CoolCamera - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Hey Guys,
anyone ever tried CoolCamera ? I just installed on my B+B4.0 and it runs very fast. It's not that comfortable to use....but it's very fast if you compare with the htc camera 4.x in B+B. It's still beta so we can hope it's getting more comfortable to use.... just give it a try

Great Work
Thanx, this is great, it works very wel, I can take picture faster, and, more important, I can make Movie at a grater resolution. This software is the best. I am wondering if there isn't some registry tweak to make HTC Camera to let me pick higher resolution for movie.

maybe im not good to set that program...but for me dont work well at all
i will try again then

Camera
You have to modify the parameres, first at Settings, Adv. Settings, Pixel Order must be Reversed. If not, the image will be bad. At movie you cannot film more than 5 seconds, This is not good, but the quality of the movie is much better.

Take photos by the camera button
Hi guys,
is there any possibility in the coolcamera to take photos by pressing the camera button like in the original camera app? I didn't find anything for it...

Indeed a great app, although its unregistered and therefore i cant record for more then 5 secs.
The shutterbutton can only be configurated to hardware buttons 1-4 (define keys) but the camerabutton on the artemis is number 5. Where tot change this, cant find anything in the coolcamera folder or registry.

Change in settings\buttons - button 5 select coolcamera

Thats not what i meant! Already have that working, but need to alter the settings to take the picture when coolcamera is activated...

It is possible to take a picture by touching the touchscreen.
Just go to Define Keys, Touchscreen en choose Make Photo.

On HD2 it's not working the interface...
There is no hard buttons to support the application ...

Copy or rename Camera.exe.040c.mui to Camera.exe.0409.mui (or Camera.exe.0410.mui)
Configure on Setting GPSID (External GPS):
GPS Program Port = GPD8
GPS Hardware Port = (the port of GPS BT Paired ,ie..COM0)
Verify EXIF data with Picasa2.
TyTN with WM6 lvsw 20070315 .
Yeah I'm running that myself. It's nice to have the GPS feature. It also lets you take photos using the front camera as well as the back (finally a built in use other then video calls) though the pictures aren't great so I use the 2mp cam instead. Still nice to have it. Also, new overlay templetes. The only thing I need to change on it is reports the photo as being taken on a Dopod (gotta fix it to read Hermes or TyTN) - haven't looked - it was probably in the registery entries I imported and didn't even bother to look

Hi guys at last some body talking about the camera, what I took notes about apart from the not a very good focus camera on the Tytn, I don't know if is a problem with the flash that is not synchronized with the shutter ,because if you take a picture ,has got the same light ,like it was before the high intensity beam that shine when some body press the camera button. If some of you gurus came have a .cab or fix were we can adjust the synchronization of the shutter with the beam will be wonderful. Thanks

Hmm - never noticed - the flash is so weak I never use it - practically useless (imho). As a (lame) work around, if you really need a flash, you could use VJ canella to turn it on, take the pic and then turn it off?

I extracted the camera application from the latest Trinity ROM and it got several problems so I give it up. For example, Video function doesn't run and the photos taken with MMS mode are full of garbage. I believe that the Trinity camera is physically diferent to the Hermes one and the DLL's cannot be shared.
This version from Dopod got the same problems so I don't reccomend it. At least, if you use the files from the Trinity, you can use the flash.
The file is not working
I downloaded this file on 3 dif computers and they all say the zipped file is corrupt, is there something im missing?
Hi,
I’ve just upgraded my SPV 3100 with Camera 4.02, seams that something is wrong witch colors !
To get near to real colors, I must set contrast, hue to max setting ??!!! and the colors are far from those which I got in previous version of camera software.
BTW the sepia effect is BLUE ???!!! & it’s impossible to use front camera
Did anyone got similar problems ??
Is there somewhere “old” HTC camera software available ???
I prefer avoid of hard reset

If you have installed the 4.02 version on SD the previous version 4,00 she still works like before.
Simply launch the program camera.exe from \windows.
The two versions coexist.
BTW : Camera400.zip from LVSW 20070408.
I think it is not possible, coz vcandella uses driver/hardware to put light on, but at the same time is not possible to do this on two programs. you can use light with vcandella or with original camera application. try to use vcandella and run camera - I think error message will appear - hardware is used or something like that...

Yes, you're missing a normal archiving program. I'm guessing you use Windows' builtin "Compressed Folder" crap - it doesn't work with all ZIP files. Try WinZip or WinRAR or IZArc, the latter being completely free (I use it).

Do images rotate on turning the device without opening the keyboard?

