Black Majik with Cyberon Voice Dial Enchantment - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Has anyone gotte the Voice dialer in the Enchantment pack to work correctly under Majik? I've assigned the button as normal and although I can run the application directly from Programs, calling it via the button results in an error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename.

Yes I've gotten it to work correctly. I've map button 5 (press and hold) to Voice Speed Dial.

Hmmm. Did you use the one in Enchantments.zip or the one from the old Shadow archive?

Yes I had the same problem ,I assigned the button (PTT) the quick one and it worked about twice and then the error. I then reassigned it to the push and hold
button and it has worked for me fine ever since about 4 days I will say I also tried that same button combination with Microsoft Voice Command got the same results so I don't think it has anything with the programs.

I also found this bug if you asign PTT button to something it will work fine untill you change another button (or even if you just open the "buttons" program), then you'll have to change PTT button to something else, and change it back to what you want, after that it will work fine untill you change something else again.

How to send an SMS without using stylus?

Hi,
I have just received my Qtek 9090 and I am very happy with it so far.
One thing I could not figure out yet is how to send an SMS with the keyboard without using the stylus? When I'm editing the SMS, I should be able to just press one key to send it and I can't find it.
Thanks for your help.
keyboard send message solution
Hi,
you can press "Lock/FN" key (lower left key) and then "Menu" (lower right key) and a menu appears. The you can use the navigational "joystik" to select "SEND" and the middle button on the joystick to select the option....
and there she goes......
okay, yes. On my system t seems that I can simply press "Menu" and then "Return". That's fine by me. Thanks.
Now another one Do you know a way to very quickly get in the SMS "Compose" window - without touching the screen?
Thanks,
François
Use the second softbutton above the call button to get into the messaging application. Press the navigation button to the side until you see Text Messages above the New menu. Hit the menu button on the keyboard. Use the navigation button and press "new"

Is there a program that lets you send ringtones and file attachments via sms like on the Nokia communicator series?
never heard about anybody being able to attach anything to sms's
are you sure that the nokia dont just sendt it as pop3 over grps ?
the communicators don't have gprs. I used to have 100's of ringtones on my 9210 and sms them to friends' nokia phones.
@t0flus : Great, thanks. I was mssing the side nav button thing !!!
So far, I'm very hapy with this device even if coming from HP 4150 I find it a bit heavy but I don't carry a phone anymore so, all in one, it is okay.
I guess the ultimate thing would be an SDA with Wifi
Other question : anyone of you leaving bluetooth always on ? Whith what impact on power consumption? I could not try yet because I did have the opportunity to try while staying close from power source during the day to cope with possible low on the batteries side...
Thanks.
Also, this we, I'll purchase a TomTom Nav 3 BT unit. I'll report here how the things go with the BT headset and GPS together.

Voice Command 1.6 & Dash Command Button

For those users of Microsoft Voice command on the Excalibur / Dash, I have found that "App 3" can be selected as the command button (selected thorugh voice command setup) and this will configure the home button as the voice command activation button (a long key press is needed). This substitutes the built-in voice dialing capacity with VC 1.6.
"App 6" maps to the end call button which can also be used, but you can no longer use this button as a key lock.

Oh, wait!
It works, only if BT headset is disabled, not connected!

perhaps you need to first reboot. After I rebooted, it worked but I did not try it with my bluetooth was connected.
Now it works all the time. Weird
odd call waiting behavior
At times, when I receive a call waiting, the phone has disconnected my first caller to take the new call. The behavior is erratic and i have wondered if VC was responsible. Have you seen this behavior?
great tip -- it didn't work at first for me either, but after i reset and tried a few more times it worked. thanks.

Voice Command 1.6 button on Dash
I remapped the pink 't' button on the bottom right-hand side of the keyboard to start Voice Command. The pink button previously opened t-zones, which I have no need for. It works perfectly and is easy to find without looking since it's the second to last button in the bottom row.

