after i hear music with my trinity, when i'm trying to shut down the headset it stuck on "sonyericsson" screen and won't go off/on again.
the only sollution is to plug the charger. then it goes off and charging.

I had this headset and I thought it was terrific. Maybe you purchased one of the many bootlegs circling around of this model.

A little late to the game, I know, but...
You, like myself, have yourself a FAKE DS970 headset. Buy it from eBay with PayPal? Start a dispute with the seller now. Don't wait, there's a time limit.
You know it's fake if it sounds awful and locks up when you try turn it off. Those people should rot for selling these things in the first place.

I have too, this piece of ****.But i removed crapy earbuds and replaced other sony earphone. And became good BT Stereo headset...Quality is good now.
nice trick will try later. on 2 pda that i have.
New earphone type is mdr-e818 that is replaced instead of old (and crap)earbud .Sound very cool with this.Works well with Trinity and show incoming caller's name and number on the display. http://www.jetwaremobile.com/index.htm this progs helps in this.Maybe i will take a photo from my new hbh-ds970+mdr-e818 )
Hey where would i be able to buy that?
Does anyone have the issue where this stereo bluetooth only conencts to your original phone (in my case a PDA one) and wont connect to any other phone (yes i have tried eveything including going to multipoint function)

I had the same problem and found the solution to power off the headset.
In order do the following:
1. Switch off the BT communication from your PDA (mine is Goofiish X500)
2. Power off the HBH-DS970
It's works every time for me. For an unknow reason, if you try to do the reverse, the headset is stuck....
About the fake headset I've compared mine to these pictures http://213.19.178.16/se/ and it's seem to be genuine... or maybe they are perfect fake!!
Where do u buy a better earbud for this?
Here is a modified version of (fake) hbh-ds970 with mdr-e818 earphone http://nagc.fw.hu/sony.jpg
Tessy did you get more bass with those earphones?
and how did you do that? please tell me because i want to put hpm-70 earphones on my ds970
Just upgrade to the DS-980's. They look more stylish and I have been told that they are much louder than the older DS-970's.
i just want more bass, they are pretty loud....and i really want to know if changing the earphones produces more bass
Was thinking of getting some of these myself - how do you change the earphones on them? or is self explanatory when you get them?
Unfortunately, you can´t change the earphones. It's the price you will have to pay for having the mic on the cable instead of on the remote/thingie..
Check out HBH-DS200, it's a variant of the DS970/980 but with the mic on the device - and therefore changeable earphones. The DS-200 do not have all the functions like controlling audio or display who's calling...

