mp3 extension unknown - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hello, my first post at XDA.
My p3300 does not recognize MP3's anymore.
when I want to open from explorer is says: "there is no matching application for.........." (but in dutch since I'm from the Netherlands)
I can open them with media player. but I'm not able to set them as ringtone anymore.
anyone with an idea how to fix this

I would try erasing them and reloading. Could be a memory card issue.

It also doesn't recognize a MP3 on the main memory so I don't think that it is solution.

HTC music player doesn't work (AudioManager_eng.exe error)

Hello,
Today I don't don't what happened to my music player. It can search and find all song but after play the first one it stop and I can't change the music. play button doesn't work neither.
The music player totally disable and only Library and Menu icon work.
I also hard reset my device but nothing change.
I should mention after each hard reset I get AudioManager_eng.exe error.
I also delete Audiomanager_eng.vol and reset my device the get the error again
please soem body help.
Hey, I've got a similar problem but don't get an error message.
When I did experiment in trying to get it going again I replaced audiomanager.exe with a duplicate it gave an error. I gave a hard reset and the rom re-installed with no error msg on audio manager but still loss of functionality.
I am beginning to think it may be a problem with memory card so will try tonight to move a few mp3s to device memory and remove the sd, then try again.
Hey ho.
Problem solved for me, reason:
A single dodgy MP3 file.
I deleted a folder (within a group of similar) and it refused to go using Total Commander. There was only one MP3 left in the folder, I took out my SD card, plugged into my laptop and deleted it directly from the card.
I then re-inserted the card to my TP2, updated WindowsMedia library
I then did a soft reset
I then went to TF3d music tab and viola! All now working.
Might be nothing wrong with the file, but the TP2 didn't like it! Hope this helps.
JSM1970
The problem is solved.
I didn't any mp3 just go to registery:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config\device_scan_path_path and path0
for path set it where you copy your music and path0 set to \music in your device memory.
delete Audiomanager_eng.vol do a soft reset.
that's all.
I did it !!!
Hello guys ,like all of you i am a Htc fan and i had the same problem on my touch diamond...After many tryes i did solved this problem for me.
Try this and it should work and please post a reply if it works for you too
1-Go to youre music folder (path with all the music) and delete all the songs bigger than 10,5 Mb.
2-Go in device memory "Application Data"->"Htc"->"AudioManager_Eng" and there you will find a folder called "Playlists" and a file "AudioManager_Eng.vol"
3-Delete this folder "Playlists" ,and rename "AudioManager_Eng.vol" as you wish ,Eg. "asdfdasd".
4-Reboot your device and the player sohould be fine after a long seach for music.
5-For all the operation i ussed TotalCommander.
I hope it will work for all of you.

First off, this thread is over a year old. The final relevant post was one stating that the problem was fixed.
Secondly, this thread is for the Rhodium, not the Diamond. Please don't resurrect old threads for no reason.

[Q] Use MP3 ringtone from internal memory

Hello.
I have a problem. I have my own set of Call and SMS ringtones in MP3 format.
Unfortunatly when i connect my phone to computer in data storage mode (works like pendrive) phone access to SD card is severed and because of that ringtones are being set back to default ones, even if i disconnect my phone from computer.
Changing phone mode to media device is not an option.
The solution im looking for is a way to copy my MP3 track to internal memory and then select it as ringtone. With that if i would connect my phone to computer as storage device, my MP3 ringtones would remain because they are now in internal memory.
I dont have problem with copying MP3 to internal storage. My phone is running official Andorid ICS 4.0.4 with full root access (i have superuser and i can use apps like Link2SD etc.). Im using X-Plore app for file management, i can access root with both read and write.
The problem is even if i place my MP3 files in internal memory (tried a few of different places) when i select ringtone and then i press "phone library" phone wont find my MP3. Same happens if i want to play them in stock media player. It does not see them.
So my question is how to make my phone see MP3 files stored in internal memory?

you need to place you sounds in the corect folders
for ringtones: /system/media/audio/ringtones
for notification sounds: /system/media/audio/notifications
then reboot & see if you can choose them from settings/sounds..
if you cant then you have probably convert to the same fileformat as the other inside (i think its ogg), which is a simple task

Usb connection (MTP) not working.

Hi.
My laptop's hardrive died so i had to buy a new one and intall windows xp again. So far so good. But now that im trying to connect my tab to transfer some files, as i used to, i get an error of "MTP device failed installing" or something like that.
I researched about that and tried every possible sollution out there. The only thing that semi-works is installing Windows Media Player 10 (which is wierd bc i was using media player 9 before and the device worked well).
The reason i said semi-works is:
When i try to explore the files in it, it doesnt matter if its the internal or external memory, it opens a new screen with 2 folders. Media and Data. Whichever I click the system hangs while "thinking" and it doesnt un-hangs unless I kill the windows explorer in the task manager or unplug the device.
Sorry for the long post and my ugly english.
TIA

refreshing samsung music player

Sorry guys if this has been asked.. Any idea to make samsung music player update its music list if we just copy new songs to folder ?
Thanks
Go to Settings, Applications, show system apps, find Media Storage, go to its storage memory used and clear all data.
Reboot the phone and let it rebuild the media list.
So how do you prevent it from happening again? Is there the right way of copying mp3 files so the system will add it properly to the media database?
I'm facing now the same issue ?
Found the solution.. just add music files to internal memory not the sd card now it will appear in Samsung music.. u can move them later to sd card and will work normally
Still having this problem on android 11.
