Looking for the Enterprise files to test with....... - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I have a HTC Wizard running WM6 and I am having a big issue with L2TP/IPSec VPN not working. I have it partially working using the 5.2.318 ROM as a base, however this is now quite old and I would prefer to run the 5.2.1413 ROM that is out there, however I have not really had any sucess with this ROM and L2TP/IPSec.
I would be grateful if someone could post the Enterprise files from a Hermes 5.2.1413 ROM (ipsec.dll, ipsecsvc.dll, l2tp.dll, scard.dll & winscard.dll) so I could test these.
Thanks
Andy

here you go. i still would like to know if you get this working. back to the wizard forums for me...

Thanks for these. I assume they are from your Hermes? What base ROM version are you running?
The files are exactly the same as the Wizard 5.2.318 files I have (whicah are also the same size as the ones from the HTC Wing). I'll give it a shot but I have a feeling there is something else that isn't quite right - maybe a Wizard specific driver that these .DLLs can't interface with, or something....
Thanks
Andy

Questions after upgrading to WM6 - Help...

Ok, I have upgraded my Hermes to WM6 using the ROM on the wiki site.
I have installed all my apps and everything was looking great. I then noticed the Extended ROM and half a dozen cab files. So I have installed all of these as assumed they were some sort of patches.
I carried on installing my apps but now after a reboot the SIM PIN Lock entry screen looks a really basic (non 3d) button version and the keypad that should be shown when pressing the green call button isn't displayed I just get a white screen.
I have installed the following apps:-
eWallet 5
Tomtom 6
PocketBreeze 5.2
Phone Alarm + VistaMedia skin
Any ideas on what has happened?
Do I need to re-flash my phone?
Help..
Thanks

Which version have you upgraded to?? If it is v0.20.x (thats 0.20.0 or 0.20.1) this is a known issue, seriously recommend reading the thread concerned with the ROM you are flashing before going ahead (the link for the thread is in the table aswell).

The best thing to do is to is to perform a 'Hard Reset' which will reset your device back to the same point as when the rom was flashed, so you will need to reinstall everything. Suggest you install the same things again but dont install the skin....this might be incompatible with WM6 (since nearly all skins are designed for use in WM5).
BTW, i would take some time to read through the wiki and familiarise yourself with the various reset types and other literature on ROM upgrades, the knowledge in these pages will hold you in good stead for the future sir

Not really....the best thing you can do is to leave the ext_rom alone and just manually configure your MMS and WAP settings by hand. The ext_rom (again) contains cab installers that are designed for WM5.....while most should work in WM6 there are some that dont. ext_rom is something i havent used for ages in XDA-Live (v0.1 and now 0.2) and I dont miss it.
Just install the apps you were running (phonealarm and others). The ext_rom doesnt do much except run carrier based stuff (like themes and automatic settings).

Just downloading it now, how do I remove the current extrom?
I'd like to use either LVSW or Black2 as my base OS then cook my own extrom with all my selected apps and settings for fast and reliable hard resets, is this a relatively simple sate plan or best left well alone?
Is this still in testing or should i replace the wiki entries?

nothing is changed in this ROM... it's been reconstructed such that those with whitescreens shouldn't experience them any more.

yes, unfortunately, this also means the tadzios toolchain should be avoided.
surely someone can post whether this works or not.

Although, so did the original 26/3 version, AFTER you updated 1.35/1.40 SPL.
Thanks for all your great efforts! this one is perfect and should replace the original that LVSW released

yeah... I had a phone here with 1.40 and I was able to *cause* the whitescreen with a modification, this fixes it.
I believe it's because the extra Hermes data that goes along with the main payload has become corrupted; so what I've done is merged it into one with working Hermes data.
come on! I'm going to keep bumping this till one of you buggers with a whitescreen confirms it works
@Olipro
I had the white screen with both LVSW and Black1.2. Downloading now will test. Im running SPL-1.40 at the moment with RUU_Hermes_QTEK_WWE_2.11.255.1_102_6275_1.38.00.10_108_Ship.exe flashed on after all the WHITENESS!!!

Veeery very good
Don't know about the white screen issues because I've never encountered one before, but I've tried this one besides other LVSW and Black Edition versions. Seems this one is more compatible with SPB Mobile Shell. Hope to hear news about the toolchain error soon and hope Tadzio will fix it ASAP. Ollipro, I don't really care what others complaining about you but I think you're one of the best one here. Please make your own sub-sections for all your tools. Let's say " Ollipro's Hermes Tools" etc.
It works

I will have a look later today, but I seriously doubt that. The whitescreen problem started occuring with LVSW's March 20th ROM, and currently I know of nobody who had problems with my tools before that unfortunate LVSW ROM.
Can anyone who has the whitescreen problem with a ROM based on a version released before March 20th and flashing with an SPL also predating March 20th please let me know?
Anyway, I will make a version that can optionally preserve both the unused space (for Windows Update) and the value of the sector information bytes.
Cheers

Hermes Touchflo: anybody willing to give a proper roundup?

Hi,
i was reading through the posts in this forum and over at 4winmobile.com regarding the porting of Touchflo and all the apps unique to Wizard.
What I still don't get is this:
Is there a "working" CAB already out now? So that I would just need to install that CAB to have Touchflo?
If there is, which would be the best ROM to go with it.
Are there any complete Roms, that have Touchflo already enabled?
How stable is the whole thing anyway?
Maybe somebody who is really into this can give us all an update/ walkthrough on this topic, since information on it is widely scattered over several posts at the moment.
Thanks for your efforts,
trial
roundup... touchFLO is currently only buttonFLO on the hermes.
and at SchapsROM it is only Buttonflo with Blackscreen...
so, there is no proper ROM avaible, that has at least touchButton installed by default?
What about the other questions I asked?
anybody?
thx

There is no need to install a cab to assign the button. Just set any button to run the app.