Hi HeartofDarkness,
Thanks for your comments and please reply some more questions if you free.
-Phone Singal Indicator is correct or not?
-Is Incoming call Ring loud enoguh to hear if you put it in your shirt pocket?(With highest volume level)
-How is sound quality for listening MP3 songs?Good, acceptable, bad?
-Can it call to speed dial numbers?
Thanks in advance
Hi there
1 - There is no phone signal indicator; only an icon indicating whether you're online or the Tekkeon's connected. If it's signal strength you're looking for, it is not displayed on the headset screen;
2 - Hummm... In a silent environment, I'd say yes, probably, although you should know that I have pretty sharp hearing. I don't think it could be heard if it where in a jeans pocket, for instance, with the earpiece on the leg-side. But with the Tekkeon, it's not really a problem, because it is *extremely* comfy, and you can keep it on your ear and (litteraly) forget it's there after a while. The downside to this is that it's nearly impossible to run with it, for instance (I mean even to catch your bus or your train), because the ear-fit is pretty loose;
3 - Music quality is on par with other good non-stereo, non-AKU2 headsets, meaning: really bad. I'm talking about the kind of quality you hear when being put on wait when you call your bank, for instance. It's not because the headset's bad, nor because of the bluetooth connecion, it simply is a bandwidth problem. Hand-free mono-aural headsets are only designed to render frequencies in the human voice range, which is clearly too narrow for correct musical rendering;
4 - No, no speed-dial, only last dialed (through a short-cut, which is a good idea), and a list of the last received calls.
Overall sound quality - and I especially mean how well people on the other side of the line heard me - was (I say was because I don't have it anymore) quite good - on par with Sony-Ericsson and Jabra, which are IMHO references in that particular area - *except* in windy locations. And I mean that even a breeze caused my interlocutors to go "what ? what did'ya say ?" over and over again. That's where, IMHO, Tekkeon should have included even a little bit of DSP-based noise suppression.
I now have Jabra BT-800, and well, I'd be hard-put saying which I prefer. The Tekkeon was 10 times prettier, that's for sure. Connection indicator was a big plus with the Tekkeon too. I'd say the Jabra is better about sound quality in noisy places, but the fit is even looser, it's bulkier and although quite pretty, not nearly as pretty as the Tekkeon. The Tekkeon felt flimsier, especially the jack-type attachement between the ear-clip and the headset. Dunno how long that would have lasted before it became too loose and rendered the headset unusuable, my money is on "really not very long". Jabra's got more autonomy, and has a vibrator so that you can keep it in your pocket and still be sure to get all calls.
Hope this helps.
Hi HeartofDarkness,
Really thanks for your detailed explanations. It helps me a lot in thinking to buy which headset. Until now, there is no new headset with Screen Display is going to come out as far as I saw.
Thanks
Yeah, picking up *the* BT headset's quite a challenge.
Personnally, and having been through quite a few of them, I'd really like to see a cross between these three:
- Sony Ericsson HBH-608 for its DSP technology;
- Nokia BH-900 for its sliding mic. that comes almost all the way to the mouth, improving by the ten-fold the way my interlocutors hear me;
- Tekkeon ezTalker 3000 (which is the same as V3 you're interested in) for its OLED screen.
Or else, I'd really love to see Motorola come out with a version of their HT-820 head-phones that includes a screen. I don't know how they did it, but the mic. in these head-phones is really, really good, people can hear me loud & clear even in windy / noisy locations, and sound quality for music listening is actually quite good. Granted it's a bit bulky, but it's extremely well designed, so....
Hi heartofdarkness,
How long it takes to display the Caller ID after the call ring on the phone for V3 BTH8. Is it too long?
I am also looking at following stereo Bluetooth headsets. Has anyone experiences? Both are with small earphones unlike big headsets of most stereo. And they are with Caller ID display.
-SonyEricsson HBH DS970
-Nokia HS 12W(Also with FM radio, Stell Cover)
Display of the name is instantaneous: instead of a number, you get a name.
The two headset you show are pretty nice although I hate the fact that you can't change the ear-buds for better ones. In that respect, I'd definitly go myself for the Sony Ericsson rather than the Nokia, because the buds seem to be derived from the fairly good Sony EX-51. The Nokia buds just look like 5 $ earphones....
Can anyone tell me if this headset has a blinking blue LED when in standby or when talking on it?
I don't remember if it was actually blinking, but there is an icon that shows it is connected to your phone, on the screen, even when in stand-by mode.
Jabra BT 800 vs V3 BTH8
I would recommend the Jabra. I own both of these units. The Jabra has a much clearer sound. Callers used to complain about the cutouts and poor sound quality of the V3. The Jabra also has an inbuilt vibrator, which means that you get the call even in noisy environments. Used with the Jetware plug in you get caller ID showing the surname of the caller. You can't get the address book however. I think that this is a WM5 limitation.
The V3 however has several advantages. The LED readout is easier to read than the LCD of the Jabra. The V3 is also rock solid on your ear, and feels like it will never come loose. The Jabra feels like it will fall off in a strong wind or when you lean your head.
The V3 uses a membrane that fits into your ear which means it cuts out background noise, which is good and bad. The Jabra uses a louder signal but doesn't seal to the ear canal.
Incidentally, I get the ring tone in the headset about 2 second before the phone makes a peep.
Hi!
I have the v3 and I've been using it for almost 10 months now with my dopod900. I eventually got used to guessing the caller since it couldnt read from dopod. but i upgraded the rom and now it could read the address book.. but still no caller id.

i cant seem to get jetware to work on caller ID on my dopod900 ...
its the latest firmware ..
whenever i answer yes to the " extension is not loaded... ?" My Plantronics 510 stop working with my jasjar . I have to answer no, so it works, but I must say that even this " no" improved a bit the qyuality of my speech , as most of the people claim that there is a lot of interruption while am talking .
Can some body tell me how I can defeat this interruptions ? would sonyericsin HBH 810a helps ?

