Hello,
I'm interested in finding out if there's a registry key that controls the feature of Windows Mobile that closes programs to conserve RAM? I'd rather manage my own.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Matt
I think there is not that a key existed. but lots of softwares can do it. like htc x button, spb pocket plus......

Hey guys,
I have an Ipaq h6315 and it doesnt look like they will be releasing a WM5 upgrade for my system; therefore, I'd like to find out if anyone know of a program, tool, registry key or anything that will allow a Windows mobile 2k3 system to change the display into Landscape?
If you know of anything that might work and could share the info with me i would really appreciate it!

Thanks for the reply Vijay. Is that the name of the application i have to look for?
PHM tools?
Thanks again!

Is the 6315 running 2k3 or 2k3se? The original 2k3 didn't include screen rotate, but some people on this forum found a way of copying the Screen Rotation Service from a SE device to a 2k3 device. It was quite a while ago, but there will be something on this forum.
The original topic can be found here...

Findus,
I have regular Windows Mobile 2003 (non-SE)
thank you for giving me that thread info, i'll look and se if it'll work with my device!
Once again, thank you!
I installed the tool posted on the thread you gave me but unfortunately for me it didnt work. Maybe because mine is an Ipaq and those dlls are patched for a himalaya (maybe)
Just wanted to thank you anyways!
I have no specific idea about WM2003 vs WM2003se, but you want to try PHM key tools or something like that. It includes a lot of useful shortcuts, including screenrotation.

Thanks again Vijay!
Would you happen to know if PHM Tools is the same as PHM power toys? I've been looking for it and so far all i've found from PHM is the Registry editor and Power toys.
Thanks for the help!
By the way i tried "Virtual Display" from http://www.nyditot.com/Home.asp and it rotates the screen pretty nice and it has other useful options; however, when accessing the mobile phone application in landscape mode only numbers 1 thru 6 show on the dialpad screen
I'd like to try PHM tools and see if its able to display the dialpad correctly.
I have it
I have a copy of Nyditot and when I used wm2003 I thought is was very good.
Yes, Nydiot is great.
PHM - not sure what it's called now, I've taken my installation apart, but basically I have PHM Keys. Might be part of Powertoys. They're used with voice command etc as well, but contain a bunch of shortcuts. Try them all, they're all useful IMHO!
V
Vijay: Cool! I'm going to download the PHM Power toys since that's the only thing i've found so far (too bad i cant do it now since i dont have the usb cable at work LOL)
Littld: Were you able to see all numbers in the keypad when you used Nyditot in landscape mode?
I still have the tool installed in my PPC but when i try to use the phone in Landscape mode the numbers (dialpad) does not display all the buttons (i'll try to get a screen shot wheni get home)
???
So far I am always having to go into taskman to shut all the apps down. That is a major pain in the bum!!!!!!!
Is there something im missing or is there a app where I can just hit the end key and it will shut it down???
oxios close tasks is free and closes everything with one click.
i think you can set up celetask with a hotkey to close an app you are in but then you have to leave celetask running. i just go in and close apps every once in awhile.
Task Manager
Start > Task Manager
Press "2"
There should be an application to stop services like My5Service and SMSCReceiver and other services from starting that are not required.
Anyone know of such an app or can anyone make one?

try searching the registry for them and remove them
I use AE Buttons plus to map keys to certain things, it works on the Q so it should work on excalibur. I have one key that I press and hold (my email key) and that closes the active application.. kills it that is.
Hey everybody, thanks for all the feedback. Im very new to the ppc and smartphone world so Im still learning, Are smartphones like symbian where if ya leave the app open they stay running and drain the battery and slow everything down?
Isn't the CloseAll app a crossover app fromthe PPC. I thought it worked on the smart phones ?

To: developers who have dealt with Spb Mobile Shell.
I would like to have only one more profile in Mobile Shell: vibro and ring together (something similar to the "loud" profile in Spb Phone Suite.)
If I would add somehow this new profile to the existing three ones, I could uninstall Phone Suite that eats up a lot of memory and practically I use only the Profiles feature of it.
If someone had a suggestion, maybe a registry tweak, or some workabout, I would appreciate the help.
cheers

Daft question!
I know this is probably a daft question but have you set the ring type in;
Start>settings>phone ...to ring and vibrate?
I did 'hack' the profiles in the registry...
Instead of the three profiles I have one icon that starts 'scenarios', which I believe is software from ETEN...it came with my rom. It basically has four customisable profiles.
I will see if I can find the cab file for this and the reg settings if you like.
Andy.
[edit]
Here's a cab file that installs the ETEN phone suite...it should be a lot smaller than SPB phone suite! I've included the reg hack that enables the scenarios option in SPB shell. Enjoy!
Thanks a lot, Andy.
I also used Scenarios but -- if I remember well -- it took more than 1 MB, so after a while I uninstalled it.
I'll give your version a try, maybe this will be the right solution for me.
But the best one would be to have a fourth icon in Mobile Shell Profiles menu that would allow toggle between 'ring and vibrate' or just 'ring'.

maybe change ringtone script?
I have found on the wiki pages that there is a possibility to change rigtone/vibrate chacteristics in 'HCKU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script'.
But I don't know how to create a small app (or use an existing one) for changing from one script to another and back just by activating a shortcut.
Please, help me if somebody has an idea. (I am a simple user but I like fine-tuning my device-- if I can...)
Thanks,
ctibor
Well SPB PhoneSuite does this...even with an active icon in your mobile shell..

Yes, I know. Currently I use Phone Suite with Mobile Shell.
But my orginal point was to replace Phone Suite with a simpler and smaller app, while maintaining the possibility to have more than 3 profiles. If I were satisfied with 3 profiles, I would'nt need any other than Mobile Shell.
Phone Suite also makes the device slower (you know, Artemis is not the fastest HTC phone at all...)

If you want just profiles, than have a look at SBSH Phoneweaver
perhaps PocketZenPhone? it is a freeware application with profiles that are extremely cutomizable. possibly TOO customizable, as that was what made it too daunting to me, and made me switch over to SPB Phone Suite. It may be up your alley though, it's a VERY light application (only an 88kb cab)

Is there an application that allows you to bind keys for specific words. For example, on my Sony PEG UX-50, I had my CTRL + P keys bound to my password, so all I had to do is click the appropriate field and then press those two keys simultaneously.
C'mon guys. There has to be an application that allows you to bind words to shortcuts. If Palm had it, WM should definetely have it.

Sup yo.
Mostlikely a PPC app exists but very few of those apps are moved to SMartphone. WHich sucks greatly.

I don't even know what I would search for. JAm, you remember the ability in the Palm OS to do this right? I wonder why PPC and WM didn't adopt it into their OS.
Hello All
Im not sure if i can ask this here but im a VBA developer for Office Applications and wanting to write my first Windows Mobile 6 application on the diamond using .NET
I was looking to develop a freeware morse application that will help people practice morse code on their diamond.
Is there an API to detect the centre button press on the front of the diamond or can anybody give and help or guidance how to achieve this in VB.net
Any help would be most appreciated
