Flashing back to WM5 (Waranty) - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

The screen alignment problem comes back this morning to my HTC Tytn.
It hangs on the calibration screen. Nothing helps...scratching...itching etc.
Now i must flash back to WM5 to change the device at Vodafone Germany. Can i make this with the official file from the vodafone germany website?
At this moment on my Tytn is:
The new Shaps WM6 ROM (German, FULL Version from 28.07.2007)
Radio 1.48
Olipro 2.10
Or did i have to work with any ROM Kitchen? I have read the instructions on MrVanx site and other people says that i only have to flash the original Vodafone update file from the website.
sorry for my terrible english...
I hope you understand what i want....

I also have sceen alignment issues using Schaps WWE ROM. I had mine in for service earlier and do not believe it is hardware related this time, as some WM6 roms seem to give me the problem occasionally (I've tried them all..). I have no problems using Jasjammings black roms, so what it may be beats me... Hopefully there will be a fix.
EDIT... I've done a new flash with the latest Schap ROM, I believe it is better than the one I tried before. I tried Sleuth's as well, but it was too giving me alignment issues. The new ROM seems good so far.

I might be wrong but wasn't the screen alignment issue the alignment changing after being set due to problems in hardware with the screen itself?
This sounds like a software fault only that a new ROM would probably fix. (or was the problem that something presses on the screen which stops it calibrating?)
(i never suffered it so havent looked into it)

I had a terrible screen alignment issue on my Wizard. It is a hardware failure.

As for the OP's question on downgrading, check out MRVANX's AWESOME GUIDE.

Many thnks 4 the support!
Many thanks todd_jg! This is what i am searching for. I have found another guide but this was i found where an old version of this.
Many many thanks. I will try this guide on weekend.
BTW: Its my third Tytn from Vodafone, the screen alignment problem is definitly a hardware bug as HTC official related in February this year.

Next problem....damn
Ok. the flashing of the original Vodafone Germany ROM is fullfilled! It works...
BUT:
Now i am sticking in the first calibration screen after the first boot (after flashing)!
Because my Tytn has a calibration problem i am unable to do the first calibration to get in the next step of setting up Win Mobile 6 (time and date i think).
AND:
In the (perfect!!!) guide posted above there is an extra guide to downgrade the spl.
But thru the sticking in the first calibration screen i am unable to downgrade cause the update (downgrade is the better name i think) says not connected to device.
Does anybody have an idea to solve this tricky problem?
BTW: changing the device at vodafone i have to wait 17 work days because they have a little delivery problem. I think they dont have any device thats work probaly.... But I can wait.
I hope you understand what i want...sorry i come from Germany...

Have you tried waiting a while for the calibration screen. Sometimes after a new ROM has loaded, it seems to take a while to get the screen to respond to the calibration.
Also, you should be able to do the SPL downgrade as it is explained in Mrvanx guide, except you can start in bootloader mode, instead of starting with the phone on.
Und, dein Englisch ist echt gut. Ueberhaupt keine Probleme dich zu verstehen

I have waiting a very long time after the first boot. Because i have to think about what i do now.
And i have pressed all buttons on the phone and i have punished it for a while cause i am a little bit angry about this sh!t. Nothing helps.
In bootloader mode the downgrade says that there will be a problem with getting contact with the device.
Was tun sprach Zeus...

If all else fails, you can try to reflash with the SDCard method. No USB connection needed.
The instructions are in here somewhere.

USB methos is going like this:
Format Your card to FAT32. Rename RUU_signed.nbh to HERMIMG.NBH. Copy this to Your card. Put card in to device and softreset holding Power and Ok button.
You should see grey screen witch question. Press Power button and wait untill process ends. When You see Updated Succed, reset with stylus.
Copied this from another thread (just remembered I read this recently)
Olioaglio