...if you like AM Radio sound. I returned mine, the sound quality was awful, nowhere near that of cabled headphones. And speaking of cables, the DS970 headset has a lot of them, to the point of not being much different than using regular ones. During the short time I used them, a lot of it was spent untangling them
Ditto, except I didn't return mine.
I just regret everytime I use them.
AM Radio? Your AM radio is THAT BAD?

Of course the sound is not as great as giant cans strapped to your head. For what they are, I am satisfied.

AM radio was because you probably left them in headset mode instead of stereo bluetooth. PEBCAC
Nope... I tried a number of things, including a registry entry I found that was supposed to improve stereo bluetooth performance. None of it worked. With all those wires it seemed rather pointless to use them. Glad you like them -- I imagine anyone who thinks they sound OK might want the go to their local Costco on free-hearing-test day

Hi all,
I'm wondering what headset (Bluetooth/Wired) you use for your Note? I'm using Marshall Minor, but I still find the volume not loud enough.
Would any of you recommend something else? I live in Hong Kong which is fairly noisy, so something that has good volume would be great.
Thanks in advance!
I haven't got a Note yet, but I use the Sony MW600 bluetooth headset with my HD2. And I'd be lost without it - best thing I've bought!
No problems syncing to the device, it has remote control (pause, next/previous), hands free talk as it has built in mic, and comes with in ear buds, which are very good indeed. They block out quite a bit of external noise too, but you can plug in any headset you want to it if you want to go to higher spec headphones. Battery lasts about 10 hours continuous use, and it will re-charge of your Note's charger.
I'm not an audiophile, but I do like music. And it does me fine.
http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.ph...w600---black?gclid=CLftmIS1n6wCFYEZ4QodOzpc_Q
Edit - Just had a look at the Marshalls, and these would offer a tighter fit in the ear then the Marshalls, so would block out more external noise. I wear mine in work, even if i'm not listening to music. I work in the print industry with loud machinery, and they are better than the ear plugs we get given, which reduce external noise by 27 dB. If I'm listening to music in work while my machines are running, and you want to chat - then you ain't gonna get through unless you're in my face!

My previous headset was the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800
Compared to the Sonys:
- They seem to fit better in my ear (they come with 3 different bud sizes)
- The earbuds are slightly larger and so I guess they do stick out a little more, though I haven't noticed any issue with it
- An extra 2 hours of call/music time
- Have FF/RW controls as well as volume adjust (The Sony's only have Play/Pause/Answer)
- I haven't had any issues with people hearing me or me hearing other people when using them, but I've yet to test them somewhere really noisy
- They come in Red (if that's your thing)

I was thinking about this but didnt bother getting one once i saw the Note, not as big as the press would have u believe!

Few more feature i cant remember now, worth having a look at.

Besides being a gadget phone nut I am also a sick buyer of headsets. I have been in search of the perfect headset forever ..
There is one by Sony that I love the way it fits. They don't make it any more and every now and then I find one on eBay ..
I have the Sennheiser bluetooth headset. If you look hard you can find one new on eBay most of the time for about $60 .. I like that one a lot because I have small ear holes and those go on the outside of your ear ..
I also have 2 Bang & Olafsen bluetooth headsets .. One left ear which I am keeping and the other right ear which I am gonna sell when I find it .. I also have the wired Bang & Olafsen head set. I read that it has a teeny tiny microphone somewhere .. I don't know if that is my model .. use it for listening to music ..
I actually have a box of discarded bluetooth headsets. I should put them all together in one lot and sell them. Maybe I will do that today. Don't know if I can find all the chargers though .. They are all discarded because I find them uncomfortable to wear.
For music or movies I use the Sennheiser M400s which have a nice balanced sound and good battery life. For calls, it's hard to go past the Plantronics Discovery 975 - small and sleek, super comfortable to wear, and really good battery life (especially with the included charging case).......
I can't wear anything that doesn't go around the ear. And if it goes in the ear, ugh. After a half hour I have to take it out because it gets painful. Maybe if I had bigger ears .. or Man Ears .. it wouldn't be so bad. They are doing hearing aid implants now, maybe they could do a little bluetooth implant ??