[REF] Sky's Remote Record Service on Touch HD

I've always been frustrated that sky have never released remote record for windows mobile, and recently even more frustrated when i noticed they've released an official iphone version!
It's ok to use the java version if you have a keyboard on your phone but i've never managed to log-in using just a touchscreen, until not. Here's how:
Before doing the following make sure you have activated remote record from your sky account.
Firstly download and install AE-Button Plus. Set it up in the following way:
Volume Up:
1: Press Up arrow key
2: Press Left arrow key
3: Press Enter
Long: Press Left SoftKey
Volume Down:
1: Press Down arrow key
2: Press Right arrow key
3: Press Enter
Long: Press Right SoftKey
Next download and instal the attached file (SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar), it's the java version of sky remote record.
Once it's installed run it and you'll be presented with a login screen. The username field should be highlighted in yellow. Press the volume up key 3 times. Your keyboard should pop up. Enter your username and press ok.
now pres the volume down key once to highlight password then press again 3 times. Now enter your password and press ok. Press the volume up key for a few seconds to login. It should take a few seconds and you'll be logged in to sky's remote record service.
To navigate around it just use the key mappings from above.
Got everything as you detailed......But trying to log in gives "Make sure tyou are connected" I thought logging in would instruct a connection! Connected to the internet and tried again! Same error message. Any suggestions? Ta

Trice,
I had solved this a couple of weeks ago on www.coolsmartphone.com , where it had been discussed for the Kaiser, but could not get it to work simply by mapping the buttons as you mention (Left & Right Soft keys would not work even when mapped in aebutton plus). Had meant to post the solution here, but forgot!!
The built in java did not work for me, so i had to install the java software they provided...and there was a registry key change needed as well.
See http://www.coolsmartphone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13782&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 for my solution, I've posted it below as well.
Firstly, follow the instructions in the original article posted by gears ie. register on the web for sky mobile and download and install the java software and SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar file.
Also register for "Remote Record" via your Sky+ box (instructions on the Sky.com website)
Next, as the HD does not have a hardware keyboard, we need to "spoof" the OS into thinking the HD does have one. This is done in one key in the
registry (which I found completely by accident while looking for a different one!).
Goto... "HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Shell" and change the value of "HasKeyboard" to 1
Soft Reset the phone.
We will then need to map some of the buttons to give us up/down/left/right, Enter and Left/Right Soft keys. As NickMilner suggests above, i use "AE Button Plus" and my mapping instructions assume that's what you will use. (the program does cost but i don't know of any other one that provides double, triple and long press options for each key and appears to work well enough in free/trial mode anyway!)
Map the following in AE Button Plus
Volume Up button: Single press - Volume Up
Double press - Press Up Arrow
Triple press - Press Left Arrow
Long press - Press Left Soft Key
Volume Down Button: Single press - Volume Down
Double press - Press Down Arrow
Triple press - Press Right Arrow
Long press - Press Right Soft Key
Green Phone Button: Single Press - Press Green Button
Double Press - Press Enter
I would have liked to use the Red Phone button, but whatever selection i made, the red button always acted as an "Exit" button in the java app, so I went with the above. It's a bit complicated I know with all those double and triple presses, but IT WORKS and i've soon got used to it. I'm sure you could chose your own combination of presses, but the above ones work.
Well, there you go, see if it works for you (I Bl**dy hope so...this has taken me ages to write!!)

Slightly different key mappings than yours (mine keeps vol up/down on the same keys), but the effect is the same!
I would suggest people try whichever works for them.

I was getting a connection error when i was trying to login while connected to activesync. I disconnected and tried again through 3g and it worked fine. Are you trying to connect through 3g?
I've downloaded the file, SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar.zip - and an app to open it, but I can't actually get it to run? I know it's bound to be something really simple, but can someone tell me what I'm likely to be doing wrong? Thanks.

You have to extract SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar from the zip file. Once you've done that move SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar to your HD and install it using the java client that should already be installed on the HD.
That helped me get a bit further thanks, only now, when I actually try to install it, I get the message, " The archive file (.jar) for /_SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar appears to be corrupt. -36".
Any ideas?
Can you not write a Dpad program to run the Jar program inside it???

Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, but I've been interested in the above problem for a while. I'm using the Xperia X1 Phone and have recently installed a windows mobile 6.5 rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508057
Previously I was using 6.1 and unable to connect to the application, receiving the message:
'The data connection has failed. Please check the network coverage'
From reading the previous comments and other threads I wasn't the only one. However, after installing the above rom, everything seems to be working perfectly (including remote record). I didn't even have to do any button mapping.
I think the internet config settings applied by my network provider (vodafone) was stopping the application from connecting. Installing the new rom applied default settings and eliminated what was causing the connection problems. I also tried via my WIFI connection, but it wouldn’t connect using this methos.
Hope some of this helps,
MJ
Followed the instructions as per OP, but seem to be struggling with AE Button Plus. I thought I'd mapped the buttons correctly, but they still don't work! Does anyone have any suggestions? (using v 2.6.6)
An update that might help some. I couldn't get AE Button to work with the CAB mentioned in this thread - so no Sky on my mobile! - but a different approach saw me try to access Sky Player using Skyfire ................ and it worked! A little bit fiddly, but useable.

[REQ] Possible to remap mute button on back?

anyone know of a way to change the function of the mute button on the back of the phone? I don't think I'll hardly ever use that function, and it'd be great to give it another purpose.
Appreciate any help...
it would be great to be able to use it as the camera button.
i know it's close to the lens, be careful.
m to record button
that would be great if we can remap to record but i used aebutton plus and it cant detect it, any other software recomendations other than Vito and AEbutton mapper?
Any new info on this? I'd love to use the mute button for something else, even if it meant the face-down mute feature wouldn't work anymore. I renamed a program's .lnk file to "Short_mute.lnk" and dropped in \Windows but it didn't work like it does for some buttons.
It is possible and it works like a charm for me.
I ran across a keyboard remapper by Tarkim linked below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240
Just make sure you choose the correct version (GSM or CDMA.)
I have used it on all of my keys, including the mute button on the back and so far it has been working great!
I agree with glw35 - I'm using this program for emulating Czech keyboard layout (CShack version - e.g. FN+S = š) on HW keyboard and it's working like a charm! And I remapped back "Mute" button to "Close active window"...

Id like to map the mute button to the camera
Anyone know how to do that wit this lil app?
1) Start program configuration applet Settings/All Settings, tab System, Keyboard Config
2) Menu/Add key
3) Press desired key (e.g. Mute Button)
4) Choose Action=Run program
5) Into Program edit box enter \Windows\Camera.exe
6) OK
7) Update Config (needed to reflect config changes to keyboard driver)
And it should work, I Yust tried it on "Back" button.

Mute button as record button
since i bought the device i always saw the mute button as record button, with mort script here is my contribution
just zip and put anywhere in your device, as the software Keyborad config to launch it on long press for example, the script will if HTC Recorder software is not running then it will run and start recording, and if it already runing then it will stop the record, the script even has a place to takle device being locked so it will unlock and do the process

mute button to record, help please.
hi everyone. this is my 1st post, and so far, i've been able to answer most of my questions by searching, so apologies if i dun something wrong, or am just dense and missed somethin.
ok, i have a meeting next week, and need to record it, surreptisiously.
1st, as pointed out above(havent figured out how to quote yet !) i've installed tarkim's key remapper.
seems to work fine, but, im trying to make the mute button on the back turn on the voice recorder. i've tried getting it to use record.ink and record.exe but although both options open the voice recorder, neither makes it actually start recording! im looking for a 1 button action to record voices.
i tried the zip above too, but it says 'unable to open, open from within application then try again or something.
can anyone help me please ? my career hangs on being able to record this meeting .
also, when using the remapped mute button, the screen lights up and shines from underneath the phone, which might be a bit of a giveaway lol, anyway to make the recorder work with the screen still off ?
and also, how long can you record for ? is there a limit ? or is it dictated by the storage space available ?
thanks in advance, thanks to all the mods n gurus here at XDA, you all rock, n i'm a confirmed HTC n winmo addict now lol.

mute button to operate voice recorder continued
hi rabia, thanks for your blindingly quick response ! unfortunately, i've been away for the weekend and unable to post.
i have a uk orange branded locked tp2. this has the htc voice recorder (version 1, build 1914.1333) already installed. can you explain please what the above file is for ?
in answer to your question, i do not use a password to access my device.
as mentioned in my last post, i have successfully mapped the mute button to the voice recorder app, using tarkims key remapper mentioned near the top of the 1st page, but this only starts the app, not starts the app recording. this is the app similar to a dictaphone, not the 'in call' voice recorder.
thanks for your time by the way, hopefully one day, my tp2 will work exactly the way i want, but i guess i'm a perfectionist lol.

