Hello, this one has been bugging me for a while.
The mru list that is the recent applications show 7 icons and 3 hidden ones.
If anyone knows of a reg hack or method that would allow 7 icons and say ... 13 hidden ones it would rock, id never use the start menu again.
I played with it under my home screen settings but it doesnt seem to be in there. i think its a registry edit...
Any ideas or help is appreciated..
MRU!
MRU ? For Windows Mobile 6 ?

Hi,
I want to hide or disable the windows taskbar, the commandbar and the startmenu. I've tried to use a registry editor to deactivate the taskbar but it didn't work. My own application is in fullscreen mode,
but I want to hide the taskbar and the commandbar in other (not self programmed) applications, too.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you for answering...!
I 'm not that technical but I may give you a hint ... you may take a snapshot of the registry DB before and while running ftxBrowser application. It has an option to hide both task and title bars ... maybe this will show you the effective Key name & value
Thanks a lot,
but that doesn't help me...
FtxBrowser doesn't run on my pocket pc (mda 3.19.03).
haven't programmed the pda, but have done a number of windows apps. Try changing the size of the bar to 1 pixel wide.
Hello guys,
After a long search on the web I can't find the answer to "How to create a control panel shortcut on Windows Mobile".
Out of the box, our Rhodium are packaged with a "Settings" shortcut in the start menu which links to the Settings tab of Manilla. I find this annoying, if i want to go to the manilla settings, i use manilla not the start menu.
So I want a direct link to Windows' control panel. I've seen many ways to link to a specific applet, but not the whole control panel.
Anyone can help ?
PS : Also I'm looking for the HTCSettings.exe file stored in every Rhodium (WM6.5 version)... I've accidentally deleted it :/
Thanks !
I am not sure I understand the question, but I think what you want is to be running TouchFLO instead of Windows Default.. If that is correct, the solution is simple. Click Start>Settings>ToDay>Items>TouchFLO 3D>OK>X and you should have it. What you want is to be running TouchFLO instead of Windows Default.
Hope that helps.
what he is saying is that he wants to got to the control panel or "settings" from the start menu, when you hit start and then settings it takes you to manilla settings
What annoys me is that the Bluetooth and Today screen prefs are ONLY available through the Windows CPL, things like QuickMenu don't see them..
You got is cs400, that's what I'm looking for.
Someone can send me the original HTC Settings.exe (Located in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs) ?
Okay guys, I figured out how to solve this problem by hanging around in the registry !
How to change the "Settings" icon in the Start Menu to make it open WM's Control Panel rather than Manilla's settings panel ?
- First go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and remove (or move) the file HTC Settings.exe
- Then go to the registry \HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo and change the value HideSettings from 1 to 0
- Reboot your device, it's done !
I am trying to change the 'Settings' button in the Start Menu to open the WM Control Panel instead of the Manila settings, however, the \HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo key does not exist in my registry. Is there another way to link to the Control Panel? Thanks!
WM control panel shortcut
I would appreciate anyone telling me how to make a shortcut that links to the WM Control Panel.
Thanks!

Click to collapse
Thank-you a million times! Just installed something that crashed my HTC Sense, and couldn't for the life of me work out how to get to Remove Programs so I could un-install it! I now have my phone back, without having to go down the hard-reset route which I'd feared was my only option.
you could do as htc intended and clicked "all settings" on the settings tab for those manila doesnt cover.
Which would have worked brilliantly....had I been able to get to the settings tab in the first place.
With Sense freezing, I had to run the 'change my background' option from 'Getting Started' to get into the Today options and disable Sense. Then use the tips in this thread to get the Settings folder back on my Start Menu. Normally I would have used the All Settings option, but couldn't in this case, and it's funny how much you don't realise is missing from a start menu....until you need it!
I am using WM6.1 ROM which is last updated by HTC.
By default I can add maximum 7 program shortcuts to the Windows Start menu.
Hence Blackstone screen is 800 pixels long there is extra space for 2 more shortcuts but windows mobile does not allow me to add more than 7. I use Resco Explorer to manually add shortcuts I want to the start menu.
Is there a registry tweak or something which will enable me to change this maximum number of allowable shortcuts in the start menu?
Thanks.
Hmm ... guess there is not an easy solution as nobody has replied.
I would really appreciate if any of more experienced guys out there would help me about this.
Thanks a million......
Nobody answered because I think no one understand what you mean.
Which start menu you are talking about?
If you have WM6.5 there is no limitation in number of icons
And if you are using WM6.1 use Rhodium base cooked ROM which you can have Manila's program tab instead of start menu
Sorry if my post is not clear in the beginning. I have edited my initial post and I hope now it is more clear.
I am trying to find a solution without changing ROM.
Thanks a lot
i fear you will have to use a 3rd party software . you might want to take a peek at wisbar lite
I have previously tried Wisbar Advance but I don't like it.
As it is only 2 extra icons I need to include I was wondering maybe it is possible with a registry tweak .
Thanks for the advice
I recently moved from Dutty WM 6.1 to EnergySun WM 6.5 application and I have, as usual, disabled HTC Manila.
Is WM6.1, when I click start button (top left) the top bar would show the last 4 lauched applications. A very nice applet, I guess, whose name I am unaware of.
The 4 last used applications were displayed on top of the main window, at the left of the icons showing clock, network signal, wifi signal level, etc.
Now, in WM6.5, when I click start, yes, I can have the whole desktop appear, but this nice applet is gone...in other words, I cannot see anymore the 4 last used applications on the top bar.
Can someone point me to where I can download this small program to display (on top bar) the 4 last used applications?
Thanks
Saulo
or shall I assume that this is not a tiny program but just a setting?
If so probably I can make the top bar re-appear (showing the last used applications) simply by tweaking with WVGA Tweak?
If yes, can someone please explain how to do?
Thanks a lot
Saulo
I have tried to use WVGA Tweak and Advanced Config, but I see no settings to change there to enable this feature (to show the 4 last opened programs)
Can somebody share his suggestions?
Thanks
Saulo
Personally, I use wisbar advance 3...gives me options to use cascading menus along with most recent applications...pretty good so far and gives the phone a nice pc feel...
Thank you Telegraph!
Can you kindly point the link for the latest version? I wish to give it a try
Again thanks
Saulo
I have found the link:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/
I wish to try it, but anyway are there other similar applications available, fee-based or freeware?
Thanks
Saulo
sent you a PM
My Sprint Touch Pro2 running the stock WM 6.5 ROM suddenly started having an issue with the start menu. The text under the program icons seem to have become smaller. More importantly, when I slide open the keyboard, the icons still appear in 3 columns. Before, when I slide open the keyboard, the icons would expand and fill the width of the screen. This has been annoying me! Does anyone know where the setting is to fix this or a registry tweak?
I was messing with the registry settings for the HTC audiomanager (I cannot get rid of ringtones in the HTC sense library, and still can't!), so I may have changed some registry setting, but I am pretty sure I did not.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know a solution for this?
I have the same problem. I didn't change anything in the registry but suddenly the font in the start menu is smaller and the start menu doesn't change when I slide open the keyboard.
Never heard of it... Interesting...
