode

Lol, I used a Blackberry Pearl too and was assuming this one would be the same It is nothing like as nice which is a shame. It seems to sick and miss a bit...

I think this setting is related to mouse mode only... what i was talking about is normal trackball use to move through the screen...

How to adjust trackball 'sensitivity' on XDA Orbit

Hi
Please could somebody help!!
I have an O2 XDA orbit, I love it and have it running just great, still using the stock O2 WM6 ROM.
One problem I have which is really annoying me. I like to use the trackball for games, such as Astraware's Mummy Maze. Only problem is, when you move the trackball it moves twice. It seems it is 'calibrated' to function as two cursor movements per resgister of the trackball. This renderes it impossible for a lot of games.
Does anyboby know the registry key I need to change it, so that with each move of the trackball only 1 direction 'press' is sent to the app?
Thanks in advance
go the
start
settings
system
mouse mode
and adjust the speed of pointer

Thanks for the advice, but I've tried this, it doesn't solve the problem. It only seems to happen in game, the trackball just seems to send two cursor 'clicks' the the app.
Have exactly the same problem, but no solution, yet.

HD's virtual touch pad?!

hi there
i wondered if someone can make some virtual buttons and nav pad at the bottom of screen so that we can use it in games and other programs
cause all u know that the devise realy lacks the d-pad!!
(something like what HD has in its standard keyboard but more applicable)
for example make a virtual input keyboard but without any alphabetic buttons! instead only nav and some big usefull buttons!
it would make a real change in hd's programing and gameing!!!
thanx in advance
i put some pics for an idea !! sorry for bad quality
thats no problem... emulators have that. problem is that the touch hd don't have multitouch... you have the choice... move ... or jump! that means no jumping forward with sonic or mario...
navigationkeyboard is already integrated in touchpal 3.5.
Ohhh, and this whole time I thought the only thing stopping people from playing games which require hardware input was the lack of a decent software input! Does this mean that the HD will never be able to play games which require more than one input at the same time e.g. racing games (accelerate and steering for example)?
That is such a shame
volume up = speed
volume down = break
virtual touch pad = driving around
See this thread for a great work-in-progress to address this issue

Never thought of that! Does that mean you could run a game at VGA resolution with the virtual D-Pad at the bottom of the screen (480x160 pixels)?

whu pay 88$ when you can pay less... just found this on a quick ebay search
that's not just for games!! it's needed in every program like file explorer and etc. to navigate through files!! u cant select a file with fingers without being run! or while typing or etc.
i know the org. keyboard has it ,but something more comfortable!! dude!

The Touch HD won't fit in that chainpus gamepad unless you chop it apart and mod it to extend further. I saw a thread somewhere else where someone did that, but that's way beyond my ability. I'm considering a Wii controller. Would just need some way to attach it. Maybe just a small clipboard to rest them both on or something.

No and no.
It is a problem. It is in emulators (i have myself draw dpad in morphgear) but it doesnt exist for normal VGA games.
and you are wrong about that multitouch problem. There can be place between up arrow and right arrow which will work as right up button. Also if you click on 2 places on HD, it will touch the centre of the points you touched, so it is basically multitouch
Well maybe with the increasing number of these devices having larger screens and no physical buttons someone will start coming out with more controllers.
What about an analogue slider input, like the joystick on the PSP? IMO that would be really cool.

How to turn off keyboard lights?

I would like to know if there is a registry or app that turns off the keyboard backlight.
The idea is save battery life during the day or while reading a big text. I already use the Lowlight to reduce the light intensity but the keyb light many times is useless.
I already teste some regs mentioned for others phones but didn't work in the nrg rose (QKeybTimeout and QKeyb another thing...).
I noticed that the keyb light turns off while browsing a big email in the native wm mail. I think it's possible to find a reg monitoring this function, but i don't know about any wm 6.1 reg monitor like ceregspy for ppc.
thanks for the help
go to power management in settings and you can lower the time that it's lit up

Ever think of searching through the registry yourself? I'll do it when I have time but instead of complaining that someone did not read your post how about trying to help yourself first?

here's something for ya, i've only tried this on my blackjack 1 though.
go to HKCU\ControlPanel\KeypadBacklight and change your registry settings to look like this.
EndTime...........0x0(0)
mode...............0x1(1)
i'll make a cab, so if you don't like it you can uninstall it.

hmm... maybe i spoke to soon, i'll test it out on my dash and see what happens.
EDIT well stylez your right, ookba's 6.5 doesn't even have it. so adding it in won't do any good either. it worked on my bj1 that's running starca's 6.1. but obviously a different phone and such.

It's worth a try to create the reg, just been searchin and seems a common question on many phones that no one answers
haha well i have nothing going on at the moment, so i'll make a small effort to figure it out. no promises though people.
EDIT well after some searching i would like to think i've narrowed it down to the HTCUtil.dll and/or the keybddr.dll that controls how long the keypad lights are on. but i have no way of telling for sure, just a guess.
So anybody? make a cab that has a simple icon like light config, lets make it so all power on keyboard is off during the day.
or something. ?

Well without knowing how to control it then a "simple" .cab with .lnk is out of the question

Ahh lol no doubt i know this is kinda an old question so shes dead too bad, lights out for during the day would been nice, my battery in my S621 on wi-fi all day gives me 10 hours 11am-9pm i bet battery life would last like insane if we could disable the lights on keys.

Backlight Adjustment

Ive searched the forum but i am unable to find what i am looking, if its out there lol
I love the power of the backlight on my Touch HD, and i can change the brightness of the screen in the settings. But im trying to find if someone has created software that only changes the brightness in a quick program mode. it would be handy when im driving to just turn down the brightness so it does not put me off because going through the setting could be a little dangerous
if anyone knows of where i can get this software it would be handy.
thank you
Try SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 or SPB Phone, there will be quick widgets to adjust backlight, volume etc etc. Try to search with ready keys. or let me know, i will help you with SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 keys. Good luck!
There is auto back light function of the WM depending of the ambient light condition. It is not clear from your explanation what exactly you would like to do with the brightness.
I don't know what it's called, but in the EnergyRom there is an "app" that allows you to control the backlight intensity, skinned din a very similar way to volume in the htc. I think that's what you're looking for.

But with autobacklight adjust the device will consume more power, that will cause to fast battery discharge. This guy wants simple soft that is "press and control" .
Hey beaker239
did you try SPB softs yet?!

wow.... it really did change about my phone lol i wasn't really expecting that. i didn't realise that it was the whole layout format. i like it though. is it easy to remove, i asume i just un-install it?? i only ask just incase i have to send the phone back under warrenty (since this is my fourth HTC Touch HD since January 2009!!). any tips or hits at where to start with the software??? although i found the backlight function, but i have yet to get it to work. i can get the widget onto the main screen (though you can see it?!?!?) when i click the space where it should be it brings up 5 settings for the backlight, but if i click one of them, nothing happens.
thanks for this

this one works iff you turn off backlight in system

You may just uninstall it. However it is not needed while sending under warranty because it is legal software which modifies no HTC/system things.
BTW: Anyone knows how to change lower backlight limit for autobacklight? I found backlight is still to bright at night.

[Q] Wireless controller to play games

Hi.
I searched much but it came with no result, it's hard to find phase there, because there is many similar threads.
I search for an application which will allow me to use my phone as wireless controller for games <- it's important because most keyhacks won't work with d3d because of cheating-prevention.
I got hardware keyboard and touch panel so I would use keyboard as keyboard and touch like touchpad.
None of wireless image is needed.
Is there anything like this?
Thanks for response in advance!
Cheers my bros, Luby
