Can you flash these roms to a Sprint MOGUL? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I noticed most of these roms are being flashed to hermes that use use SIM cards. I was wondering if these roms are good to go for cdma devices. Specifically Schap's version
Thanks

do it at your own risk, the risk of bricking your phone.

If you do try, dont do a rom with a radio rom attached to it because the mogul has a different radio.

i wouldnt recommend it...

Ditto.
Flashing even OS's designed for different devices is definitely a risky procedure
although, if it does work, than that opens up everyone with that phone to these Hermes ROMs....
but i wouldnt recommend being the one to try it...leave that to the person who just thinks itll work because their phone looks sortakinda like the Hermes haha

absolutely NOT.
The Mogul is based on an entirely different chip set... that phone is for CDMA networks, and while the specs are similar to the Hermes, it is a very different device.
You're going to have to use one from the Titan forum for the Mogul. Not here.

The user name pretty much covers it for me.

AT&T shipped me a new 8525 w/ WM6

Here's something interesting that just happened to me today.
Brief story:
Last week I purchased a TyTn from a user here and when I got it, it had the screen alignment issue. Rather than fiddling with it, I just sold it as such.
So, I got a fairly good deal on a new 8525 from directly from AT&T. I just got it, powered it on and saw... WM6! Let me repeat, this was a direct purchase from AT&T. The version of WM6 on it is the same build found here, 17944.0.3.1. The radio on it is 1.48.00.00.
So, although the software on it is nothing new, I thought it would be something interesting to note that AT&T is shipping WM6 with their 8525s now... I guess.
I wonder when they're going to be posting the rom on the HTC website itself.
Very Interesting, call them and ask for support just to **** with them since I know ATT wont know what to do!
Now if they would just start shipping the kaisers we would be all set and has the two most powerfull phones on the market today!!
that is pretty interesting though since I think the AT-T rom out of the box had many bugs and issues. I know I spent a few hours getting the kinks out when I cooked up my custom AT-T rom. thanks for sharing though... as I say in my SA group

Hehe. Would they even know WM6 is?
so have you flashed their bloat-ware ROM off of it yet?
haha
Well TB this is interesting, no? Is one thing to purchase a used Hermes on Ebay that has jj or faria's stamp on it but this is official....
And @austinsync regarding the official ROM, the biggest complaint with me and mine is the radio... that dawg just don't hunt here in So FLA. Taking everyone back to the 1.40. The basic ROM, bypassing the ext ROM, wasn't bad... vg3g did a bad ass job on cleaning it up, major kudos. Am finding the majority of my peoples' complaints due to the 1.48 radio.
Thanks TB for that update!

Yeah, I was pretty surprised. And I've only made a couple calls on it so far, but I have to say it's not bad. The call quality with 1.48 seems good.
@GldRush98, I'm definitely going to "upgrade" this thing today. But, I'm pretty impressed by the speed and stability of the ROM so far. I'll probably do a ROM dump before I flash something else on it. Just in case someone wants it... for whatever reason.
I would like to see if the same exact one as the rom that's on this forum so let me know when you dump it please.

LMFAO!! I would pay to hear the phone conversation.
I just got mine last week but it had WM5.... of course it doesn't now!!!!!
I'm getting a brand-new AT&T 8525 (probably tomorrow) to replace my current Cingular 8525 with loose stylus (long story but the refurb they sent was crap so I complained nicely...)
I'll be interested to see what OS comes on it now but I am thinking of selling it new-in-box to help pay for the Kaiser...
I bought an AT&T branded 8525 on 7-23-07. It came with WM5. And, the AT&T store where i bought had just received it that morning.

I suppose mine could have been some kind of anomaly, but a welcome one. It was still shipped in the newer AT&T box that listed the OS on the front as WM5 with the "Coming in 2007, Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade" bullet at the bottom.
But I suppose all this doesn't matter a whole lot for me. I've already loaded up my own custom ROM and didn't really take advantage of this good fortune.
Does it seem ANY different from the one posted in my thread Taurus?

Hey Madcap. I was without a phone at the time, so I never got to checking it out. I'll flash it in just a little bit and see if I can find any differences.
Ok, Let me know.. would be interesting if there are different features maybe.

Just checked it out, and it's identical to the one you posted. Same build, build date, etc. All the programs match up too. Nothing more or less in either, it appears.
Nice.

sprint diamond question

I am planning on purchasing a sprint diamond in a week. can I flash roms even though it is cmda, not hsdpa? i was not sure since it appears my hermes only has flashing for att usa and t-mobile gsm carriers.
no response
Just wanted to see if anyone had an answer on this one? I may end up holding off on the Sprint Diamond if I cant modify it? Just wanted to know if the Diamond needs to be a gsm rather than cmda to flash the roms here on this site.
Im also very interested im thinking that it will have to be separate roms but if some one could set me straight that would be good
well
it appears no one knows the answer to our question. my guess is you cannot flash roms unless they are cmda versons. I think I will ask the same question in the Hermes section since they respond when asked a question. looking forward to getting a diamond of tpro.

Sorry for the question. I just didnt want to buy the cmda version if i couldn't modify it. with this info, I think I would be better off waiting for gsm version in the states although it seems the touchpro is coming to att soon. it sucks that only sprint and verizon are carrying the diamond except for a 700.00dollar unlocked hsdpa version at best buy but no way I am paying that for a phone. anyway, thanks again for the assistance. Have a good day.
There are CDMA ROMs starting to show up now. I just released a relatively stable one a few days ago.
thanks

sorry I dont have an answer to your question but I am buying the diamond next week from Sprint. how do you like it thus far? is the data network fast?
New Rom needed
Ok I have a sprint Diamond for a week now and I cannot stand the sprint Rom.
It is so slow, locks up, drives me nuts.
I love the phone and all it has to offer but I need it to run better, stronger, faster.
What ROM will work with a SPRINT CDMA Diamond?
Juicy CDMA rom appears to me, to be very stable. 2.2 is very nice, and he is planning a release of 2.4 any time now.

