Hi,
I'm trying to use a simple smart card reader with the xda, which means
opening COM1 and speaking with the device. My software works well on Ipaq PocketPC, but communication fails if I use the XDA instead. As I get the port opened, the problem seems to be a hardware thing (i.e the cables). One hint is: We didn't measure any voltage at the XDA's RS2323_RTS and RS232_DTR lines, while we did so at the Ipaq.
Does this problem sound familiar to anyone ? What about the missing voltage ? Or may it be just a cable problem in the end - How then should I connect both devices ?

Probably quite useless, but how do you connect the smartcardreader to the XDA? I think you´re using the Pin-connector at the bottom of the xda. Do you use the same cable, that you use with your Ipaq?
You know it is the same connector, but with different pin layout.....

Stefan
Hallo Stefan,
Now, I do use the Pin-connector at the bottom of the xda, but it's a cable made especially for the XDA, so there's not lying the problem. The connections made by this cable may not be the right ones; anyway there remains the voltage problem, consisting in that the plugged card reader may not get any voltage supply. Has anyone around had this problem ?

Christian
after Update to WM5 with ported Himalaya Rom there is a Wifi and Bluetooth Ikon down right on my today screen.
To remove the Bluetooth Ikon is easy, but i can´t find a way to remove this Wifi Ikon
Hi Folks,
just bought the Artemis and...
I installed TomTom V6.000.
I downloaded the QuickGPS-File.
I Followed the instructions in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351202
Programs Tab
GPS Program Port COM4
Hardware Tab
None and 9600
Access Tab
Manage GPS automatically should be selected.
Start TomTom up and got to Change Preferences/ Show GPS Status, tap "Configure" and go through the various pages, the best one to use is "Built in GPS receiver" as it is the most simple setting only versions 6,020 and 6,030 have this facility. If you are using some other version go for "Other NMEA GPS Receiver", Baud Rate 9600, and select COM4

I get the signal after...hm lets say...20mins...if at all. Most of the time i don't get a signal anyway...
The last device i had was a MIO A701, there i got the the Signal after 1min
What did i configure wrong? Nobody wants to wait for GPS-Signals half an hour
anybody has an idea?
hmm i think i found the problem
it's the metal-case i bought from www.pdamax.de:
somehow it prevents the integrated GPS-receiver from getting the Signal.
If i turn on tomtom without having the p3300 in the metal-case, the signal is ready in about 1-2mins.
If i plug it back in the case with running tomtom and already established GPS-connection, tomtom looses one after another satelite.
what crazy ****... 20€ for a protection-case which doesn't allow GPS-navigation.
Anybody made the same experiences or am I the only fool?!
lol no you're not a fool.
Its commonly known that GPS-signals can hardly get through concrete/metal.
btw, did you post this?
!!!!ACHTUNG:
yup, was so angry that i couldn't repress myself..
hi all,
i am running tomtom 7.915.9196 and the gps status say's no GPS-Device!
google maps works fine. so i think the GPS reciver isn't broken.
what to do?
Greetz...
Mine works,
Have you check in the settings?
setting>GPS>scroll to select "integrated GPS receiver"
Make sure to update QuickGPS too
versnellen
English
region settings must enabled.
how to enable this setting?
Greetz.
I had the same issue with my phone, fresh from the box, i installed few apps, then registed tomtom 7, and no GPS, even quickgps wants me to select a region settings which i have no idea about.
ended up hard resetting, but thinking about it it might have been the HTC GPS tool, i had from my diamond days, thats the only gps related app i had on the phone

I mean
setting>GPS>scroll to select "integrated GPS receiver
from tomtom menu
The only work around to this problem that I know off is to load either Goggle maps or Live Search, let the program active the GPS and then load TomTom. This works 100% of the time.
I stop using TomTom and end up getting Garmin XT. Have never seen this problem with Garmin.
Note:
I have a Touch Pro.

I had the same problem. Just a simple soft reset did the trick.
Hello all,
since last October I have this combination in my car. It works kind of OK. Not as good as I hoped, but better then my last WIN CE Head Unit.
But now I have a big problem. It might be a phone problem, as it occurred after an update to Android 11 on my Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G. But it is hard to determine, as in the current lockdown in Germany I am not driving as much as I used to.
I have the "PUMPKIN USB Android Auto Autoplay Dongle" installed on my Vanku PX6 HU. Till last year it worked kind of good. I plugged the Phone into the dongle, USB Debugging states it recognized a connection, an then the autocast called app on my HU starts and shows Android Auto.
But yesterday (yeah, two month since last using Android Auto), when I plugged my Phone in, it just restarts... When I let it plugged in and it restarted totally, it will just restart again
So, what do I have to do? As I know of experience, the VANKU support is not very helpful. They do answer, but the answers normally does not help.
Is it an MTCD unit?
Hi friends
I had the same problem with my Carplay dongle. Since yesterday my cell phone has always restarted when I connect it to the dongle. The dongle has problems with mobile phones with Android 10 and Android 11. You have to deactivate or uninstall the Google Chrome app on your mobile phone. After deactivating my Google Chrome on my mobile phone, my dongle and the Android Auto work without any problems. I reset my cell phone to factory settings 2 days ago, which enabled Google Chrome to reactivate. I have never used the Google Chrome app before so I only had the problems since yesterday.
Sorry my english it not so good.
Hi

@Lavan09
That is not a solution for me, as chrome is my favorite browser. Also I did not find the option to disable Chrome...
Oh ok, I don't use my Chrome as my default browser so I disabled it. If you use Chrome as your default browser, you will have to look for another solution. You have to press and hold the Chrome App icon then deactivate or uninstall appears. If Chrome software was already moderately installed, deactivate or uninstall after holding down the button.

Uninstalled the latest update of Chrome on your phone and it will solve the Reboot.

I have the exact same issue with two phones which were working previously to an update. S9+ and ZFlip 5G. with android 9 tablet screen in my car and AA dongle. both phones would begin to reboot showing the Samsung logo until the usb cable was removed and then the phones would reboot.
If you uninstall updates (in play store) from both Chrome and Google apps it will work again. I updated both APK files from apkmirror to versions from mid december and have not updated since and AA is still working as usual. I hope the dongle maker will issue a firmware update to fix this soon.
Interesting my wifes car with native AA the phones both work with both updates.
Seems to be a problem with the dongles that pass AA to out headunits.
Good Luck
So today I received an answer from the Amazon seller.
They send me a link and a instruction video on how to upgrade the dongle.
Seems to be very easy, as you have to put the update on a USB-Stick, start the radio and the Autocast App, put the USB-Stick in the dongle, Update will start automatically, get a Information, restart the Autocast App, and that was it.
I have not tested yet, but will maybe tomorrow latest on Thursday do so, and then give you my feedback.
Here is the link to the firmware update:
https://mega.nz/file/mGoQzChT#UAmLqUfSh_Ju1DlhOowZJVO1uUZas9b5p2lBvpqIIn4
And here to the YouTube How-to-video:
https://youtu.be/-MMEI5oXGe4
I have tested the firmware update. It works all fine now. Android Auto again as it should.
So I can recommend the way described above
