Does anyone what happened to LVSW and why he's not cooking any more ROMs.
Just wondering what's going on with him because I tried many ROMs and his roms are the best in terms of stability and speed etc.
Thanks in advance.
I also liked his ROM's. I also don't know where he has gone.....
But for a good ROM there are new coockies who are building nice ROM's for all of us!
Look around and you'll find them!

Yep, probably Schap's is the most reliable and fastest ROM at this moment. BUT there are more flavours and you have to decide yourself which one is the best for you're own use!
Good Luck
LVSW I think got into an argument with someone here so he went to a diff forum but he still posted one link when he did release something new. But I think the reason no new ROM is that he got a new device a TOUCH or something so he doesnt care about the Hermes anymore.

I will give schaps a shot... because right now, I have the official HTC TyTN WM6 ROM.
Thanks again
HY Guys.I HAVED ASKED THE:
hi.First of all sorry for my bad english since I
am an spanish user.My problem is that I do not understand why HTC wont release a wm6 for the P3600 since this device doesen? work verry well whit the actual released version of wm5.For all the oder new version of pda? HTC
have relesed an wm6 but not for P3600.I am a little mad sice this device
is not verry cheap you know and I can not enjoy of wm6.Thank you
WELL THEY ANSWER ME:
Hello Sir,
I understand, but apparently their decision has been taken, they
confirmed it to us (at the support centre) last week.
I'm forwarding your request and disappointment now.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please
do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEEN NO OFFICIAL WM6 FOR THE P3600?
Would be kinda weird. I have a Herald, and that's a phone with a bit lesser functionality, apart from the hardware keyboard. The P3600 deserves a WM6 update just as much as the other current-generation HTC phones.
YEP
Yes This Is What I Have Told Them And They Answer Me That Thig.so It Seems That Will Have To Use This Great Versions Of Wm6 That We Have Here In Xda Developars
I´m sure HTC complains about this website, but thank to our rom cooks my wifi works because with their flipping wm5 it never did and their support didn´t know what to do.
To tell you the truth...who cares if they don´t release a wm6 version, because if they do it,the new release would like the ones released by Dopod, same green and ****ty dialpad, windows messenger and apps that most of us can careless.
Well dta1974 you are write ho needs their wm6 rom when here we have the best for the Trinity.

..agree may be I will use a cooked rom, but it could be interesting to know how they will make tomtom installable on wm6.

TomTom is installable on WM6 and Traffic info works with for example .mUn. 2.1 TE (which is also WM6).
Since DOPOD is releasing the official ROMs it became a mess for TomTom. First with the .17 version (and cooked ROMs based on that version like
INDIGO Lite) which changed the DEVICE ID and now with the .18 version it doesn't work at all.
It's TomTom which doesn't support WM6 (yet), WM6 from HTC doesn't make a difference.
Although I agree with the general population of pissed off HTC customers, I can't say I share the same opinion about cooked ROMs. Most cooked ROMs won't be as stable as an official ROM -- with horror stories about users having to follow procedures to avoid battery life, wifi, gps and other problems.
I do admit HTC ROMs will probably include software which most of us don't need but if I ever install a cooked WM6 ROM, it'll be only if it's a cab-cut-down version based on an official Trinity WM6 ROM.
What's worse is if this injustice weren't enough, they go ahead and release a WM6 version of the P3600 with slightly better specs. Sales seem to be more important than keeping a happy customer base.
there is also the warranty problem.
if i install the cooked ROM and i have any problem with my device and i mean any -even a hardware one like non working speaker- im sure that the HTC service center will make my life hard...

I have found that to be true. The Official Dopod ROM is more stable than the cooked ROM's I've tried.
most of cooked rom are based from the original dopod... so all of them are good... HTC maybe will not release an official upgrade but their ROM will not better of official Dopod... and it's always possible to put back the orginal wm5 if you have to send device to repair... so yeah it's a pity HTC will not release an official update but cooked ROM has nothing less.

Despite being based on official ROMs, it's possible a little too much is changed each time causing instability. I mean, let's face it -- one or two enthusiast developers cooking a ROM vs an entire team of developers at HTC. I'm pretty sure their collective knowledge ensures greater ROM stability.
As simonte mentioned, should any cooked ROM cause the device any permanent hardware failure, getting the phone repaired by HTC will be a *****.
There have been times I've been tempted to give in and go for cooked but I just plain don't wanna install Olipoop's HardSPL.

