Checking Yahoo email

Guys,
Cant seem to get Yahoo emails into my MDA Compact III handset.
I have gone thru the instructions, and filled in the email addy on page 1.
I am not sure what to put in for the User Name on page 2. I have tried using the email addy, and the email addy without the @yahoo.com bit. Neither work.
Obviously the password is in and saved.
On page 3 it is showing the settings as greyed out POP3 and Yahoo.
Page 4 shows Incoming mail: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk (this was already filled out, I have tried this as a .com as well)
Outgoing mail: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk (this was already filled out, I have tried this as a .com as well)
Domain: this was not filled in.....
I have asked for it to connect to both 'The Internet' and 'T-mobile Internet' neither have worked.
When ever I try to 'Send and Recieve' it always just comes up with a screen saying 'Incoming E-mail Password' showing my User Name, Password and Domain. But wont do anything more.
Can anyone confirm what format a user name should be. And also if the Domain is a req firld, and what it could be.
Thanks
Matt
The user name can be anything you want displayed on your sent e-mail, I use Mike Alder in this box and it works fine, the Domain box I leave blank.
From what you describe you have let the device set itself up automatically, I configured mine manually, you can still do this, but first I would check in your e-mail application on the PC what the pop3 address is "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk" might be the automatically loaded value - but is it correct? - I don't use Yahoo so sorry I can't be more specific - Mike
Can i add my hot mail as well?
thanks
ASZ
I think yahoo charge for their pop email service. hotmail is free to use, and even comes with all facilities for mobile devices to receive and download email.
To connect to yahoo for free via your desktop you can use a freeware application called yahooPops which runs as a pop3 server on the desktop (to which your client eg outlook talks to ), and on the back end it connects via html, translates and downloads the emails for you. Not sure it exists for pocketpc.
Other ways from the browser on the pocketpc you can use mobile.yahoo.com, or used to be a wap.yahoo.com or wap.ou.yahoo.com , which is a text only mail service.
hi all,
i have had my MDA CIII for 4months now. And i used the auto steps walkthrough to setup the yahoo. and surprisely it actully worked....that was until the other day. I dnt knw whats happened, but its like they have blocked me out or something . I am bit curious to why all of a sudden it has stopped. i know the fact you are suppose to pay for pop3 access, but then how comes its been working fine for like 4mnths.
can anyone think why it might not be working anymore?
thnx,
Snoop
Hi,
Just to update things...
I eventually managed to get yahoo email pushed to my phone by subscribing to the £12.00 a year premium yahoo account. It's worked a treat since I joined it.
Not sure why it stopped working for you, or more accurately, how it worked in the first place! But the solution is to join the premium service...for me, it's worth every penny

hey matt,
ye i know i was proper shocked the 1st few months when it was working. altho it wasnt the best. bcoz my mda kept reading both normal emails and bulk mail at same time. and i get 100's of bulk mail throughtout the day. i not to bothered enough to receive yahoo mail by paying £12. I have web'n'walk from t-mobile, i recon im better off just checking it using the wap version of yahoo mail website. which is what i would recommend if yahoo isnt your primary account.
Snoop
Good point - I have the w'n'walk, but love the push email thing and since this is my main email, it's great to keep bang up to date! Its amazing how little I use email from my home computer now.
I am lucky that I get hardly any spam into my inbox (touch wood) - and the premium yahoo (aledgedly) has better spam protection...

How to stop new email SMS

i had a Cingular 8525 which was bricked in process of upgrading the Radio to 1.38, it had Black 1.1 edition and windows live push email working which sent out notification every time i had new email or text.
My problem is i switched to Nokia 6230; and everytime i receive a new email on my hotmail id, it sends an sms to me.. this sms are eating into my MediaMax 200 Mesg plan (extra sms 0.05 )
Is there anyway i can change setting on 8525 to stop sending me SMS (i can borrow my friends 8525 to make those changes)
i plan to buy a new 8525 somewhere after 1st of April
please help
This is a known problem with messaging with cingular. Check the cingular Forum and you will see the fix.
http://forums.cingular.com/cng?category.id=gsmgprs
Basicaly you need to get your orginal phone back and turn it off there to stop the SMS messages.
My wife had the problem and spent 3 days on the phone with Cingular support.
Thanks Jcb..
well after going thru cingular forum looks like the alerts are set in your hotmail account (if you recently have been receiving emails from Hotmail/Live ) about their new services on http://beta.mobile.msn.com
so under hotmail settings there is a tab receive mobile alerts and different options. well there is a bug on that page even if you stop subscribe email alerts on mobile somehow after 2- 3 emails the email notification SMS alerts start again .
so i just saved no alerts and switched back to good old Hotmail so this has nothing to do with Cingular or the other escape route would be to delete the mobile number from Hotmail account and stay with Windows Live .

Getting a text message every time a new Earthlink email arrives

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone here might have had this problem...
Okay, I had this problem with WM5 too but somewhow managaed to get it to stop. No such luck with WM6. Here's the problem:
I set up my Earthlink email via the "New E-mail Account..." funtion. Works fine. However, now whenever I get a new email at my earthlink address I _automatically_ get a text message along the lines of this:
701
F: "Palm Store Newsletter"<Palm_
S: Through Sunday May 20, 2007 -P
Sent to <my address>
ID:345543456:1
In my email settings I've set it to Automatic Send/Receive to _Manual_. I can't think of anything else that would be causing my Dash to retrieve email headers like this. But its driving me nuts! because I'm getting spammed by text messages all day.
I've tried reconfiguring my email, rebooting, doublechecking my settings. Gah!
Go to your tmobile account on line go toyur email and disable alerts they are not supported on WM6 -rather they expert you to go to an exchange server
Wow - that was it. I had no idea TMobile would go that far to charge me for text messages Thank you muchly ljcaz!
aol email
i have a similar problem except my problem is i have aol set up in my email on WM6. on WM5 i was able to check email and it would stay on server. the new WM6 for some reasone even delets it off ther server once i delete on my phone. i have the setting on the phone set to leave on server but i dont know how to fix the problem any ideas

BB Connect and Calendar entries

Is there a way to accept calendar invites when they come through BB email onto my Dash and have them automatically go onto the calendar in the Dash? I found something in the Calendar settings but it only allows me to select Outlook email.
TIA.
were you able to activate BBC on your dash? when i try i get an error message. also i have no e-mail settings,, "unavailable"... services-- only provisioning, and my two mail accts. do you have the browser, im, and what ever else????
I am not sure if you did this yet or maybe you have it working by now, but in order to get the BB emails from, lets say T-Mobile, you have to add a BB plan. Then you have to go to T-Mobile web site, change your phone to a BB8100, go to set up BB email and set it up with an email account to push. Then after a while, for me it was 3-4 hours, go back to the email setup and there should be a notification that a device with your BB PIN# wants to receive mail. Click yes. It should start working.
Pre-requisites:
T_Mobile ROM does not support this working. You must upgrade to the new HTC ROM posted here.
You need to make sure you ave the LATEST BBConnect installed on your phone. Earlier ones did not work for me.

I need some major help! tilt 2 email

Ya the Tilt 2 has it too and that is what mine is set at....
I think you need to delete some emails .........
9000 ..........
LOL !!!
... and why not just move the first 8,900 emails away from the inbox?
Try using Seven (beta). It's a currently free push email solution which works well with Yahoo mail. No need to check every five minutes as your mail will be pushed to and from your phone as and when they are received/sent and you can specify how many days you want on your phone.
There is a link to the download page in the software sticky on the Rhodium software forum.
