Stupid Question ? it is possible to have fm radio - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hey,
I do consider that the qtek it is almost a Swiss knife ..come on!!!! it does almost everything !!!... but !!! (there is always a but )
It is possible to have FM radio on these marvelous piece of engineering ?
I know we have some incredible gurus in these forum ......so ??
all the best
Rodrigo

You'll have to state your limits on this. I mean, I may suggest you to get yourself a portable radio and stick onto it using ducktape, but that's definately your limit. You can do a Internet radio, you can do a SDIO radio.. there are many possibility.
And, for your information, the easiest way of tweaking registry and adding software is a no no.

radio
to have an fm radio , u need an hardware radio part , as it is not a part of the hardware there is no fm radio function on the universal
greetings greyvision

Thanks for the answers !!
I do consider attaching a FM with duck tape to the Qteck but you know what ?? it isn't that pretty
thanks again

Thanks greyvision good answer

But do get that you wont be able to use SD cards then. AFAIK, there're no FM sdio cards that come with built-in memory

xda to play back fm radio

Hi guys
has anyone been using your xda to play fm radio?
you need a sd card- i learnt this from the net , but cant find one in UK.
Can you let me know whre I can find one.
Think you can use realplayer for streaming radio, don't need an SD card afaik. Get it here:
http://www.real.com/realmobile/download.html
i dont think its possible to play fm via xda II or xda without a sd fm card.

@pleun
if theres a way to play it via real player then please can you explain that.
thanks mate.
I'm no expert on this, I just installed realplayer, went to a radio station site on the web (www.3fm.nl) and there's buttons that you can click to listen to their shows. It works just like that! I even think Windows Media Player does the same thing.
btw the signal is sent over GPRS not GSM
found some more :
http://radio.about.com/od/softwareplayerstolisten/
don't know if they're meant for windows mobile tho
its all over GPRS why dont we have a built in FM (GSM) like nokia sets :S
as soon as drivers are available for these , right now only Palm

Or this one claims PocketPC 2003/2003 :

although HTC not listed in compatibility doc
http://www.dealsonic.com/csdsedifmstr.html
specifically states XDAII as not compatible

How To Build A ROM

So, I'm a bit new to this, but given that I'm a developer, I figured I'd try to lend a hand and see what happens. I actually have the Verizon version of the Blue Angel (the harrier). I am very interesting in porting WM2005 to the device.
I know there are ROM images floating around for the Blue Angel for 2005, and I assume in the future, we'll see many more of these. So, what my question is, is this:
I know there are three ROM images on these devices, a radio stack, the system, and a protocol stack. My question is if the system stack is interchangeable with any radio stack, or if they use proprietary methods to call accross the radio and system. If so, what detail can people tell me on how you hack together a system stack to talk to a different radio stack?
Thanks

Hi Andre, I am in the computer field as well (IT networking) and would love to help in any way I can. I just got the Verizon version recently and I think unless we do something we'll be without WM 5.0 for a long time.
Let me know if I can help at anytime..
Thanks

Wizard rom On Uni Exec is it possible?

Does anyone have a Wizard rom i.e Cingular working on an XDA Exec / Universal?
I know this is a noob question but if anyone has it working could you post how?
Much Thanks...
Simple answer: ain't no way that this could work.
Cheers
hrb
Well, if you could hack around the rom/ram size issues, you could probably do it, but the keyboard, screen, button and sound card drivers would probably be non-functional, so you'd probably have pretty much a brick.

[Q] About Radio versions

hey all!!
i am using htc touch diamond indian version(no 3g)....
i switch operators often between BSNL & Airtel. I m using using radio 1.09.25.23 which is told best for Airtel...but as i switch operators which radio version will be best... i use gps too!
thanks alot!!!
The way I understand it is this, the radio is designed for a particular rilphone.dll when the carrier asks the manufacturer to design a radio-this is what defines what features go into the radio, hence the version numbers.
So, this in mind, what you want to find is a radio version used on both the networks you use-and then use the rilphone.dll bundled with that radio for best performance.
Can't really say much on GPS-since it's different to receiving mobile signals I'd say the performance shouldn't differ too much between versions, although AGPS might...
I'm not entirely sure but that's the best answer I can give you if anyone wants to correct or expand that'd be welcome

[Q] FM transmitor chip activating

Hello everyone !
First, please excuse me for my poor english level.
I did some research to see if a thread like the one I wanted to create was already existing, but I couldn't find any.
I was wondering if the HTC desire could possibly have the fonction of a FM transmitor. So I did some researchs and I found on Frandroid (french forum for android) that the HTC desire include a chip to transmit FM radio, but it wasn't activated.
(the goal of a FM transmitor is to transmit your music from your phone to your tuner in your car without using a jack 3.5 male-male)
So I was wondering if the numerous super heros developers of xda forum had already take a look about that or not ^^
Sorry again for my english,
The dwarf who like the beer.
maybe cyano is working on it =)
the desire dosent have a dedicated chip to transmit FM, Infact all the hardware to transmit FM is included in the snapdragon CPU. maybe looking at the source code for the current snapdragon drivers will be of intrest
Ok, thank you a lot !
This would be really cool, I want it to work, but I'm not hopeful...
