Hi,
I just changed the screen, that is identical as the original one, for my blue angel, that was down for a couple of months without charging. Now when I try to charge the device it is showing me a red light on the charging led and not orange as it used to and as a result it is not powering up.
Do you have any idea what might be wrong?
Regards,
Michal
Battery is gone.. replace it.
Hello again!
I have a question regarding powering as well...
Can I power the battery without a running system?
anyone knows?
cheers,
krztf
well youcan charge the battery only in cradle's battery holder
elaborate pls
hi xplode!
i am not sure if i have understood you correctly, maybe may question wasn't that clear as well.... sorry! so just to be sure...
i wanted to know, if it is possible to charge the battery of the BA without having a running system (rom, wm) on the ba!
is this really only possible in the cradle? not with a normal synccable or charger?
edited to ask: is it possible to do THIS with the cradle? or cable? or both? is there really a diference between them?
forgive my ignorance!
krztf
It is possible to charge a battery without a running OS on your BA if you remove the battery from the body of the device and slip it correctly into the rear charging slot of the cradle (also means you can have a spare 2nd battery charged up.) If you don't have a cradle, then you're SOL, eh?
Whether your device can charge it's battery without a running OS you should try it yourself and let us know!
Still with the problem...
Hi, an update on my initial problem.
I received a replacement battery but the problem still persists.
i.e. When I place the device in the cradle it still lights up red LED.
Actually the battery is V20HR instead of V18HRT however this should not be a problem as it has identical specs except it has higher capacity.
Any ideas\suggestions what else could be wrong?
Battery Specs are as follows:
V20HR - http://www.varta-microbattery.com/en/mb_data/documents/data_sheets/DS55902.PDF
V18HRT - http://www.varta-microbattery.com/en/mb_data/documents/data_sheets/DS55802.PDF
Hi
I just had the same thing happen - not so fast with the changing the battery thing - It could be that the onboard battery is flat - leavve it in the cradle with the battery on for a long time and see what happens Thats what I did and eventually it worked - I know it makes no sense but it worked
Regards
John P
Hi,
Thanks for the reply however the problem is that I replace the on-board battery, pre charged.
I have not changed the main battery because it charges properly in the cradle.
Regards,
Michal.
Try putting the PDA with the battery on in the cradle and leave it a while - if it doesnt fix it take it out and put it back in a few times - worked for me and device is normal again
Kind regards

red light means extremely low batt.....guess your battery is faulty
i got the same thing.
and no it's not the battery.
it's the charging circuit on the main hardware isn't working.
open your phone and check the five small wires that they connect the mini usb to the main mother board, one of them must be cut.

so, is there a solution to this? or there really is nothing more for the device but the trash bin or for spare parts?
Have you tried this?

If you already replaced the battery and nothing, and you want to get rid of dear Uni place it for sell in parts on marketplace, a lot of people will go for it!

I had exactly the same thing with my old battery, after my try to discharge it with a lil electro-motor. then i found a post of a guy with the same thing, who fixed it-by "zapping" the UNI battery with a 9V battery, connecting + to + and - to -,for a few second. I tried it without thinking twice. It worked for me. Dunno how and why,but it did. I use the battery again, normal. But beware,it is dangerous to play with this type of battery,it can explode. Do a search on this subject and you will see
I agree with keeping_sg
how long have you left your uni on the charger?
just plug it in and leave it on the charger all night and see what happens.
I bought yesterday a 4800mAh battery from Hong Kong... 10 euros included shipping + FREE black back cover
Good battery life but still prefer to carry 2 original sized batts rather than get that big one, making even bigger our Uni
Respectfully,
Yes, that absolutely means your battery is dead. Try charging for a few more hours and then turn on your PocketPC. If the error persists, try changing the battery.

Hello guys,
I have a problem, i haven't used my VPAIII for 6 months, and some days ago i wanted to turn it on, and it didn't react, so i decided that battery is low, i connected my device to cradle, and wait for some hours. So the problem is then device in cradle it's ok i can switch it on and it works perfectly, but if i remove it from cradle it turns off imediately and i can't turn on it again without connecting to cradle chargement, also it doesnt react to usb connection as chargment. Battery is totaly new it was bought from ebay (expanded 3400 mAH). Interesting thing that if i connect to cradle, device turns on automaticall and 1 time blinks led in red and goes booting system with no led light, after i see Windows screen it starting show the same right led in orange always, i see charging battery meter in windows but battery didnt go more then 50%, and everytime i boot on i receive Backup battery Very Low notification no matter how much i was charging my battery.
So i'm afraid maybe it's internal backup battery failure, or my main battery didn't get chargement then it says that charging. Maybe someone of You guys have any usefull advices, what can be the problem? Also if it possible maybe somebody can give me alink or image to see there this backup battery soldered on scheme.
Thanks ppl!!!

It sounds like the main battery is bad.
Is the battery you picked up new, or new as of 6 months ago? If it's new-new, it is still possible that it is bad.
Also, the charging circuit may have died. Most electronics will work and work, and when they do die, it's usually when power is applied to them (turned on, charged, etc).
The fact that it does charge up to 50% makes me think the main battery is bad. Do you still have the original battery? Try it and see what that does.

The internal battery is used only when the main battery is discharged or missing.

