I downloaded this ROM upgrade from O2 website (Xda Stealth ROM Upgrade (ENG) WWE_RM2_061208).
My stealth has a ROM ver. of WWE_RC061208. Radio ver KY3,LW, ExtROM ver. EXT_WWE_018.
Is my ROM same with the one I downloaded or different? If differrent, can I upgrade my present ROM with the one I downloaded from the O2 site? The ROM upgrade came with a warning that it can only apply to stealth with ROM RM060921. (This Rom upgrade applies ONLY to devices with the following system software:
ROM: RM060921)
Please help me.
TIA
rom upgrade
Hey Doctor_j
Nope it wont upgrade it. The upgrade you have already installed only fixed text input. It actually did something nasty to the bluetooth interface and also now has intermittent difficulty talking to my SD card.
if you think that the ROM60921 is the one you had previously (probably shipped with this one) then hard reset (reset hole plus right and left lower keys (windows and OK)) and upgrade to the new ROM.

hi group,
Can anyone tell me what is the latest ROM available for uk o2 xda2s. I have recently swapped my xda2 for 2s but am disappointed by it being slow and freezing quite often.Wonder if it is hardware problem or software problem. Want to check if i have the latest software before complaining to o2. My present rom version is 1.12.62 WWE and radio version is 1.02.00.

XDA IIs ROM Update works only for UK???
Dear All
I've come across the latest available ROM update for the XDAIIs on the UK site of O2.
ROM Version : 1.31.139
Radion Version: 1.06
It claims that it works only on the UK and Ireland version of the O2 XDAIIs
I have bought my XDAIIs from Malaysia and am am afraid that I might end up damaging my device if I install this ROM update.
Can anyone guide me on this and also let me know how to back up my present ROM. I've tried the romupdate.exe ROM backup software but seems that it can't detect the \\.\WCEUSBHS001 port which it needs to open to connect to the device on the cradle....
Help Please !!!!!!!

I have just tried to install this rom upgrade and my XDAiis stuck on a dark screen with USB and V2.06 written on it. It has now gone back to O2 to sort out.
Just thought I would warn people before they decided to go down the rom upgrade path.
XDA IIs Upgrade
Take a look at this thread for some experiences in loading and backing up fpr the latest O2 update for the XDA 2s.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...ostorder=asc&highlight=o2+xdaiis+rom&start=25
A couple of things I would recommend for the 1.31 WWE version:
1. Install it in "corporate mode" See link above (page 2) for code you need toward the end of install. Corp mode excludes O2 Active software from the install, which makes the device slow and unstable.
2. Keep the number of Today Plug ins to a minimum. Pocket Plus and Battery Bar both seem to conflict with the device and cause more freezes with this ROM. Hopefully the next version of the ROM will be more compatible with these apps which worked well on my old xda 2.
3. The abve thread has a few folks trying to use this on Asian units, Not clear if anyone has been successful..
If you really want to get the latest and greatest, the companion site to this forum wiki developers of course has "all you need to know about building your own ROM, but were afraid to ask"
Hope this helps

O2 Site Update with Exec ROM :
http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html
Is this a new ROM or O2 providing it as a download to fix peoples devices when they corrupt them?
well spotted a18041967!!!
Upload to XDA FTP server
Can an O2 user upload this rom to the xda-developers server please?
It's the initial release ROM, so it's the same as the one all XDA Execs are being shipped with.
It has (I checked):
OS 1.13.48 WWE (Older than Jasjar, which is 1.13.53)
Extended 1.13.139
Radio 1.04.02 (same as Dopod, was already on FTP)
you can enter any imei
do you think if i have the jas jar rom installed i will be able to override it with the exec rom
sure ... just use the patched exe for upgrade.
i'm thinking of using ROM from jasjar, ExtRom from O2 and the radio from O2
can someone tell us what's installed on the O2 exec by default ?
is it better or worse than the JasJar ?
The only thing that really is different from the Jasjar rom is the O2 Active UI, and we all know that is very unstable.
Most Exec users end up using basic or corporate install, which is comparable to pressing the reset button after a hard reset and thus bypassing the extended rom setup.
I did no different then anyone else in that matter. I selected basic install. The Jasjar OS also is a tad newer, so unless you are a sucker for the O2 layout and style, I'd say stick with the Jasjar.
(I'm a sucker for the O2 styling so I will probably end up combining the Jasjar OS and the O2 ExtRom ;-))
Just be aware: The Jasjar Extended rom will set your boot logo to the I-Mate one, the O2 Extended rom will NOT set it to the O2 one! It does not contain splash.nb files!