good, get the zipped file extracted, put the MSCR file on windows directory, along with the link file, then assign the back button to launch the "LINK" onlythen it will launch recorder and record then when mute button pressed again it will stop it and close the application

ok, so i've unzipped the two files and copied them to the windows directory. then i deleted the previous association with the mute button, and assigned it to your record.link. press the mute button and hey presto, the voice recorder opens, but doesnt start recording guess i must be doing something wrong somewhere, but i've no idea what lol. guess im starting to do your head in Rabia, cos it's definately starting to do mine in

i guess there is something wrong, first have you got mort script installed in your device?, and secondly it it opend record and does not record it might still means u have not updated ur configurations after reassigning the button, to know if the program working correctly or not launch it from the .mscr file if it works from there then it works fine if not then u either dont have mort script installed "http://www.sto-helit.de/downloads/mortscript/MortScript-4.2.zip" or u dont have touch pro 2
regards
well, if you'd said at the begining 'do you have mortscript installed?' rabia
ok, so i had mortsript on my storage card, so i installed it
and nothing changed , except, my storage card became invisible
so i swopped cards, deleted everything, and tried again, including ur link to mortscript (4.2 instead of 4.1 i already had).
hey presto, now when i press the mute button, it stops whatever i'm doing, takes me to the today screen, and applies the screenlock
i now have a one button push to lock my phone
just to make sure, i pressed ur record.mscr file in the windows directory, and the same happens
to be fair though, my phones been acting up recently, so im considering a hard reset at the weekend as well as re formatting the storage card.
i'll try this again after as i still think this would be a kool feature to have.
i'll keep u posted, and once again, thanks for all your help.

Repurposing the volume up/down buttons?

i really miss hardware scroll buttons.
on the rhodium there are two little side buttons for adjusting the volume. i'd really like to repurpose these as scroll up/down. For example, to work inside a browser. Unfortunately, there is no standard option (i can find) to redefine the purpose of these buttons.
i'm hoping there's another way. eg registry hack etc.
thanks for any help,
Use AEBPlus
I am doing exactly the same thing with my Volume Up/Volume Down, I've turned them into arrow keys. The lack of these is my biggest annoyance with the TP2.
That said, I have noticed a little flakiness - most of the time they work fine, but sometimes I hit them and they don't scroll as I expect. Then a moment later they start working.
Anyway, it's much better than not having them re-assigned.
Incidentally, AEBPlus has a cool feature where you can tell it not to remap the Volume keys when you're on a call, so they can still be used then.
Thanks for the tip, i'll give it a go!
AEBPlus works? I'll try it. heard from another TP2 user that it caused his device to freeze up resulting in a hard reset...

Been OK for me so far
Yes, AEB Plus works (no hard reset), but I can only add the windows button. The <-- (back) button does not work when mapped using AEB Plus.
Also, if you're using the JBed Midlet manager, the arrow keys automatically scroll up and down. It works well with Opera Mini.
AEB plus does nothing for me... i just have a list of buttons I can't do anythign with, a giant memory leak and crashing.

Yeah there appears to be no way to open an entry from the list using touch alone - must be a bug.
Highlight one of the buttons in the list, flip out your keyboard and then press enter/return. It will open the Edit menu where you can assign that button to something.

Did you guys install to main memory? I had no problems with AEB Plus on my 1.19.707.2 ROM.
I could assign the vol up/down keys and could also add the windows key. It is a bit tricky using the windows key as the first press brings up the programs tab.
I added the back key also, but couldn't get it to work. I didn't touch the send and end keys.
BTW, I used AEBPlus v2661

I've been using it since I had my touch hd and it works perfectly and I haven't found it to cause any issues.
Personally i assign one volume button to a task switcher (spb ms3 task manager) which makes multi-tasking far easier. You can then map double clicking to the original volume functions and even long hold to something else useful such as comm manager.
Awesome Tip. AEBplus Confirmed to be working fine on TP2 from T-Mobile (still stock rom for now). I made the volume buttons map to up and down like suggested but also made a long hold for volume up do "enter/activate" and a long hold for down do rotate the display.
my phone (telus rom) keeps getting screwed up when I install AEBplus and gets back to normal when I undo it.
