Flashing ROM and Vista (x64), no problem! - P3600 ROM Development

I flashed 2 ROM's made by DOPOD and HTC with Vista x64. They both worked without any problem and without replacing any driver (I just use WMDC 6.1 x64).
I tried to flash AX3L_OS_v2.0.8.1 and I got connection 260 problems.
I solved it by copying the RUU_signed.nbh from AX3L into the directory of the RUU_Trinity_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.00.707.17_6275_1.46.00.11_108_Ship (DOPOD WM6 SEA), after that .. flashing isn't a problem.
The ROMUpdateUtility of AX3L has version 3.1.3.2 and of the DOPOD SEA ROM 3.14.4.1. for example, does this make the difference? I don't know, but maybe this helps to improve the installation of the custom ROM's.

Thanks for the info Stingray66. I recently re-installed 32bit XP on my machine (now triple boot) so that I could perform ROM updates at home as well as work.
I need XP for other things at the mo, too, so not a problem, maybe this will save me from having to reboot into XP to flash. Thx.

very interesting... so now we're just waiting on someone to get this updated RUU to push SSPL before flashing so people don't need CID unlock I guess?

I flashed at work (XP) too and modified the driver in the Vista (x86) at home with the VistaRUU.zip (contains a ActiveSync 4.5 driver). I don't really like that because when you switch USB-port etc. then you have to replace it again.
I had Vista (x64) installed just before my holidays and flashed the device with the unofficial (beta?) HTC WM6 ROM without a problem. I didn't pay much attention to it 3.5 weeks ago, because the holidays came closer and closer.
BTW That ROM worked fine incl. WLM and TomTom. We did 2400 km on the internal GPS. It's a bit slower with short turns then the SIRFIII, but works ok. The internal GPS does f*ck up the GPRS connection when the GRPS is switching spots for example inside Paris or when you cross borders. (I understand now why HTC disabled the GPS feature in the P3600).
Today I flashed the SEA version also without a problem. I was wondering what AX3L has done the last 4 weeks so I flashed the 2.8.1 but I had the 260 connection problem.
When the device is in the bootloader and when I look under the device manager of Vista, the version of the HTC USB Sync driver is 6.1.6965.0. Unpacking AX3L_OS_v2.0.8.1.zip and running the update utility give a error 260. D810_SEA_WM6_Upgrade_20070709.zip works fine.
Replacing the RUU_signed.nbh is a solution, double checked it.

I dunno
I do know that my bootloader has been changed to IPL-1.00 and SPL-9.99.CP, but I can still flash any ROM.

yeah, the ipl must be from the official ROM, and SPL9.99 from AX3L's rom i guess. What i meant was, once someone puts sspl in this new RUU then anyone could flash with it regardless of SPL or CID unlock.. anyway, good find!

The new SPL-3.03.0000 installed by the DOPOD WM6 Installer

Ok, talk about it here.
It just installed over my Olipro SPL and before I knew it, it said INVALID VENDOR ID.
Now I can't update to WM6 because of my SPL that is CID locked. I am however able to install an original ROM.
Questions (yet to be answered):
1) Is it possible to run SSPL?
2) Are we able to get Hard-SPL on it again.
If not;
3) Are we able to write a new SSPL that can hack this bootloader.
I don't even know whether it is locked, but I assume they did find out about our SSPL and Hard-SPL.
well i just flashed back to pdaviet's rom from the new WM6 (nothing very impressive about it). I just let the updater push sspl to my phone and it worked. haven't tried loading hard-spl yet.
After flashing to an original rom were you then able to update to WM6?
OK, When I got back in to WM5 i was able to get into SSPL again. It shows SPL-1.07.ds
But we will have to make sure we can rewrite it. I can't test it now, have to go to work. I will check it this afternoon.
OK, i think essentially what this new IPL/SPL does it overwrite your existing, restore any CID locks and vendor ID's as well.
If you have a Dopod branded device from the areas this release is for, you'll have no issues.
I was able to easily update using this rom, then run Olipro's hard SPL after to return to 1.20 Hard SPL

I had the same issue stuck at 28% - I fell back to the last V5 WWE rom and run SSPL (latest Trin) before update to V6 again.

