Connect GPS via USB to 8525 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I have a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx which has a mini USB. I want to connect the GPS to my HTC PocketPC, Cingular 8525. Anybody has an idea whether it can be done. If possible where can I find such a cable to connect from the phone to the miniUSB on the GPS.
Thanks,

GPS on 8525
I have the same Garmin and an 8525. Using a cable with gps is not very satisfying. I also have a Globalsat 359 bluetooth receiver which works extremely well with TomTom on my 8525.

Just a FYI, since no cell phone I have ever heard of is a USB Host, this will never be possible. Bluetooth is your only way to go. I use the Holux GPSSlim 236 and it works great!

NO CAN DO..... only bluetooth..

Bluetooth gps with cable

I have used a Fortuna GPSmart bluetooth gps with xda2, I bought an optional cable which powers the xda2 and the gps and also allows data connection to xda or xda2, it needs to be set to Tomtom gps, nmea 38400 and Com 1, beams must be switched off in settings/connections/beams. I also have a Holux GR-230 bluetooth gps, I tried the cable from the Fortuna, with the same settings and it also works perfectly as a wired gps while charging both xda/xda2 and gps. This may be of interest to somebody.
Help
Hi. I have also just purchased the cable and being really stupid l Can't get it to work. Where do I change the settings you mentioned? thanks.
Go to the "gps" section of tomtom, choose nmea 38400 and com 1.

i-mate jasjar not work with parrot ck3300 gps

help me
I have a Imate Jas-Jar windows mobile 2005. A new version of GPS Nav-N-Go was released for WM 2005 I installed it and it doesn't work! It doesn't recognize my GPS on the Parrot CK3300.
I talked with the Nav-N-Go developers and they told me that the Nav-N-Go works with 9 GPS antenna's. It seems to me that the problem is in the definition of a communication "COM port".
Please help me to solve this problem. Is there a way to define a "COM port" for GPS in the CK3300

JasJar & TomTom5 using a Parrot 3300 for GPS & Phone
I also have a Jas Jar badged as an Orange SPVM5000 and have similar problems. I am not a techie by any meands but I do not think the problem is with the Parrot 3300.
The Bluetooth pairing connects Parrot and Phone.
Setting the com port is identifying where the incoming gps signal is made of available on the phone.
TomTom5 is the sat nav software I use and it seems only to work by connecting to certain com ports. Unfortunatley, the phone does not like assigning the connection to this port.
Elsewhere on this site there are instructions which allowed me to pair the phone with another GPS BT reciever I use when out and about.
The same procedure will not work with pasiring the parrot.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can pair with the Parrot to get the phone and gps working?
You may find some answers here -- worth a try, anyway.

02XDA2S cradle/wired TomTom Probs

Hi, new member so be gentle...
I've just got my XDA2S and installed tomtom, tried to connect it through a cradle bought from pdamods which clearly states tomtom on it, also a wired receiver, unfortunately the tomtom cant see the receiver. Am I doing something wrong here?
The receiver works ok as I have a HP4150 with tomtom on that recognises it and can do its usual nav stuff without any issues.
Tips/Help much appreciated.

Use Artemis as GPS Reciever for PC?

Is there a Programm to use the Artemis als Bluetooth GPS Reciever on a PC?
I don't know if this is possible but it would be nice. I dont want to buy a gps dongle for my laptop when the artemis can do it. ^
if you're going to use pc inside a building there is very little chance that you'll get any gps signal at all. if it's a laptop and you want to run around with it outside, that should be ok. i don't know any software for it but keep looking.
Franson GPS Gate should do the job

hibut how toconfigure it that artemisworks line bt gps?
Establish a bluetooth connection over bluetooth using a serial port. Open GPS2Blue and set it to Com4 for GPS and 4800 Baud and select the right com port you are using for the bt-serial connection. Should work.

Bluetooth gps setup

Hi, I am trying to get my MDA Compact & SPV M500 to recognise my Bluetooth GPS Unit I bought recently The Unit is A Copilot BT-GPS-365E50. My problem is, I installed Mobile Bluetooth Tools and it installed with no problems. It recognises my GPS Unit, but when pairing the devices the com port setup screen flashes for a moment then disappears. I therefore cannot setup a BT Serial Port. Any suggestions? Is it the GPS Unit? Is it not compatible with my MDA. I have tried this on both my Phones and get the same result. They are both HTC Magicians. I used this process on an XDA II with no problems. I just want to get my SatNav up and running. Hope myou can help and thanks for reading..
use nav n go Igo8
sirftech
Hi!
I also use iGO 8, ith connects automatically. If you like to use tomtom for instance, then I would use the SirfTech tool to establish the connection to your BT-GPS and then run your Nav applcation.
Cheers
Lui
