Original released at PDAFans (http://bbs.pdafans.com/thread-333961-1-1.html) by 午木.
Keyboard layout is following Japanese model X01ht, so I guess for other models you will have to manually fix the registry. Not sure how to do that though.
Internet and MMS configuration for China Mobile are added, can be removed manually. In fact I had them removed as I am living overseas and only need my Hermes to display Chinese properly.
There is no Chinese input included in this software.
Been using it with both XDA Live and Black Edition, works fine for both.
Good jobs mates,

Not at this moment, you may want to try some Taiwan PDA forums for that.
The majority at PDAFans are from the Mainland. Hence what ever you get there are most probably in Simplified Chinese.
Alternatively you can always use the latest WM5 firmware released in Taiwan which is in Traditional Chinese, it includes Taiwan style Chinese inputs as well, of which I don't really like.

I cooked myself a rom that has CE-Star (Big5 displaying, PinYin input, Hand Writing input and Cantonese Input)...works pretty well...except one little bug I still need to figure out was the hand writing input part..can't do full screen, but hand writing in a "box" type has no problems.
This is the registry key that needs to be changed for those with different keyboard layouts:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty
There is a key 'Layout' (in DWORD, hexadecimal) that needs to be changed to one of the following:
For default English layout: 20409 (132105 decimal),
Chinese layout: 20404 (132100 in decimal),
German layout: 20407 (132103 in decimal)
Thanks for an efficient way how to show Chinese characters
After I installed this font in softbank x01ht. the japanese input can not work. I thought there may be some problem with keyboard setting, I changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty to 197649(japanese keyboard setting), however it does not work!
Chinese Display Problem
Hi Guys,
After i installed either the CE-Star or the Chinese Font Support Cab on WM6 English Ver, the Chinese character both looks very light and small (in contacts, words, dictionary software, etc). It really does not look good compare to my previous WM5 + CE-Star which is not installed by myself. It looked very clear, solid and smooth.
Anyone knows how to fix this problem?
Thanks a lot.
Just disable ClearType. may get better.
VOW, It really works!

Chinese Fonts look much much better now. Thanks a lot!
Just Need China Mobile Network Settings
I already have a cooked rom that has fonts for simplified Chinese, so I just need the China Mobile Network settings. After installing this cab file, it conflicts with Ce-Star input through pinyin. Can a helpful cooker pls extract just the china mobile network settings and create a cab file for me.

I'm having an interesting problem. As soon as I install the cab that holds the actual Chinese character support (at least, I think that's what it holds) calles ChineseSG.cab I do indeed get chinese characters on my WM6 Artemis. However, this install completely disables my ability to read and write text, email and mms messages. When I try to read or write a message the screen just becomes white and un-editable. Anyone else got this problem and might be able to help me fix it?
-edit-
I tried the other package, the one that started this thread Chinese.Support.Song.cab and it gives me the some problems. In message overviews of for instance my inbox I can see the content of text messages, both Latin and Chinese characters, however as soon as I open a message to read it or write a new one the screen is just empty. I have the buttons at the bottom, but no text appears.

Yes you are right. After installed the Chinese.Support.Song.cab into WM6.1
The sms will not run or displayed properly. I do have the same problem. If you uninstall the Chinese.Support.Song.cab again. The problem still remained the same. Unless you do a hard reset. However, after the hard reset I installed CE- star have no conflict with WM6.1. The sms work perfectly and I can read chinese even in Window Media Player or Audio Manager.
Oh Ya. Try SMS Delivery FIX by Saman It's work after you activated the setting. All the message can be see.
Hi,
I installed your chinese font to my ipac 100. However my keyboard backspace and left right arrows don't work any more.
Also in Messaging can't see emails...
was wondering how I could restore these funcionts... I would really appreciate it.
I uninstall the cab file, but those functions are still messed up.
Thanks

Can someone help me out on installing just a Chinese font on my HTC At&t tilt? Lets pretend I am a complete idiot and know nothing. I just need to be able to see Chinese fonts when they come in on text messages so someone can translate them for me.
Did anyone find a Hebrew support package that works on the Touch Pro2?
I tried Eyron, PDAC, Paragon (LEng) and badnimits but non of them seems to work
With all of them I tried the basic support without UI translation but still no luck.

OK, We have a winner !!! OSM is the man
After HR. I installed:
1) OSM Hebrew package
2) AEKMap for with the updated TP2 Hebrew layout for hardware keyboard support
3) Finger Keyb for Hebrew soft keyboard support
Almost everything is working great & the device response is hardly effected.
Two things I have noticed:
1) Known issue - Opera is showing Hebrew LTR
2) In text messages I receive sometimes digits are displayed in Arabic I guess this is font dependent
didn't get it, if you're looking for FREE hebrew - why check out eyron & pdac!?
anyway, I tried the PDAC with the registry changes I directed you to before at pocketpcfreak - and it WORKS !
second, just TODAY i recieved an email fro EYRON's support saying that you can download a trial version of hebrew FOR TP2 from their site.
wanna try it out ?
Yep why not

Its not so much the "free" as finding a light Hebrew support.
Coming from the TYTN with its challenging memory configuration finding a light Hebrew support made HUGE difference.
Today even though the TP2 has much more memory I don't see a reason waisting it on something as basic as reading and writing in Hebrew.
ok, here we go... i'll try my best:
go to
HKLM/software/Tegic/eT9/XT9suportMSSip and change the value to 0
then, hop over to:
HKLM/system/currentcontrolset/control === here you need to change 2 values:
the first: layouts/e0010409/imefile change the value there to windows/compime.dll
the second: layouts text change the value there to COMP IME
reset and you're ready to go !
all credit to harvey from pocketpcfreak forum
hope all is clear...
I didn't find any TP2 version on Eyron's site.

also tried - i can confirm all of the above.
also - if you have the regional settings set to hebrew the eyron will not let any .net cf based apps work ! you must change to english.
btw- p.d.a.c have released a .cab file to fix the "fun" button problem with the hardware keyboard.
in short, seems the free hebrew support is better than the rest but does anyone know of fixes for the mentioned problems ? i.e opera ltr & arabic fonts instead of digits ?
Good for start...

