VPN Client For PocketPC (Artemis) - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi all,
Anyone have any software recommendations for a VPN client for HTC Artemis. Using Cisco VPN backend server but not sure if Cisco do a PocketPC version??
Any help?
Thanks

I tried bluefire for a while. Worked nice with our Cisco VPN 3005 concentrator.
You can download a 30 days trial on http://www.bluefiresecurity.com/.
TJL

the only available free vpn-client is www.securew2.org - runs great!

i cant get it to wotk on my orbit? any ideas?

not quite the same...
but a tool im finding very useful at the moment.
SOTI Pocket Controller Professional.
great for work that I can control my phone and look busy. when im actually texting away on my phone with my keyboard etc. fantastic tool. and now today I cracked my screen so I need to buy another one. £40 on ebay unless anyone knows anywhere cheaper?
My mate uses this tool too but he didnt pay for it as he got a serial from the net the illegal bugger. Its a good ap though and worth checking out some of the other aps they got. comes with free trial if your curious. has many other features too like a dos prompt to the phone and stuff.
but for now I can plug my phone on and it autosyncs and I can connect and use it. just hope battery doesnt fail or Ill be prompted for password before it will active sync (I think)... or maybe as noone could actually use my screen. I think its safe to remove all password security as a safety measure.

Remote Desktop / tsclienr

I realize that not having a touch screenwould make it more difficult to use, however I think it would be still usable. Does anyone know where to get a client for remote desktop?
htc s620
sure the best out cost money but its the best

Sorry, while that is cool, what I am looking for is the client for MS Remote Desktop. I need to be able to connect into my company through remote desktop.
I have used this one, and it works well on my Dash
http://www.shapeservices.com/en/products/details.php?product=tsm&platform=none
It was worth the cost to me.
jax, i just dl'd a trial version of what you posted & installed on my t-mobile dash. i was able to log into my work server and the mouse pointer appears, i can move it via the directional control but i can't click anything. am i doing something wrong?
n/m, i figured out how to get that working. as far as i can tell, this is the best remote desktop software available. would i be wrong in saying that? I tried term serv 6.0 & it was horrible. i couldn't do a thing.

[Remote Access] Control Hermes from Desktop

Might someone know a program that will allow me to access my 8525 via remote control from my XP-Pro Desktop? There used to be one for WM2003 but I can not seem to find it and I rather doubt it would work for WM6 anyways.
BTW, I did find that I can control my XP Desktop from my 8525, that is pretty darn cool. I attempted to try from XP >> PDA but I guess that is not supported in that direction.
Thanks!
[PS I sure hope there is not already a thread on this for WM6 - I did attempt to search for one and came up zero].

Google is an amazing thing, you should try it sometime
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/wce/downloads/ppctoys.mspx
or soti pocket controller but that costs money, and I am sure there are a dozen other programs to do the same thing...
Thank you both [and for the Google suggestion]. While Google is a good thing for sure, generally it will not tell me that using a Non-Supported ROM [like with WM6 we are using] what x-software will be functional.
When I was using WM5 on my SX-66 I used a Remote Program and it really messed it up and I had to re-flash. So I was hoping to get some tips on what other users have used with Hermes/WM6 for remote access. Yes I know, Bah, Bah, bah....
With that said, the Google statement is still valid - I guess I was being a little to lazy.
no prob bro, if your running vista, for me atleast the microsoft powertoy remote control would lag during install sometimes, not sure why but I would run it and it would just sit there, so just a heads up if ur on vista, but it might not even happen to you.
I have WinXP Pro, Vista32bit and Vista64bit install on three different hard drives. For Vista I can not even get it to connect properly to my 8525, I gave up [temporally]! I am sure I can get it to work but when I brought the phone home on Friday I did not want to be fighting the darn OS.

LogMeIn - doesnt work, dont know if T-HD specific problem?

hey guys
it's a f***n' mess..
I just tried the RDProtocol to remotely control my laptop computer with my Touch HD - it doenst work. OK - don't hesitate - just try the alternatives. I did. LogMeIn. People around the web and this board mean, its quite easy to install.
So i installed the client for my laptop, registered with my offical mail account, rebooted my system and now?
First think - not TouchHD specific: My laptop pc is not shown on the list in my account management at logmein's webpage. Ok, perhaps i can handle it somewhen in the future.
The second thing is:
I visited "logmein.com/pda" with either Opera Mobile and PIE - nothing happens (because some people said, that there will appear a popup to install the mobile client)
However - i downloaded the client from someone in the board, installed it - but: I cannot found a program to start anywhere.
When i try to call the laptop and the listening LogMeIn-Server on port 2002 with my browser - nothing happens.
So... the only little thing i want is to remote my Laptop... but PITA - its not working. Can someone help, please?
thanks a lot for every hint!

