Ok...
I know, this is wierd...but every now and then the \storage card folder just disappears from the system. It's like the pocket pc no longer recognizes that there's an SD card there. I've tried taking it out, and then putting it back in. But that doesn't solve the problem. The only way I could get the device to recognize that there's an SD card installed in the slot, is via a soft reset.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? I used to have an iPaq h4350, and this NEVER happened...
Thanks,
Quordandis
Strange...
Tell more about your SD card and device's ROMs (versions).
Let's see... I have a Siemens SX66 model PH20B1, ROM v1.40.00 WWE, Radio v1.13.00, ExtROM 1.40.125 WWE
The SD card is a PNY 1gb....Wierd, huh?
Thanks,
Q
I have a similar problem. But the \Storage Card 'sometimes' comes after removing and inserting back, otherwise the softreset will only do the trick. Any idea. My ROM versions are as in my sig
Our versions are almost identical, except the ExtROM is slightly different (which I'm not sure really makes much of a difference). Also, taking it out and putting it back in does NOTHING for my device....only a soft reset will solve the problem....
Any ideas?
Thanks,

SD Card spontaneously Disappears
I have the same problem... if I press a little bit the storage card down it appears again. I thing this is due to bad contact result of a fall.
I send it to repair but came the same way, they only up-to-date the rom version.
Should I try to open it and check the contcats !?!?
some more info
When the PPC enters this mode, if I browse the storage card through the PC (via active sync), it shows only the folders and all files are missing. If I sopft-reset it and check it again, (life came back) I could see all the files then.
Any idea why this is?
Yes, I noticed the same thing today...!
The folders on my Storage Card are still there...but are empty! File explorer shows that the folders DO contain stuff.
I have tried to soft-reset, but no luck yet. Strange.

Softreset worked for me..
I occasionally get this - usually when I have been using tomtom 5 and getting it to recalculate a lot - I noticed last time that the unit was a bit warm, so it may just be a thermal issue - I have overclocked to 530MHz+.
A soft reset sorts it out
I get this a lot too.. Programs that are currently running are
1. PocketPlus 3.0
2. Resco 2005
I notice 1 thing though.. that if I do a quick ON/OFF, the SD disappears and I have to softreset to get it back.
However, my work around is that when I switch it on, I let the thing fully load first before turning OFF the unit. (See through Resco today pluging-in). When the indicator appears.
So far hasn't bother me for more then a week d..
Happy trying.
Will try the same trick then...
I've uninstaled pocket plus 3.0 and never hapen again.I still have resco explorer 2005
Best regards
ooh
Im experiencing that same problem. The only way toget rid of this annoying thing is to soft reset the device.
after unlocking my TMA ExtRom on my MDA Pro, my software - installed on SD-Card, eg. ToMTom, Spb Backup, MortPlayer,.. - cannot be started again!
Even reinstalling does not work!
Is there any trick to get it working again?
Hard reset would keep the ExtRom unlocked again, so SSDD will happen reinstalling any software on SD-Card?
If even reinstalling not helps... So, make copy of SD card, format it, hard reset with inserted card and install you progs again... have to solve...
I'm not sure, I guess you don't mean that for serious?
Even deleting "storagecard" and inserting a brand new card will initialize this oe as Storagecard2 again,..., therefore SSDD!
I'm sure, all of you who have unlocked the registry have had these troubles, or don't you?
Amazingly, I haven't found any discussions on this issiue? Maybe it's quite too simple, I can't see , please help!
Probably the issue arose due to storing Mail-attachments to StorageCard...
Deleting this feature in the Email Storage Adjustments brought the SD Card back as StorageCard (without any index), and software works fine again...
Changing the Attachment-Storage again to "Storage Card" creates storage of attachments within the ~10MB Ext.ROM space (about 7MB free).
I can live with that...., but anyway, there should be made a change within the registry settings of the system storage for those using any Push-Service...
Is there a well proved solution for that registry-change?
Edit: checking out the correlating topics, eg. http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...torder=asc&highlight=ext+rom+unlock&start=375
makes me guess, that no solution has been found to fix the known problem?
Hi,
Every so often TomTom on my orbit loses sight of the maps I have on my storage card. I can't see any reason for this and have to recover from a phone backup . Once the internal memeory of the phone is recovered the maps are then visible.
Any ideas on what may be getting corrupt?
Cheers,
Neil