I got these 2 days ago from Amazon:

the quality while talking is not the best but its enough for me.
Despite the positive comments about the quality of just listening to music, i can hear some "scratches" when a song gets "heavier". This is my first BT Headset so maybe its normal for BT headsets, or i just overlooked a setting i have to change in the Software.. Hint, anyone?

Hi, thanks for replying. I do not have a budget in mind, my usual principle is to pay what's worth its salt.
So far, everyone's recommended bluetooth wireless headsets, I'm not a big fan of charging stuff, having need to recharge my phone nightly already. But if there are no better wired devices out there, I might as well get Bluetooth because call quality is more important to me than music quality which my Marshall Minor does just fine.
I'm looking for a $100 max wired in-hear headset with mike and very complete remote too. It seems Android is not very friendly with those at all, so I'm thinking I'll have to go Bluetooth. What I found:
- http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/mc2.html, if their software works on Note (untested)
- a-JAYS One+, coming in Dec.: http://www.jays.se/products/earphones/a-jays-one-plus.html (uses software too)
- Sennheiser just confirmed they have nothing wired.
- Klipsch: Image S4A http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones being adapted for S2, Note = S2 ?
- Samsung: told me to go f... (...ind a solution by) myself
Soft: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kober.headset , and others, look for "headset control". This one has a trial version, yeahhhh ^^
EDIT: I'm putting everything worthwhile I find in this post, so as not to spread it all over the place.

hi all... just like to pop a quick question:
does the Gnote able to accept the standard wired headphones w/mic from other brands for example: UE? i am on galaxy S and i have been searching for headphone w/mic to replace the original ones from samsung but as usual when i connect other brands of headphone w/mic to my S; all i can hear is the music.. whenever i am making calls the headphone fails me...

I'll try and sort one out later today.
A couple of days ago I didn't know what Apt-X was, but now I know, and... finally understand why bluetooth streaming was so horrible with my HTC Desire!
So since the S3 has this codec, and since I am going to get the S3, I would like to know which is the best bluetooth stereo headset out there that supports this?
HS3000 looks good, and might be the thing for me but it's more than a year old AFAIK. Any other suggestions? Can be any brand.
EDIT: Sound quality is priority.

What's the issue with the HS3000 being a year old? I have one and use it with my One X (also Apt-X capable), great piece of kit and cheap too. Besides that Apt-X headsets are fairly scarce at present, I know Sennheiser have several, but the prices are rather prohibitive...
If you want a real capable headphone, Sennheiser MM-550x/450x seems like a true winner in that regard
I'm looking for a new Bluetooth headset for music too... i'm currently using a Sony Ericsson MW600 which is pretty good but I'm keen to get something with apt-x support.
The HS3000 looks ok but ideally i'd like a display so i can see the number of people who call and also track information... does anyone know of a bluetooth headset with apt-x support which also has a display?
Well i'm gonna throw my MW-600 on it. It has superb sound and served me well in both my HTC Wildfire and Huawei U8800... Although if the in-ear buds that samsung provides, sound good i wont bother replacing them
Are any of the headsets mentioned "lossless" when walking fast?

Don't really think they're worth it. For that price you could have the HS3000 and buy a set of $200 IEMs and a set of $200 cans which you can use with anything with a 3.5mm output, or even use the HS3000 as an input for anything with a 3.5mm input. For most people that'll be a much higher value proposition.

For that price you could have the HS3000 and buy a set of $200 IEMs and a set of $200 cans which you can use with anything with a 3.5mm output, or even use the HS3000 as an input for anything with a 3.5mm input. For most people that'll be a much higher value proposition.

Well i'm gonna throw my MW-600 on it. It has superb sound and served me well in both my HTC Wildfire and Huawei U8800... Although if the in-ear buds that samsung provides, sound good i wont bother replacing them

Thanks, I'll check out this model. Looks to be cheaper than the HS3000 too. If the sound quality is good I might buy it..
EDIT: It doesn't seem to support apt-x!