Do images rotate on turning the device without opening the keyboard? like on HD or Diamond? Because in my TP2, images do not rotate on turning the device as it is supposed to due to g-sensor .... isn't it? Does it have to be activated somehow or is it not possible in TP2 ... which will be strange.

by default rotation with gyro does not work on Rhodium.
You can use gyrator2 if you wish to enable this functionality.
Cheers,
Beasty
I have the same problem. Screen rotates in opera, but not in Album.
same here, and gyrator is not the perfectly program for this... its slow, and it isn't integrated with WM after install. its just a stand-alone app what runs as the same way as other programs (you can also close it by taskmanager).
Also taksmanager doenst close programs by clicking [X] ?? (even when i select it)...
Attached regisry that will enable a lot of programs in G-sensor.
You also can edit by notepad to remove program that you are not like.
Well found! Very Handy
Thanks

I understand this works great. few questions:
Doesn't it slow the device?
What programs do you suggest to be rotating without the screen sliding out and what programs do you think shouldn't flip to landscape because it gets annoying?

The same question could be applied to many things HTC have done with the Rom on the Rhodium.
At the end of the day, do what we do best here, add the functionality that you want, then fix any problems that occur afterwards.
I haven't noticed any adverse affects using gyrator, as yet anyway.

Doesn't it automatically display the picture at the maximum size? Meaning if it is a landscape picture it displays it in landscape and if it is a portrait picture it displays it in portrait? I actually prefer the way it is done in the new album which I am running on my FUZE.

nice post dude...
i am still trying to get the gyrator to work on my pro2.
did you also have issues with the dotnet thing?
Hello, brilliant suggestion from bigjezza. Myself I'm trying to get Microsoft Reader to react to my phone's gyrations. However when I bring up Gyrator 2 the MS Reader app is not listed. Actually it never came up in my program-list in the first place even though it did install and runs perfectly. Had to stick a shortcut in the Windows/Start-menu.
Any suggestion on how to get MsReader onto Garator's list, or does anyone know what the relevant data is for MsReader just like that?
Many thanks/McHan

Camera FIX cab from LEO

As probably most of you know, the LEO or HTC HD2 had an issue with the images taken by the camera. HTC has released a fix today. This fix means an enhancement in the quality of the photos. Some guy, have made a cab, the orginal exe file provided by HTC was not able to be installed on our HTC HD, but the cab made by this guy yes...
So I have installed the cab in my device -after a back up of course-, then I have made a soft reset and once the device has rebooted I have started to use my camera. For me, but maybe is just a placebo effect, the photos taken after the installation seems to be much better, a great quality improvement has been noted by me, and also the video seems to have a faster response.
But as this fix was intended to the LEO maybe is just a placebo effect and not a real effect. I have to comment that I am using one of the new roms based on LEO. So I do not know how this fix will work on an stock rom. Just make a back up. Just in case.
My current manila version is 2.5.19.202525.0

Has anyone tested it on WM6.1 Roms? or will it work on Roms based on Leo's Rom only??
I have official rom from htc and camera fix works great. Images are better and it has additional options.
But first time I started camera picture was out of screen but it fixed it self by it self after couple of seconds.
you might be right
Just tried this on my 6.5 cooked leo ROM, there is a definate difference, the camera does seem a little quicker and the image is more crisp with more Gamma and contrast.
images
Here are the images, it occurred to me though as a different focus area was chosen in each image the white balance could have caused this changed, perhpas someone else could have a go.
Tried it on my HD with stock rom,I thought it was a marked difference, thanks for that.
Don
stoolzo, you're keyboard really needs a "dusting" !!
LOL @ gwbard's post..
i'll try on my WM 6.1 and report back
Working on my T8282 with Maryone WM6.5 (details in sig)
-Noticed slightly faster performance... maybe...
-All extra camera options were already there for me thanks to HDTweak
-Am about 95% sure the quality of photos has increased
But maybe I just want to believe...

I think this has improved my camera slightly....i think!
However I have no audio while video recording? Any one else have this??
Don't know if you care
Works beautifully on imagio. Seriously, words can't describe the increased level of functionality of the camera on this device. I wouldn't bring my phone out to take pictures before because of the 10 seconds it takes for the autofocus to work, but this thread has shown me light. Under two seconds autofocus and shutter now. Fantastico.
Does anyone know what registry values this cab installs or writes? I would like to try it on an HD Clone. Ideally, it would be nice to know what changes are made to the registry.