You need NEW supercid. Я сам с этими проблемами столкнулся. i dont know this for english.
I had OliPro SPl befor upgrading and have upgraded without any problem. Just run RUU and followed instructions.
I have an idea.
1. RUU flashed SPL 3.03 (so at that moment my phone became cid locked)
2.Probably my phone have the same cid as that ANZ rom. That's why i had no problems.
So all your problems are in new SPL and new logic for flashing device.
for flash new rom you should
1. unpack nbh file
2. use nbhgen to create new nbh with OS/RADIO/EXTROM/IPL only. WITHOUT SPL
3. use SSPL or hardSPL for flash this new nbh
4. enjoy

Newbie very frustrated...

I wanted to upgrade my phone to schaps wm6pro and from what I understand in order to do that I need to first put on HardSPL. I have been trying to follow his instructions at:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php...ask=view&id=52&Itemid=26&limit=1&limitstart=2
Nothing seems to work for me though. When I try to install HardSPL my phone goes to the 4-color screen but then I get a 260 connection error. I am using Vista but he had a section telling how to make Vista work properly and I followed those instructions but that didn't help either. I have made sure it isn't the cable or any physical problem so I am just baffled. As I understand it once I get HardSPL on I can then load Schaps wm6pro because it temporarily unlocks it or something like that.
I have SPL 2.03 on my phone now it says and I tried just installing Schaps wm6 but when I did it wouldn't auto detect the SPL and the only options it gave were 2.02/2.10 and some a lot earlier. It didn't list a 2.03.
Thanks,
Keith

Try to upgrade with XP and selecting SSPL instead (your PDA must work to do this).
Regards.
make sure you are using version 6.1 of Windows Mobile Device Center. I have Vista Ultimate 64 and with version 6.1 of WMDC and it work 'out of the box' no extra setup and service tweaking / driver installs required.
I seem to have WMDC 6.16 and I am also using Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
Look at this site, maybe it helps.
// Kula
That is the site I was referring to. Tomorrow at work I will try using one of the XP machines and see if that works any better.

Tried it with an XP machine and it worked perfectly. Love it! This is a great improvement over the AT&T software.

Can not update HTC P3600i

Hey,
Sturggling with this now, so here asking for help.
Got a new P3600i here. For whatever reason, i CAN NOT run SSPL or any RUU updater. everytime it runs, it goes to reboot to the tri colour screen, but hangs on a black screen. I can't use any tools to unlock the phone, update, apply hard SPL etc.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
thanks

for now, not, but you can describe the version of rom, and if it will be upgraded, it can possible to try to extract it and post!!
bye!
Well, thats the funny thing, its the exact same:
ROM: 3.00.707.18
Date: 07/24/07
Radio: 1.46.30.11
Protocol: 32.79.7020.19H
IPL: 1.00
SPL: 3.03.0000
Its exactly the same as latest WM6 official ANZ rom.
Any ideas??
That's why I wanted an extracted version of the P3600i ROM.
It can't be the same as the Dopod WM6 version for the P3600 (ordianary Trinity) because it's about 25MB bigger than the Dopod ANZ version. There must be something added to the P3600i ROM.
Can you try flashing to the Official Dopod ANZ WM6 version (ROM: 3.00.707.18) from the HTC website to see what happens?
Better still, if you know how extract the P3600i ROM so one of the many tech wiz's aroud here can have a look for you.
Anyone who knows how to extract the ROM plz can you post a step by step for those of use who don't know how.

Thats thew thing. I downloaded the offical ANZ WM6 update for the D810/P3600 and updated using that. Worked perfect, updated and no problems, exactly the same as was on there.
However, i then tried to "downgrade" to an official WM5 rom, but its stops at 1% then reboots phone??
So
WM6 Dopod ANZ ROM which takes up about 73MB on the P3600, will take up 96MB on the P3600i? WTF?
Perhaps it has something to do with extended ROM. I know that with the
P3600, you could not use the extended ROM after updating to the Dopod ANZ ROM...not sure if that's indicative of anything.
Are you flashing with an SD card still in the device? If so try flashing with SD card removed.