Thanks for reply, new battery i bought maybe 4-6 months ago i used it maybe 1 week, after that i turned off my device and left it for 4-6 months, so nothing should be happened to battery. I'll check device with old one, but it seems that device didn't work with original old one battery too.
Any other solutions, advices?
Thank You very much guys for help!!!!

i have a p3300; no power lights when charger is connected; doesn't power on as well. battery is fully charged, battery and charger are both fine. but sometimes the p3300 powers on just fine; if i connect the ac charger then it also charges the battery. but it hangs in windows mobile 5 after some time (trackball and buttons and system does not respond anymore); after a soft reset no power/power lights or boot at all. then after some time and fiddling it might power on again and the cycle starts again.
i know it is a common problem; but is there a solution?
the backup battery (yes, there is one in it. the same as in the qtek 8310) gives me 0.20 volt. not sure how much it should be. but the backup battery in my qtek 8310 gives also 0.20 volt. not sure whether both are drained or that the voltage is normal.
will a drained backupbattery prevent it from booting up fine? or... hope to get it up running reliable again; great navigation phone with tomtom.
edited:
without the battery installed i get a red light flashing quickly if i put the 5volt charger on it; same if i connect an usb cable (connected to my computer);
if i have the battery installed; i do not get a red light flashing.
with the battery plugged in and the charger plugged in; i don't see any charging lights. but it does charges my battery; i started with 3.7 volt, and it is going up (now at 3.9 volt).
in both instances i cannot get it to power on/into bootloader mode.
i've got exactly the same issue
I was given this phone by my brother as its broken, i tend to get alot of his broken stuff anyway i stripped the phone down and found that the little battery inside had leaked so i did a little bit of hack wiring and bodged a 3.3 volt battery used in a PC to power the cmos chip well it seems to have sorted the problem apart from the fact there are two wires hanging out of the phone but i've also noticed this battery voltage has dropped to 2.6 v now and still dropping over the days i'm guessing i'm going to have to make it replaceable.
oh just for the record
my brother tried a replacement main battery on it originally and tried flashing it with a clean rom to try and fix it but it carried on hence passing it on to me
...
...to both of you...
buy a new battery..
leave it OFF while charging!!!
when the green led comes on (orange while charging... red flashing indicates battery is dead)
done.. turn it on..
batterys are cheep on ebay..
(if this dont work, pm me.. it could be something totaly differant but buying a new battery is the usual soloution for this common problem)
Hi,
yesterday I bought a used R800i, the seller said I just need to charge the Battery. So back at home i plugged it to a charger an the LED near the power button startet blinking. First I thought it´s not a big deal but after a couple of hours it was clear that this is not alrigt. Even if i remove the battery the red light keeps blinking continuous (not 3 times or something similar, just every second once). I don´t know if it´s a software or hardware bug but could you help me to get it fixed?
best Regards
Lukas
It could be empty battery (but voltage level is not high enough to start charging).
Check with flashtool can you enter flash mode or fastboot mode (if you can, then it's probably empty battery)
If you can, check voltage level of battery with voltmeter.
It can be that motherboard is dead, but to be sure, you must know what is voltage level of battery.
For now, try leaving it charging, it might take some time (few hours or more) to actually start charging...
Sent from my R800i using XDA Free mobile app
Over USB i only get unkown device, but USB with the Test Point works, measuring the Batter was 0 Volts but charging over hours didn´t help

If battery have 0 volts then it's dead and (most likely) can't be charged anymore. You need new battery, so you can know is motherboard is working or not.
But that is just my opinion, and i could be wrong...
Maybe to try and charge battery from external source of 5V power , easiest way is cut some usb cable or take two wires from PC's molex connector (red is +5V, black is GND) and charge it for shortly (about 30sec-1min) and measure does it have at least 3.2V. Repeat short charging untill it does. If it stay on 0V then is dead for sure.
I was really able to charge the battery over a cut USB cable. I got it to boot until lookscreen (digitizer does not response) but then the battery turned hot and the Xperia shut down. I ordered now a new battery then it should work again

Digitizer not working could be faulty slider-flex cable or simply software error due overheating. You'll know with new battery...
Flex Cable looks like this, should I get a new one?

Yes, that's slider flex cable.
But wait untill you get new battery. Then you'll know does it have more problems or it is working normally
Sad News, today I got the new battery and i was even able to boot up the phone, but like the last time i was able to boot it up the battery and the mainboard got hot. I think the loading circuit is broken. So there are two options 1. buy a external charger for the batterie or 2. sell the phone as rarely used on ebay
No really I´m selling it, even if i get a charger theres also the problem with the not working digitzer. Thanks for your Help but this is ways to big for me.
Regards Lukas

Sorry to hear that. Obviously problem is much bigger and hard to tell what is wrong without some proffesional look into it (lot of reasons for phone to get hot by itself - there is short circuit somewhere and that's why it's draing battery fast and causing overheating). I don't think external charger will solve problems.
Anyway, good luck :good:
Hi all!
So, I've got quite an annoying problem here. Whenever I plug in my phone (when it's at least beneath 50%, haven't tested it above 50%) it just drops like 20%.
The battery has only been in operation for a few days, it's an entirely new original battery I bought a previous week, means it couldn't be the battery causing it (I replaced it just for that reason that it drops when I plug it in).
So, does somebody know what the problem could be?
Battery: Can't be.
ROM: Possibly, but I've had it on another ROM too, sure of that.
Phone: Could be, but I can't just buy a new one yet.
Thanks in advance!
Bump
Isn't the battery non-removable? Or did you replace it at a support centre or remove the screws to get access to the battery?
From what it looks like, there is probably a short circuit somewhere in your phone's circuit board. There is also the possibility that the charging cable you are using is damaged/burnt on the inside. I recommend you first use a different microUSB cable to charge your phone to see if that solves the issue. I had experience with the latter and solved it using this method.
