Hi!
Change the value of HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\HTC Home\Type from 5 to 4, then move the plugin as usual.
Regards,
PK
Fantastic!
Thank you very much.

Can anyone tell me how to get the today screen back to the normal windows pocket pc today screen. Orange has put that bar of theirs on the left side of the screen. I have tried a few things to overide it but then it comes back up on the screen. How can I remove it or disable it.....
I want to use some pocket pc programs for the today screen but this orange bar overides the program.
cheers

What have you tried to remove it?
Presumably it's not shown in Settings > Personal > Today?
And \windows\start up?
V
Correct it does not work to disable the Orange Shortcuts Symbols on the Home Screen. I have in the shortcuts Contacts, Phone, Messaging, Calendar, Camera Expert Mode, Orange World on the Shortcuts Bar. I want to completely deactivate or remove it from the HTC. The problem I find is that if you go in the settings menu for today you cannot remove it.
Also when I did a hard reset the first time the screen was like it shows in the Windows Pocket PC Manual with the today screen. Orange seems to have put the overide settings in the rom of the unit when you boot-up the unit to show their tool bar symbols on the today screen.
I would like a an suggestion or fix in getting this removed since if I uses as a example a pocket PC battery program I can have full use of the program on my today screen. Currently the Orange seeting overide these setting to there own.

Tried a hard reset again and went into the today settings. well this time it worked. I quess there was a lockup somwhere in the software. Question is in the items section what is the today timeout check box used for?
The DragonUK
Not sure I understand you but if you want to get rid of the Homescreen as Orange calls it go to:
Settings -> Today -> Appearance
and choose the Windows Default theme.
That will give you the standard windows start page.
If you do a search on these forums you will find most of the answers you need, it saves opening new threads all the time.

Previuosly on my Tytn II, the screen is always returning to home screen after the wakeup. I know it's a bug in the pin, but it suits me.
I'm now using i780 and installed the realVGA and HTC home (6 tabs version). It works well apart from the brightness setting.
I need help if somehow I can set the phone to go to home screen each time I wake it up.

Just wanted to ask -
Don't you experience random profile and tab changes with the 6-tab HTC home?
What version of HTC home do you use?
I had to disable the profiles tab so as to not get involuntary profile changes - having my phone start ringing when it should be silent or missing calls since it went into silent profile just like that...
Just wondering, which latest version works on our i780? I've tried 2.1.xxxxx but it doesen't show up at the home screen (using the custom ROM with RealVGA integrated posted last week)
I completed the ROM upgrade on my HTC 8500 (Same as HTC 8525 with no-camera).
1. I need to know if there is a way I could remove the Camera icon from the home screen. Nothing happens when you click on this icon since no supported hardware is found.
2. I need to know if i can change the Video icon on the home screen to point to my music player. Again, nothing happens when you click on this icon. Basically, trying to set the icon to point to a differerent application.
haha ... forget the icon ... the phone won't even boot now ... any ideas?

Did you find an answer to this yet? (I have the same problem)
Has anyone else had the problem with the Tilt 2 freezing when locking the phone? It doesn't happen all the time; but every so often, it freezes on me and I have to reset the phone to get it to work again. I haven't come across a solid answer for why it does this, so in the meantime I've reverted the locking mechanism to the Windows classic version, not the Windows default version that comes set on the phone. I do like the idea of the sliding unlocking mechanism, but I don't want to deal with the freezing. Is there a fix for this problem?
You are not the only one. I was wondering if it was S2U2.
I have been leaving my phone unplugged over night the past two nights to get a feel for the battery life. When I go to wake the phone in the morning it was either a blank screen or just the title bar before it froze. I had to reset to get the phone to work again.