Just rename it to zip, extract it, delete ms_.nbf and nk.nbf (the only NBF file you need to leave is radio.nbf), use the MAUpgrade_NoID.exe file and flash your radio. You will not even lose your settings or installed programs
Ok, here's my findings so far, I took delivery of my XDA Exec and all was OK, foolishly I decided to upgrade to the Imate ROM.
After the upgrade I experienced continual problems connecting to my WiFi, and was unable to get the Wireless modem to work.
Today I reverted back to the o2 ROM, both the WiFi & Modem issues have been resolved.

Wiz,
I have the MDA PRO with JasJar ROM I have just upgraded to the Radio Version 1.04.02. Everything is fine. Now I have a QUestion:
If I hard reset my device and bypass the Extended ROM install does it mean tha my Boot screen will not become the one from imate ??. I thought the splash.nb files are in the ROM and not in the Extended ROM. I have tryed to find the Boot Screen image in the cab files of the JasJar Extende ROM and I can not find anything?
Any Ideas
Hi!
I really feel like a newbie when i read all the posts about all the different rom versions, so can someone give me some advice which rom i should use to upgrade to?
I have a dutch TMobile MDA pro, which is still at the default rom:
ROM: 1.12.42 WWE (8/23/05)
Radio: 1.00.02
extRom: 1.12.125 WWE
I am experiencing problems with spontaneous hangs (which might have to do with 3rd party software, but the device itself isnt exactly stable)
but also the radio often just loses signal, which i can only fix by rebooting...
I want to upgrade, but i don't want to spend toooo much time on it. Is there a rom that offers better stability which is easy to install and configure?
Regards,
Casper
Try updating to the latest I-Mate Jasjar ROM. Very stable and fast. I too use a lot of 3rd party applications and games. This is my 3rd day of not experiencing any problem without doing a soft reset in the morning.
I prefer Orange ROM... both imate and orange are the same version though... only that Orange's ROM is released while Imate is still not released

ady, what made you say the I-Mate ROM has not been released yet? It is true there is a test version which came 2 weeks earlier than the one I am using now which is NOT the test version. Just curious.
Another question please about the NEW Orange ROM. Is it true that the vibrate is always ON and you can't turn it OFF?
I did it!
last week i gathered my courage, downloaded the JasJar rom, found the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe tool, pressed install, drank a cup of coffee, and was finished!
It went flawlessly! And my T-Mobile MDA Pro has never run smoother!
I couldnt (and wouldnt) have done it without this forum, so thanks guys!
Now its just waiting until there is a new stable rom with A2DP on it, and then i'll upgrade again!

I upgraded my mda pro to the latest t-mobile UK ROM straight out of the box. But even then I have the same problems with spontaneous hangs. And reading your success story I gathered all the files JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.exe and MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to upgrade to the JasJar rom myself. But as complete newbie who is affraid to mess things up, did you do anything else except unzipping the ROM update and copying the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to that folder ? The reason why I am asking I read somewhere that you have to add [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1 to the RUU.conf file.
Thanks in advance.
JASJAR rom works fine
My T-mobile mda pro NL arrived today and i almost immediately flashed it to Imate JASJAR firmware on the xda-developer ftp. I used the Universal_Upgrade_v1.30.68_radio_1.09.0.zip file which contains:
Rom 1.30.68 WWE
Radio 1.09.00
ExtROM 1.30.153
Protocol 42.42P8
and is dated at 08 february 2006.
This works fine and removes the ugly pink theme and adds some nice apps like skype after customizing. It also has an alternative contacts menu, which has skype integration. Pocket MSN (a not so nice app imho) is also included, although i use the new agile messenger beta.
The bootscreen mentions 'for testing only, not for sale' which might indicate that it is not a final (not sure though).
Thanks it works like a charm.
ROM 1.30.76 WWE
ROM date 20 february 2006
Radio 1.09.00
Protocol 42.42.P8
ExtROM 1.30.164 WWE
I'm using T-mobile UK version with 1.09 radio rom. This version INCLUDES the a2dp profiles, but no pushmail. You can use the blackberry connect software from german t-mobile site on the Universal. so you will have AND pushmail and A2DP.