HTC P3300 loosing TomTom Maps
Me too. Italian OS. Once I even had to reactivate the map, after the restore. Last time that I launched TomTom receiving a msg of the type "Cannot find maps..." I just made the PDA restart with a soft IPL. Will you believe? At the restart TomTom didn't complain for any map missing.
Maybe it's a matter of low available memory when TomTom cannot locate maps.
Hope this might help you. Let us see, if anyone else is posting his experience.
Thanks for your comments.
Once TomTom loses it's maps, a soft rest wont allow it to see them, I just keep on getting the message and the opportunity to download a free one from the website.
I did a bit of playing around last night and can confirm that a hard reset then allows TomTom (installed on the Storage Card) to see the maps (I don't need to reinstall, just run the exe file) so it looks to me as if its something getting corrupt in the standard internal memory of the phone and that this is causing the loss of maps.
Neil
This is an SD card corruption issue. Email HTC to lobby for a fix. See the relevant thead.
I don't see that it's storage card corruption. If you read my last post you would see that the SC was left alone when a hard reset was performed. The hard reset would only affect the internal memory and that cleared the issue.
I think something is getting corrupted in the internal memory and not letting TomTom find the path to its maps. Maybe something is messing up a registry entry?
believe me. I have had this problem over 10 times in the last month. When the tomtom maps go missing, the map folder is usually empty. This can normally be rectified by softg-reseting the device which uses the backup FAT for the SD card (so I've read in the relevant thread) and restores the missing files. However, if the device attempts to write to the card again, after corruption (which TT does on application exit) then the card will be permenantly corrupted.

During a reset (hard or soft) WM5 will do a version of scandisk on any storage devices connected (Micro SD) which will try to fix FAT errors. So a reset does effect the SD card and can repair it.
OK RicardoC & debully, thanks for your advice.
I have already emailed HTC tech support a while ago. You know, I still think Resco file explorer may be the common link to my SD card woes..... I'll have to wait and see.
Cheers
Bluetooth possibly
Hiya,
I had this problem and it seemed to be linked to the bluetooth explorer setting a new storage card (virtual), if you get this problem go into settings and turn off bluetooth explorer and check what storage options are available from the memory settings, the bluetooth storage should have disappeared. Once I'd done this tomtom could find the maps again.
Hope this helps.... and you don't actually have SD problems....

i have tryed that and it seems to do the bussiness
This also happens if you have Bluetooth Explorer activated in your Bluetooth settings.
TT6 losing maps, you are not alone.
I know this doesn't excatly help, but I don't think that this is unique to the artemis.
I have the same problem with TT6 on my himalya (XDAii). It seems to be linked to either phone S/W or BT stack as I have had it happen to me several times after I have made or received a call. My workaround is to remove and reinsert the SD.
Has any one checked if other handheld PC users have similar probs (HP?) with TT6?
I have used TT6 with no problems on X51v.
Only had the problem on the Orbit when the Bluetooth Explorer was activated.
Hi,
I had the same problem on my Orbit, never experienced the SD corruption though. I eventually solved the Map problem by following the instructions, not sure where I got them from, perhaps somewhere on this site.
The instructions stated the following:
1) create an empty file on your PC and name it 'autorun.exe'
2) create a directory named '2577' at the same level as your maps.
3) copy the empty autorun.exe file to the 2577 directory
this did the trick for me
Removed the Bluetooth explorer from the Bluetooth installing settings from the Comm manager and hey presto, maps are back.
Rock and Roll.
What the hell? Before I've changed the File system cache to auto it did work! But now that I have much more ram available about 21MB, it doesn't want to start. So I tried to go back to 4MB file system cache... but nothing, still that error message.
TomTom 7 is installed in the memory card... wtf???

