Sprite Backup is what you are looking for.
http://www.spritesoftware.com/sprite-backup
You can try it out for free. Use Device Upgrade option to restore to a WM6 rom.

As far as i know spritebackup does not do a ROM backup.
We have it and i did not see such possibility.
I was thinking more to dump ROM and modify nb files to create my own ROM after....
to customize it for our company and to flash it on every hermes laters on.

yaa im looking for the same thing
cus if i don't like WM6 i wan't to go back to WM5

WM5 Backup
Mr. Vanx has a walkthrough on how to downgrade from WM6 to WM5. It is pretty easy. http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=41&Itemid=27
And your current ROM is probably somewhere in here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades.
So, use Sprite Backup and Mr. Vanx's tutorial and you can go back to your current state.

Aye, you could either 'dump' the current ROM using some of the many tools available here or just do as Larsuck suggests and just go ahead with your ROM change but download a copy of your original ROM before you start, just so you know you've got it safe.
As far as I know, most or all legit ROMs are freely downloadable.

i don't see Rogers rom there so i still need help dumping mine

Well, wouldnt we all like to know that, unfortunatly no one seems to know, people are working on that.
ROM backup.
Hi,
You can backup ROM, if you wish with new itsme utilities.
But it will be no use for it, because when you flash, SPL checks for digital certificate of the ROM. If it is not there, flashing won't work.
To summarize-no practical use of backed up ROM.

Backing up of ROM

Can i backup my original ROM thats on my wm nw?
Yes there are instruction on the wiki on how to do this:

Do you just want to backup the OS or the data on there too? If it's just the OS, who are you with - maybe someone has done it already...

You might also want to take a look at the guide provided by Paul (and The Doctor) over at Modaco: http://www.modaco.com/Pauland39s-gu...nd-restoring-your-HTC-HERMES-ROM-t255090.html. I followed it and found no problems creating the ROM copy (RUU_signed.nbh) with the tool ued to flash that ROM back (RUUWrapper.exe). I have a T-Mobile UK WM5 build and wanted this as a means to get back to the ROM in the event of a warranty claim.
I have not used the ROM and would love to hear from anyone that may have used this method and whether they succeeded or not.
Regards
Hey Tony - yep exactly the same for me WM5 on UK Vario II. I followed the instructions on modaco and it works nicely Just remember to backup your extended ROM too in case one of the WM6 ROMs overwrites it (or download it via the wiki
I've followed the guide then flashed it back to check and it works but not fully because it was missing the ext rom stuff - put that back and everything was fine - as long as they don't look at IPl\SPL\RADIO ;-)
Smiffy.
Hmm, this sounds very promising, since I was wondering if this is possible.., once again I find out I love this board

Smiffy,
I read somewhere that it is possible to get back to the original IPL (1.01) and SPL (1.04) but I am not sure anyone has posted the original T-Mobile radio which was 1.05.05.00 on mine. Have you seen anything on this?
I would have thought that one of those skilled 'cooks' could put a ROM together that did exactly what we needed - but of course this would be only what we in the UK on T-Mobile with a Vario II wanted and the permutations would be be endless to cover everyones requirements.
I understand that a ROM 'could' be created that flashed the device completely back to its original state (WM5 build, IPL, SPL, radio and even Ext ROM) - anyone know of one that has been created? I know how to all the parts seperately now but lack at least the radio .

generic ROM before flashing new ROM?

Hi, I dont have my Softbanks TyN Hermes 200 base ROM. I reflashed ones to shaps WM6.0.
It is recomended to flash original ROM before reflashing to one of the latest ROMs.... is there a good generic I could use instead of my original ROM? or should I just flash the new ROM directly?
thanks!
Its usually recommended to flash to original ROM when you flash a hyperstorage ROM, ie. OS and ExtROM merged! If not, just flash them and it should be ok.
What i do is strip out just the OS and ExtROM from the orginal one and make a RUU just by themself. I flash this before i flash the ROM i like. That way, i dont mess with radio, IPL, SPL etc.

When I saw this post I thought exactly about this. Can you please post this "stripped" version of the official ROM, I'm growing tired of reflashing Radio every now and then. BTW, I was trying to do this a few days ago and got more confused than anything, so I just quit.
Thanks in advance,

I dont have a rapidshare or any of the file sharing account and file is about 80MB, so i dont have a good way of uploading the file. Did you try using dutty's tool (can be found in any kitchen) to strip the RUU file and rebuild it again? That's what I did, if that helps.

