ok, got cocky with flashing ROMS onto my CID locked orbit- i can now only access bootloader. I'm now waiting on imei-check to verify i am who i say i am before they'll unlock my phone for me.
In the meantime does anyone know any other cid unlockers who will do it instantly, or
where i can find a rom that will work from bootloader on my locked device (upgraderom.bat doesn't recognise my phone even though my computer does), or
anything else of any help?!
ps... i assume i can cid unlock from bootloader - is this right?
i did things too fast... not happy!
As far as I am aware you cannot unlock your device from bootloader. For the IMEI-check solution to work, your device needs to be connected and an active sync connection established?
I think your going to be stuck along with alot of other people on here awaiting an O2 UK ROM so they can restore their bricked phones.
rubbish! how frustrating!
surprises me that no one has been able to come up with an RUU for UK o2 orbit...
Did the above and only have bootloader option, "honestly" rather than o2 to release a WM6 ROM, I have sent my XDA Orbit (still under warranty) back to o2 yesterday (Sat 2nd June 2007) for a reflash, told it'll take 7-10 days. So when it comes back (will update time taken) gonna get it CID unlocked and do the WM6 update again if o2 hasn't released the official ROM..
Good luck...

sorry to hear that... i still have my wizard which i've reverted back to for the time being... i'm considering sending mine to imei-check who will fix and do the cid unlock for £40 + £7 shipping... thiking it may almost be worth it for my stupidity!
Still hoping that someone will manage to dump their o2 rom and produce a uk RUU though...
i read somewhere that it may be possible to modify a foregn rom with the uk ID... anyone know about this?
Why send it in when O2 is gonna release their official rom update in maybe 2 weeks or so? When it is released, you'll be able to update it from bootloader mode. Just have a little patience, btw I have the same problem, let me know when you're able to change the device ID code in RUU !

Well simple reason is that I need the XDA Orbit and we don't have any rumour or info re an official o2 WM6 release.
Simple solution I dare say and it aint gonna cost me a penny.

XDA Orbit WM6 Upgrade for UK
O2 have finaly released the WM6 Upgrade,
http://www.my-xda.com/xdaOrbitSoftware.html
I have been trying for the last two days to get onto HTC web site?? still no luck with the download
The original WM5 ROM is available for download, which will run when phone in bootloader mode. Run this to unbrick your handset then unlock it.

Is the correct answer.....
If you don't mind going back to WM5 until it is released, here is a link to the thread with the original O2 Orbit UK ROM download on it:

If you've sent it back to O2 now then they will put WM6 on as part of the 'repair' unless you asked them to put WM5 on it.

Hi ,
I´m going to try and update my HTC s620 to WM6 from Tmobile,
but,
Where can i download the HTC ROM iff i would like to revert
meaning going back to wm5?
and is this possible?
cause i allso want to be sure that when htc comes out with there rom update i can update it to theres,
cause i think the tmobile rom has a lot of screens with there logo on?
and i dont like that
I have the WM5 HTC Rom (RUU_Excalibur_HTC_WWE_1.11.405.4_4.1.13.28_02.63.90_Ship.exe). It is over 37MB in size, I don't know how I could get it to you.
http://rapidshare.com/users/7UE30C
click on the folder button
super!
thanks man!
Do you also know iff it is possible to downgrade from wm6 to wm5, in case i dont like it, or like i mentioned above?
U have to have you phone CID unlocked. then you can go WM5<>WM6 no problem. ( take it back, actually i am not sure. If you going to play only with t-mobile ROM's, then CID unlocking might not be needed).