I've had this happen before, and if I remember correctly, it was a corrupt Map File. I restored an earlier copy of my maps to the SD Card, and all was good again.
Try hiding your maps and see if TomTom will run. It should ask you to use a Voucher. If it does, then it's the map problem and TomTom is fine.
Nope, I've tried this tip but no success... It's really odd...
Hi Zooster. Sorry to hear about the headache you currently have.
I have had similar problems in the past month, the first time really freaked me out.
In my case, I noticed that some of the files on my sd card know longer showed up, and later discovered that others had indeed become corrupted.
I solved it (and continue to do so when it happens) by formatting my sd card and copying back onto it a copy I have of all the Tomtom files. Infact, once you get it working again, I suggest you regularly make a copy of whatever is on your sd card in case it happens again. For me, it seems to be ROM specific, i.e. only happens when I flash some of the new ROMs. Sometimes the sd card suddenly stops showing up in file explorer, sometimes I just need to remove tomtom and then reinstall it.
The problem for you now may be getting the original Tomtom files, I guess it depends where you got them from.
When I flash some ROMS, this problem occurs. I have to avoid ROMs that do that and choose another.
I hope you manage to sort it out. I know what's it like when these things suddenly go wrong for no reason! Best of luck.
Mattster.
Ok, I'll try to restore original files... I'll let you know.
WHAT TOMTOM FILES DO YOU NEED ON YOUR SD CARD?
There seems to be an awful lot of tomtom files on my sd card, so I've started to delete some and see if Tomtom still works. And it does!
I've got it down to:
My Documents folder with maps inside
Voices folder
plus the following files:
ALBUM.VOL
AutoRun
Autorun.exe-run
Start
TTN
TTN2003
ttnavigator.bif
I've lost the 2257 file (that apparently causes automatic self install of Tomtom when you insert the card) so if anyone has that I'd like it back!!!
So, my question to all of you Tomtom users is: Which files are actually needed for Tomtom to work?
(I know there is the tidy up option of chucking any mystery files into a folder, but I like to know what all files on my sd card are actually doing!)
Mattster.
Hmmm...
Just had this problem myself, but might have fixed it on my Artemis
Originally I copied the TomTom Navigator.EXE to \windows\start menu\programs and it worked
However; it stopped working with the "not enough memory error" - so I started disabling applications, uninstalling them etc.
Still no joy
Just out of interest tried the TomTom Navigator.EXE within the TomTom folder on my SD card - and it worked...
I've deleted the .exe from "my device" and created a shortcut to my SD Card and now it looks like it is working again
Going to keep testing now - but perhaps worth a shot

For tomtom, TTN is the installation file, the others can be all deleted.
After installation, we only need the following 3 folders:
1. maps
2. voices
3. zip
All of them need stored in sd card root path.
If you need the satellite view, then you need one more folder in your sd card root, which is "raster"
The file "ttnavigator.bif" is auto generated by tomtom everytime you use it, you will always find it is still there even you have delete it sometime before, just leave it. Also "ttnavigator.bif" is a log file for tomtom, so it is useful, dont delete this file.

In the 2577 (not 2257) map are the following files:
AutoRun.exe
Autorun.exe-run
TTN.cab
TTN2003.cab
So you just moved them to the root

What I'm curious to know is, after a new ROM flash (i.e. before TT has been installed on their clean device) what TT files do they have on the SD card.

Sorry, can't answer that. Flashed my rom quite a few times but never bothered to clean up my storage card. Probably still got Tom Tom 6 and or WM5 stuff on there
i had the issue with artemis and tomtom Navigator v7.910.9185. It was on sd. Then i deleted voice and raster folder and suddenly the problem solved!
Then i copied voice folder back to sd with 3 voices (before i had about 25) and now it works like charm.
I have had this same 'memory' problem on a few devices,
it has always been sorted by an SD card format and a card restore from my PC.
as to Tomtom after a re-flash ... I have never had any issues with it at all,
I just restore a full backup with SPB backup.
i have tomtom 7 ver. 7.910 on my p3600 running wm6 pro but seems to always come up no gps device can anyone help, please send me a message soon thanks mossy
Go to Change Preferences, Configure GPS, Click Configure, Tap left Arrow to show Other NMEA GPS receiver and tap Select, Set 4800 Baud and tap Done, Select GPS in COM9, and you are good to go. Click Done to go back to main screen.
I had the same problem once, install chaps advance config an relocate the internet temporary internet files.
by default they are located in: \windows\profiles\guest
if you use youtube a lot and google maps i can happen too.
I get this all of the time.
the problem occurs when my battery gets lower than 70% and I launch TomTom Navigator 7.
what i do now is make a copy of the Map Folder and keep it on my memory card.
I also make a zip archive and keep that on my device (not SD Card) in My Docs or somewhere else with a copy of the corresponding .dct file and .bif files and installers.
this way, i can restore tomtom onto another sd card if need be.
usually i format the card and restore the zip archive!

Hi, my bluetooth does not seem to work on the device. If I reset it i get the error message on start up saying 'BTTRAYCE' is not a vlaid Pocket PC application. Is my unit faulty. I have thought about doing a hard reset on the device but wanted to check with you guys if there is a simple fix, the unit needs replacing? or if the hard reset would work. If I was to do the hard reset what can I use to backup all my contacts with there facebook links etc and will the facebook links still exist?

