auto update clock? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

I have had regular phones that were able to auto update their clock based on the network tower's time. I can't find a way to make this PDA phone do it.
I read in the wizards section about editing the "ShowTimeZonesPage" in the registry to show an extra tab in the phone settings page. I changed it accordingly and still no extra tab like they have, even after a soft reset.
Anyone have a way to do this?

i believe u are using a HTC wizard. If you go into the phone options and then go into the Time zone and check the option to synchronize. After that everytime the timezone changes it should synchronize .
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Satya

Sorry, I should have specified what I am using. I am using a Dopod P800W. I found the registry tweak in the Wizard section and thought I would give it a shot to see if it would work -- it doesn't. Even though I do have that entry in my registry and it was originally set to "0", when I set it to "1" nothing happens.

You can use a program called GPS2Blue to set the time by the GPS clocks, but it is not automatic.

i use sp time sync
http://www.spdialer.com/timesync/
i think you can set up auto sync but don't quote me on that!
word of yowarning, it uses a data connection to update the time.
hope that helps,
XaN

Activesync sets incorrect time

After flashing with several wm6 roms, the time on my Hermes gets set to an incorrect value when I connect to activesync. I never had this problem with the stock wm5 OS. Anyone have any ideas what is causing this?
just chose the correct GMT area from time icon
Either the time on your PC is wrong (but I guess you would've noticed this!) or the time zones don't match. Try double clicking on your PC's time and compare it to the time zone tab on your phone (under Settings, Clock and Alarms).
Other than that, sorry - no idea!

I checked the time on my PC is not wrong. The time zone on my phone is correct as well. I never had this problem with the stock wm5 that came with the phone. I'm wondering if it has something to do with using a non Cingular rom??
I got the same problem but I realized that it was not an activesync behaviour. I got active the automatic Hour and TimeZone change in the Phone settings and Spanish Orange got an incorrect zone set, so, every time I start my phone, my timezone changes...
Try to uncheck this parameter in the Phone settings, TimeZone tab.

I can't find where to uncheck automatic Hour and TimeZone change. I looked in "Clock & Alarms" under System settings and "Phone" in the Personal settings tab.

It's supposed to be a tab under "Phone" in personal settings tab, but showing it or not depends on a registry value. You may download the HTCustom tweaker from here:
http://shadowmite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2231&p=7890#p7890
Install it and set on the showing of the TimeZone tab in order to check if it's active or not.

Thanks for the info. automatic change time zone and clock was allready disabled so I guess thats not the problem. However I did find that enabling automatic change time zone and clock and then doing a soft reset changed my clock back to the right time.
You may got another option. In your PC (not in your pocket PC) look for this registry Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\xxxxxxxxx\Services\Synchronization
And change the value:
Sync Time on Dock
from 1 to 0. It will disable the activesync change of the Pocket PC time...
xxxxxxxxx is the ID of your partnership with the Pocket PC
Remember to restart activesync after the change.
Here you got more info: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms834164.aspx
Problem resolved
Thanks for all your help VivaErBetis. The registry change you suggested fixed everything.

Can't change profile.

On my friends Excalibur (AKA S621, Dash, S620) When he changes profiles it always immediately changes back to the normal profile.
It doesn't matter what profile he selects.
He has changed all profile settings back to their defaults.
It doesn't matter which of the three ways he changes his profile (Power>Profile, Profile change from homescreen, Start>Settings>Profiles) it will always go right back to Normal.
He doesn't think he installed anything.
He can Not hard reset (he can't sync for now and doesn't want to lose everything)
What can he do?
Thanks.
The quickest way is hardset.
Don't do a hard reset. Connect to activesync, navigate to \Application Data\Profiles and delete the profiles that don't work. They will recreate once you go back into the profiles menu and select them. They'll also work again.
But he may not be able to access the settings.

He'll be able to access the settings once the files are recreated. I had the same thing happen to me. I deleted the corrupt profiles and they all got recreated and I was able to edit them. One more thing. He can't access them through the settings anyway they'll just go back to the profiles screen.
Well heck, I wish i had known that, but all my stuff was synced anyways, but good to know now. That **** gets old, cannot access settings
Thanks, I'll let him know.

Internet & MMS not working, after Tmobile settings set properly(?) (Tzones), RegEdit?

Internet & MMS not working, after Tmobile settings set properly(?) (Tzones), RegEdit?
I used a cab file called "tmobyjoe599" to set my internet settings on my 8525 flashed with Faria's 6.1.
I am able to get to google, but when going to any site like m.myspace.com, etc, it locks on "connecting..." and the circle freezes. I can close the IE app, but then the OS gets sloow, and it doesn't ever end the IE task when I attempt to. Short of a soft reset, the device gets frozen.
When sending an MMS message, it gives me a sending envelope icon with an arrow, showing it's leaving, with a progress meter that gets to 95% then stops. Never goes past that.
I was messing with some Regedit keys for the server for the weather app and may have messed something up that way. Is there a way to reset these settings short of a Hard Reset?
Is there a valid cab file that will set the Tzones $5.99 plan internet & mms settings for WM6.1 for an 8525? I see settings all over this site and others, but none seem to be in the right places/settings menus as my load?
Much appreciated... I read this forum constantly, but hardly ever post.
JT
Yeah. I have the cab for the 5.99 and the 29.99.
The 39.99 never worked for me so I don't use it anymore. The 29.29 version works perfectly for me. I like the fact they make the allowed mms size larger.
Here you are. Enjoy.
Oh yeah. In the future you probably want to do a search and it will show. I'm sure you'll get that response from many a veteran around here.
Please note, I have already used the tmobyjoe599.cab file (I have it on my storage card), and even after a hard reset, after setting this cab, this is when I experience the lockup issues. Running this .cab doesn't reset the registry server settings, does it?

