AGPS isnt GPRS is it? I thought AGPS was something with GPS, so that the GPS position also gets a fix from the UMTS network (each transmitterpole has its own coordinates).
Since the artemis has no UMTS, i thougth u cannot have AGPS.
or do u mean something different? I can easily be wrong, so sorry by advance if i am talking jibberisch.
how use AGPS
With AGPS you get the same data (ephémérides) than with QuickeGPS, but "in live" using GRPS conection, so you get fix much easylier. If you read french you have all explainations here : http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/articles.asp?id=215.
you nead to have a GPRS Subscription and set up a conection GPRS on your artemis.
AGPS is more accurate than quickgps, because it is intended at beeing updated "live", the approximation of satellites' positions is very precise, whereas the information given by quickgps lasts 3 days, it's a rougher approximation.
Orange France provides free access to AGPS service hosted on its servers. A GPRS connection will be established, but this connection is free.
On SPV M650 devices, the AGPS program automatically starts just before your GPS software (Tomtom or other) when launched.
I bought a P3300 HTC device, but am an Orange client, and would like to benefit from this service. It seems AGPS is installed by the Kulbut0r's patch, but if I patch my phone with it, my GPS won't work because it's not a M650... Does a cab file exist with only the AGPS installation, not the M650 GPS fix ?

Ok thanks, i was under the impression it was something different. Thanks for your explanation. Shame that i am at vodafone, so probably i cannot have it.
AGPS with BB4 ROM
I have flashed my SPVM650 with the B&B4 ROM and after this the AGPS is existing and activated, and the QuickGPS is installed to.
I have no GPRS subscription so i had to disactivate the AGPS by changing the wright Key in windows registry.
If you want to use AGPS you have to get a GRPS fixed price subscription (downloads for AGPS are free) and set up a GPRS connection on your PDA (use my cab for this).

HTC has set up A-GPS especially for the M650 which are branded with an updated firmware version...
you'll have to install it on your P3300 for taking advantage of A-GPS...
firmware has been posted sometimes ago already on these boards...

it doesnt mean it's fully operational !
currently working on it... hope I could release an updated "yet an another quick and dirty fix" !
Quick GPS operational on SPV M650 running B&B 4 ?
Kulbutor, do you Know if the Quick GPS is operational on my SPV M650 where i have installed the B&B4 ?. It's seems to be but i am not sure.
imho, the updated firmware for GPS on M650 doesn't take advantage of downloaded ephemeris... so that running QuickGPS would be useless...

Hi,
I tried searching for this, but couldn't find anything, so I'm hoping someone here would be able to help out. I currently have a Siemens SX66 ROM v1.40.00 WWE, Radio v1.13.00 ExtROM v1.40.125 WWE
Now, it's strange, but, if I don't have WiFi activated for an extended period of time, and I try to turn it on from the WiFi Manager but what happens is, I'll get that rotating "wait" icon with the colors, and then the WiFi will NOT turn on. However, if I perform a soft-reset (which I don't like having to do, cuz then the "phone" is out of commission until it's back up and running), the WiFi'll be automatically on when it finally loads up fully from the soft-reset.
I don't suppose anyone knows what causes this, and if there's any way to fix this? I'd be forever obliged!!
Thanks,
Quordandis
Hi
wifi always had some bugs :/
I don't know if you have the latest ExtRom though.
PH20B models' newest is 1.40.176
I dont know if there's any newer for SX66
I suggest you check the wiki and upgrade if possible.
I also have this problem. This come from BT.
I have PDA2K unidirectional patch installed. Do you also installed it ?
Let me know as maybe this come from this patch.
May workaround for this is :
Turn on/off BT.
If not enough I also do after turning bluetooth on/off
Settings - Connections
Connections
Configure Proxy server
Check :"This network connect to Internet"
Leave uncheck ":"This network connect to Internet through Proxy server""
This always made me the trick to get back my wifi without soft reset.
Hi there. I'm new to the forum and scratching my head on how to resolve a problem with VoIP over 3G.
I'm running the LVSW WM6 rom (great work by the way) on my iMate JasJam in order to take advantage of the integrated VoIP client. I used shaun33's SIP Config Tool to configure the SIP settings, and over WiFi it works like a charm!
The problem comes trying to use VoIP over 3G. When WiFi is turned off I get the "searching" message on the Today screen for a while, and then it changes to "No Service". I've used the config tool to enable VoIP over 3G/GSM, checked registry settings but nothing I try seems to make any difference.
I'm using the 3 network in Australia by the way, an the area of Sydney that I live in has good HSDPA coverage.
I've been scouring the forum and the web generally over the last few days trying to find an answer, all to no avail.
Is there anyone out there that can help?
Hi,
I am thinking to buy a htc p3300, but i am unsure if the GPS will work without data connection.
It works fine without a network signal. you would only need network access if using downloadable mapping or the aGPS updates (which are not necessary IMHO) - Mike

Thanks for the helpful reply.
Looking for some help to fix a priority issue when using Widows Live. When i sync with my hotmail account, it automatically creates a GPRS connection even though there is an active Wifi connection, is it possible to change this, as Wifi does not generate any data costs, but using my carriers GPRS connection does. A point of note, this did not occur when using WM5, but has occured using WM6 and WM6.1. Not sure if it relates to the newer operating system, or a newer build of Windows Live. Any help on this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks.
This doesn't occur on the original Hermes WM6 rom. Ive also experienced this issue...
Does your ROM have the HTC Connection Wizard installed? If so, did it setup your GPRS settings for your Cellular service?
What I found is that the HTC Connection Wizard messes with the priority.
What I suggest is backing up your device using SPB Backup or Sprite..
Next, do a Hard Reset
After the Hard Reset, make sure HTC Connection Wizard doesn't run...
Afterwards, setup your GPRS Settings manually.
Now see if your Wifi and GPRS priorities work as you expect it...
If so, you'll have to setup your device again (install software and stuff). If it doesn't work, just restore your backup and you're back where you started.
Good luck
Hey Joel, thanks for the suggestion....I tried it out but still have the same issue. I welcome other suggestions, or work arounds. thanks!
A workaround is to use modaco nodata (do a quick google search for it) which allows you to disable any gprs connections so it will be forced to use wifi, it just uses a toggle box so you can easily re-enable gprs afterwards. I use it with gprs disabled apart from when I really need to use it.
awesome app
not quite what I was looking for, but it does what I need perfectly. Thanks
Does anybody know the reason why the assisted gps is disabled by default?? And how can it be enable. When I enable with advanced configuration it is not working.
My previous phone was a nokia e71, and there was the a-gps working perfect. I used sygic McGuider, and there was an option to use a-gps. When that option was checked you got a fixed in the middle of your house. That worked perfect. You got immediately a fix, almost instantanious.
Why do you think it is disabled?
On my TP2 I go to 'All Programs > Quick GPS' and it tells me when it last downloaded info, how long it is valid for and I can configure settings under Menu.
Quick gps is something else than assisted gps. Assisted gps uses network triangulation to support the gps position. If there are some obstacles that block some of the gps signals, and the network coverage is still okay then your signal is still okay with assisted gps.
I alse read somewhere that some costs are charged when you use a-gps, but I have never notioned that with my nokia e71. Even in a foreign country no costs were charged for using a-gps.