Thanks. I extracted that file and renamed it as a DOC file. I can see only one Registry change:
type="Registry"><characteristic type="HKCU\Software\HTC\Customize"><parm name="Ver" value="1.0" datatype="string" /></characteristic></characteristic></wap-provisioningdoc>
Everything else seems to be installs of DLL files and some data run statements. I kind of hoped to see or know more about any other Reg changes as some of the keys are different on Clones.
So, results are positive, huh?
Okay, I'll give it a try soon.
Thanks for sharing this.
Best regards
using it on duttys leo 6.5 rom and its definately speeded up the camera shot, there is still motion blur but I guess its improved and now I can take photos quicker before my son moves.
About the audio in video recording?
Can anyone tell me if this will work on y wifes SE-X1?
I belive that HW is similar to BS
Well, I am back after installing this camera fix on my Blackstone, and I can say that there is a slight improvement in camera's performance... Especially on daylight.
Thanks again
Best regards

[Update]WM Music Player

Its gotten to the point where i feel that i should completely rewrite this app if any progress is going to be made .
So Im going to try to find some time to do just that.
so if anyones still using this, hopefully ill have something soon... its nowhere near done, but heres what i have so far.
v0.1.0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aygEqcsRcqc
ive attached the (very) alpha version... It looks in your storage card only for your music. and is for wvga devices only.
click on the songs to add them to your now playing playlist, click on the + to add without playing the song.
the player saves the playlist when you click on the clock and minimize the form.
hopefully it works for you
with everything going on i might not be able keep up with this thread very well, but ill try to keep you updated.

Anyway I have only been working on it for a few weekends and some week nights but i think its coming along nicely. I thought Id bring it here to see if anybody would be interested in helping test it out and like i said... maybe give some guidance.

Hi Timmy
First congrats for your work and your sharing. It's revolutionary in it's design!
After playing a bit I can see room for improvement:
1 enlarge the fonts
2 pressing play 2nd time pauses but the icon doesn't change
3 add volume control
4 add exit button
5 add stop button
6 add a screen off option to save power
In the minimised view:
7 the sliding effect seems reversed because the slider is not moving, consider a wheel effect (with or without slider)
8 shuffling through directories is not very responsive, I found the best response when swiping my fingernail on the top or the bottom of the central slider.
9 the directories names are hidden by the finger, maybe move them above the slider
10 enhance Dpad functionality : right/left are ok, up/down should switch dirs (now they behave like right/left) and action button should play/pause (now it's not responsive)
This is it for now
I wouldn't have bothered writing so much if I didn't think it has the potential to become a leading app, so keep up (I also think you are going to get more involved than you thought )
Big thanks !
Nice App run perfectly on my Axim x51 running WM6

Thanks for your suggestions! ...
all good ideas!
for 1. i Like the idea of seeing as much of the text as i can on the page which is why they are soo small but i have been thinking about increasing the size, especially for lower resolution devices.
2. I do need to implement this,
3. I intially liked the idea of just using the system volume but i might add to see if i like it
4. for my 6.5.1 rom when i minimize it brings up the x button, i didnt think about how 6.5.3 looks
6. again for my rom i just hit the power button and it turns that backlight off, but i will try to add this.
7. Im still trying to figure out exactly how i want this view to work... I really just wanted a Quick way to go through all the album art. Hopefully i can pull something off here
8. The sliding art just works by grabbing the center albumart and then moving it in the direction you want it to go. and if you slide it all the way over and keep your finger on the screen it will keep going until you lift up...
but like i said this MIGHT change
9. i will definately be moving some text around
10. i havent set anything up for the dpad... its just manipulating the listbox that had focus last. This will change
Im about 400 miles away from my main desktop so i havent done any more work on it... but i have been setting up my 6 year old laptop with all the mobile sdk's to hopefully keep the project running the next couple weeks till i can get back home
Thanks for the detailed answer mate, by the way on my build power button stops the music and for the rest, good luck but don't forget to enjoy your holiday

Besides the points mentioned by Tito i would suggest an exit button as i have to slide down to reveal the taskbar and then close the player from there. On this bulid no exit button comes up.
Also ...is there an option to save playlists?

Yup, feel a fool.... I found it after posting, but I notice that Claus1953 did not like it either. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
I like your approach to the GUI design though. Up until now I have been using S2P from this site, by A_C. Because of GUI usability problems with later releases, I have stuck with his older 0.58 release. Your player is similar. I am sure you are familiar with S2P? I will consider using your program as it has some advantages already. Keep it up.