I don't know. You may be forced to either do a hard reset or reflash your rom.
Use Pim Backup 2.8 to back up all your data and do a hard reset. Then rerun the settings cab of your choice and see what happens.
Your registry changes may be the problem.
did you use advanced config or any other app to change the IE cache/cookies location to your SD card? I have seen your exact symptoms caused by this.. try setting them back to the default location
Did PIMbackup. I'll ck advancedconfig program to make sure I didn't change anything in there... Been in there a few times, not sure if I did.
After that, if it's still not resolved I will hard reset, then do the tmobyjoe599 cab, and see if it works and report back.
I checked Locations tab of advancedconfig and the Default storage location for downloads, ie cache location, ie cookies location and ie history location were all pointed to sd card. I reset those to device, and will ck shortly.
Internet works now you guys rock.
hummm i need step by step i guess
I downloaded the cab file for my t-zones, and it worked..only problem was that its slow and certain web sites cant be shown, mainly web sites with a password like gmail and a few others, how do I fix this?

Clock setting itself one hour ahead unprovoked...anyone else?

Hi Guys,
Forgive me if i missed this in the search, but I couldn't find this subject already covered.
My issue is, that the clock on my TP2 keeps setting itself one hour ahead. I set the country and city ofcourse for my location but cannot find the settings for automatic/manual summer/winter time or where ever i might have missed setting a proper timezone.
Thanks for any feedback
Do you have automatic daylight correction switched on?
Originally yeah butonly when I first got it not anymore since I
changed the setting. typing this reply on it too cool!

err... i might have, but i cannot seem to find the setting... pointer please?
thanks
I found with my phone (I am in Perth, Western Australia) that my time kept getting set to a timezone that was GMT + 8 but that was on daylight savings and so my time was 1 hour out.
I fixed it by turning off auto time update:
- All settings
- Personal
- Phone
- Time Zones
- Uncheck 'Automatic change time zone and clock'
Hope that helps.
Thanks dude, i found the setting now.
The really odd part is, that the setting wasn't checked on... I tried that now and will update when i know if the clock keep setting itself one hour ahead
OK i found out that the clock still sets itself one hour ahead regardles of the setting to automatically change timezones in the phone settings. any other help is much welcome thanks guys.
Are your pc and phone on the same regional setting?
I had a similar problem when mine wasn't
the pc is set for the correct time zone, and i cannot find the place on the phone to set the timezone manually, except if the home city has anything to do with it
Ok, have you used the Weather Database Editor to add you home location to the system?
If so, the you need to go to the thread that you downloaded the weather app from, and on page 3, I think, are the instructions rto edit the weather file. the weather app misses a bit apparently
no, my city was already on the list to chose from ...

Location & Time stamps

Hi All,
Searched high and low but can't find the answer and I'm a complete newb.
I have two small problems with my unlcoked AT&T HTC Tilt 2
1. After trying numerous radios 'my location' still does not update in the weather feature (currently using vers 4.48.25.20), just hangs then with USB I get 'connection error' message
2.Time stamps on SMS and MMS are way out of whack with when messages were actually sent or recieved.
Useing NRGZ8's ROM version 21.FEB.2010 WWE. I'm in AUST
Any help appreciated
Steve
1. Why are you getting a usb error when using weather?
2. Are your time zone and dst settings correct in settings-clocks and alarms?
If so then try this reg edit:
HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\
set the value for TrustTimeZoneField to 0 (decimal)
If that key isn't there, then go ahead and create it and soft reset.

Thanks fone_fanatic,
1.No idea why I'm getting a 'connection error' when the USB is connected and I try to update location or even if/how it's related. I've since tried another Radio (4.49.25.05) and found in another thread that I need to have wifi enabled even if not connected...that seems to work..for now.
2. All settings are correct, looked at reg edit and seems that I need to create Trust time zone bit as you suggest...beyond me at the moment so I'll read more on reg edits.
thanks for your help
oh so you had the device plugged in via USB and were trying to update weather/location while its plugged in.
Yeah, activesync/device center will kill your data connection when connected to the device unless you change the settings.
as for reg edits. They're quite easy, not too much harm can be done, unless your just browsing through the registry and changing/deleting values that you don't know what they do.
Don't let it intimidate you.
a popular free registy editor is PHM registy Editor or Total Commander (which is also a powerful file explorer)
Whichever reg editor you use, simply browse to the folder (folders in the registry are called keys)
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting\"
then create a new "Dword Value" and name it "TrustTimeZoneField" and give it a value of 0
exit it out, Soft Reset (generally a good idea to soft reset after editing the registry) and you should be golden.
Also there is a cab floating around, just can't find it at the moment, that adds the value for you, search for Message Time stamp and it you might find it.
best of luck
regedit worked for me, also try searching for "text message driving me crazy" it has the cab file i believe.