So there is a difference between the ROM that came with the P3600i (Giving 160MB free storage) & Official WM6 Dopod ANZ ROM (Giving 174MB Free Storage).
If it's any help, when I buy my P3600i, I'll be sure to extract the Original ROM BEFORE I flash it. It might help someone figure out your flashing issue.
Thing is I don't know how to extract ROMs. Can anyone help?

MMM, theres seomthing (buggered if i know what) in the EXT rom that adds that 14mb. I didnt run the extended rom, and i saved 14mb. If i let it run fully, it ends up with 160mb free.
Also, no WM5 HTC or dopod rom works. They all state that the update file is corrupted and reboots at 1%.
I called HTC, and said i "had to have WM5" due to software and in the infinate helpfulness told me to buy a Dopod D810 then. Theres no WM5 available for the HTC p3600i.
I think theres something in the SPL/IPL thats stopping any SSPL bootloaders being pushed onto the device, which then stops flashing anything else...
Hopefully someone will figure it out.

Why don't you use the registry tweak to show the extended ROM to see what's in there?
Doesn't the extended ROM automatically run itself? How did you stop it?

If you reset before the ext rom runs, it doesnt run on reboot. I don't care for all the customised crap half the time and choose to install what i need.
Well, i'll settle for the fact i'll have to manually install each app/tweak etc until a time i can update the phone.
I will say though, that having used the D810 for the last 5 months, everyday, this one seems a LOT faster (even using the official rom as well). the extra 100mhz seems to of made a big difference. now to see how it effects battery life.
OK, honestly would love some help from anyone that can :s
Tried all the following things now:
Using MTTY
Using SPL Exploit (finds overflow, says is done, SPL remains the same.)
Using DES SPPL
Running SSPL on device seperatly
And flashing various official WM5 roms in the hope it downgrades IPL/SPL.
All have resulted int he same outcome.... NOTHING!
I'm guessing this is HTC's new method of preventing flashing roms, and is likely to obviously be on other roms in the future. Was hopiung someone (Oli, pof, Des etc) may have a solution or would like more info form me to find one??
No progress?
Nope
None.
Beyond my technical skills now, so its up to the gods of modding (Oli, Des, POF etc) or its never getting flashed.
Mind you, seems to be stable as at the moment using the official rom, so not too worried.
i wonder if this has something to do with the new ipl? maybe ipl 1.00 plus whatever is hidden in the 3600i rom or extrom or whatever makes it not able to flash unofficial roms.. Cause there's nothing else really different than p3600's that we know about.. and some people (inlcuding me) have ipl 1.0 from the official ROM upgrade.. so maybe there's something else in there that works with it to block the upgrade process..
Well, its not in the EXT rom, and it probably can't be in the normal rom as its the exact same (meaning i downloaded and flashed) the ANZ WM6 official rom. Only thing possible i can think of is possibility its a hardware revision stopping it, but it won't let you even run SSPL software either.
Everything i do, SPL Exploit, DES SSPL, RUU Updater, Hard SPL et all ALL result in it "almost" going to the modified boot screen but ending up with a black screen. You then need to soft reset which leaves you at the previous bootloader...
Sucks. And is annoying as all hell. One saving grace is the extra CPU speed makes a big difference, and the extra storage means having to install all the apps that get cooked into the roms is that big a deal as theres plenty of room left over.
That said, i can't even update to that latest radio rom, which is what sucks the most.

Did you try to disassemble a ROM from nbh to nb, and reassemble it with the new offsets we can see in Dopod WM6 ROMs ?
The P3600i has 256MB NAND in oposite of the 128 Mb NAND of the regular P3600.
To flash this device you need bootloader 3.x or higher, and OS rom must be tagged 0x401 in the NBH (not 0x400, which is used for 128Mb NAND), also you should use a new RUU (the on the official WM6 rom should be ok).
Hope it's clear, if not PM me as I'm not following this thread.