I did this like you have said but when i am entering the bootscreen (4 color screen, i see shortly the grey screen (0,1 sec!) and nothing to see except the screen with ipl 1.04 and spl 2.10olipro.
I copied my files to my computer (nothing on the card) and copied the .nbh file from the downgrade to 1.10 olipro (link in the manual from you) without the .exe file on my card. Then i inserted the card and enter the bootloader screen with power button ok button and softreset.
EDIT: After i had formatted my card it works...
BUT after flafshing the 4 colour screen says: Herm200 IPL-1.04 HERM200 SPL-2.10.Olipro
I copied the file RUU_signed.nbh from the folder HERM_SPL1.1ooli_only_customRUU to the card and renamed it into HERMIMG.nbh
The grey screen appears after the softreset...i push the power button...the update was sucessfully...i sofreset...it boots to the calibration screen from WM5...i get into the bootscren with holding OK Power and Softreset and there are : Herm200 IPL-1.04 HERM200 SPL-2.10.Olipro
What happend wrong? Where I am so stupid? God Damnmnmnmnmnmn....

Hey again!
Try this thread. It may help you to.
Essentially, you will do the following:
* Fire up Custom_RUU
* Manually select the correct SPL (Oli 2.1 and HardSPL option)
* Put the phone in bootloader mode
* THEN plug into USB
* Press continue
Oftentimes, this gets past the cannot connect error.

OK...i think you and oliaglio are the right guys to help me!
This method above works!
BUT: After the selfmade softreset from the RUUwrapper.exe WM5 boots normally...then i get into the bootloader4colorsscreen and there it was...
ipl 1.04 and spl 2.10olipro
why? please god...change the spl into 1.10...

OMG - I remember I had that problem once. That was a ***** to solve. In fact, it was so tough that MrVanx made a SPECIAL GUIDE FOR SPL DOWNGRADE. We are lucky for this.
Oh yeah, and the reason that it won't change the SPL is because that is exactly what HardSPL does - it protects the SPL from being overwritten, since THAT is what bricks phones. Trust me, it is for your own good (and mine too - notice my avatar!). Make sure that the SPL downgrade is the last flash operation you perform.

What does your text mean? I dont understand what you have written.
Is it possible for me to downgrade or not? when i use the guide it doesnt work for me. I am a little bit confused....
My school english is so terrible...****.

No more ideas todd and oliaglio?
Please help me...

The downgrade guide hould work if done properly. Use the files in the links in the downgrade guide. It is hard to replace Oli 2.1 - everything will work except that. Just like you described. But this step:
The first step is to dowgrade to SPLversion 1.10.oli. Firstly download this archive and extract the files to a temporary folder, connect your device up via the USB port and allow it to connect to activesync. Run "RUUWrapper.exe" which will fire up the RUU program.

is most important. That will write over Oli 2.1 and get it to Oli 1.1. After that, you can put whatever SPL you want on there. Be sure to use the Oli 1.1 link in the thread.

so actually by following the guide, I can choose SPL 1.11 instead of the listed SPL's 1.04 and 1.06 ?

Is it like, if I install the swedish ship version, the spl will go back to 1.11? And after I have done that, I can install the official norwegian WM6 ROM?

Gday, me BA is dead, failed to upgrade..

I did not get the upgrade out of the PDA first, it is in bootloader mode.
By mistake, I picked up a XDA II upgrade instead of PDA III and clicked the sucker, only to get bummed completely. I guess it "deleted" the orig OS, or parts of it.
The BA is from o2, but private buy, no support expected from them.
The BA was in German, there is no "ID" for o2 given in the ID table.
I even tried T-kom's blackberry upgrade (German) gives same error as the 3 WWE SHIPS I tried, 120 "Country ID error"
Anyway to get the needed ROM info with the bootloader only ?
I would not mind the BA_5.1.1700_build_14343_Upgrade Engrish...
Somebody please help bring my new thang into life again
Hi Man,
Do not worry...Just upgrade the ext rom part of any ROM u have and it will be live again...then u can re-upgrade it completely
One problem I recognize I have: how to get DevData...
Thanks for the assuring words. But I have no idea what you mean with :"upgrade the ext rom part of any ROM u have and it will be live again."
I Assume the ext rom is a nbf file ?
I tried several of the ROM linked from this site (without modifiying them) no succes.
The nice guide made, explains how to get devdata on the PDA when working, but how to get that when bootloader mode is only option ? Or is that necessary? Are there ROM's that works anyway ??
The guide says:
"Device data reads:
PH20B 0 B GER R T-MOB101 1.12.00 0 0 1.12.100 1.02.00 02.00"
I do not have any of this info on my PDA Can it be retreived from the PC ?? (with a program)
I might also explain why I wanted to upgrade the ROM and didnt realize how "complicated" it can be. When trying to install a new appl. (Copilot) with a SD-card, the BA gave:
"setup-Fehler
Die datei "\storagecard\\2577\tts.cab ist keine gultige datei fur windows CE setup"
So, I thought the ROM version was ****ty not even knowing CAB files!
Any hints & help much appreciated
Rgds
Okeh..
Learned alot during the day on this site, it RAWKS!
I found the BA_TMUK_14200_112_11300_Ship (ENG)
& the MDAIII_TMDE_14201_116_11300_Ship (GER)
Using the "MaUpgradeUt_noID" I managed to get the GER running
Dropped the RADIO ROM of the GER to the ENG version and tried runnin the MaUpgradeUt_noID from that ROM. It worked!
The "standard" windows theme is NOT in the ENG pack, but in the GER one.
I then try run these Copilot cab files, still no luck ?!?
Tried some other CAB files snagged from the FTP, they worked...
I both tried the SD card install (autorun the cab) and from the install CD (to PC & device) both gives same error ? A little suspicious that none of the 2 install options work. Perhaps copilot is NOT compatible...

