What is this? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Im a new comer. The 1st time I upgrade my XDA exec but not successfully. I couldn't remmember which ROM i used but it suddenly cancelled when it was running (nearly 90%), I pulled out the cable when it hadn't finished yet. Now, my Exec doesn't work, I can't see blinking orange or green light, only red light appears when I plug in the cable.
I don't know which errors I met and don't know how to resolve this, I need your help, please!

RTFW and reflash using bootloader.

hic hic
I'm still elementary, i cannot totaly understand those words, could them be more clearly?

1st: Download a working ROM like this: Helmi 3.5 v 1.3.1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3S300TQ8
Everything is already in there with the exception of the RADIO ROM (radio_.nbf) and the EXTENDED ROM (ms_.nbf). These you can leave alone, in your case your device will use the old existing one. If you want to upgrade to the latest RADIO ROM. Look for Radio 1.18.00 and copy radio_.nbf and add that file to the folder you already have.
2nd: After extracting the files and placing them on one folder. Place your device on boot loader mode by PRESSING THESE SIMULTANEOUSLY:
POWER BUTTON
RESET PIN HOLE
BACKLIGHT BUTTON
3rd: Connect your Universal via USB cable.
4th: Double tap Ma Upgrade NO ID file to run it. Just follow the screen commands.

It might appear that way.
If you check the screen in boot loader mode under a good light. You will notice the screen has version numbers on it. That is normal. The backlight screen DOES NOT turn on when in boot loader mode. So check it under a nice lighted area.

If you are still unable to enter bootloader, remove the battery, wait 10 seconds, re-insert the battery, the hold the backlight whilst pressing the power button. This should get you back into bootloader mode, there is no back lit screen when in bootloader, but if you look carefully you will serial or usb on the screen.
Now re-flash a decent Rom.
Cheers,
Beast
ps, never remove the cable untill the flash utility tells you to!

So I assume you can go into boot loader mode now...
On your computer, use the built-in file manager to kill these 3 applications prior to attaching your Universal in boot loader mode via USB:
1: rapimgr.exe
2: wcescomm.exe
3: WCESMgr.exe
Good luck...

When it says nothing at all!!!
Hic, I'll kill this EXEC!

I've sent it to many machinists, all of them have no ability to resolve such problem. I put my EXEC on a bed and take them to jungle, waiting for a prince to rescue.
My EXEC still deeply sleeping....

Upgrade ROM code error

I have flashed many Custome ROM's before. I have HardSPL installed on my phone.
I tried flashing to a ROM (I forget which one now, I think Cloudfa or something) and it stopped at about 15%. The Update utility stopped as well.
I cannot connect to bootloader at all. I tried holding down on Volume down/Reset to enter bootloader, but the thing is that it's already in bootloader with the message "Upgrade ROM code error, Please try again"
ActiveSync doesn't see my phone either. In fact all it does is just sit on the bootloader screen with that error...
Please Help... Thanks You...
A normal soft reset still brings you back to Bootloader?
What happens when you plug in your device? Does it not change from serial to USB at the bottom?

Sorry. Yes it does show USB when plugged in, but won't respond to anything that I have tried software wise. It does not switch from this bootloader/error screen at any point. Even after I pull my battery and turn it back on...
I have yet to come across a thread which has this exact problem...

Have you tried flashing a different ROM while in bootloader?
^^ Yes. It give me an error on my computer...
I would like to try the internal flashing method but I don't seem to have a way of getting at my Storage Card.
I found this thread with a similar problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480022
I WAS just able to get off of that screen I was talking about, but the best I get is to the Touch Diamond Screen that lists my ROM and such. So no real progress.
I have a feeling that I would resolve my problem if I could Flash from the Interanl Storage...
Have you tried hard resetting the device?
Pull out stylus and Holding....1) Vol. Down 2) Center Round button 3) then press red button aka soft reset with stylus
Nothing...

[Q] bricked tilt 2

help please!
i preformed task 29 on my tilt 2 and i now have an ATT screen and wont go any further. when i try to stat it it only goes as far as the first screen and no further. i tried resting it to no avail. i can not establish connection with pc. i have vista for pc. can somebody help please?
Yes. now u preformed that, you want to plug in your USB. Push reset and the lower volum button at the same time. You will go into boot loader mode. It should say USB on the bottom once u have made a connection after connecting your USB to the computer. At that point flash your Radio, after flashing your radio, flash your rom. All like you normaly would ..
PS. make sure Sim and MScard is out of phone before preforming Flashing Radio, then the rom. Then replace the sim card after all the installation from the rom you are installing..
First go back to the task 29 post and read all the instructions.
Task 29 is a memory wiper,it completely wipes the memory of the device leaving only the radio and basic functions.
To get up and running again follow these instructions:
1. Download the newest stock rom for ATT found in the Rom Development forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737168
2. Remove back cover from the device, remove the battery, remove the SIM card and remove the SD card if you have one. Reinstall the battery, do not replace the back cover.
3. Power up the device and connect it to the PC. Press the down volume button and press and hold the stylus into the reset button, hold both until the boot screen appears. Windows may install some software at this time, let the software install.
4. When USB appears at the bottom of the boot screen run the ROM installer software run. Follow ALL on screen instructions.
NOTE: If you have Hard SPL installed you can install any custom ROM, if not you MUST install a STOCK SHIPPED ROM.