Sorry I guess I don´t get it,what do you mean by that.Sorry.
Battery drain with the cooked roms?I don´t know what to say because with the rom by HTC wm5,once I turn on the GPS...man my battery starts dieing, regarless of the rom and version and a few calls later and goes from a 100% to 80% really fast.
So I got to a point that If I have this xda I don´t even think about battery drain or memory leakage,it´s just a phone (I know it´s more than that and expensive)but that how I see it.
Bye and enjoy the roms ;-)

Battery shouldn't be dying that fast. I'm using the ANZ HTC WM6 rom and have no problems. With TomTom running and RF circuits on (With a few short calls) I still get about 6 hours of battery. WiFi seems to cause huge battery drainage though, rarely get more than 3 hours with it turned on. AX3L's rom since 2.0.8.2 seem to have best battery life though when using Wifi, just depends on what you want most.
Hi all, hi Schap
anyone knows if a new WWE version will be released soon by Schap? We are stucked with the 3.60a..

Hi guys, sorry if I didn't give any news those last days, but I have personal problems and no time to care of ROMs. But I'm not giving up, I just need a break, then I hope to come back soon with new ROMs!
I saw that many new cooked ROMs were released during my absence and some based on my work, which is a good thing and I don't think I'm really needed at this time. Even if I didn't encounter major issues, from what I hear the new build seems to bring nothing good but only problems, so I don't know if I will continue on this way...

At the middle of October
And if that means that HTC are taking the time and effort to build SDHC capability into the ROM, I'm happy to wait....
(And I still believe in Santa Claus too......)
Well.... their DOPOD WM6 ROM has been on official release in Asia since July, so there most be something special coming in the European P3300 ROM over and above the Asian WM6 ROM to make it take three months longer....
I can but hope....

Now that we have at least three cookers (Fracoon, Meschle and Tom Codon, in alphabetical order) who have proven that they can build excellent ROM's, I really don't see any advantage in waiting for an official HTC ROM. I'm sure you will be disappointed.

These guys you mentioned are sure good cookers, but what about a really simple ROM without "useless" stuff into it? Just the original WM6 softwares + drivers. (and in our own languages)

I agree...even I would'nt mind a ROM without the HTC Home, TouchFlo but as stable as the ones provided by the guru's here !
But thats too much to wish for....
It probably also wouldn't invalidate my warranty if i took an official upgrade..
HTC are waiting for meschle to fix SDHC so that they can then include it in there rom!

Yes, you have a point there. Personally, I did not mind loosing the warrenty, but that may be different for others. I used the phone for about 6 months before flashing, to make sure that it was working perfectly though.

My device was replaced already... so I'm more cautious. I always flash my DVD player ROM with newest version but Artemis is a little too expansive for me to experiment. Besides, if you have unofficial ROM it's harder to diagnose source of problems and to gain HTC support help. On the other side HTC support is so poor that it may be not worth of consideration.
So I'm happy that people have possibility to try our cookers ROMs, but I will wait for HTC (about 2 weeks I hope).

thanks for all

Hi guys im currently using the Athena @ the moment and no much choice in ROMS ive just upgraded the contract for my misses and got a o2 xda orbit will be running with Vodaphone Sim and a 1GB mico SD its a great phone and theres an amazing amount of ROMS on here she isnt as technically minded as me and i want a Rom thats Cool, functional and with a simple interface she's by no means stupid as uses mine every now and then but dont want a Rom thats buggy etc Any one advise a good simple stable Rom to use I Know its a personal choice but i would appreciate some advice... Thanks Guys
It's all a matter of preference as they are all good, except the official O2 ROM. Meschle's look the nicest and have some really good toys especially his new Vanilla (with cherry) release, but I personally prefer Tom Codon's Black and Blue series.
I'd would wait for his 4.2 release, but if you can't wait, then 4.0 is great. I tried 4.1, but the infamous 'storage card' bug did put me off a little. I try most of the ROM's, but I am getting counseling for this addiction.
thank you for the advice the touch and black and blue roms took my fancy so will probably try one of these... Thanks again

Mate having gone through pages on pages I can only see cherry referred to in POLL but it is closed, Please help
am I blind
or just mad
In this case 'cherry' means that Meschle took the original WM6 OEM rom, made by Microsoft and --instead of adding a lot of fancy and sophisticated progs-- just added the fresh versions of some really useful utilities (as he put it in the first post of the related thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332531 See the bullet points!)
So, it's a quite simple rom, but enhanced with his cherry picking amongst the wide variety of apps that make the usage of our Artemis easier and more effective.
At least I see this way... (I'm far from being an expert).
The official HTC Europe WM6 rom has just been released (see a lot of fresh thread abuot it).
So, if you are cautious (I am), I suggest you to flash your Orbit with this rom. It must be stable and more or less bug-free (but certainly there is no guarantee...)
And later you can switch to a cooked one, if you wish so.
But be aware: first you should run USPL! See thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403
