automatically time setting in different time zone - P3600 ROM Development

Hi I was looking if there is a way to have the time to be set by the network in the time zone you are going to visit. I am traveling a bit and it will be nice to have that set automatically. I remember my nokia did have that. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
I found it...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"ShowNITZPage"=dword:1
That one shows it.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"NITZEnable"=dword:1
That one enables it at boot.
This came out of another posting on the XDA forum site..
Thanks to Shadowmite 1.1 - Cingular/ATT Trinity Rom
Great hopefully someone else can take advantage of this too...

Thanks for the mention! Once that first one is set the tab will be available in the phone's option menu.

Date Items on new ROM...how the hell...

Hi,
I can't beleive that I have to use 2 lines to show date Item on today with this new ROM! How can I hack the reg in order to optimize space on my today screen?
try this:
Hi Ecraseur,
Edited : I was not able to download your file but found it under another thread.
Seems to work quite nicely. Only question I have, it says "@466" with me, just before the time is displayed. What is this and can it be taken away ?
regards,
Ruud
What is the @NNN number
The @NNN number you see on your display is Internet Time, as defined by Swatch.
http://www.computeruser.com/resources/internet_time/
Best Regards
Hi Ecraseur,
OK, nice read. I now completely understand what it means.
At @562, I was completely informed
Now, how do I get it away as I hardly ever have any need for it.
Or is this not possible. I mean, there are different formats possible for
the date and the time, but the time has no mentioning whatsoever of this Swatch-time.
regards,
Ruud
You can ask to the developper

Greetings,
I'm the developer of TodayTime! I've read all of your comments and suggestions and I'll check the file, make some changes and post a new version later today!
New version will include support for date & time formats either on the left and/or the right of the screen (and maybe the center!), format support for swatch internet time, and font-size overriding.
Please check back later for a new version
Great! Thank you very much for the plugin
Is it possible to add an alarm bell time if it's turned on? Just like the normal WM5 plugin? And maybe the active alarms time too?
I personally don't use swatch time and I prefer alarm time
The changes are made, i'll test it and upload a new version tomorrow!

Hi any update on this?
Hi, i'm posting a little wm_paint bug.
When switching from poirtrait to landscape mode, time is hidden by a scrollbar if any.
Any way to check the existence of the scrollbar?
I'd like to see the clock icon as in the original version also (nuttin important however).

Saving email and other settings

Hi Guys,
I tried doing a search but i cant find any threads on this.
Does anyone know how to save all your settings before u do a flash? settings like the emails settings are pretty time consuming as i put in nearly 4 email accounts. It would fantastic is i could just copy a single setting file each time i flash the rom .. that way there will be less inertia to reflash again
You need to do a more thorough search next time
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308100
thanks man.. but actually was just looking if there is a single setting file for the email accts .. i dun really need all the other settings to be saved as i run my phone pretty bare..
i dun suppose there is a single file that you could just copy and paste over is there?
Nope sorry. The settings are all contained in different areas of the registry.
That program is about as elegant as you can get.
There is a way of making your own .cab file for these settings so that you only have to make that once, then re-run it when you flash your phone to get all your settings and stuff back. There is a thread somewhere about how to do it.
I've had a brief look myself but not yet got around to doing it - i'll have another look this afternoon and see if I can work out how to do it easily and post a guide for everyone else.
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Woohoo!
Just noticed that that was my 100th post and I'm now a senior member - about bloody time ;-)
Does this mean I have to do my own ROM now? ;-)

There are several threads on this forum abous this. Just search more.
For now try to use my example here that sets my POP3 and Exchange accounts. Just put your own data in and load it in a XML loader or make it a .cab file.
cheers,
dan

PM me and I will walk you through making your own cab for them. fairly easy.
Thanks
I'll have a look for myself first and do some reading - I always find that if I do that, I can do it easier next time round as I "know" how to do it and what's wrong when it doesn't work But I'll definitely take you up on your offer if I get stuck

WTF! Why am I in Vladivostok?

I have had this issue in a number of ROMs. I set my clock to +10 Hobart. Before long, it resets itself to Vladivostok. I dont really care, because it is the right time, but c'mon... of all the places.. Vladivostok? Sounds cool, I guess..
Yeah I had this too.
To fix just go into start, settings, phone, time zones and turn off automatic time zone.
Job done.

You are not the only one, try this!
I'm glad to have found a way to stop this from happening. Thanks for your advice. Question remains, though, why does it happen in the first place? I have noticed that a lot of these ROMs make no allowance for daylight savings time here in Aus, so that is one reason why automatic update would be handy to have turned on. Oh well, if thats the biggest issue I have....
Da, Comrade, I also have this problem.
I set my TZ to Brisbane, save, and then check again, and I am mysteriously teleported to Vladivostok again.
I think it is something to do with the way it reads the registry. It simply reads the hours past GMT (Brisbane and Vlad are both +10) instead of the next branch of the registry tree, giving the location.
Why it picks Vlad instead of Bris, I don't know - would have thought it went alphanumeric sort, but maybe it picks the last entry instead of the first.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I am in Syd so it was really screwing with our daylight savings time, my mind and my Calendar entries. It only seemed to happen when I active sunk. Will see how it goes.
Oh, and thanks to google search for without it I would not have found this thread.