Is there anyway of combining the FN key with another key for the AEK language toggle?
Hi guys,
I have recently purchased a HTC Desire. To my surprise it does not support Thai font. I frequently receive SMS messages in Thai, and all I receive using this phone is SMS messages filled with squares. My question is: Is there a thai font/language pack?. I have tried Anysoft keyboard and the thai language pack, however that did not enable my phone to read thai, rather it just installed the ability to type it.
Also I would prefer to have this ability without rooting my phone, as I am inexperienced, and if you will, almost completely technology illiterate.
If rooting is the ONLY way, I need a guide, but I have seen so many guides on how to root, and I still do not understand (think of me as your computer illiterate mother.... I just don't understand no matter how many times you tell me). zif rooting is the only way, can someone explain it in slightly more english.
Please help with this issue,
Cheers
I am also interested in this topic. Anyone knows if there's a way to make Desire support Thai fonts?
I would like to know this to.
You guys are looking for an app in the market place called: star tranlate
It translates sms and all sorts - also Thai language is supported.
Froyo supports Thai fonts. Couldn't be ass to wait for OTA update from Orange so I rooted my Orange branded Desire and installed LeeDroid ROM yesterday.
Only problem is, it doesn't have Thai keyboard (well, it has but it doesn't have Thai characters on it) but you can download C&N Thai keyboard from the market.
I solved this by installing AnySoftKeyboard available at Android Market. After this I installed the AnySoft Thai Language Pack. First I didn't realize that the installation worked, but after figuring out how to configure the input method and switch between English and Thai keyboard (you simply swipe sideways) it works like an absolute charm.
No rooting required, installation done in less than 10mins.
Recommended. Let me know if you need help configuring the input method, krub.
EDIT: I should add that all existing functions in the Phone where Thai fonts are being used are now displaying Thai. For instance, all information in the contacts and old text messages from my previous phone.
gud job keep it up!!!

Same here with Android 2.1 on HTC Wildfire - no luck, a new keyboard showing all squares
Alright, so we all know English is supported (sometimes as the ONLY language, like the T-Mo's HD7), and I know keyboard support for other languages will come with time, but there is something that bothers me, and it is DISPLAYING a language.
Due to the nature of my recent work, I need to deal with Middle Eastern languages such as Farsi, Arabic, and Hebrew, and sometimes Asian languages like Japanese and Korean. The Asian languages usually show up just fine on Internet Explorer or Office, but it's the Middle Eastern languages that have been causing a problem for me.
First of all, Windows Phone 7 seems to lack ANY support for Right-to-Left text generally, which is basically ALL Middle Eastern languages. Secondly, Farsi and Arabic letters are connected in words, and WP7 seems to ignore this for most text.
Any thoughts on how to fix this, or whether you think this will ever get fixed?
Support for Asian languages is supposed to come in the second half of next year.
Asian languages will start in 2011 I believe. As for Middle Eastern. The phones are going to be released there sometime this month. But I don't know how you'd be able to install an additional language on there. If it's like Android, you'd have to root it.
Personally, from trying a mix of languages on 6.5. I found the system had slown down when I installed additional language support. In the end all I did was keep my SMS messages, sync to MyPhone and then read them from my browser. But we don't have MyPhone on 7
I also don't know how Right to Left languages will work on the interface. If titles changed, you'd be seeing the end of the words instead of the beginning. Like instead of "Peop", you'd see "le". I think that would look weird.

Right to left typically also involves mirroring the UI. So the Hebrew translation of People would start on the right side of the screen and bleed off the left edge.
I am not too worried about the actual UI being translated to another language. It is fine in English for me. My concern is displaying any Middle Eastern language on the phone's browser, Office, etc. like reading actual text...

The Middle Eastern languages support seems strange. My phone (HTC HD7 - UK) partially supports Arabic & Farsi:
In browser: read right to left but not connected.
In email: full support in title in inbox, but in email body is as in browser if sent in text, but if HTML then not supported at all.
In text: full support! read right to left and connected.
In Zune: full support as well.
In other applications: read left to right and separated..

Exactly. Let me add something to that...In the People Hub feed, Farsi and Arabic show up fine interestingly enough.
Also, in Office, if you have a word, or power point document (have only tried this so far), text is LEFT to right, and separated.
I am sure it wouldn't require much for Microsoft to patch this problem.
Hi All,
We have released a Pronunciation/Translation App for beta testing here:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=saypu.com&hl=en
The App enables you to convert text written in foreign languages into SaypU spelling, whether the foreign language uses non-Roman characters (e.g. Arabic word ‘كلمة’ would be ‘kalima’) or Roman script (e.g. French word ‘chat’, which means ‘cat’ in English, becomes ‘sha’ in SaypU).
In addition, you can convert English text spelled phonetically into the traditional spelling (e.g. ‘frend’ --> ‘friend’).
Also, you can use the EngSMS language to convert English words into shortcuts (‘good’ --> ‘gd’) or to convert shortcuts into English words (‘gd’ --> ‘good’)
It is very easy to learn the SaypU alphabet using examples from popular English words (e.g. ‘very’ --> ‘veri’), by clicking on Menu, then Alphabet.
If you could test on various devices and forward any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