First of all check to see if your phone is hardspl'ed by turning phone completely off then hold volume down key then power phone back on from here you should be on tri-color screen see what the spl version says if it says 0.85Olinex it's hardspl'ed anything else is not hardspl'ed.
If your phone is hardspl'ed then your good all task29 does is wipe your entire os off your phone thats why it won't boot to nothing but the startup screen so in order for it to boot you need to flash a rom on to it, so like before power phone off hold volume down key & power phone on you should be on tri-color screen again at the bottom of phone screen it should say serial now plug in usb from computer now it should say usb at the bottom of phone find a rom that you like then flash it phone should reboot after flash & work like normal once again.
Hope this helps
thank you all you guys. you all were awesome. as you could imagine, i am new to wm. but with the help of every body, i got my phone up and running.

[Q] Bootloader nightmare

I have a nordic HTC Touch Pro 2
This unit started acting up after I installed the Energy ROM from the 20th of December. It used to fail in booting occationally(fixed by attaching USB-power), but now it is thouroughly stuck in the bootloader.
This is what I see when I reboot:
RHOD100 32M SS-BC
SPL-0.85.OliNex
MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MicroLED(KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
509,521 792,844
795,200 221,198
226,843 Calibrated
Serial (changes to USB when connected)
There is a quick flash of 2 previous screens, one tri-color and one saying something about no image to load.
I belive, but would be thrilled to be proven wrong, that I have tried all tricks.
Running Windows 7 I first disabled device driver signing and loaded the HTC USB driver. Downloaded mtty 1.42, connected to the phone via USB and ran "boot" command.
The only problem listed was one bad block in CE.
Tried reboot again with same error.
"info 8" revealed that the bad block is 370.
Ran "task 29" but it gave an error trying to delete block 370.
Rebooted and tried to flash latest 29007 Energy ROM. No errors reported during the flash, still when it rebooted after reaching 100% it stopped in bootloader again.
I have also tried this procedure and replaced the Energy ROM with the latest original nordic ROM. When I use "boot" command from mtty I get the HTC screen (white background with htc in green letters) but the phone apparantly is stuck there. A soft restart brings me bach to the bootloader again.
Is my phone bricked? I'm not sure what to do or try next and as I have seen others report my battery is draining and will not charge(no light) when plugged in to computer or charger.
Thanks in advance, I love what you all do for this community and wouldn't have still used tha TP2 if it wasn't for all the great ROMs presented here!
NVM, re-read and see you already tried my suggestion.
Additional info
I ahould add that I also can't do a hard reset. Pressing and holding send and end and then power button only result in getting the bootloader menu. I borrowed a freshly charged battery and tried loading a new ROM, but no change, it still only restarts to the bootloader after completion.
If you can get into bootloader and the usb shows when plugged in, you should be able to flash back to stock via RUU.
Try this;
Open your downloaded ROM with unzipper. You should see two files, the RUU and the RHODIMG.nbh. Copy the .nbh onto the root of your SD card. Powerup the device holding the volume down. It should boot to bootloader and immediatly look for and find the .nhb and install it.
Hope that helps.
Hi!
Thanks for your answers! Sorry about the late reply!
I tested with RHODIMG.nbh file(29007 Energy) on the SD-card. The installation started and ran as expected. When done the screen showed the following info:
"RHODIMG.nbh - OK
OS - OK
Update Complete
UPDATE SUCCESS"
There were no button to press on the screen, and pressing the power-button didn't do anything. I eventually removed the battery, reinstalled the battery and pressed the power button. Unfortunately for me I was once again presented with the bootloader screen.
Any ideas to a new approach? I really don't want to write off the phone as bricked, it should have about a year left in it before I consider replacing it.
Try this:
When powered off, attach headset to the phone. Then press power button.
My Touch Pro2 ran into the same situation recently, showing nothing but a 3-color screen with the same information as you listed. I haven't tried mtty but I found if I plug in the headset, it boots normally. No idea why...
It sounds like an error in the instruction set for the bootloader. Maybe cmonex can help you with a bootloader-friendly version of Hard SPL to re-flash.