Aren't they all?
I'd like to know this too because their main application would be in the gym.

I wear mine hanging from my neck when out cycling and it's fine.
Another vote for HS3000, it supports Apt-X. Using it with my HOX with some £170 iems and sounds fine for wireless playback. Small and compact.

I read that cable noise (thump thump) can be heard easily. Is it true?

How much of a difference is there when you connect those directly without the bluetooth?

got the HS3000 two days ago, and i must say its atleas as good as the mw600 it sounds good feels good well its all good BUT thers a damn BUT in there, its the answer button everytime you press it but mistake or otherwise it want's to redial the last number dialed. i havnt found a workaround other than installing a "call confirm" app. so now i only need a tasker profile to activate this between the hours i need it to.
Been using the Nokia Essence, it also has NFC (unfortunatly it doesnt work as planned with Android Devices). However, it does its job pretty well and did i mention it has NFC?

Yes real easy, I'm hoping that someone will develop an call confirm app that turns on at bt connect, the only apps I have found turns call confirm off on bt connection.

Sony is supposed to be releasing the Smart Wireless Headset Pro which appears to have all features of the MW600 with the addition of a micro-SD card slot (2GB card included) and Bluetooth 3.0. It looks like a nice upgrade from the MW600, but it appears that it does not support apt-X as this feature is not listed under the specs tab. It's also a bit expensive, but the street price might be somewhere south of the MSRP of $149.
EDIT: Some features are shown in this video

I think he meant to ask you how exactly it is getting pressed accidentally.
My 3.5 mm input is broken. The plug is broken inside it and I tried everything but I can't get it out. Is there any other way for me to listen to music (without the speaker)? I'm asking what the alternatives are. Can I use bluetooth or will this give me problems since the phone still thinks there is a headphone plugged in it? Can somebody try that out that has a bluetooth headset? I also ordered this thing:
MicroUSB to 3.5mm Adapter from SpecialPhones.nl (I can't post links yet)
Is that possible? Or do I also have the problem that the device still thinks something is still plugged in it?
Thanks!
You can use Bluetooth earphones/headphones..
I have used 5 years old Nokia's Bluetooth headphones with my Nexus, works well!

If you have time, could you check if it is possible to get music out of the bluetooth headphones while a 3.5mm is plugged in it?
This seems like a good option, but I want to be sure it works:
Jabra Clipper Bluetooth Headset
I hope there is an option, commuting without music has been really torture for me
I actually prefer bt to the 3.5 jack, it's all I use. And I don't think the quality suffers at all, I found it to be louder. Although the InChargeAudioBT thing I use in the car may be amplified - I dunno.
I think it chooses jack sound over Bluetooth, haven't tried though (Bluetooth headset is at work).

Hi, can anyone checkn the bluetooth/3.5mm combo? I really need to know this before I going to purchase that Jabra? Thanks!
man, this is the simplest part of the phone you can change.
when you put off the cover housing, (6 screws), at the bottom, you have 1 screw , unscrew it, detach the flex on the left, and put out the jack part (everything is fixed on a plastic attachment)
put the new one, connect the flex again, screw, put cover housing, 6 screws and you are done.
cheap piece more over.. 7 min to do the whole stuff , guaranteed

Hmm, thought it would be hard. Is it easy to get that cover off? And do you know where I can buy a replacement for this model?
I want both option open, so if anyone has time to check that Bluetooth thingy that would be great

If you have the 3.5 mm jack plugged in to the Jack hole and you have enabled Bluetooth headphones, you will only hear from BT headphones!
At least it works for me on my modified stock Jelly Bean 4.2.1 with CyanogenMod 9 Music Player!

Ah, good to hear. Thanks!
I'm looking into buy the bluetooth if I get it repaired or not. The phone (not only this phone) keeps raping my earphones plugs (and vice versa the jack now) because it is so big and keeps pushing against my body when I walk or when I am on a bike.

Thanks for the help everyone! Can't wait to hear some music again, don't know if I'm going the survive the two weeks (shipping)..
