Software 4 cooking ROM's & editing .cab's? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I have a CDMA HTC phone, the HTC Mogul. Now that HTC has released the first official ROM for it, I'm looking to start making custom ROM's.
What ROM cooking application is the best currently available that will work for CDMA ROM's? The HTC TyTn/Hermes is the closet GSM phone to the CDMA Mogul/Titan.
Also, what is the best .cab editor out there? I remember a couple years I ago I had a neat little proggy that let me extract them, replace any files I wanted in them, and the it re-cab'd them for me. I can't remember what the heck it was though, lol!?
Thanks! I already read the Wiki and all I could find was something for making WM5 ROM's and another one for HTC Wallaby ROM's. I couldn't find anything for WM6 ROM cooking that I could see. Please enlighten me
EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm Windows only. I have no Linux/Unix machines available. So maybe I can't do the ROM stuff at all?

Dumping ROM

One of my sales guys has just brought a spanking new XDA Exec he received from O2 as an upgrade. It's ROM, albeit still WM5, is definitely newer than the one available from O2 UK web site. E.g. ExtROM ends with .23x, and ROM itself is I think .16x.
I know there's a way to easily dump this ROM. I'd like to upgrade myself, and I'd gladly share it with you. In fact, he's quite keen to share it.
Only I found that I know how to flash a ROM into XDA, but I don't know how to strip it from an XDA...
Any tips as to where do I go for the tools? Am willing to do the search, only where?
The tool(s) must allow a nonexperienced person to dump his XDA's ROM into a file for me.
some rom upgrade programs will ask you if you want to save the current version in case you decide to downgrade later, I don't know if this is one of them, but if it is, you just might be able to start the upgrade process and save the old rom then cancel. Don't do it until someone with more knowledge weighs in on the issue. and please do post the rom if and when you get it, Thanks!!!!
Haven't done it in a long while. Have a look here:

and here:

Ideally use the mtty/d2s methods. Any rom dumper you run on the phone itself (as opposed to your pc) will not give an ideal virgin rom dump.

I wonder if it's worth a bother extracting this newer ROM.
On one side, everybody seem to be so much preoccupied with newer WM6 ROMs.
On the other side, many people decide to go back to WM5 after testing the Beta ROMs because one or more critical function(s) is missing in their world picture.
So I thought, may be for those who "repented" a newer official O2 XDA Exec ROM.
Am I the only one who has seen a production WM5 ROM newer than what's on O2 site?

Nope, I also have just got a new O2 Exec, with a ROM they don't have on their website (the obvious or the awkward to find place!)
I also would like to extract the ROM for exactly the same reason, ie decide to go back.
I assume you haven't hd any luck yet?

Cooks Help needed.

Just a little bit of info needed as I am new to all this cooking ROMS.
I am using the Core Kitchen which I have found easy when extracting a ROM and I have been using the schaps ROM as it contats the RGU files with the packages as oppose to the Black Roms which dont and I am not confident enough to be able to sort out that mess yet.
The question is in two parts and I hope you can help me a little.
Part 1: when you extract the ROM what is contained in the OS.nb file the reas on I ask is I want to get a Basic from MS ROM so I can start with my own ROM building as oppose to someone elses (VERY GOOD I MIGHT ADD) ROM.
Part 2: where can I get the RTM M$ WM6 ROM from a rom without any modifications or any added packages just the M$ PDA/PHONE ROM.
Please help this is the only two bits that im really lost with.
I have a Vario 2 on T Mobile uk
you might want to look at the FTP for vanilla wm6 roms...
the last time i checked, it was still there.
I have seen the Vanilla ROM is that the M$ RTM base OS then ???
hey guys,
can you tell me what specs you enter into duttys tool as im having problems?
thanks in advance
PDAJAS
ImateJasjam (HERMES100)
Radio: 1.20.31.10
Rom: Black IV Shadow
Olipro 2.10
Telstra AUS
Not sure im new to all this myself as you can prob tell.
Vanilla ROM has too many missig files that I cannot even find according to the tutorial with CORE an official ROM wont have any missing files schaps only has 1 which i know where to find it so can put it in the right place.
It just seems easier to want to start with a RTM official M$ rom and build on it rather than hack bits out of an already cooked rom.
the FTP?
Where is this? (it's early for me, is it in the wiki?)