Help: Error o2 ROM Upgrade to 1.60.52 GER with own ExtROM

I have a O2 XDA mini S, using O2-de Germanyconnection, It doesent show home zone.
So I read in this form about upgrading
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic?t=7196#33907
and downloaded the file and installed while I started to Install, in one step it said it will take few mins to erase data and the processes will take a few mins. But it the same time my phone showed a error message
Code:

and the installation also stoped!
Can any one help me to upgrade it!

HELP! Can't restore original spl 1.93 from olinex1.40

Hi there, I'm Italian I'm here because your'e the only one on this planet who can help me.....so sorry for my english.....
I had some trouble with my diamond, the touch screen is no longer working so I have to send it back to htc, now I have to restore original rom and spl.....
I installed olinex 1.40 and the last original italian rom 2.03....
Now I downloaded my former rom (1.93.772) from italian server, I installed it and everything seemed to be right, (I can't check it because the diamond blocks me at the aligning screen, the touch screen is broken and I can't start the phone...the aligning screen appears to me forever and there's no way to bypass it)...
Then I downloaded the original spl 1.93 from your server...I cant use active sync because I can't start the phone so I have to work in boot mode.....I followed carefully the procedure, that is quite easy, but there is no way to remove the olinex 1.40, the process starts, it reachs 100%, but when i check the spl is always the 1.40 olinex....and restore original spl...I try also the usb trigger mode, with the spl putted as dimndimg.nbh...
Please help me!!!!!!!!! I' going crazy!!!!!
Thank you very much for the attention...

do you hear me?
hi
hi, did you check out this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2324837&postcount=20 see if that helps you.
I read everithing and now I'm a sort of diamond technician, but I cannot solve this problem, I can only flash in bootloader mode cause the telephone cant initialize windows, it' blocks in the aligniment screen and can't go on, so maybe the bootloader mode isn't strong enough to by pass the write protection of the 1.40 olinex and overwrite the hardspl...HELP HELP HELP
I'got the same issue, you have to install a rom !! and use ActiveSync in order to get the SPL1.93 ! I think in bootloader mode, you can't change the SPL!
Good luck
Freaky, I have the same issue it will not remove no matter what.
HTC have sent mine back, they say the HardSPL 1.40 OliNex damages the mainboard and causes touch screen failure! They want £230 for a new one
If you find out how to remove let me know, I've flashed all sorts and no luck it still says it.
Andrew
PS) I have activesync working with a failed touch screen (stuck on the align screen window), copying and running stock 193 in /internal doesn't change it. When I try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...7&postcount=20
it sits at 0% then fails. The other program they mention to force it uinto bootloader I can' run obviously because the touch screen is broke.

Copy means either to right click and select copy to then past it to the root of the diamond directory or you can choose to drag this file to the diamond directory. Then continue to copy the other files.
Another way is to just start with the Diamond-SSPL.exe file and it will tell u to copy these files one by one. Make sure that you are activesynced prior to started this.
What I mean is WHAT IS sspl.exe
It's not in your magic zip file.
And when I find it, how can (I / We) execute it with failed touchscreens?
Still getting ...