TouchFLO 3D Weather Issue

Hi folks. I don't know what to do here. I have a brand new HTC Touch Pro2 (HTC Rhodium), as you probably know that this device offers TouchFLO 3D. TouchFLO has a weather gadget built in it. When I go ahead and tell it to find my CITY, it doesn't find it. I give it my ZIP code, it doesn't find it, I give it a nearby ZIP code it doesn't find that one also, nearby city is not found as well. My zip is 18966, but in regards to weather forecast we use nearby ZIP code. My zip code belongs to two towns and the town that usually comes up for my ZIP is a bit far from me. So we always use nearby city's ZIP code. But this app doesn't find any of them. My zip is 18966, but for this purpose we always use 18954. This city is 5 minutes away, rather then using my real zip code 18966 that is also shared with a town that is 25 minutes away.
So what can I do to maybe input more zip codes to find? AccuWeather.com - finds all of the zip codes mentioned. What should I do??
You can only add cities which are already listed. But you can add any city that is listed in AccuWeather, using the editor in the thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408918
A bit more cumbersome than it should be, but it works.
THANX!!!!!

Thank You. But as I understand this is a separate application. So I will have that on my TouchFLO and then this one that I will install would be just an application? I don't really want to have another application. It won't be on my TODAY's screen. I would need to run it. Unless I misunderstand this app. Is this going to replace the one I have??
Great, now I'm freak'in toasted. I tried to follow the directions in the linked instructions and now I have no weather at all andit crashes the touchflow on my TP2.
I am on the original rom.
Any suggestions please?

No, it replaces the original city/zip database with a much larger one, and the touchflo weather tab just uses the new database.

If so, than I need to understand this bit batter. If in future, after I do this, if I would need to do a hard reset; this won't affect it, right? If I do this, this will be permanently??
Help with your problem
If you don't mind doing a hard reset, then I would sugest that. You were given good info. go to the previous link. What you have to do is this. Have a storage card that you can download software to. keep a folder for the software that you have tried and want to reinstall if you have to do another hardreset. What you have to do is FIRST install MICROSOFT .NET CF 3.5 after that, then you can install CONFLIPPER NORTHAMERICA WEATHER v.5 After you do these two steps, then you can go to the WEATHER TAB and select to add a city. It will take a little while to get things going, but just be patient. I have it installed on my phone. I GOOGLED your zip. SOUTHHAMPTON,PA I then went to my weather tab and selected your city and it came up. As of 09:43 AM on Jan. 7,2010 the weather in your town was SUNNY 32% with a High of 37% and a Low of 26% for today. It works. Trust what you are being told. we all here were nubes at one time or another. We have tweaked and hacked our Smartphones. We share with everyone, so we can get help when we need it. This is just one issue. You will run into more and you will most likely get the answers that you need by keeping up with the forums. Try another browser called SKYFIRE. It's great. It is the browser that I have used almost since the day I got my TP2. Hope this also helps. Pay it foward!

Not for me!! I need to find 18954 not 18966 (Richboro is closer to Holland/Northampton Township than Southampton)
But, it doesn’t find any of them. I turned it off, and I use regular Home Screen. Besides Regular Home screen also tells you what day of the week it is, TouchFLO 3D doesn't do it. I’ll be glad to try to update from my 6.1 to 6.5 though.

[Help Needed] GMT in Zooper?

Hello Eveyone,
I downloaded Zooper on Friday and have been playing with it, learning it, reading the forums about it and killing a LOT of time with it LOL! I have learned a lot, and am ploughing through making my own theme for the first time. I have found most of the answers to my questions on here except the main one I need help with:
I want GMT displayed on my home page, not just the differential that's included in #Dz#. I've tried everything I could think of for it, including using the math operators to take local time and add or subtract the value of #DZ# using if then statements but nothing is working. I'm a pilot and that would be a handy value to show on the home screen for us frequent time zone crossers.
Can anyone help me with this please? Seems easy enough but I am obviously missing something. Any help woould be appreciated.
I am a retired Navy fighter pilot, currently living and working in Jakarta, Indonesia as a pilot training captain. Look forward to seeing all of you in here and if any of you live or wander close by, be sure to hit me up!
Cheers,

Zooper: How to display zulu time for pilots
KilaWatts, It's been awhile since you posted this, but here is your solution. I also wanted to display this on my zooper widget, and I figured it out! Even though it's posted late, I thought that it might benefit other pilots like us as well. Rob
$(#DHHmm#-#DZ#)$Z will display zulu time (eg. 1543Z)

Correction
I just realized that I was wrong, please disregard my previous post. The correct way to do it is to go to "Override Widget Locality" for the specific module. Then touch the "+" button. Type in the name of the city that you are in, and for the time zone scroll down and select "Etc/Zulu". The code that you need to enter manually is: #DHH#:#Dmm#z

Rob,
Thanks for both posts.....I appreciate the effort even if it's wrong mate. I understand the second way, however, that seems to just do it manually, and not automatically once I land in another time zone, like the time gets updated. Maybe I'm wrong and if I do it once, where I live now, it will update by itself when the phone comes on and I'm in a different time zone?
Thanks in advance and hope that's not a stupid question LOL! Caught me a bit off guard with an answer finally! My UI is all set up, sans this of course. I'll play with what you suggested and see and maybe you can answer my question in the meantime.....
Cheers buddy and thanks again! :fingers-crossed:

I wanted to display GMT that will auto correct when my time zone goes through a time change (-5 to -6). The closest I got was the following conditional. I hope this helps
$(#DH#-(#DZ#/100))$:#Dmm#
This uses your phone's local time and then factors in DZ.
Thanks!