Its on the Wiki i looked at Cooked Roms on the main wiki page and then it gave me a list of them that were avaliable. Vanilla was on the top of the list.
Skauk,
you can also give a look at the Dopod ROM posted here in the forum... even that its not the newes build, it has nothing added/mising; it could be a good start point.
Regards;
thankyou I will give dopod a look tonight then its so anoying that you cannot get hold of the latest builds that some of these people have so we might start without the bugs of previous builds...
if anyone knows where I can get a later build RTM that's not cooked already you would be number 1 on my xmas card list lol.
Dopod ispretty hard to work out also so anyone else help me find latest build wm6 so i can build on it ??

I would suggest you spend a little time in the upgrading section. As far as a stock windows mobile 6 rom, the problem is there aren't any yet. Although I think some upgrades may be coming along in the next few months. The roms here are pieced together from other machines or pulled from unreleased versions. I don't know of a true "stock" hermes wm6 rom at this point. You could get a WM5 rom to practice with which would show you what to expect, and what "comes with" though.
Good luck,

Diamond Rom Support

Do to the popularity of the new DIAMOND, I opened this thread to get support for the DEVELOPMENT OF A DIAMOND ROM.
I seen a Diamond ROM created for a few other devices, and thought it would be nice to have on our vogues. I would especially like to see one made that could be used with the PPCGeeks Kitchen , but any type would be wonderful.
As always, it's hard to get a developer to start a project based only on the request of one person. So if you would like to see a DIAMOND ROM build, for our device, please show your support. If you know anyone that can do this, ask them.
Thanks guys.
Tune in next time, same XDA time, same XDA channel!!!
I haven't read up on any Diamon ROMs, so what is there to expect from it, what's included?
SYS Porting Instructions
Here are the SYS porting instructions:

XIP and OS are (at this point) beyond the level of time and patience that I am willing to commit.

It is not a PPCKitchen.org kitchen, but it is a kitchen.

?????
I really have no clue what any of that is you just told me to do.
I want one that can be flashed, unplugged, and I walk away. LOL
I wouldn't be able to walk away for a year after trying that.
What you are trying to get started is already happening here

ROM Porting.

Call me stupid, but I have searched around ALOT on this forum for an answer to my question but have yet found any relevance to what I am looking for.
I want to start cooking my own Artemis ROM's. As far as I have read the easiest way is by using something called HyperCore kitchen. Now, I've started using this, but have found out afterwards that cooked ROM's available to download on here, cannot be extracted properly so as to be able to make one of them custom for what I want.
And as there is no official WM6.1 ROM for the Artemis, I am at a loss.
Basically, what I am asking to do, is to find out how to port a Kaiser WM6.1 official ROM so that it would be usable on the Artemis. Alternatively, perhaps find out what files are required from the Kaiser ROM to make the official WM6 Artemis ROM into WM6.1.
I hope I haven't confused you all. Any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe from bepe, tom_codon, Anja, NhatHoa? Any of you guys still about these days?
90 Views and nobody else knows anything?
This is starting to bug me now
I have looked everywhere. I have used the search, the wiki, google! I can't find any reference anywhere that explains to me how I can properly make a WM6.1 ROM for my Artemis using the required 6.1 files from a Diamond ROM.
HELP!!!!!!!
Start off with a base ROM first instead of porting. Porting can get very tricky and complicated. I'm currently in the attempt of porting a ROM (for the Hermes) and let me tell you, it's not easy. If you want to know more, i can show you what i'm doing via IM (faster) or here.

Looking for Latest Official USA Diamond ROM - BEST BUY HTC Diamond

ive been searching around for a few hours now i cant seem to find a USA htc diamond rom anywhere...i tried flashing an official wwe but it gives me an invalid device error.so if anyone knows where i can download the stock rom that are installed in the USA HTC Diamonds that would be great.thanx
Why do you want an official USA rom? It's very slow on my USA unlocked 3G on ATT. You should try out cooked roms. I personally use Swift and it's very fast and responsive. Try out different rom till you like the best one is the only way to maximize the potential on your diamond. Just my 2c.
You cab find the rom here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432496 I have used it ans it works. Not offical but as close as you can get to it.
HardSPL...
You've got to do the HardSPL first. I just picked up the Diamond last friday. I'm running Dutty's 2.9. If this is your first HTC, congrats!
One of the first stickies in this forum is a complete upgrading guide. go through it step-by-step. don't be satisfied with the first ROM you try, though, look around, see what works best for you. not everyone here (most probably aren't) lives in the US and can't even make guesses as to which radios will work best.
Once you HardSPL, the rest is cake. it's just learning to back up your data, so you don't have to sync, or worry about losing texts.