he already has Hard-SPL so he could just reflash it with the Hard-SPL exe in manual mode, but as the version number is the same, the device may skip the updating of the SPL. if the OP wants to try this, I can make one with a different version number. though I seriously doubt that the issue would be fixed that way...
Headset trick
Hi,
Again, thanks to all that try to help me!
I tried the headset trick just now and look and behold, it actually worked! My limited brain can't come up with any plausible explenation but I'm happy anyway
I do remember reading about this trick at some point, but I couldn't locate a headset until today. Thanks lilei105!
Now I will reboot the unit several times to ensure this wasn't just a coincident.
Edit: Booted 4 times, still no problem. Have booted both with and without USB-cable connected to PC.
Yeah my advice would be re-flash it or install/download a different ROM.
i may be way off here, but could it be a problem with the volume down button on the unit? maybe the headset bypasses the standard volume button?

Bricked. Only white LED. Battery Good.

Pretty sure I bricked my phone. Been digging through the forums all night and can't find anything.
When I plug it into USB I can get the White LED indicator. Only sign of life tho.
Can't boot the phone at all though. Always just a black screen; no backlight.
No motorola logo..
RSDLite won't recognize because I can't get into bootloader mode.
Battery is fine, checked it with a multimeter and I'm at 3.3V
Tried a friend's Defy battery.. no dice.
Any suggestions?
does your friend battery have a full charge on it?
it happens to me before, i turn the defy off, plug the charger, and left it for 30 to 45 minutes and i can boot afterwards. try it, might work for you too.
thanks been trying that out. his has full charge. I also mcgyvered mine and it's fully charged as well.. hmmm
what did you do that caused the bricked phone? did you try to downgrade it from 2.2 to 2.1? because that caused me the same thing, white led, rsd wont recognize it (windows error sound when plugged into usb), and i couldnt solve it, had to bring it back to motorola...
sent from my cm7 defy...
i have read somewhere in the devs forum about a corrupt bootloader experienced by one of our friend there. try to look into that and possibly get you some clues. Another possibility is to remove your sdcard, my crappy class 6 gives me a white lights only boot when im still in froyo, although it happens only once or twice. at this point, might as well try it out eh?
you need to flash with rsd it will read the phone is stuck in bootloader mode download your stock sbf and flash with rsd it will bring your phone back to life!!
make sure you remove battery plug in usb cable then replace battery while holding the vol + key

I actually purchased it from someone who said that it was bricked. I am trying to get back in touch with them to find out what happened but no info yet. I've been trying to deduce what could of happened. But one thing I'm almost certain of is it wasn't water damaged. As I said the battery is still intact and I've never seen a phone go without taking the battery with it. Moisture indicators look fine as well.
I don't get any sounds when plugging the phone into USB. Device manager doesn't even blink. Can you return to Motorola if you are off contract? Any info on how that works? Not giving up yet, just wondering.

Thanks, I will definitely look into that corrupt bootloader situation. I pulled the sd card (been in there the whole time) but it didn't make a difference. There wasn't really much on the SD Card except for a few empty (autopopulated) directories: LOST.DIR, .android_secure, etc.. and the stock froyo SBF file for the phone: p3_jordan_umts_2.2.1..(blahblah).sbf it's a US T-Mobile Defy.
So it likes like maybe the previous owner was trying to flash. Although I don't know why they would put SBF on the SD.

RSD doesn't ever see the phone at all. Thanks for the suggestion. Tried to insert battery after plugged in and while holding vol + key but no difference. Been trying all sorts of key combinations from the forums but no luck there either. The drivers are completely up to date.
All suggestions appreciated! Thanks guys!
any more ideas by chance ?
It's a silly thing, but have you tried pressing the power button AFTER connected USB? Anyway try switching Config-->DeviceID options in RDS.
I was stuck at your point, only white led, hacked the battery and it has been recognised by RDS after some unistall/reinstall... try, try and try again
This happend to me too (black screen, only white led) when i tried to flash some korean froyo. I just removed the battery, connected usb, put battery back, power + vol [+] and RSD recognised it (even if screen was black)
I confirm (I had the same problem...) that your Defy is not bricked :
- don't connect the phone to the PC
- launch RSDLite and choose your SBF
- remove the battery cover (of your phone of course, not your PC ! )
- remove the battery
- plug the USB cable only in the phone
- your phone in left hand, press power + vol.up with 2 fingers of the same left hand
- put the battery into the phone with your free hand, so the right !
- when the white led appears, you can remove your 2 fingers from buttons
- then plug the USB cable in the PC
- RSDLite recognize your Defy !!!
- you can flash...
Sorry for my bad english !
If all above suggestions still fail on you. I would think it might possibly the USB port is broken or some hardware issue which is why it was sold to you as bricked Defy in the first place.