I love the phone so far. It's definitely the best one Sprint has had in a while.
The network is fast. Battery seems to last as expected.
Might have to get mine replaced though, one of the LED lights on the scroll wheel seems to be completely off- just a factory defect.
Much nicer than the touch.
Can't seem to figure out the latest radio version for it though.
apreciate it!

Thanks for the info. I think I might pull the trigger on this one. I with t-mobile now and just wanted to make sure the network was good. you hear alot of bad things about Sprint but they seem to claim to have the fastest 3g network. on mobile speed sites like dls, Sprint usually ranks number 1 ahead of verizon and att. thanks again.

Can I flash Titan ROMs on the Vogue?

I know the Vogue has the same insides as the Titan, except just more RAM, so can I flash Titan ROMs on the Vogue?
-C
It doesn't have the same "insides" as a Titan, and no.
i wouldnt think so...
nope. roms built for the titan afre built for the titan.
haha! i actually cracked open a XV6900 and a XV6800...they use all the same hardware, down to the exact model numbers for the internal parts, minus the screen/bezel and wifi, since the xv6900 doe snot have wifi (for CDMA version)
so, everyone is wrong and just saying you cannot do it just because. i thought it was fishy when these two phones were released with al the same software and support CDs, and Verizon did not even bother to upgrade to lthe latest info. plus the WMmodem drivers use the same hardware identification and DevID in the system manager. Sweet. so yes, the roms are interchangeable, except no wifi usage on the Touch

Flash it and keep us updated. Would be interested in seeing how this turns out...
(Oh, and be ready to not complain about a brick.)
ROMs in general are not transferable like this no matter if the hardware is almost the same. Its about allocation of bytes to specific locations.

Thanks for that. I guess he doesn't know the difference in the processor and the amount of RAM between the 2 phones.
^ Actually, he's right. The Vogue and the Titan are both CDMA devices based on the MSM7500 processor (as opposed to the 7200 on GSM phones of similar vintage). Hardware-wise the Vogue is much more closely related to the Titan than it is to the Elf (ie the Touch GSM). Haven't you ever wondered why the Vogue has a much faster CPU than the Elf? HTC basically took the Mogul, swapped the keyboard for some more RAM, stuffed into the Elf's case and called it the Vogue. Android builds for the Titan are mostly based on builds made for the Vogue, and there's a reason why.
With that said, no, Titan ROMs probably won't work on as-is a Vogue.
Don't do it!
Give'r a go and let me know how your brick..I mean phone works

Touch Pro 2 now ships with sense 2.5

I just receive my touch pro 2 today and was surprised to see it now ships with a version of sense 2.5.
My phone has Manila version 2.5.20121225.0
And ROM version 2.07.401.1 (80303)
I've not seen this before and haven't seen upgrades available to this version so was a little surprised. I didn't think 2.5 ran very well on devices below the snapdragon processor and especially didn't think these devices would ever ship with it!
Seems to work quite well though, pretty fast for a factory ROM.

What carrier model was it, or is it unbranded? And what channel did you buy it through?
Nice...
I'd like to know the same questions. Who did you get the phone from? what carrier?
the phone came as an unlocked HTC device from a supplier we use at work.
they were actually out of stock for 2 weeks so this is fresh stock from HTC, wonder if there will be an upgrade. would also be interested to see the chefs start from a 2.5 rom thats already designed for a lower spec device!

Nice!! You get a Rhodium for work??
Can we assume that it's a WWE (world-wide english) ROM? I agree that there's going to be a lot of people here who will want to get to tinker with that...do you think you're adept enough to be able to follow instructions on how to extract a copy of your ROM for devs to play with?

Flashing a HTC ROM or other in a "fake" hero

I don't even know if this is the right section, but I bought this cellphone from a chinese website
ht*tp://ww*w.eemobi.cn/product/detail-1-2521-8583.aspx
Should it work if I try flashing on it the official htc hero rom? or any of these other rooms here (VillainROM)??
You "hero" is not a real htc hero. it is a fake one. Obviously you can not flash any rom, including android rom. It is called "山寨机" in Chinese.

I somewhat doubt it... the hardware would need to be literally identical, and the partitioning of the device would need to be identical. And can you be sure the seller hasn't misled you with the specs?
Tbh. I can't see it working, and I think you'll brick your phone if you try, since you may not have all the recovery tools the hero has.
So no, and I wouldn't try it. Don't think you'll even find a way to flash it
fake or not, it has different hardware (chipset) inside and has a different SPL, so flashing one of these ROMs is never going to work, and might even brick the device permanently.
as from the webby i see is a winmo hero -.-" u may try winmo section on dual boot lol...
edit: reported to HTC hope they will do something to it to prevent us, supporter from buying fake HTC product.
i just saw...its 128ram/256rom...so i guess wont rly work with android...i think ill stick with winmo6.5....and btw is there a super lite version of 6.5? i looked but couldnt find any
Ouch ... I hope you read the fine print before buying your "hero" ..
I can guarantee that flashing one of these ROMs as is will brick your "hero".. It may be possible to get android on it .. but it wont be easy unless someone else has already done the hard work!
i gotta say...
those phones you bought are not even identical to real HTC Hero.
it might be based on MTK chips, which have different mechanism as the normal Heroes, and their system were written in a totally different way as the HTC one, they just implement a similar interface to the Hero one..
