Another Outlook issue... - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I am running a Cingular 8525 with the following:
ROM: CUSTEL v2.5
ROM date: 4/17/07
Radio version: 1.41.00.10
Protocol version: 32.74.7020.18H
Since installing WM6 on my device, I have also noticed that when I read an email on the phone, it is no longer getting marked as read when synced to Exchange via Exchange Activesync and when I come back into the office and open Outlook on my laptop, all of the messages are still showing like I have not read them at all.
Anyone else seeing this?

This may not be the answer, but you might want to check your activesync settings. I have a similar setup and I recall chossing "combine items" on my initial activesync connection.

SPV M5000 Woes

Hi there
I have just bought a "new" SPV M5000 - I say new as the box was still sealed but not sure how long it was on the shelf! Anyway I am having a few problems with it, such as not working with ActiveSync, appalling battery life etc...
Anyway, this is on Orange and has the following device info:
Operator version 7.113.1.130
ROM version: 1.13.49 WWE
ROM date: 09/20/05
Radio version: 1.03.00
Protocol version: 42.36.P8
ExtROM version: 1.13.130 WWE
I am pretty sure this is all out of date, but what is the best route for upgrading it all? I have seen some posts on here that discusses upgrading just the radio, or even replacing the ROM completely with QTEC..? I am not too fussed about keeping the Orange branding - just want a reliable ersion that will work with ActiveSync! Any comments/suggestions will be very welcome!!!
Cheers
Sean
Sorry to say but you have the latest from Orange. It's the same as mine.
I had no problem with ActiveSync before, but I've since done a reinstall on my PC and now ActiveSync wont work with USB connection with my firewall active (zonealarm)and have to shut it down for it to work. It still will sync using Bluetooth. I checked all my firewall settings and couldn't find a problem. Conclusion win xp the best(not)!! Try reinstalling your PC operating system and good luck
If you've got a firewall then change the access rights to allow active sync. This worked for me. As for battery, make sure Blue Tooth is off and keep the device charging when not in use. I keep mine charging from the USB at all times. I believe battery life is poor if you are in a poor service area where your device constantly searches for a signal. There's always an answer in the forums - keep searching.

Dopod 900 ActiveSync problems

Anyone else having trouble with Dopod 900 or other HTC versions ActiveSync ?
I bought Dopod 900 in China, Aug 29, 2006.
ROM version: 1.30.111.WWE.
ROM date: 04/06/06.
Radio version: 1.04.02
Protocol version: 42.37.P8
ExtROM version: 1.13.134 CHT
It was in Chinese when I bought it, but since I can't read Chinese, I had someone change to English.
Cannot successfully link up ActiveSync computer to phone using USB connection.
Problems: I cannot connect my notebook computer (SHARP MP30) to the Dopod 900 using ActivSync successfully. I downloaded the new ActiveSync this week. It tries to connect, then crashes the computer to bluescreen. I disabled firewalls and antivirus in the beginning. Phone seems to recognize the computer, but computer cannot "find" phone. Also, some things like voice automated calls don't work; Some functions are not Chinese and not English anymore? Any suggestions, or do I just us what works on it? Thanks
Current phone service provider: China Mobile. Later will take to U.S. and use T-Mobile service.
Hope this can be helpful to start discussions with others who have similar problems.
----------------------------------------
Sept 8, Beijing: Just figured it out myself. Maybe this will help any others with similar ActiveSync / Dopod 900 problems. Very simple solution actually........ DISCONNECT from the internet. Disable all firewalls and anti-virus temporarily. Then hook up by cable and ActiveSync works perfectly!!!