The phone i have is from HTC it self, not Tmob.
So i know it has no simlock, i guess no cid lock too, but i dont understand cid lock will lock for that one here some where
Did anyone try to update/downgrade it allready?
I did. I have the T-Mobile Dash. It's not CID unlocked.
I downloaded WM6 and found that I couldn't use Missing Sync or send email, so I went online and downloaded the WM5 Rom from another forum (Howard I believe but I might be wrong).
It works just fine, I had no problems going back.
then ill try that, cause htc said it would not work, thanks
I tried using that Rom above but it gave me an error "Invalid Vendor ID" or something like that. I already CID unlocked (thats how I upgraded from ROgers WM 5 to Tmobile WM6). Can anyone tell me what I' doing wrong?
where can I find the tmobile wm5? i upgraded with their wm6 and would like to go back.
ok, i just want to clarify a couple of things before i go and try an upgrade.
i have o2 uk wm5 xda orbit. from the link below
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Versions

shows that the ROM/device (whichever) is UNLOCKED.
now is this sim unlocked or CID unlocked or does both mean the same, I have tried a Vodafone sim in my device and it worked ok, I want to upgrade to WM6 but i dont want to screw with my device as i use it daily.
can anyone tell me if i have a CID unlocked phone.
cheers guys.
All O2 Xda Orbits are SIMUNLOCKED, but there are CIDLOCKED!
CID Lock V SIM Lock
AFAIK....
CID Lock - means the device is locked to the ROM either by your carrier, if you have a GSM company provided/branded handset (e.g O2, T-Mobile et.c)
SIM Lock - means the service provider will not let you use the handset with another SIM card i.e if SIM Locked, you may not be able to use another service provider SIM on your handset.
I believe O2 now ship their phones SIM UNLOCKED (which is a great thing), therefore you can insert a T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange et.c SIM into the handset they provided and it would work, however the handsets are CID Locked, so you cannot flash the ROM to another...unless of course you want to try pof's method.
......my 2 cents
joey jojo, I had the same dilema as you. Only difference is I "bricked" my phone by not planning ahead successfully. The best route I would suggest, from my own painful experience, is to pay the £20 to imei-check and get your Orbit CID unlocked first. That way you can flash away to your hearts content if/when a better ROM comes out.
The mistake I made is I flashed a WM5 HTC ROM using pof's method ( worked like a charm i must add ) to test if it would work. Everything worked OK. Then I went on to flash a WM6 ROM. What I failed to realise is that after the ROM is flashed the CID Lock is back in place and you need to then flash AGAIN with the USPL update before flashing to WM6. I failed to spot this and flashed my Orbit to Brick mode. Thankfully O2 have now repaired it under warranty, I have unlocked it with imei-check and now run BEPE's WM6 ROM with no problems at all. WM6 is SO much fater than WM5.
The choice is yours at the end of the day. Your phone.............hope this helps.

i fail to see how the CID relocked its self... this is unheard of... did you double check the CID unlocking procedure??
Hi everyone,
A while ago I was stupid and tried to flash my O2 XDA Orbit without fully reading the instructions and therefore ended up "bricking" the device. It turns on but seems to hang on the "O2 Welcome Screen" which shows the following information:
IPL 1.25.0001
SPL 1.25.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 1.28.0.0
The device can boot up into the bootloader screen no problems and I have tried to install various ROM's from the German O2 WM6 ROM to the UK T-Mobile WM5 ROM but with no success, it just gets to 3% then reboots.
Does anyone know a way that I can restore the original O2 UK WM5 ROM from the bootloader? Or at least get it working again?
At this point there is no O2 Rom avaliable, you will have to wait till they finally release the WM6 Rom sometime this Summer.