I think Imate rom is also a nice ROM.
Reading this topic en reading the instructions about bootloader, I have another question. In the instruction ist says to make a factory reset after loading the new ROM. Does this mean that all information in your MDA is wiped out and must be reloaded?
yes the machine is a complete naked beauty afterwards
i made : light power reset but it tell me erorr country id
why?
use the MaUpgrade_noID.exe to start the upgrade. It is available from the ftp section of this site. I did this yesterday and it worked first time
Hi Weasel, what do you think of the Qtek ROM? I recently changed from the O2 ROM to the Imate version, would be interested to know what you think are the Pros and Cons of your latest ROM?
Thanks
Phil
Hi
I have just gone through the update process (to UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe) with my xda exec as I was on the latest o2 rom and I followed the instructions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...tion On How To Upgrade with Bootloader method
The bit I hadn't picked up before was the .nbf files have to be in the same directory as the rest of the update and MaUpgradeUt_noID - I deleted the radio version witin the folder (radio_.nbf_) and then pasted in the 1.0.9 one which I downloaded speratly - hit MaUpgradeUt_noID and everything completed within 30 mins or so.
The xda is like a new machine compared to the old o2 rom I was on as it's soooo much quicker.
Oh i was worried about not having my o2 settings but if you download this cab file and run this cab[/url after you have finished setting it up on qtek rom you get all your setting back for o2 (choose basic when using cab not corporate as that doesn't seem to work!
Hi Andy, what do you think of the Qtek ROM? I recently changed from the O2 ROM to the iMate version, would be interested to know what you think are the Pros and Cons of your latest ROM?
sorry for the delay in responding:
My first impressions of the QTEK ROM were fine but.... on Sunday, the phone just stopped working completely - no signal etc. Hard reset was required to get it working again. I've disabled error reporting and will load my software back on later today.

Hey,
I'm pretty new at this, so I'll explain how i've gotten in to this.
1. Bought a HTC tytn UK and I wanted it in dutch
2. Since I couldn't find an original rom i flashed it to the dutch rom from shap's (wich is actually great)
3. Then i did find an original rom but wasn't able to flash it so i used "HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlock - v3a"
4. The original dutch rom works fine now, except when i go to device info
Rom version: empty
Rom date: empty
Radio version: empty
Protocol version: empty
CPU: 8 squars
speed: 6 squarsBe...
No imei number and so on.
Can someone please help me, maybe in the future when i try to sell the phone this must be ok.
Thx a lot to all xda developers here !!!
edit: original bootloader and ipl were: SPL-2.05 IPL-1.04 (maybe it has something to do with that?)

1) you need to flash HardSPL
2) make sure you have flashed a new radio after using the CID/SIM unlocker, due to the fact that it downgrades it to a very old radio for it to work.
I had this issue when I tried a version of HTC Home Customizer that I found somewhere on the net.
To make it all come back, I had to hard reset, and not reinstall the program that caused it. I'm not sure if any other programs could cause that issue, or why it was caused.
I've flashed my device to HardSPL. now wich radio rom should I use?
I've found several radio rom but I don't have a clue wich one is best for me (Belgium, Mobistar)
flash a shipped ROM from here, there is a dutch HTC from there. get to boot loader, pressing the ok on the left, power on right, and stick stylus in at the same time. plug it to active sync, and run the exe file from the WM 6 rom upgrade/downgrade.
