Radio Versions.............. - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi guys. First off please do not shoot me for this question, but I truly think this will help alot of people here, including the pro 'chefs'. Anyway I just wanted to know where to find the different radio roms which exist. Trust me I spent more than an hour looking for them and didnt find one. So please can someone have mercy and just post them on one sticky for all the good people here...............Thanks in advance

well, there are lots of threads for radios in the wizard forums and wizard wiki, i don't check the other forums (yet), and googling this site gave me LOTS of results for various devices

right...theres the title...anyone care to enlighten me?
Please don't post about searching as I've spent the last 30mins looking around various posts with little to show for it.
tbh, I'm suprised this isn't a Sticky already at the top of this thread?
If I have completely missed this somewhere on the site, please let me know!
Cheers

ignore me...I FINALLY found a reference to it in another thread!

Hello Noobs, and welcome to the XDA Galaxy S3 US variant forums! I've been answering alot of questions in the q&a section, and many in the general section where they don't belong, regarding issues that I like to refer to as "Android Hacking 101". These questions are, but not limited to, things such as how do I root my phone, what is a bootloader, how do I get better battery life and maximum performance and make my gs3 the greatest most wonderful thing on earth that everyone will be jealous of? (I made that last one up, but you get the idea, lol) I was a noob not so long ago, and I still have lots of questions, but I've learned how to walk that fine line of asking a question without making anyone want to shoot me, and also how to effectively search. I have a website to share with you all and you'll find it in the link below. The website is galaxys3root.com founded by user zedomax and he has tons of sites specific to several phones! He's an amazing guy who has tons of knowledge that he's kind enough to share with the world. On his Site you'll find both written & video tutorials where he will personally walk you through the rooting process, installing a custom recovery image(cwm), and installing a rom! He will also review some of the top roms for each gs3 variant and describe the features of the rom in detail. His sites are a great way for beginners to not only get their phones rooted, hacked, & with custom Rom, but to actually learn what exactly all of these processes are. I will also leave a link to his Site androidroot.org, where you'll find a plethora of other Android hacking videos that will provide you with tips and information regarding android development, and he's also quite entertaining. Please check out both of these sites, and I promise you'll learn a few things if all of this is new to you! Please remember to thank zedomax if you see him here on the XDA forums. I answer most any questions for beginners politely and I try to be as helpful as I can by sharing anything that I understand enough to share. I'm far from an advanced user, but I'm an avid reader and I soak in as much as I possibly can here on XDA. If you are new and you have any questions after you check out zedomax's sites, then please feel free to PM me & if I can't help you then I'll at least get you pointed in the direction of a thread or someone that can. I did not make this post to bust anyone's balls, like I said I'm no pro & I had all the same questions not too long ago, but I've been seeing a lot of these questions floating around and I've been including these links in all of my answers so I thought I would just make a post with the links as opposed to answering the same questions over & over. Good luck to all of you, and enjoy your new device!
Sincerely,
Androholic

Great thread! I will probably also be hanging around here answering some questions so feel free to ask!

Rogers S3 Rooting Flashing etc

Hi I am new to the android world and just picked up an S3. I want to root/flash or wahtever you call it so i can get better battery life.
Could anyone point me in the right direction? I have a Rogers S3.
Rooting by itself doesn't necessarily mean better battery life but you can tweak things more easily.
I'd suggest starting with the stickies.

Hey, I'm really new to the whole scene as well, the S3 is my first android phone coming over from iPhone/iOS. I was really nervous when I first came here and saw how overwhelming all the different versions/methods/tweaks/etc there are, and terrified of going through with my first flash.. I read and re-read a bunch of posts so many times I had them memorized...
anyways.. to make a long story short, once you've spent some time reading it gets a lot easier, and I'd suggest starting with some newbie guides to android in general, as well as specific to your phone. the end result for me was the following guide;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
I followed this, but whenever there was something I didn't understand I searched the forums for it to learn at least what the term meant, and if there was more I thought I needed to read I did so. I won't post every thread I read as I don't even remember lots of them, but I'd suggest using that one as well as newbie threads before you do much of anything.
seems like as long as you do a bit of reading, and ask questions in the right place, people here are pretty willing to help.. I remember watching a video somewhere that was pretty intimidating to a newbie as well, but from what I've seen it's not as militant as the video made it out to be
anyways.. just my two cents as someone who's recently been through starting from scratch.. and if I can help in any other way, lemme know
Please only open one thread about a subject please. I deleted your thread in the Q&A section.
And please don't post the same question in 2 sub forums.

This is refreshing to see, rather than 'i installed this and now my phone is nuked so bad it glows....help.' You have restored a small portion of my faith in humanity .
To the OP: The whole point of android IS the ability to tweak/mod/hack however you want or are able which of course leads to a seemingly unlimited pool of these customizations. The most important thing anyone can do when the make the decision to use an android device in anything other than out of the box condition is understand the consequences of what they are attempting. The best way to do that is to read and ask questions, although at this point in our world of information 99% of all the questions someone new to android might ask already have been answered...you just have to find them . Luckily there are stickied threads all over these forums that collaborate this information both in the general android as well as the device specific sub forums. I would suggest you follow in the footsteps of desucca, myself, and many more before you and read everything you can get your hands on to better understand how your device works, which in turn will give quite a big head start on any other android platforms you may use in the future. Welcome both of you to android, i'm sorry you had to suffer using that 'other' system.

Thx folks

So guys.
First of all i want to say thanks for this great site of android development.
I´m browsing here for about one year, and i always find a thread or post wich help me trough my problems..
My first device was the HTC Desire, and now since about 6 months i´m on the HOX.
I´ve installed many Rom´s, Mod´s etc....
Sometimes with problems and sometimes not
So this is my first post here in the forum, hopefully not the last.
Good work!
Greetings from Austria (Tirol)
Glad you find everything you're looking for and that you decided come out of lurking and start posting things, remember you can help other users who have the same questions you used to have on various things. :good:
