Hi,
I have recently switched to Cingular and have SIM/CID unlocked my phone. I have downgraded it from tmobile 2.26 Rom to versions 2.24 and previous with the cooked ROMs from xelencin. I am now trying to update to the latest 2.25 8125 ROM but get the dreaded error [296]: upgrade error. I want to load the official cingular rom to get all the settings and the MMS application, etc.
Any ideas? I have seen many posts on other sites that say they have done it without an issue. Is their a way I can extract the rom from the Cingular exe ROM file and install it manually?
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks.

Ok, so the title says it all. I'm attempting to install the beta standardization project rom 1.42, and the website says it should work for ATT models, but it doesn't for mine. Is there any way I can work around this, or is there something I'm doing wrong? The problem is that when I run the included MaUpgradeUt_noID, it goes to the current version screen, but cannot detect the version of the rom on my phone or the version I'm trying to install and have included in the directory with MaUpgradeUt_noID.
What do I do?

ive already flashed the verizon. which was not by choice but by desperation to fix my radio issue. but the verizon firmware wont allow me to provision my handset for my telus data package now.

no i did not. i dont have a verison serial # any ways its telus.
and my problem is i NEED the telus firmware because it sets up its base data provisioning from the firmware its self.
there are 3 parts to the flash. the OS, the Boot Loader and the Firmware which i think is the radio rom.
Hi everybody,
I brought a TD few weeks ago. The WM was in french, so I flashed it with another cooked ROM to change it to english. But after flashing I'm not able to access 3G. I get message that "Cannot connect for an unknown reason"
I brought the phone from SFR and on contract.
Can any one tell me what's the possible reason?
what ROM did you flash? perhaps you flashed a radio your network(s) do not like, if it was a custom ROM, try changing the Radio. Of course with all of this (if it's custom ROM), i hope you have hardspl installed
I've read on the other site that its dangerous

I have NFSFAN Latest rom with GPS, I want to go back to the original bell rom because bell world said they can't change my cell phone number with the custom rom.
Thanks
I have done it so many times......nothing hard nor dangerous.
Just use the latest bell firmware (with the GPS) and flash it.....

Hmm sounds kinda weird, I don't see why the need the stock bell ROM to change your number. Just re flash it with the bell ROM, go get it changed, then flash your custom ROM back. Just don't try to return your phone until you have downgraded the bootloader and flashed the stock bell ROM, but in your situation it does not sound like there is a need to downgrade.
just make sure that the Official Bell Rom has the 3.xx Radio or more,, and you will be fine.
Well I flashed to NFSFAN's ROM hand had nothing but trouble after that. Now, to be honest I couldn't say if it was the ROM or the flashing that caused the problem, as I unlocked as I was supposed to first, but I could not reflash back to OEM after that using active sync, I had to do it from the storage card. And now after trying it yet once again, my phone shows No Service...
So I would say that your mileage may definitely vary... I'd say if you're able to downgrade to the Bell 3.09.666 ROM from activesync you should be fine.
Keep us posted!
Hi all. I have an AT&T Tilt that's a little bit behind in software updates. It's currently on WM6 (AT&T ROM 1.57.502.2) and has a radio ROM of 1.27.12.11.
I'd like to play around with Android, but as this is my backup phone I don't have an active SIM card for it. WiFi should be fine for playing, I will get a SIM for cell data later (assuming that will work).
Anyway, I've tried installing Android a few different ways and I've encountered a number of different failures. I'm using the SD card method, formatted as FAT32. I'm starting to wonder if it's because I'm not running WM6.1 and the latest ROM. I thought the radio ROM was only in relation to actually getting cell service, but perhaps I was wrong.
Any thoughts? I'd like to avoid upgrading the WM install if possible as restoring all the data will be a bit of a bummer, but it's possible. If so, I'd like to stick to an official AT&T ROM. Should I try WM6.1 or 6.5?
Thanks for the help!
You should upgrade, there should be a newer AT&T stock rom available.
The roms linked here : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs are all stock and should not need HardSPL in order to use them.
I would however consider flashing at least HardSPL and getting the latest generic stock rom, since this will work with android on SD.
If you are unsure, stick with the latest AT&T stock one.
Thanks for the advice. I'd like to stick with stock on this phone.
I did get an official unlock code from AT&T. Any idea if the new ROM will undo that?
What did you mean about the hacked ROM running Android off SD card. Won't the official ROM do that too?
Thanks!
there is really no upside to keeping everything stock on it.
flash hardspl, and flash nand android. seems to work the best.