Hello,
I wanted to follow this method, but my original rom (softbank x01ht, wm5), is not available anymore. Can I use another generic rom, and in wm6 version? And using dutty's tool, are the "version" and "language" fieds important, or is it just for the info in the phone (as it will be a transition rom, I really don't care about it, even is it wasn't transition rom by the way)? Sorry for the noob questions, but I'm trying to avoid bricking my phone...

I am not sure about softbank, but if you can install any hermes ROM, then you should be good to go with any official hermes ROM.
I never change the version and language in dutty's tool when i create my own ROM's!
Ok thanks, that's all I needed! I will take the cingular rom as it seems it was the one which gave best results on hard reset issue.

1. There is no "best" ROM, the best way is to test severals till you get the perfect for your needs, however I can recomment Tomal ROM´s
2.- As far as I know there is no way to backup apps, but you can easyly re install them on your new ROM, you won´t loose any license key
Read the Wiki to learn how to succesfully flash a ROM
Good luck,

How can i save my current rom / os

The reason because i ask is, that i want to try WM6.5, so i will go on.
Is it possible to save all data on my phone and to restore it, if i decide to want to switch back to my current state rom with all messages / programms and so on from WM6.1
Help, suggestions, "anything" is welcome, feel free to answer.
sprite data backup does full back ups. SK Tools also has backups. Microsoft Myphone backs up all data, but not ROM info.
I would suggest going a different route tho, because restoring your ROM from a backup could cause issues. Back up your files only (text, pictures, contacts, etc) with Microsoft MyPhone. When you relfash your new rom, just log into myphone and download the information back to your phone. Also, another way to speed up the flashing process is to use XDA UC, which can silently re-install new programs after you flash your ROM.
what IS your current rom? is it stock?
More info would be nice.
If it is a stock rom that is already here then it shouldn't be a problem to go back, but if not, you'll have to dump the rom...

#1 My current rom is the standard Windows Mobile 6.1 Rom from o2 (live in germany)
#2 What u mean by Stock?
#3 @ More Info, i can free download a newer Windows Mobile Version - 6.5 - i think its a "providerabused" version - Link: o2online.de/nw/support/downloads/software/xda/htctouchpro2/htc-touch-pro2.html *can't post functionally link :<*
#4 What u mean by "shouldn't be a problem to go back" i thought that when i install WM6.5 that i loose my WM6.1, could you please tell me more about to restore the WM6.1 if i don't like the WM6.5?
#5 "you'll have to dump the rom..." Could you explain more?
Sorry that im not so experienced on that term, im an it guy, but this is new to me.
Would it be better to use an HTC WM6.5 instead of an o2 version?

When they are asking if it's a stock rom, that means have you flashed a new operating system on it (ie custom rom). Sounds like you haven't so you have the stock rom on there. When they say it shouldn't be a problem to go back, they mean you can always load the original rom that came with your phone, so give 6.5 a shot, and see how you like it. You can use microsoft myphone to backup your data. I use spb backup, but it's not free.
Personally, I would suggest you use a "cooked" rom by someone on here. As far as suggestions, just check out the rom section. Can't really say one is better than the other. Just back up your data, and flash away. Like I said, you can always load the original rom that came with your phone. Once you use a custom rom, you won't want to go back to the stock one. Hope this helps.

The stock roms from all the versions of the TP2 are available here in the forums, along with all the cooked/aftermarket ones. You can flash back to an earlier version of a stock ROM (like the o2 6.1 ROM) just like flashing to a newer stock (or cooked) one. In fact, you can switch official ("signed by HTC") ROM's without having to use HardSPL first...you only need that when you start to use cooked ROMs.
Is there a generel Toolsetup that i need?
Or is it simply a EXE that will do all on my phone by it self?
Other thing, is it whise to use custom oder cooked roms? i always think about securty in that term, so i dont want to keylog my data to anyone or, getting psycho if im think that, there could be software like trojans or keyloggers included.

XDA has wiki's and stickies for a reason. No offense, but you sound way to green to be doing anything without first doing a LOT of reading. Go to the Rhodium/Roms sub-forum and start reading ALL the wiki's and stickies. I'd suggest reading the ones in THIS sub-forum also. Once you have done this, and understand terminology as well as the device, then I'm sure it will be much easier to come back to this thread and understand what we are all suggesting to you. Good luck.