I've had bad experiences with S2U2. I had installed S2U2 on my 8525, and I ended up having to do a hard reset. One day, after having to power down and restart the phone, it just wouldn't load. It got stuck in start-up mode. I don't plan to use S2U2 again. I'm not sure if the slide mechanism that comes standard with the Tilt 2 is related to S2U2 or not...
I am wondering if it is a conflict between the NEW WM lock slider and S2U2. I have a corporate exchange, so I have to use the PIN access.
I have the PIN set to appear in one hour if not in use. However, when using the WM slide locker, it ALWAYS reveals the PIN pad. If the PIN access did not appear after every WM slide locker, I would use it.
I changed the settings in for the WM lock to use the classic - thus eliminating the WM slide to unlock.
I will leave it OFF the charger tonight and let you know the results tomorrow.
Switching to WM Classic for the lock screen seems to work.
The screen did not freeze when I went to turn off the alarm this morning.
So the solution to use S2U2 is to change the Lock screen on your device from Default to Classic.

Thanks for the follow-up. Yeah, I've done the same thing: switched from default to classic. Thanks again.
Screen Unlock Freezes on Tilt 2
I too had this problem right out of the box. I switched to the Windows Classic as prescribed. However, this prompted me to get out the hand held drill and put a small hole right in the side of the back cover. I found myself having to battle the back cover every time I needed to soft reset, plus I noted the stylus needed to be removed to properly seat the back cover upon reinstall. Now I simply pull out my stylus and stick it in my hole. STOP IT!

Screen Unlock Freezes on Tilt 2
I just recently purchased the HTC Tilt 2 from AT&T on 02/15/2010 and for a few times I can successfully use the screen lock and unlock feature but then it stops working and I have to go press the soft reset button. This is constantly a problem now. When I try to go and unlock my phone it allows me to move the little lock icon to the left or right but the screen remains locked.
I appreciate the suggestions to dumb down to the Classic mode but this is not acceptable for a brand new device. I hope HTC comes out with a hotfix for this soon! We need to make this issue known to HTC so they can begin debugging immediately. Or do I have a defective phone and I need to return my phone?

I have seen a post similar to this pop up multiple times in the past month. This guy was specifically having problems with his mail client.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634213
Personally I have only experienced this issue when the phone was next to my engine getting 400° temps blasted on it. Its hard to say the actual cause of the problem, but it seems in ideal situations (no 2000 e-mails or excessive heat) my phone is free of any freezing or strange behavior.
*edit*
also at the end of that post another user posted a work around that seems to be helping.

After returning my first HTC Tilt 2 phone and I got a second one, I got the same problem again.
I think I found the screen lock bug for the HTC Tilt 2 that I am able to reproduce. The problem is when I enable the Owner Information [Identification information or Notes] to display when the device is turned on and then try to slide the lock icon it will not unlock the phone.
HTC, please look into fixing this bug. Thanks!
Here are the steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Press the Windows logo start key (the second key on the bottom of your phone).
2. Choose Settings.
3. Choose Personal.
4. Choose Owner Information.
5. I populated everything on the Identification tab as well as a note to contact me on the Notes tab.
6. Choose the Options tab.
7. Check mark either the Identification information box or the Notes box.
8. Click OK
9. Now lock your phone by holding down the end call button.
10. Power off your phone.
11. Power on your phone.
12. Try to unlock your phone right away by sliding the lock all the way left or right.
13. You can slide the lock icon all you want but you will never get to unlock your phone.
14. You now need to soft reset your phone by taking the back cover off and using the stylus to press the side reset button. :-(
I hope this makes it into a downloadable bug fix. In the meantime, I have disabled (unchecked) any Owner Info notifications on device power up. I really miss having this on device power up as my old 7 year old Nokia phone was able to do that without a problem.
Hello all,
I try to change the homescreen wallpaper through TouchFlo in the Settings tab, some pictures don't work. I finally got it to work but then tried to change it through Window Mobile's option in Home Settings. Now, when the phone boots up as the HTC logo comes on, I see the one I set in WinMo and then it switches to the one I set through HTC. Any ideas why this is happening? And why don't I see some pictures on the wallpaper even though all my photo files are the same format?
Thanks!

When you set the wallpaper in the TF3D menu it over rides the one you set in the windows settings, You will should also see the pic you used in the windows setting as you start menu back ground. The reason you see one and then the other at start up is due to TF3D sitting on top of windows. If you want the start menu and background in TF3D to match you have to set both settings to the same pic. Not to sure why some of your pics are not showing up, sorry
