Hi,
Just upgrade my exec to an orbit but still have lots of accessories. Do you think the exec car charger work on the orbit? I don't want to plug it in and find it goes 'pop'...
Thanks, Richard
If it charges through usb then I wouldn't think there will be a problem
Charger compatability
I use all my EXEC accessories with my Artemis (o2 Orbit) with no problems
I can vouch too. I use my old XDA EXEC charger with my T-Mobile MDA Compact III.

so while I was on holiday my XDA2 and one of the seats on "Rockin' Rollercoaster" had a slight disagreement and the XDA got it's face kicked in, but one travel insurance claim later and an o2 XDAIIs is on it's way to me this week.
I bought a spare battery for the XDA2. Although the batteries shipped with the XDA2s are obviously higher capacity, will the older ones work - be useful to have a couple of spare batteries.
Also do the XDA2 and 2s cradles interchangable?
Thanks guys
Ant
Cradles are not. Tried an XDAII cradle with my IIs and it's too thick
Oh No
I've just ordered a carcomm cradle for my 11s was a bit of a gamble guess isn't gonna pay off then, Does anyone make a cradle yet.
maybe i should have specified - USB desk cradle not car cradle. Don't know if that makes a difference tho
I tried USB cradle
www.expansys.com sell USB cradles but have no stock until end of Jan
when you say cacomm are you talking about the in-car cradel?
If you are then as there is no cradel for the XDA2s we use the XDA2 cradel and remove the slight gides on the side of the cradel, Then to put the phone in the cradel. Slide down the keypad lower the phone in and then close the phone slightley to hold it in.
We have done loads of these, i will get some pictures if this is what you was asking about
John
we have some XDA11 and XDA11i, they all work on any cradle but theXDA11 i will only charge using a particular usb/car/ mains connectordifferent from than which will work on the XDA11 ! O2 insist that they are all the same. Which is correct?
hi, i have got holux gpslim wich was supplied with in-car charger and it works with gps reciever but it dosnt work with my universal, why ? is it normal. shell i get some special in-car charger for my htc universal.
please give links for the best deal !
cheers, cudo
hi, nobody seems to be interested in the topic so I will answer the question myself. yes u can charge holux gpslim and universl using the same in-car charger (in this case I use charger supplied with gpslim).

Hi cudo
Could you explain how you managed to get it charged? I have a similar set up but I am unable to charge my phone with the in-car charger that came with the GPS unit.
Hello i have the same charger and for it to charge i need to turn off on the switch so that there lcd is off then you plug it in and wait a few seconds ( until the orange light turns on ) then you can power it on again. ( The power button is the one on the left side of the SD slot )
I also have the Holux GPSlim 236 and thought it would be ideal to use a car-charger with double USB output to power that and the XDA Exec.
Unfortunately, I've tried three different models so far, but a total failure. The charger powers either unit on its own, but attach the Exec then the GPSlim, and the Exec will instantly reboot and continue rebooting until the GPSlim is removed!
Hi Astage,
I sell a car mount which will charge your universal while in the mount. You have a choice of power cable's, one of which is perfect for the gpslim. It also has a built in amplifier and mic making it perfect for TomTom, etc.

Thanks for the offer, but I already have a more ideal holder - the Honda s2000 is a difficult car to find bits off-the-shelf for.
The double USB cable charger proved a non-starter, different wiring for the GPSlim 236 and Universal, so I used two different chargers hardwired under the dash so there's little to see.
i got an OEM car charger for the O2 Exec and it does not seem to functiona as expected. here's why:
- when the o2 exec is turned on (either running a navigation program or not) and the car charger is plugged in, the o2 exec would not charge.
- when the o2 exec is turned off and the car charger is plugged in, the o2 exec can finally charge. however when i start a navigation program, it would show that it is charging but the battery capacity does not increase and after a while, the unit will automatically switch off after a while. while on battery the unit does not turn off automatically after some time.
is there a problem with my car charger or is this normal for all car chargers? is there any way to solve it?
all help rendered is much appreciated.
I've had very mixed results with twelve different models of aftermarket car and mains chargers for the Exec.
The models that list their output at about 550mA seem to exhibit the troubles you mention - you need to switch on the Exec after the charger is working and even then with a high drain their output is not enough to power and charge the Exec at the same time.
The models rated as 1A output seem able to power the Exec and charge it at the same time. The o2 supplied mains charger is rated at 1A.
I've seen similar things with computer USB ports, especially laptops.
Thanks astage for your input.
The thing with the car charger that I have is that it is actually rated at 1000mA or 1A and thus I thought it should not pose such a problem. But apparently it does. Is there any way for me to check what is the exact output for the car charger? I am kinda alien to electronics and circuits board.
The thing is that You ll have to get special charging USB cable. I was trying 4 cables and finally 5th was working - it was cable for xda-2. Try it for Yourself.
It have something to do with wiring 5th line - normall usb cable have 4 lines connected.
Aha - one more thing - Your original Universal cable wont work ...
best regards,

Could you tell me where you bought it? Was it an online shop or a physical shop?
Is it ok for my Spv M5000 to use the original charger for my Cingular 8525? Being a little cautious but these devices dont come cheap?