Caller ID

I have a problem with my BA, the name not showing up on my screen along with the number when a call comes in.
Will be waiting for the best solution for it....
only views, no replies
WAKE UP GUYS!
what version roms are you using and have you changed any software since the last time caller id worked
yeah!
before it was windows 2003, later on upgraded to windows mobile 2005. Device information is:
ROM version: 5.03.02 WWE

Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
ExtROM version: -
moreover, my wifi was working before. Now only showing the wireless icon but not starting up. I guess, maybe a driver problem. Please, help me out with this as well
You've probably got the caller's number in your address book twice, so it doesn't know which contact to display?
nope!
nothing is like that afterall, i am also a bit genius actually any other idea regarding wifi, i guess i need a suitable wireless driver for my version. What you guys think
well...first of all...you should upgrade the radio to 1.15.00...pro secundo...there is a fix for caller id on ftp (anyway newest Helmi rom handles with this issue)...then discuss it again...
i think i had the same prob with wifi not sure about caller id ,didnt get any calls and the gps would'nt connect (bluetooth).i looked through the site and upgraded further last friday, (cant find link now will post if i find it)

Protocol version: 1337.42
ExtROM version: Helmi v1.1

GPRS / Exchange ActiveSync stops syncing

Since I got my Exec I've been having problems with GPRS seeming to get 'stuck' connected but not transferring data. After a couple of hours following a reset ActiveSync will sit there with the "Sychronizing folders.." message in Outlook for quite a while and then fail. I guess the connection is no longer there, despite WM thinking it is. As a result the DirectPush email is nearly useless and I have to keep resetting the device.
At first I thought it was related to AKU 2.0, so I upgrade to Helmi AKU 3.3 and now AKU 3.5, both of which also have the same issue.
Here is my device info:
OS: 5.1.342 (Build 15698.3.5.0)
ROM version: 2.50.00 WWE
ROM date: 09/20/06
Radio version: 1.09.00
Protocol version: 42.42.P8
ExtROM version: 1.30.162 WWE
Has anyone else seen this issue? Or more importantly, what ROM are you using that doesn't have this issue??
Many thanks.

i've had your problem, and solved it.
let me guess, you have a proxy configured to your internet settings - right?
if so, the activesync "inherits" those proxy settings (yes, from the ppc) and tries to use the same proxy - which it can't get to, because its using your home ISP and not the GPRS isp.
(i've checked this with a network sniffer (Ethereal) and i was right - the activesync tried to use the proxy that was configured on my device)
to prove you this is the case, create a blank, proxyless connection settings, and set "The Internet" and "My Work Network" to use it. (don't forget to check the V on "This network connects to the internet" on the connection's proxy settings.
after doing this, try to sync and voilla - it'll work.
to fix it permanently - read my how-to guide on using proxies.

Thanks for the info, shlomki. I think I may have explained my issue badly, as I think we're talking about different things.
When I talked about ActiveSync I meant on the PPC rather than through my PC. The problem I have is that for the first couple of hours I can get push email ok. But then my GPRS connection seems to get 'stuck' and ActiveSync for push email just hangs for a while trying to sychronize, but then fails.
Thanks again for the info.
oh, sorry, i misunderstood.
i don't know what can cause this..
maybe try to check if you can still browse the web when it happens? maybe its a issue with your connection..
Thanks shlomki, good advice. I noticed the GPRS login was the old o2wap, so I changed it to mobileweb and it seems a bit better. I wonder if it was some connection or bandwidth issue with the old login. However I will try what you suggest if I get it again and report back.
Well I've been using the newer O2 pay monthly GPRS login details and my connection seems a lot more solid! I've been testing over the last 24 hours and it's been working pretty consistent.

Windows Live Sync Problem

Windows Live under wm6 is not saving the Sync schedule, have to process manually. Has anyone had this problem.
wm6 Trinity
Rom: 3.00.707.16
Radio version: 1.46.30.11
I have been having the same problem.
It doesnt save the sync schedule.
If i want to check for mail i have to manually sync the device.
Anyone one found a way of resolving this?
BTW I have a Hermes, but the the issues is still valid.
Looking at other posts i dont think the problem was sorted.