Mate,...Logmein works fine with the native internet explorer on your device (press "start" tab and you can see the ie7 like logo on there and use that)... it does not work with Opera (didnt for me anyway).
The so called logmein client you refer to is no more than a plugin for internet explorer so if you have it instaled and using the internet explorer as i mentioned above you just got to the logmein home page and login and all will be clear to you
but i tried it with the native internet explorer (PIE - pocket iexp.)... ok, then i guess its a problem with my account, because i'm not able to add my laptop to the "computer list" at the logmein-webpage...
thanks anyway!
try logging into the webpage from the laptop itself
to add it (I think that's what i did)

It seems to work though I can't convince it to enter the password correctly when locked
But why doesnt RDP work for your laptop? Do you get any error messages? did you add a password to your account?
maybe it's easier to solve that problem instead of trying alternatives? i mean PIE is extremely slow..

also what Operating system is the laptop running ?
for example Vista home doesn't support incomming rdp without hacking
one of the vnc clones is a typical way around this.
and as Imperium said rdp won't work with accounts that have no password
and it has to be dumbed down for some rdp clients

logmein
I too had issues to start with, but a little playing around and it works fine. You have to use the "keyboard" input method, using small keys I find works fine. For me the " is mapped to shift 2 a quick think about that and I think logmein is using the local of the PC your controlling so in the UK shift 2 is ". BTW my regional settings are set to UK on the HD. Using the touch friendly keyboard (full qwerty) wouldn't work at all for me with the loginme control.
Hope that helps you!

Thinking of buying the Desire: VPN question...

Greetings to all,
After three years of faithful service, i feel that my trusty Kaiser is ready to retire. It has served me well and survived a lot (including being dropped in sea water), but it is time to move on. I think i will just keep my Kaiser in the car as a gpsnav until tomtom is released for Android...
Anyway, I am almost set on buying the Desire, but i was wondering if someone could answer the following: I use Bluefire VPN (with group authentication) to access my work email. Is there something that would work equally well on Android?
Thanks for any information you might have.
aalex
The desire has a VPN set up option built in, I don't use it and don't know if it is what you are looking for, but it is worth checking out.

Thanks for responding buddy. I will try and find out more info if i can. Problem is that i cannot test it unless i get another android phone on my hands.
VPN on the desire does what it should. It makes it act as if you were connected to that network. You browse the web through it, you can retrieve exchange mail, etc. I have not yet found a way to access network computers though.
In order to access network computers, you can try Remote RDP from the market. There is a free version "Lite" with which I was not so happy. Since the exchange mail works fine, and since the screen is still too small to really work on the Desire like on a network computer (although it is way bigger than the screen of the Kaiser, I also had one), I decided not to invest into the pay version of Remote RDP and leave it. Actually, I don't miss anything.
Hi there,
does anyone know how to use VPN with a token? Have not found out....and currently I need it but is useless...
Also, can I use this VPN and its settings to get connected to "secret"/hidden network? My company uses a secret net, which the Desire does not find....but was thinkning that if I could set up correctly this net I can login into it (but we use RSA tokens).
Anyone who can help?
thanks

Which Remote Desktop for 101

Ive been browsing the market for a Remote Desktop for my Archos 101. There are so many to choose from that Im non the wiser.
Has anyone got any recommendations to help choose?
I have been using this one for a while now, i bought it on my Nexus one and now i use it on my Archos 101 as well.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/remote-rdp/org.toremote.serversmanager
You do need to change the resolution a bit, but the good thing is that you can change it just so the menu bar with home/back etc is not overlapping the remote desktop.
It works fine through Wireless Lan for me, never really tested it with 3G.
Been on the pricy side though..
Teamviewer works well and you dont need to open up ports on your firewall to use it. I use it to manage all my servers from the Archos as well as my media pc at home.
My favorite is the one made by Xtralogic. Very solid RDP client

That looks good. Currently in Beta I see. Do you have to load anything onto your PC in order to access it?

Yes.
I tried it a few weeks ago, but I find it much too slow, I am using vnc on my local network and logmein for when I am on the road. I still need to check out logmein on my 101. androidvnc on the 101 works nice and fast for being on an android platform.
Maurice
Remote VNC Pro by Walter Yongtao Wang, in the market. I've used it for a while now on my tablet and phone with Real VNC on my PCs, mostly through SSH tunnels. Rock solid.
edit: I see that it's the same author as the RDP client recommended by Wiebbe above. Walter's got it together.
I just tried teamviewer. It was very simple to set up, but is a little slow. But considering its doing it over the web then its not bad at all.
Im going to try out the other recommendations too.
With the VNC apps, do I have to load someting on my PC too. I looked at the stuff by Walter but couldnt tell if I needed a PC app too.
Not sure why you guys are reporting it as being slow. I used VNC for years prior to Teamviewer...both RealVNC and UltraVNC. Teamviewer is about the same speed if not a little faster. It's not as fast as RDP, but it is a lot less of a hassle to setup.
You do know you can change the performance, right? Under options you can set remote control to optimize for speed and remove wallpapers.
There is also an unattended server program you load on the PC you want to control. Otherwise you have to load the main program and run it every time. I mean really it is like VNC without needing to do all the port forwarding and firewall crap on the back end.

Yes, you need a VNC server program. There are several to choose from and they are free. I have used RealVNC for years. VNC and RDP are both standard protocols.
remote desktop.apk maybe you need it...
xD