I'm having the same problem tryng this stuff...does't work at all....I sent 2 private message to olipro but no response....Is there someone out there who can hepl me??????
is there any absurd rom using just the button of the pda excluding the touch screen??????
You must flash in bootloader mode and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe in "C:\ROM" with file "RUU_Signed.nbh" 1.93 version in his directory (C:\ROM).
Use Windows XP and cable miniUSB original and Activesync of course.
1)Use Activesync conected.
2)Copy ROMUpdateUtility.exe and RUU_Signed.nbh (HardSPL 1.93)
3)Enter in bootloader mode
4)From "C:\ROM" run ROMUpdateUtility.exe
Leoarg....I can't activesync the diamond in bootloader mode....I can activesync only if I start the diamond in normal mode....when it reaches the aligniment screen it stops and sinconize

I won't turn on nor even load the bootloader.
What can i try to reanimate it? Maybe hardware error, like a broken fuse?
Battery is in perfect working order, i tried 3 different ones with a spare o2 xda orbit.
Many thanks in advance

Resetting Your Pocket PC Phone
Occasionally, you may need to reset your device. A normal (or soft) reset of your device clears all active program memory and shuts down all active programs. This can be useful when your device is running slower than normal, or a program is not performing properly. A soft reset is also necessary after the installation of some programs. If a soft reset is performed when programs are running, unsaved work will be lost.
You can also perform a hard reset (also known as a full reset). A hard reset should be performed only if a normal reset does not solve a system problem. After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default settings — the way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your device will be lost. Only Windows Mobile software and other pre-installed programs will remain.
To perform a soft reset
• Use the stylus to press the RESET button found on the lower left side of your device. Your device restarts and displays the Today screen. To perform a hard reset
1. Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and the Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the lower left side of your device.
2. Release the stylus, but continue pressing the two soft key buttons. Release them only when you see the following message on your device screen: “Press Send to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.“
3. Press on your device. Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed.
Thanks for your advice, but the device doesn't reset.
No soft- or hardreset. it's just dead except for a red glowing led, as quoted in the first post.
I need further assistance, no hint on doing a soft or hardreset

Hi,
have you tried booting without battery ? Have you removed additional cards like SIM or Storage card ? Then try to start or enter bootloader. The contacts (pins) touching the battery are clear without any mess or rust ?
...
you must buy a "brand new" battery (not a spare).
1) put the new battery in your device
*do not turn it on.
2) charge the device untill green led

if you still have the constant red led when charging the brand new battery.
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
i will not, under any circumstances, be to blame if you break your device doing this so be warned!:
3) in my experience the pins on the device mini usb were not connecting properly to the mini usb lead (to the pc usb cable).
* the best way to "quickfix" this is to open the device and bend them back into place (inwards) - be carefull because these can break easily.
(not easy to fix when broken)
* you wont need to bend the pins much.
* unplug your mini usb and check that the pc mini usb cable goes into the device mini usb before putting the device back together.
(so you know you have not bent them too much)
*i think you will need to do step 3.
*be carefull

Hallo,

[Q] haret.exe stopped working (htc touch pro2)

Hello all,
First off, i tried to access the FAQ questions posted in Froyo build thread but that keeps coming back with either an 500 internal error or 400 error and google + search here did not yield me that much information (either that or i am completly blind at this hour of day)
I had followed the instructions to install the Froyo bundle on my HTC touch Pro 2 and it worked for about an hour, then i suddenly heard my phone reboot and when it came back up i tried to start haret again but was met with this error:
"The file 'HARET' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file."
Now i tried to format my SD card and put the whole bundle on there again but that was a no go.
As for some silly reason Activesync does not work correctly in combination with my laptop (vista x64 if it matters) i could also not edit the registry as was suggested in another thread. Because of this a ROM update on my phone seems out of the question too (it keeps saying there is no connection with the phone to be found.. -_-)
I am pretty much at a loss of what i could try right now and was hoping that anyone has an idea what i could try next?
Thank you in advance