You can use a program called Sprite Backup, although its not free. That will backup a lot of things, but to be honest, its probably best to start from scratch as it backs up all registry changes too, which could be the problem for you.
My bluetooth works fine, what part are you having trouble with?
Bluetooth Issues
I am having the same problem.
I have narrowed it down to tomtom installation (no bluetooth issues until tomtom is installed)
I have tried with TT7 910 9185 as well as TT7 445 and after the reboot the same error occurs.
I have also tried installing it on the memory card, and hard resetting it, however, the TomTom doesn't appear to talk to any Satellites.
I installed Tomtom 7.910.9185 and it says "Unable to start. Not enough memory" or similar. I installed it from cab on my 8GB Storage Card in the same way that worked perfectly on my Raphael.
The point of telling you that is my bluetooth is still working perfectly.
As for you Bladesharp, surely if you Activesync all the relevant links and details will remain with your contacts? I'd say a hard reset will determine if it's a hardware issue.

I'm on 7.915 for TomTom and don't have the issue.
Links to Facebook won't transfer with Active Sync, they are stored somewhere seperately on the phone and are not part of the Contacts program in pOutlook.exe, they are part of Manila which is not transferable. Not sure where it is stored, have been looking now for about 2 months
I came across something similar to this last week after installing TomTom from a CAB, and found this post on a related issue...
http://www.noeman.org/gsm/trash-section/65951-tomtom-7-bluetooth-problems-sorted.html
I deleted the two bluetooth files (BtSdKCE30.dll & BtCoreIF.dll) from the TomTom CAB as described, did a hard reset and reinstalled, and haven't had the problem since. Could be the same issue?
Could someone who has not installed TomTom please post the dates of their BtCoreIf.dll & BtSdkCE30.dll? Mine are both 04/24/08 20:10.
Does anyone know if it is possible to revert to the ROM version of these files WITHOUT doing a hard reset?
If some kind person was able to provide me with the ROM version, can I just overwrite the ones in RAM?
R
These came from my device's \Windows directory, and are dated 14th May. I think they are unaffected by this problem, certainly I don't get the boot delay or BTTray boot crash that seem to be the possible symptoms of this. (Use caution, of course; backup what you can before tinkering in case of disaster.)
Sounds the same as my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522373
someone already tried the above files? will it correct the problem?
Thanks for the files.
I am happy to confirm that installing the two DLLs gets BTTrayCE.exe working again.
I just renamed the 04/24/08 versions to .was and use Total Commander to copy the files from my storage card to \Windows and rebooted the phone... ActiveSync wouldn't let me copy them directly from my PC as it said there was already a 05/14/09 version there and it was read-only!
As it rebooted, it complained that BtCoreIf.dll was from an unknown supplier but I just OK'd that and everything is fine. Bluetooth & TTN working.
R.
PS Didn't need to copy BTTrayCE.exe as this had not been overwritted.
Ah, thanks for letting me know. I wasn't sure if the exe was also needed, I only included it since one of the symptoms I was getting was that this wasn't a valid executable; but I guess that was just caused by the corruption of the dll's.
I don't think the DLLs are corrupted, just an earlier version.
Just like the bad old days of Windows 3.1 where installing one package would break others due the installing of different versions common DLLs. Gosh, I feel old!

Ah yes; that makes more sense! I still had a boot delay even with the files from the most recent TomTom version I could find.
Hi there,
i had the same Problem with TT. In my case I also copyed the BTTrayCE.exe. Now I dont get any error anymore but the Bluetooth can still not be started. Can somebody please upload the Original BTTrayCE.exe. Thank you
I did a reset of my Swisscom German Device. Copyed the 3 BT Files and installed the TT7 v7.910.9185 again. After restart of my Device the same BT Error. I replayced the 3 Files with my Original ones and restarted again. New Error comes up "Bluetooth Stack can not be started"

Thanking you very much kind sir. I unzipped these files directly to my storage card in USB mode and just double clicked the exe file and it fixed my bluetooth up for me. (good job as I am a technical biff when things get registry level)

As said in the thread here:

There is no need to replace the two files.
Just delete them and soft reset. They will be replaced with the two right ones.

I had the same and here's what I just discovered and what worked:
I removed the files and expected them to be replaced upon restart. When I checked I noticed a file in the \Windows directory named BtSdKCE50.dll - I had not noticed this before. I (re)moved this, rebooted again and now Bluetooth and FM Radio (!) are working, yay!
hth,
TA2
This fixed my problem. Couldnt delete the old files but copied the replacements over the top and that sorted it. My version of Tom Tom wont work stil but it is 7.5 I think.
I've had exactly the same problem I've tried overwriting the dll's with the files provided in this thread,
Now whilst I don't get the error message, when I try and enable bluetooth, I get "cannot start bluetooth stack" error
Any ideas peeps?