AT&T Tilt 2 PTT button capture remap

ok so i know it's easy to remap the ptt button to a program but i have a challenge for those that are up to it. can anyone remap the ptt button to actually take pictures within the camera program? let the challenge begin!

You can try the Rhodium Key Remapper, details on THIS thread
It claims to be able to remap ANY hardware key on a Rhodium to just about any function you could imagine...but I don't have a Tilt2 to test out the PTT button to confirm. You're welcome to give it a shot though!

... and how about having the PTT button take a picture only if the camera is active -- otherwise it retains whatever other useful function it's mapped to (for example, mine is currently mapped to rotate the screen).

that's good i like that idea! i wish this thread got some heat so the developers took notice, i would like a firm answer i don't like installing a program just to findout it doesn't work
OK, so I just had a bit of a play around with the Rhodium Keyboard Controller, and indeed you can configure a key to perform a specific action depending on the application running at the time (or at least that's my interpretation of it).
While I was able to get the config to the point of "OK, the camera is running, what do you want the PTT button to do?", but could not figure out how to specify the "take a picture" action.

the action is simply 'ok' or enter. I haven't tried the app but on a Fuze the center of the dpad is essentially the enter key and that will trigger a photo to be taken
I've used the remapper and my PPT opens the camera and takes pictures
It works fine, just try it out. The problem is that the key is on the bottom of the phone when held like it is supposed to be and it also does not have the semi-click focus ability (though when you click it it will focus and then take the shot, though that takes a long time)

For the key remapping, I've had success mapping it to "Enter" (couldn't find "OK" in the list of keys to map to). Attached is a snap of the configuration with the Rhodium keyboard controller.

Yes, that's true. What might be possible is to map the focus to a short press of the key, and the "snap" to a short press. I'm too lazy to figure out how.

By 'remapper' do you mean the Rhodium Keyboard Controller, or something else? I'd like this too, touching the screen to take a picture is moronic.
Duh, why didn't I try that before! Sure enough, set the PTT to be Camera in AEButtonPlus and it sure does take the picture too! Awesome.

I probably don't understand what you're asking for... but I do have assigned my PTT Button to Camera (form settings, personal, buttons, scroll to Camera - on stock ATT ROM) and I do take pictures within the camera program just by pressing the PTT button. If I misunderstood your post, disregard...
They are talking about this cab
It is a little program to allow you to remap the hardware keys. You can even program functions or programs to double and tripple clicks as well. Don't be scared to install software, especially something this small. And if you are a OCD patient, then purchase Sprite Backup.
Now to answer the posters question: You have to have the camera running first to take a picture. If you want you could set camera start for a double PTT click and assign take picture to a single PTT press. Use attached program to accomplish this easily.

Yes I used the Rhodium Keyboard Controller to set up my PTT to use the camera it was pretty simple
From what I've read - as of 4 or so weeks ago - due to new camera updates... the standard remap to capture is no longer working...
if u can find energyrom may 1st version rhodiumkeymapper will work anything newer and it wont work as camera "shoot" button because of the new camera package but the speed increase is incredible..im running the latest n greatest june version of energy now.
Any Idea where I might roll back ROM... I think I'm pushing the ROM envelope... my tilt2 is zippy but bugging out on me...
Worked on reg settings for a while trying to fix capture issue... got it to work (even tried combo with mute button) but rebooted and haven't been able to reproduce. My theory was "if I could eliminate the delay focus could just get it to capture. No dice.
correct me if im wrong but i tried high n low to make my ptt button "shoot" but no dice.. ever since i flashed an energy rom newer than may 1st. its to do with the camera package that energy replaced i believe its topaz camera now on june 19th version.
Try this solution?

Install the keyboard controller for the rhodium, choose to add a key, press the PTT key "if you already have it mapped to something, don't worry. I also have apps mapped to the same button". When in the map config, click the [+] next to Rule. pull out the stylus, click the windows button, go to your camera, and stick the stylus back in. Below "Rule name" the window should say "IACSP20_Main" without the quotes. Choose "Direct key mapping", then select key "13 Enter" for the key. Finally send the key to the operating system.
What this does is: while you're in the camera window and push the PTT key, that key is pushing the enter key. It acts the same as the onscreen shutter button, as in, you have to hold the button. Good luck with your mapping.

I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to be the answer you are looking for. Hope it helps.
Edit: I tried it and it works for me I also followed these directions to remap the volume up and down to do the same thing (they didn't do anything in camera mode anyway) and I like using them better. It has also helped with the quality of photos because I can hold the camera more still Yeah!
What version of the Rom... I tried something like this it didn't work - newer than May 1st... no work that's why...