[Q] HTC Desire Charge OK but does not boot at all

Hi All
First thanks for a very good and informative forum.
======================
This was my first post/question and was placed in wrong section. Now it replaced. - Sorry for that!
======================
Information:
HTC Desire
rooted
S-OFF
EXT4 recovery
rom: runnymix...
sd-card partioned(by EXT4 recovery)
AMOLED
Motherboard and ribboncable was changed one month ago on warranty.
Symtpoms:
- Charges normally: orange charging/green full charge. Flashing orange/green without battery
- Cant NOT boot at all
- cant get into bootloader vol down + pwr
- can not be detected buy PC
- Battery inserted and charging: When pressing power to turn on => charge light goes off - and nothing happens. Leaving it in this condition for a while: the phone(mainboard) gets warm.
The phone was functioning perfectly before my son installed bootmanager app. He uninstalled the bootmanager app again without making any changes to the phone. It took long time (like freezing), so he did pull the battery out!!
Any help? Tried a lot of searches, none of them was as my problem.
Thank you
Hi! Have you tried to leave the phone without the battery for 1-2 minutes and tried a reboot?
Take the battery out, unplug it, hold power for 30 secs to get any remaining juice out.
Leave the phone for 24 hours (with battery out etc.)
Stick the battery back in, try again.

What would be the cause for such a behaviour? I'm a little curious (and relatively new to the android scene)!

Really no idea, and what I told you to do is not guarantee'd to work, it may help though.
And thanks, it sure has cut down repeat posts about repeat problems by about 90% here.
Thank you all for your replies.
I did leave the phone without battery for several days - same problem.
But I did not try to press the pwr for 30 secs without battery. I will try when I get home.
I tried following:
- take battery out and reset it. then hold vol dwn + pwr -> Nothing
- take battery out and reset it. then hold back + pwr -> Nothing
By the way, if I press pwr to turn phone on, it does not come up, but leaving it for a while it gets warmer.
It looks like the CPU is trapped in a loop and running at full speed!
Could a riff box repair it?
do a battery pull then hold back & power. That usually boots into fastboot mode, see if the phone is recognised with
Code:
fastboot devices
if it is run the 2.3 RUU.
Dear bortak
I have tried. It does not enter fastboot.
command "fastboot devices" returns blank.
command "adb devices" returns empty list
command "adb reboot-bootloader" givers "device not found error"
RUU gives usb error.
have you installed the proper drivers on your pc for it to connect with the phone?
If so, when you attempt boot into fastboot and connect your phone through USB do you get the "device connected to windows" sound, like when plugging in and external driver or usb?
Because if not even that sound gets played it most likely means that your phone isn't even able to get into fastboot or hboot...
windows does NOT play any "device connected to windows" sound at all.
I have all drivers installed correct on my windows 7. My other HTC devices (desire s, wildfire, wildfire s) connects correctly to the PC and I can get the serial numbers of them using "fastboot devices" command.
Now on work, I tried a windows XP - same problem no connection - no sound.
This desire does NOT get into hboot nor fastboot. I think taht the "bootsector" is correpted.
I even used a Goldcard (made thru wildfire) - not working either.
So fixing it thru USB the normal way is not working.
Is there any way to force the device to boot up from SD card??
I have several backups of the phone system on my 8GB SD card.
You have to find a way to re-flash the hboot. That causes the blank screen display. May be a bad hboot install or something :0 Unless you have S-off and can be detected in fastboot, you can reflash hboot, otherwise you will have to try the blind flash method using PB.IMG. Best I could think of.
Sent from my PB99400 using XDA
@Jonicraw, thank you for your suggestion.
Where to get the HBOOT PBxxxx.IMG for this desire?
And how to flash it blindly, since I have black screen and no connection to PC.

Same s**t for me ... I tried everything you try and no results !
Come on experts ... somebody must have knowledge to fix this common problem.
What about an "Unbrick Jig" like the one for samsulng galaxy:
MICRO USB JIG DOWNLOAD MODE DONGLE FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S2/I9100/I9000
This device may force the cpu to boot from usb, getting it in "boot flashing" condition.

No such things exists for the Desire.
Tell me what state the phone is currently in now?
Yet no solution for this problem...
STATUS for my device is:
Problem solved by changing the motherboard.
I hoped we could find a good solution for this.
I have the same problem but my phone is already on it's 3rd motherboard. I suspect the battery might be the problem but cannot get any answer as to what the voltages should be. I have already submitted a post headed Battery Voltage but it hasn't attracted a reply.
Hi there,
I got the same problem.
Can I send the phone to HTC even if I have rooted it? I also opened it a few weeks ago to replace the broken touchscreen. Do I still have warranty?
Greetings