Help!! - Can't Upgrade anything on my Diamond

Hello to anyone who can help me...
i am posting this thread after searching this forum for answers to my problem, and i could not find the answers...
I have the Diamond (DIAM100) with Original SPL 1.37.000 and GER Stock Rom installed.
My Upgrade goal is HardSPL 1.38 Signed (Olinex) / DiamondProject V2 GER / radio .05
I try to upgrade SPL, Radio and Rom according to several guides in this forum, but nothing seems to work for me.
I tried using the RUU Program with HardSPL, tried Diamond CustomRUU, tried manual Bootloader access, everytime the Upgrade Software stays at 0% (on the phone also) and after about 5 minutes i get ERROR [262].
Luckily, i haven't bricked my diamond yet, it always came back to life again.
i can confirm, that the device enters bootloader mode, then changes to grey screen with progress bar. But that is all.
Maybe it is a Vista issue, maybe not.
But all i get is ERROR [262]: Update Error
Suggestions, anyone?
Thanks in advance for any serious help...

I will try to get hands on XP computer tonite....
You can always try running the RUU update utility in WinXP32 compat mode.
What Hard SPL ar eyou using???.... usually the problem...
you will need Developer edition if the ROM is not signed.
developer edition worked for me on Vista 32. Thanks guys!
OK
I ran a Hard-SPL (from the dev thread) Diamond-OliNex
This completed and did whatever it did and i had to do the basic setup on the phone again.
I have now got the radio ending .06 from this thread this thread and cant get it to work with the OilNex Hard SPL or the 1.34 listed in that thread.
I'm back to square one where Error 262 Update error is occuring.
I'm tring to flash the radio as the O/S i have appears to be running sweet but its having web issues that appear to be DNS/Connection related.
This needs an idiots guide like the other phones have .... 'coz i'm an idiot and I can't do it.

Yeah, but for me the problem still is to get ANY HardSPL on the Diamond in the first place.
I was trying to put HardSPL 1.38_Signed to the phone...
Adwinp: thanks for the advice, but did not work either...
As far as i can tell, this may be a problem with the USB driver from the Windows mobility center software...
I will try on real XP and give you feedback tomorrow.

I had the exact same problems. I tried every possible combination of Hard SPL and ROMs. Here is what worked for me in the end (no problems since):
1. install newest .Net 3.5 on windows PC (don't know if this has anything to do with my problems but after installing everything started working fine)
2. install Unsigned HardSPL (developer edition): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950
3. install chosen ROM / Radio ROM with RUU (Rom Updater Utility): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396073
After flashing a ROM the device makes a hard reset so you should backup your data first! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705
good luck!
Finally it worked, also thanks to all who replied in this thread.
So i like to share my experience in this:
1. first i downloaded all SPL and Radio i could find, then i looked for GER language Rom. Quickly decided for DPT V2.
2. First attempt to flash failed completely on a Vista PC (32 Bit Ultimate)
3. Back home, moved all the downloaded files to my XP SP2 PC..
4. Noticed: DiamondCustomRUU would not start in XP, got error message saying "... could not be initialized", so i tried the standard RUU instead, with the shortcut of manually putting the PDA into Bootloader mode...
5. Sucessfully flashed HardSPL 1.38 on the Diamond, and the device rebooted with Hard reset.
6. Next i tried to upgrade Radio to .05 Version... Failed, stuck a 0%
7. Changed SPL to 1.40 (Unsigned), now the Radio could be flashed. Seems that Radio Files are Unsigned?
8. Flashed DPT V2. Success.
But still wondered about the unsigned Radio file...
Again, thank you all

Can't flash hardSPL

Hi guys, i've had a sniff around the forums and can't seem to find anyone having the same problem, or at least asking the question.
I'm trying to flash Jockeys 1.24 hardSPL and everytime I attempt it, I get put into the recover from flash routine - ERROR[262]: UPDATE ERROR. Luckily all the times so far its just been a case of battery out and restart and everythings fine.
But i'd really like to flash a cooked rom, so anyone got any ideas what could be wrong?
Currently using the latest orange rom - 1.93.00.00, radio 1.00.25.05
Cheers in advance

I've got .net 3.5 on my pc (i'm a web developer). will the ruu only work with .net 2.0?
ah rite, sorry.
cant answer that question, sorry.
i doesnt work with previous versions, although i cant see why a newer version would make a difference... have you been able to flash any other ROMs/HTCs?
I flashed the genuine orange/htc rom when I first bought it, was on 1.37 i think and now its 1.93.405.1 WWE
So..... hasn't anyone else had this problem?