Yes, there is some rom flying around. black majik + "ButtonFLO" but you have to assign the button. The steps to make it function are in there. Just follow.

TouchFLO was not meant/made for hermes but for HTC Touch therefore it doesnt run perfectly but some people at 4winmobile.com are still working on making it better.

There's a Black Majik ROM that was re-cooked with the added files in Windows over at 4winmobile. I think Slueth? cooked it but not 100% sure. I'm actually using it right now, but I didn't add the ButtonFlo CAB cause the first time I used it, it worked for a little, but as you add apps it acts weird, so, I'm using just the ROM and it's absolutely awesome! Super stable, etc!
guys, thanks for all your replies!
will continue my search with your infos now, and add to this post, as i have more info myself.

I want to learn how to cook a rom

I want to learn how to cook a rom but i dont know where to start. whats the best programme to use? any tutorals? please help
Search for Kitchens.
You use kitchens to cook roms.
The wiki has lots of information to ramp your base knowledge.
I second the suggestion to Search for Kitchen, both in the forums and the wiki. It's all here.
Then the easiest place to start is with matts Pandora Kitchen.
Then as you get more comfortable , I like Core Kithen, he even includes a tutorial.
A great search tool that I use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298893
It keeps me from asking questions that have been asked a thousand times.
Best kitchen documentation is available in Wizard forum. Download Faria's kitchen and read the instructions with it. Cooking concept is the same for both the devices, just the OS is different.
Once you have the knowledge, you can try matt's Pandora or RomDonald's
PS: Do not use wizard kitchen to cook a hermes ROM

I dont think .2000 has been ported yet for hermes...if you can port it for hermes, then you are a chef (like faria or Schap's, etc)...but for us cooks, find the ROM you like (eg. Schap's 4.0 or Pandora's, etc), extract OS and start playing with it.
so far ive read up on the pandora kitchen post and the others suggested in this post. it seems like the easyest to use it the pandora kitchen but it dosnt seem to run. the build os programme stops responding. im currently downloading the latest .net but it might be because i have vista. i cant downgrade to xp due to a problem with my hard drive. should be getting a new one this week but would like not to have to dual boot to save hard drive space plus i like vista.

To ensure you have configured the kitchen correctly (ie put the components in the correct location after downloading), try downloading the Pandora Naked kitchen from it's rom thread (in my sig). It's a complete package - so extract it into a folder and try running BuildOS. If it fails - it's your PC. If it works - it's the way you assembled it.

Thanks for the effort
I tried the untouched pdaviet version but had a couple issues with it, but will try your modified version.
Keyboard is back to looking presentable!!! Thanks algasystems. Hey sanjay I still have the Windows Mobile Lawn boot screen though... It looks the same as the pdaviet rom I think... I'm not gonna reflash back to check but i'm pretty sure.
I guess it's a good thing you started this thread... the vulcan was probably going to loose it any day now.
I'm using the 4700 rom editor for mods, what are you using.
Thanks for saving me the work of cleaning up the rom!!!
Later..
Chemong: I wish you good luck, but don't believe you will find my variation fixes any issues such as battery problems. This is just a cleaner version of the same rom.
MannyMania: Interesting that you are still seeing the lawn. Here's the boot screen I now see. Oh well, at least the keyboard is fixed. I don't intend to do anymore to this since it now is good enough until Kozhura returns but hopefully others will take this and improve it.
I've used Vivi's kitchen in the past, but for simple changes such as these, I just use mamaich's tools directly. I credited Chamine in earlier posts for the boot splash change tips.
Hope this works for you.
Regards.
Just flashed to HX4700 PDAVIET wm6.1 and the keyboard looks familiar to me, thanx.
Ciao
Just a note:
The first time I tried the PDAViet version, I saw the rather undesireable bootsplash. I tried re-flashing the previous WM6.0, which did not un-do the bootsplash.
I found that the only way to get the original blue and white HP bootsplash is to re-flash your device with the official WM5 upgrade. If you don't have the WM5 upgrade, I bet any of the WM2003 ROM update patches will yield the same results (just visit HP's website and search for your device to visit the downloads).

Nice job, Sanjay! I ony had PDAVIet's version installed for a few minutes before I promptly removed it. You have solved every issue I had with their version.

Interesting. If people are seeing the PDAVIET splash and I'm not, your explanation may be why. When I reflashed my 4700 with the latest ROM, my previous flash may not have been undone. So thank you for the experiments.
Because of the capabilities of the 4700 (e.g. no phone), I believe this ROM can be made even leaner. I will try to repeat your steps and fix the flash the next time.
Do you think reflashing with a Kozhura WM6 ROM would accomplish the same thing? Even the thought of reverting back to the HP WM5 disaster causes me to shudder.

Thank you Vivi. I've found your kitchen to be excellent as well and a great help for ROM tuning. I also read your tips including ones to remove the RGU files, but PDAVIET already had these deleted so I did not need to remove them. I still feel though that for the 4700 capabilities, there are other files that can be removed to free up more space. I will experiment more to see what I can do with this.

Thanks Sanjay,
rgu files are needed in using ROM Kitchen.
If no rgu files in ROM, no way to re-packages from that ROM and use ROM Kitchen.
I want to try this ROM but I also want to add my favorite programs in this ROM also.If no rgu files, then I have to manually add and edit it.
I am working with WM6.1 ROM for ASUS P525 and fixing WiFi error with no success , so no time to build Hx4700 WM6.1 from scratch.
BTW,thanks.