Thank you however I have tried the above instructions but my device just gets to 3% then reboots.
Does anyone know what the MTTY.EXE software is all about and is there any way that I can manually force the device to Flash using this?
Or!!!!!
Is there a way for me to clone a mates xda orbit and drop the image onto mine? Both were purchased at the same time just I thought i'd be clever and update mine which didn't quite work out.
Have you already tried to flash a rom by using your microSD card ?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_SD_Card_Flashing
try to flash it from sd card if your orbit is cid unlocked
not sure
I dont think my device is cid unlocked as it would have worked with the updated rom install, wouldn't it? sorry pretty new to all this.
I have tried to flash straight from the sd card but it just searches through the sd card then goes straight to the multicoloured bootloader screen.
Anyother ways or is there a better rom that i could use?
I just bought a TyTN (Herm 200) and I am so excited about putting WM6 on it. I have the HK WWE official release just sitting here on my desktop.
But:
HTC is going to make a Europe edition available soon. It might even have Mobile Office 2007 on it from scratch.
I am unsure if I can later update my TyTN to the European version if i put the HK version on now. What kind of problems might I run into?
My device comes with Swedish WM5, I imagine I can update it to WWE, but what about back to swedish later on, if I should want to do that?
If it was you, would you go ahead with the update to HK and if possible switch to European version later?
Yes I would. You can always switch later - you may need to CID unlock later or use a modified RUU, but you WILL be able to change later.
.
well, I am a bit hesitant to CID unlock my device since it is brand new and still under warranty. thanks for the heads up.
Will I even be able to put the HK WWE on my device without CID unlocking it?
Actually, you will probably not have to CID unlock the device at all. Oli built a custom RUU that bypasses the CID check without CID unlocking. I was juct throwing that in as a disclaimer since I have not tried it. I am SURE that it works though
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298737&highlight=custom+ruu
I can't stress this enough - put olipro 2.10 on it - this is reversible to the best of my knowledge (see vanx's guide in my sig) and this means that it doesn't need CID unlocking (thr RUU_Wrapper is not the bit that does the CID checking)
In any case, I don't very much whether or not, in the case of a warranty claim, anyone would spot the CID unlock or the SPL update (but still don't take my word for it
I've upgraded someone else's phone for them and I put olipro on which was a good job as it got interupted by his daughter pulling the cable out and it saved it from being a brick...
HTH,
Smiffy.
BTW, the cooked ROMs are so much better than the official dopod ROM - my preference is black satin or sleuth's but they're all better than the official one
OK thanks! Great info!
My Desire HD overheated last night while charging.. I left my phone under my pillow when the alarm rang...and the alarm was ringing for a few hours(a few alarms) ....and when i woke up, my DHD was very hot...and then i quickly tried to cool it....i later tried to check whether everything was working and found out that everything except my phone ear piece isnt working(the thing which you listen to people talking during a call) i tried flashing a different rom, and it is still the same..
So now i want to return it to stock to send for warranty. I have a question how do i return to stock? I bought my phone without contract from an authorized distributor is Malaysia, Asia. As far as i learn from reading, there are a few stock RUU. I have the WWE RUU 1.32, but there is also an asian one..so which one do i need to get back to stock?
From one of the threads,
HTC WWE Stock RUUs - (World Wide English), for stock devices. These are RUUs to completely flash the device from the PC.
- If you are having trouble with them not connecting to your phone, try my guide here.

I didnt flash a radio before, but i remember S-OFF ing my DHD to get root. Please do help. My warranty has 1 more month period. January 8 my warranty is over. So please do help thanks.
Honestly, just get back to stock rom and perhaps unroot it will do. HTC workers in Malaysia arent that clever to check yr phone is S off or nt. they jz check the existance of superuser apps only

Ok, thanks. Argh, stock rom, as in the WWE RUU? Or do i need to go find the asian one? thats the thing actually bothers me.. Alright thanks alot...my phone decided to kill itself today. Gosh.
So
1. Return to stock ROM
2. Unroot
3. S-ON
That would do right?
Thanks Loads
Here is an extremely detailed guide by Yoshi_523 showing how to restore one's Desire HD back to Stock for warranty purposes. It's for Vodafone Australia but I figure you could do the same with your specific RUU. I wouldn't be too sure about the WWE RUU - if you got your phone unbranded then I guess go with the WWE RUU. Otherwise you might need a more specific branded one.
